actually, according to leaks, people already tried that but then activision took legal action against similar RTSes for looking and feeling vaguely similar to warcraft, then also did probably some type of legal gag order on the developers of those games so that we will never know it happened, and the only way that you're hearing about it is me saying, "Just trust me bro," because I heard it from an Activision source who accidentally leaked it to me probably while believing I had been hit by a similar legal event, even though I was not. Yes, I'm very surprised people are not rioting right now and letting Blizzard getting away with it. I'm pretty sure what they did is illegal. Say what you will about Reforged but actual effort went into it. Making so many AAA level models is not cheap and we got some really epic campaigns based on the Reforged art style. It's just a shame corporate green got in the way of realizing that original Reforged vision. I feel like this 2.0 thing got even less effort into it and it already broke some of my favorite mods.It’s even more infuriating that these screenshots have been quietly removed from official pages, and Blizzard hasn’t addressed this at all, hoping people will simply forget.

Exactly why i argue that it shouldnt take away few of the things that were good in RF. Old style ui with newer funtionality.It's crazy to me that they went to all that effort to redesign the UI in a style more fitting to the original game, which looks better visually, but then they made the functionality of the client even worse in the process (and it wasn't great before...).
The chat/lobby messages are horrifically large, with each message taking up huge amounts of space. Why is the message below the username of the person typing it?
Why does the games filter no longer filter by map name, the most basic thing you would want to filter by other than the game name? If I wanted to play legion td, I would just search up the name of the version I'm after. Now I have to wonder whether they named it 'ltd', 'legion td', 'legion td mega' or '-PH'. Then when I click on the lobby to see who's hosting it (which matters given that a lot of communities have recognizable names), I can no longer see that information - it's been removed from the preview, so that they can display it in large text inside the lobby itself for some reason.
Why can I no longer access my friends list when I'm in the lobby screen or ingame? I get that old wc3 didn't have that functionality either, but there was no reason to reduce functionality for the sake of 'classic', I'm pretty sure most people care more about the visuals of the buttons/background etc. So beyond those visuals, this update feels like a step back in UI functionality, not an upgrade. They also didn't improve on any of the things that were lacking in the previous UI, like the fact that you can't just type in a gamename to join a private game (as you could in the old wc3 23 years ago..)

This doom & gloom attitude is utterly clownish at this point when we have a moral duty to celebrate and lick boots. I was actually a bit too optimistic getting caught on the "gameplay stills". Because daddy Blizzard would rather not deal with ungrateful fans at all than to meddle with virtually no dividends but with at a high risk. This is not some newfangled game that we can and should critique. This is daddy Blizzard's attention which may come maybe once a decade. And any attention is good. Without Reforged, we wouldn't have gotten such basic functionality as mana bars, or fast replays, or indeed the widescreen resolution.

I hope its just a misstep and they plan to do more, however as it is now it's not entirely worthy of a 2.0 label, should've been 1.5. It's nice that they are trying to remedy some of the shortcomings and outright failures of Reforged, but so far they kind of under and over(removing few good bits of functionality, like friends and chat everywhere) do it at the same time.
EDIT:
The right click box that allows for downloading maps and reporting and alike is far too small atleast on particular resolution and on 14" screen of my laptop. It should be the size it was prior. Its both hard to read and navigate quickly at so small size.

Also buttons for Joining, Creating and Loading should be bigger, roughly the size of hte "Back" button each and Join could perhaps be Green coloured like in RF menues, or in case of honouring classic Warcraft 3 installers and bonus dvd red.
EDIT2: At windowed fullscreen on my 2nd 1080p Monitor it actually looks correct and is bigger, so it might be just a scaling issue if i run it at lower resolution on the main screen.

My second monitor is 23", and its fine on that too. I just mean that scaling is broken on the other screen when displayed at resolutions below 1080P. For whatever reason it defaults to 720p(1280x720) on that one. Also other popups like map download one get much larger. So elements either dont scale and get much bigger or shrink needlessly.
