The background of the website is dark in order to focus the eye in the center where it's lighter and filled with content.

A user named Heuter (Heuter_staff at inwarcraft.de) says he made a Night Elf Bear Form skin for a contest at a German WarCraft III community. He also said that the Bear Form skin is downloadable. From the looks of it, it's perfect for Wc3:WoW! If anyone can help me locate the file, that'd be great!

I beg you, you must continue this project and maybe get some people to join, I hope more people would contribute to this game, it'd be such a waste if this project gets left out in the rain being abandoned...

Who said anything about abandoning the project/discontinuing it? As of right now we're making good enough progress at a pretty satisfying rate. It's fun to work on this mod and being that it's still moving pretty well, I have no plans of quitting.

Yep. Still working on it. Right now, I'm in the process of adding a bunch of spell, environment, and voice sounds from World of Warcraft into Wc3:WoW. Also working on adding more World of Warcraft music as well to ensure that the right music plays for the right zones, like in World of Warcraft. Before, Mulgore music played in Durotar. Now Durotar music plays and there should also be more variety too - or at least, that's what I'm working on now - and I've also added music for Ragefire Chasm, Arathi Basin/Warsong Gulch, and Graveyard music (when you're dead).

Other than audio, I'm just tinkering with Orgrimmar right now. Adding some more small details, transferring triggers from the old Orgrimmar to the new one, and adding regions which will be used later on for various things such as areas for Player-Bots to go to.

Valley of Trials is still under way, but I'm thinking of restarting Mulgore while I'm at it since it's my favorite Horde zone... what do you guys think?

WDSnave fixed an issue that a lot of people have been complaining about. Previously, the site didn't let people register on the forum because of some RECAPTCHA error or whatever. Now it's fixed and users should be able to register with ease once again. If you haven't registered at the Wc3:WoW forum already, I advise you do so - especially if you are a Wc3:WoW BETA Tester!

Just an FYI, I've been reterraining the Red Cloud Mesa of Mulgore (beginning area for the Tauren) for about a week now and it's coming out really awesome. Totally annihilated the older one since the mountains in the previous version of Mulgore were a sad excuse for mountains. I've redone about 40% of the terrain so far and will soon be showing it off. It's tough to find good camera angles to show it off. It's one of those terrains that look/feel great while you play rather than still-image it.

Eleandor is back and working on the looting interface and a tad on the inventory as well.

Shamanyouranus recently finished a new braizer model. Will show it off in a terrain I'll be working on with it.

Wc3:WoW site is still under construction but it's almost done!

More news regarding models, textures, and terrain still to come...

Sounds like there is being worked hard atm. :D

How will you btw. make the bag-system work? It's only a 'maybe', that an action-bar will be avaible for 2.0, and I guess the bag-system will work pretty much the same way..

So have you even customized the interface with any bars or such yet?

Bag system works the same as it does in World of Warcraft. Bags serve as an inventory. You can pickup and equip different size bags. The minimum bag size has 6 inventory slots. The largest bag will have 18 or 20 inventory slots. The bags go up in twos pretty much. 6 slot bags, 8 slot bags, 10 slot bags, 12 slot bags, etc.

Will we add bags specifically for one item type, such as herbs or enchating materials? Probably not. I always found those bags to be very useless and so I don't see much of a point in adding them to Wc3:WoW unless people want them in there for a good reason.

No quivers in version 2.0!

Oh and the bag system most likely will be in version 2.0. Not sure about the action bar since a lot of issues are probably going to come up from that, but I'd like to get that in 2.0 as well since it'd really add onto the World of Warcraft feel.

Spell Casting Bars aren't going to be in version 2.0. Sorry!

After the recent 1.24 patch was released for WarCraft III, a lot of problems arose for Wc3:WoW. It's simply unplayable now due to the issues with spells and triggers that use the returnbug. Also, with the new natives with the patch, Handle Vars is officially useless to us now and we're no longer using it. I believe Table 3.0 is what we'll be using now to replace it.

To fix the many issues we are now dealing with, Eleandor is going to recode as much as he can. It'll probably be a while before it's all fixed and redone, but it's for the best... it's for the playability too. The downside of it all is that this is going to be a tedious process, recoding everything so the mod works again. The upside is that the mod might function more smoothly and... function in general. We're also going to be JASSifying the GUI triggers. Meaning, we're going to replace all GUI in Wc3:WoW with leakless JASS coding. Overall, the mod will work much better than it did before. I have no idea if loading maps will be affected, but doubtful.

