Hey, sorry for not responding before I went away. My girlfriend got home earlier than I had anticipated, and she had a lot on her heart.
And I had to go to bed anyway.
I've been pretty good, I don't know how much you knew before, but generally I quit carpentry, took an education and got a bachelors degree
in literature. Then I moved to a town in Norway called Lillehammer. And now I'm living here with my girlfriend (we moved here because she got
accepted to a movie university of sorts, she wants to become an editor). Currently I'm working in a construction store and trying to do some
writing in my spare time ^^
Again, it is a corny topic, since a single backup copy is legal if done the proper way, but only in some countries (ex : France). Plus, I am also aware of, say, the problems SlySoft / RedFox recently had with AnyDVD HD.
I ultimately wanted andreasaspenberg to realize all his games have some old copy protections, which are an issue on W10. Guy really could have used his head and a search engine here. I now have read more comments from and about him on THW. X(
Alas, we will never know whether or not he discovers 100% legal and free solutions, to play his old protected games in W10 using his mounted backup CD images. Well, c'est la vie.
Maybe Rule #20 can be officially extended to any kind of protection regardless of local laws and OS, to make things clearer and safer for THW ? Still thinking about SlySoft here. Better play safe nowadays, sadly. http://www.slysoft.com/
Apologies if I did something wrong in the CD emulation thread. But you are right, andreasaspenberg now has all the clues in the world he needs. Now it is up to him to experiment. For DK2, he really did not think hard enough (it is not a simple CD check fyi).
Shar Dundred and Roland already expressed concerns in VM about me helping him. I do believe W10 alone is the issue here, and I do believe he owns the CD games. I consider ProtectionID to be an information tool for W10 compatibility, it does not allow to circumvent anything afaik.
Nowadays, with activation technologies and DRM, things are cornier than ever legally speaking. I hope I pointed it all out right in my posts. Please feel free to edit them if something is inappropriate on THW's point of view. Better safe than sorry.
We are so very lucky Blizzard cares for his W10 customers, and removed copy protection years ago from most of its games, in order to allow official digital downloads. Alas, most other gaming companies do not care. In which case, you have to buy your game again, from GoG or Steam. pity really.
jumping late on the bangwagon : happy Birthday !
The main attractions for me about Unity are that I can program in C# and import models from Milkshape. It's feels like a natural next step from WC3 modding, drilling down further to building the underlying engine rather than just scratching the surface.
I've always loved the elder Unreal enginer games, but UE4 just seems too... AAA-orientated for me. I'm just not interested in making that, let alone capable of it. Unity seems content (for now at least) to let me scramble around in the late 90s (with the addition of dynamic shadows, natch).
If you want to get involved, there's always a comment box on my blog posts. Do you keep a blog yourself?
I mostly do it because there's nobody in real life to talk to about this stuff, so I figure shouting at the clouds on the internet will suffice in place. Glad to see it's actually turned out useful for somebody, though!
Enjoying life. Nah, I got married earlier this year, started school and got a new job, all in quick succession of one another, so my available free time has been spent with my family and studying, naturally.
Holy fucking shit. Congratulations on all accounts!
However, I do want to say, you could have spared a moment to let us know, seeing
as you were sort of a moderator who suddenly vanished without a word, you know.
Hey there, about my infraction even i didnt say i will pirating, i am planing to say "download a movie with noobs way", is that not allowed? Just a normal complain, dont worry, i wont say anything about pirating again. How about talking about piracy in VM or PM?
