It is true that both Christianity and Islam are peaceful in majority, and their are extremists in both that are utterly ignorant.

But to clear up some things.

Muhammed was not only a religous leader but a political one, and so he may have "MAY" have used the sword to bring Mecca to Islam...But I am not for certain. Islam is a peaceful religion in the right hands. As is Christianity.

Christ did not use violence to bring people to eternal salvation. So like Islam, Christianity is peaceful in the right hands. An example of this was the Arabs after Muhammed spreading Islam when they conquered the Arab areas in the Middle ages. An example of this is also the Christian way being spread when Europe imperialized. And it was not for God or in the name of Christ or in the name of spreading Christ that they spread it when they conquered. It was in the name of material possessions and land that they really did it. Just as any empire does. When they spread their religion went with them.

It was in the hands of certain groups after these leaders, combined with greed, and other carnal things. That they were able to use these religions for violence.

I wonder what politic subjet hasn't been compared with religion. Except atheist ones...

If you mean "political structure" then Scocialism/Communism is usually compared to Atheism.

But back on topic....Russia, is not a threat.

One of the real religions Christianity/Roman Catholicism became popular was because of it being forced on the Romans by one or two Catholic emperors that got into power (then the rest of the following emperors were Catholic as a result)

"By the sword"

So even if Muhammad did, Catholicism didn't do any better.

Dont forget to mention the Christian suffering under the pagan Emperors.

And yes while Islam did use the sword, Catholicism did'nt do any better. BUT!!! As said before the majority was peaceful. A minority used it as a weapon. And the people being devout were also used through the minority.

Similar to how today terrorist minorities are able to radicalize peaceful or moderates into evil action.
 
Huh, I was reading some stuff on the net. I read that infidel is not isn't even in the Koran at all. There are some common misunderstandings along those lines, but this is only one compared to the many things I've read saying the opposite. But, I may be persuaded yet.

Oh and I'll read up on Mohammad, but I'm still pretty sure he went to Mecca and killed the people that kicked him out.
 
Russia is no longer a threat, at least for the time being. they had no economy in 1990 and they have no economy now. but they could easily become dangerous:

Do they have nukes? yes

Do they have missiles? yes

Do they have a reason to kill everyone? no, and you don't need a reason to start nuclear holocaust.

Are they dumbass pacifists like most Americans? no

will they be around once America collapses in ~about 30 years? Hell Yes!

Did you forget the other most important field?
Health.
A lot of advancement comes from medical technology too.
Weapons and medicine get most of the budget.
Don't think that we need war in order to advanced.
 
War is the great selector....It gives and it takes.

We advance in certain ways through war...but we die in the process.

War will always be around, you cannot get rid of it. We can only make it less likley. Thus, defense budgets, and military advancement will always be needed. But it must be balanced with the issues of peace.

Because just as war will always be until the end of time...so will peace.

And guess what? War's major advances were made for civilian use originally, for instance: gunpowder was used for fireworks by the Chinese, and nuclear bombs developed out of previously peaceful research into radioactivity.

Yes but as the years past science is being used to improve the Weapons, and if russia are creating "plasma Weapon" the Americans must be at least creating a Stealth Nuke or a satalite that can't be detected by any system which can be used to destroy any place with the right cords.

So either any rich countrys would be a threat yes that major means "England" but our goverment is rapidly being corrupted by the "Iran" Goverment because our goverment have to do what ever the iran goverment says to keep them help so we can have peace.

And in "Iran" women still have no Right to Vote, and Which still shouldent happen in this time and stage of life.

Just for the record. Religous beliefs DONOT cause wars. They can be/are used as tools and excuses in wars that are caused by other things like greed or other political purposes. Anything can be used as a tool or excuse, even religion. But they do not cause war. ALL war is politics.

So please. Stop saying that if religion was abolished that the world would be "O' so utterly perfect and better" Because I highly take offense at that because it is not only completely false, but it is derogotory towards religous beliefs. Thankyou for your time and patience.

Now then. Nuclear weapons will never be used as a means of winning wars, just as WILL said. Nuclear weapons are pretty much just there so that other nations will not use them against you in fear of retaliation. The only people that would ever consider it, is terrorist groups, and even then only the major nut cases even by terrorist standards.

And also, even if evolution was true (I personally dont believe in it) It would take millions upon millions of years even without a highly mutated radioactive environment (radiation causes negative mutation in most cases like the problems caused after Hiroshima and Nagasaki) for it to even rebuild the very basic rudementary lifeforms needed to sustain a working ecosystem.
 
Nah...Even the crusades were not "religous"...infact religion was simply used to get the people behind it, and it was used as an excuse. A big reason was the spice routes. After Europe won a few crusades...the first thing was to open the roads to the east, and to the lucrative spice trade. Also the east was full of treasures that the Arabs had.

The wars now are still about power. Islamic terrorists want power. And they are using strict Islam as a tool to gain and keep power in the east.
 
Luckly I'm Dutch and at our nation it isn't fucked up. Deaths by guns: America 10.000+, Netherlands 350. Big difference. And we got weed, come and visit us.
 
We only have like 2 deaths by guns like every month or year.

Because we are not like americans we fight with out fists not with weapons...

And I also agree but if you do get the religious people behind you, and you will be most powerful because if you know how many religious people are in 1 country you will know how strong your force will be.
 
What better way to use the people, than to through their spirit.

It just depends on who is using them. They can be used for a good cause, or an evil one...

For example...

A man could use Christianity to raise up a people against an oppressive government, or to free a nation, or to aid a starving ethnic group in Africa...

But a man could also use Christianity to radicalize a group to create a bloody war...and in the process defile the religion he used to radicalize the people.

The same can be said of any other religion.