Well, if I'm completely honest the new natives introduced in this patch *are* useful, and will make code previously using game cache much faster. In that respect, it might give the modding community a boost (especially because GUI users can now use hashtables just like jass users could before the patch) when all the troubles are gone.

But then again, expect an 1.24b patch *soon* since the exploits were not fixed yet and other bugs were introduced in the jass compiler.

No... NO!! I knew this was gonna happen, look above on what I posted earlier before anyone even knew about the patch, my paranoia DID pay off...

Lol no problem. I was just as paranoid when I heard the campaign wasn't working right. But knowing that we can fix it ourselves, it's not such a big deal. Fixing it will be a very tedious process, but whatever. Making this mod is tedious, so not much to complain about really.

Still working on terrain in Wc3:WoW. Red Cloud Mesa is lookin' great. I'm creating each and every damn hill in Mulgore in Wc3:WoW as they are in World of Warcraft, so you guys better like it when I show it off! I was thinking about even putting grass tufts where they are in WoW, but I'd like to release Wc3:WoW some time before I die of old age.

My guess is that we're going to have to wait for a new version of vJASS or JASS New Gen after this is all over.

vjass and JNGP are still compatible with 1.24. All you need to do is replace common.j and blizzard.j in the Jassnewgen/Jasshelper/ folder. The real problem is that a lot of the libraries are no longer compatible with patch 1.24. So a lot of the code must be rewritten.

Just tried to open the Wc3:WoW campaign in both the World Editor and New Gen World Editor. Neither work. Gives me a critical error, making me unable to even view the campaign itself or any of its contents. I really hope there's a fix to this. Don't want to lose all I've done on Orgrimmar, Valley of Trials, and Mulgore because of BLIZZARD.

This kind of stuff should probably be said in the *private* forums :(

But it's true. I can't seem to be able to open the campaign either. I'm thinking it's a problem with the jass in the maps. I'm going to try to extract the maps now using an MPQ editor and see what that does.

I don't feel like starting from scratch :(
Some paranoia is striking me right now too...

Ok, with an MPQ editor I can save everything except for the triggers. So we basically will lose all triggers inevitably. If we're to continue work on this project I'd probably hire a few additional jassers if I were you...

If you agree, upload the latest version you have and I'll try to fix the campaign, removing all trigger data.

All object data, models, sounds, etc. should still be there too. Only triggers (gui and jass) will be lost.
I can also extract the jass scripts from the map but they will still remain broken, and it'll be in 1 big file, rather than split up in triggers. In other words: a pain in the ass to repair that. I mean, repairing local handle vars is already going to be a pain in the ass, but repairing all triggers from 1 big script file... I really don't want to do that :-(

Sticking with 1.23... I don't know. It's got a lot of drawbacks:
1) Anyone must have 1.23 if they want to play it. I can imagine that - no matter how good wc3:wow is - people don't want to go through the trouble of having a dual-install.
2) You'll be missing the efficiency advantages of hashtables
3) You'll be missing any future updates too. I'm thinking of code libraries using hashtables, or new content from a future patch.
4) You can forget about ever creating a multiplayer version, since RTC will only be compatible with 1.24 or above

Also: it's not just triggers or systems using Local Handle Vars that are broken. Currently, due to a new bug in Blizzard's jass compiler, many scripts using returns in conditional statements (if/then/elseif) are probably broken too. Since this really *is* a bug I'm expecting blizzard to fix this in 1.24b.

You make the call, boss.

It's very bad either way :p

Ok, I failed to recover the files. I tried again, and I failed again. Took me a LOT of time figuring out how I could recover it without corrupting the MPQ archive. Finally, I succeeded, but I had to remove 2 maps ("Credits" and another map too, don't remember the 2nd one).

Everything seems to work like it's supposed to (other than not having any triggers and thus not having *any* gameplay), so I'm uploading the campaign right now. My upload speed is slow (67 Mb at 50 kbps...), so patience please ;)
Expect a PM when it's done.

I'm pretty pissed off right now, but then again, making a fresh start in vJass rather than mixing it with jass and GUI may become an advantage in the long run.

