Hero Contest #4 - Animalistic Nature

I thought i read about bugs not being animals, anyway i was wrong :)

well, depends on what is considered to be. Most people think that animals are everything that is not plant or mushroom or virus. I think contest theme is animalistic nature and I think that you meant to say that humans(humanoids) can't have animalistic nature of the bug (they do not have a brain(only one neuron cluster),memory and have very short lifespan). But this is not really ours to elaborate because submission is by the rules.

Animals are defined in biology as . . . Fuck I forgot everything I learned this year.

And dragons can be considered animal-like. In fact, the reason the concept of the dragon is so widespread is due to humanities natural fear of snakes, lions, and birds of prey. Each culture has their own unique spin on it, but it's generally the same. But my point is that the dragon is inspired from animals.

The dragon lore i wish to believe in is that dragons are the wisest of all creatures, they have the knowledge of the universe, and are the keepers of the Great Library, a mythical place where all the knowledge of the universe is kept and guarded by an elder dragon. Dragons power range from any magic, not just fire, they can control all the elements, and are especially good at controlling wind. Hence how they fly because their wings are too small for their bodies.

many dragons have proportional wings. And your lore is amusing, but that hardly makes them animals. If dragons are used to explain magic of the hero than they are aliens not animals. So I should have made a villager and link it with "little green ones". And give him telepathy, telekinesis, psionic powers etc. :)

i totally agree with that, but my lore is luckily matching up with the reason he can transform to a dragon :)

First of all 5 spells, idk but we was told 4. Second your buff seems oped p.p 19 %? the normal dodge rating full lvl is around 6, anyways i guess you balanced it.. but it sounds very unbalanced, other wise cool

no it is not. We must create 4 skills. But pharaoh said we could add sub-skills
Poison accumulation is a sub-skill of poison blades. He mentioned it somewhere.
Dodge rating is 21% for base ability trust me. But I added cool warp thing where she teleports behind a unit who is attacking her and attacks it instead. There is a 5%chance for that to happen.

WIP Post #1
Just so that I do this properly here are draft notes on my Hero's abilities. Values are temporary and abilities are subject to change.

Uthrgor the Mammoth Remnant

Q - Brutalize
Stomps an enemy single target with great force dealing X/X/X damage which is split among enemy units nearby the targeted unit. If this skill kills a target the Hero's maximum health is permanently increased by 3/4/5.

W - Mighty Howl
Lets out a deep howl which increases health regeneration of the Hero by 3/5/7 for 20 seconds. During this time the Hero's other abilities also gain additional effects.

Q also stuns the primary target for 0.25/0.5/0.75 seconds.
E stores the blocked damage and can be used once to regain 25/40/55% of it in health. Is automatically used for half the value when W buff expires.
R if the feared unit kills an enemy unit the cooldown is reset.

E - Battle Spirit

R - Craze
Strikes such fear in a single allied or enemy target that the unit loses his sense increasing its attack rate and movement speed by 80% but takes damage per second and become hostile to all player's units.

OLD STUFF
Blocks damage taken from attacks by 1 for every fifth/fourth/third enemy ground unit nearby.

WIP Post #2
Okay so I've been working on this new hero now and it's going quite well. I will continue tomorrow to get it finished. I have attached the current version of the hero. I'm going to have to go through most of the triggers as they are kind of messy and inefficient but I learnt as I went so that's to be expected lol. I do however like the abilities as they are and won't change much about their mechanics. The actual values will change as I try the hero some more.

Uthrgor the Mammoth Remnant is a tanky strength-based hero who is good at disabling multiple enemies with his passive E along with Q or auto-attack. His W lets him live long through fights, and Q makes him stronger over longer games. Even though he is strong against physical attackers he is easily shut down by dispels and bursty spell damage. Below are a few strategies around Uthrgor.

Playing against Uthrgor
  • His Q is dangerous when facing it alone. Clustering units together will significantly reduce his single target damage capability.
  • Kiting Uthrgor with ranged attackers is a good technique to deal with him as he needs to hit targets from melee range in order to disable them.
Playing as Uthrgor
  • Using R on a mispositioned melee unit among ranged attackers can prove to be most successful. Also note that sometimes sacrificing one of your own units can be worth it in the long run.
Now I will go to bed. Happy continued hero-making everyone!

is it better to make spells Q,W,E,R or just like other w3 abilities?

anyway, here is my not-very-far-from-final-version WIP
Brood Father (at first he was Swarmer but this fits him better :))
still not sure about balancing, leaks and i am totally lost with the blight removal from his ultimate skill...
(and also, spiders from first skill are supposed to have life-regen only on blight but i forgot to implement it :D)
most work in object editor, so i dont give him big chances, but anyway id like to compete :)
the model is normal archimonde, with a bit changed skin from own import, maybe im gonna even change that a bit...

"Concept" factor hides originality elements as well, but this is counted, up to what we have seen so far, not among the submitted concepts. So, if someone figures a really nice concept, it will be judged according to the known facts (Spells section, etc.), not against another submission to check their originality level.

Bugz I see you stole Vestras's avatar ;D Ye, it's nice - I'll soon make zerathul animated avatar too :p

Guys, if hero does not have to transform to animal yes? He can be just be an animal and everything is right? :S

Imao, i dint even know that =p, just founded it on another site ... and i was like o_O, that matches my signature :3

Anyways i might could use some time and create another epic hero p.p. How long do we have left :vw_death:
