hi guys this is my first post so please advise me regarding admin stuff/formatting

ive been working on this map for more than 5 years already but i just wanted to upload it so more people can play it

Night of Oblivion is a real-time strategy game which runs on Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. It can be informally shortened to NoObcraft. It is a custom map developed by Emiki and features 4 playable custom races: the Curator Force, Defiled Swarm, Exalted Order and the Fallen Conspiracy. The only available game mode now is 1v1 PvE (against a customized Human AI), and is played on Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne v1.26a.

Links are to the main wiki, which is also written by me. It has an economy and game pace which is most similar to Starcraft II's Legacy of the Void. For patch notes please refer to my blog.

  1. You could detail a bit on the gamplay.
  2. You can just put none.mdl as the model for the Camera Location not to be visible and selectable on the terrain.
  3. I'm not too sure about the techtree. There's a lot of units that seem to serve the same role. A lot of fliers which don't have that much differences between them.
  4. For some reason, initial Fire Pit disappeared.
  5. Got a game crash playing "Orc" when I selected the Siren model unit. Happens every time. And some other unit which has a dark hue due to RGB edit. Same happens when selecting the Priest model unit from the "Human" race.
Generally, I see mostly Warcraft III recycled material with some creative ideas, basically a sort of Warcraft II-StarCraft-like edit.

How to Add a Screenshot to your Map Description


ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

hey thanks for the reply and feedback!

1. okay, i will delve deeper into details, but specifically which area do you think i should work on first (i understand the game as a whole is extremely rough because of my lack of insight)? would it be unit abilities, race asymmetry, resource balance, map design...or something else?
2. wait, if i make the camera location a dummy the player would be unable to select it to use its 'abilities' (commands). perhaps i should put the commands in the Core structure instead?
3. i agree completely, i also think that too many units are too similar to each other (which is a bad thing), so i'll have to think even more about how i want to approach unit diversity and specificity. as for the techtrees themselves, i believe you have seen the each of the races' techtrees in the wiki (in OP description), but i personally think they are generally fine so i'll need more specific feedback to deliberate on.
4. hm! ive never had that happen to me. i suck at bug fixes though...
5. again thanks for highlighting this bug, i believe i have had this happen to me before, but i cant do bug fixing for the life of me... any ideas on why this happens?

It can be selected via the hero icon or via a control group.
5. again thanks for highlighting this bug, i believe i have had this happen to me before, but i cant do bug fixing for the life of me... any ideas on why this happens?
I will try saving the map on 1.30.4 and see if the issue still happens. I've tested it on that version.