Yeah, really hope the terrain was unscathed. Plus it's frustrating to know that I can't playtest the levels either. Oh well... with brand new vJASS work, it should work more seamlessly and be less of a hassle to create and fix stuff.
But please trigger everything as quickly as possible. No more vacations! School starts soon and once that happens, I know everyone will become busy as hell. So for the time being, work your ass off please. If you need any specific orders or systems to trigger, let me know and I'll create a list in the private section.

My computer stopped working a couple days ago and I lost some good progress on lower Mulgore. Red Cloud Mesa to be exact (place where Tauren starts)

I thankfully saved it on Rapidshare, but it's not as up to date. Kind of disappoints me and I can't really get to work on it soon due to the lack of my gaming PC. I'll still be trying to get on top of organizing Wc3:WoW's plans and so forth, but the terrain has come to an abrupt and unexpected halt for now.

Actually, our hard work would be ruined if we released it as incomplete for the community to tear apart. It's like throwing meat into a crowd of zombies. And I'm pretty sure 80% of the people watching Wc3:WoW would steal every single model and texture in Wc3:WoW if it were not even finished to make their own maps and mods - which we do NOT permit, by the way.

If it's final that Wc3:WoW has finally hit the fan, then sure. I'll let everyone sabotage it. :)

nice. i agree 100 %

but as an added thing, maybe you should give it to a well respected person so that if indeed the roject is gone, and if a dedicated team wants to complete it, and if ur not around, we can always contact this person and he will give them the map etc..

^^ when i read it over, it doesn't sound like a good idea =X

Don't get me wrong but thats the reason why I keep my team as small as possible. Cause so I'm independent and can continue my work no matter if a member leaves.

Some news about Wc3:WoW for those who are too lazy to read the other threads right now:
  • Wc3:WoW is now alive again.
  • I'm working on Mulgore and other zones' terrain again.
  • Recruited Yixx as our new vJASS Expert to focus on coding the mod. At the moment, he's the only coder on the team and has already started coding. However, he is on vacation until Friday or next Friday.
  • Still waiting for confirmation from the other developers of Wc3:WoW to see if they're with us or not. Some have responded, such as Silvenon, and confirmed that they have left.
  • Work on the website is being done. Nothing too major. Just modifying the text on all pages. When my webmaster isn't so overwhelmed with being busy with his own projects, he'll help fix up the site some more.
  • The other Wc3:WoW forum seems to be down and my forum administrator, WDSnave, hasn't told me why yet. My guess is that he gave up on the forum and had it deleted.
  • Next News update on our Mod DB profile will probably have some cool new visuals along with a status report and whatnot.

I downloaded and installed the 10 day WoW trial yesterday and will try to get to work today. I did a tiny bit of refining to Southern Mulgore (Red Cloud Mesa) yesterday, but nothing too major. I'd like to show off some Mulgore screenshots in the next update as well... am hoping to get started on Thunder Bluff after Red Cloud Mesa is complete, since it looks terrible. (Wasn't made by me!)

The maximum amount of coders for this team will be three. Right now it's just Yixx, but hopefully we can fill the other two slots with really good coders so Yixx isn't so overwhelmed and isn't relied on too much.

I don't want too many developers on the project though since it seems like we're relying on more people and usually there's more people idle than active, so best keeping the team small and relying on a few rather than a lot, since the ratio of active and non-active developers kind of force us into this position anyway.

*Crosses fingers to recruit dedicated developers*

A developer, in this case, is an individual who participates in creating the mod (which, over time with a lot of effort and skill applied, it develops) and is officially working hands-on with the project.

In other words, a developer is someone who takes part in the creation/development of the project. This can fall down to designs, artists, coders, etc.

Those of you who are registered at Mod DB and want to keep yourself updated on news reports, please visit the above link and track Wc3:WoW! We often release exclusive News articles there and some screenshots too. Though the Hive gets a lot of exclusive attention as well. Hive Workshop actually gets way more exclusive content about Wc3:WoW, but Mod DB gets some exclusive stuff too that you might not want to miss.

This weekend I'm hoping to release some screenshots and a news update at our Mod DB page: http://www.moddb.com/mods/warcraft-iii-world-of-warcraft

So track the mod and keep your eyes open!
