the best bands are bands like Greenday, The Rolling Stones, Queen, the Doors, etc.
Basically bands with there own style, REAL SINGERS (screaming isn't singing and it's rediculous people listen to that crap) and meaning full song lyrics. I don't care about some singers x-girlfriend. I care about songs that talk about actual events and meaning full issues. And if they don't, then you might as well just have a great tune and rock it out.

@ Anarchon
Half the bands you named were alternative or metal, not rock
Real rock is like.. the Stones, Queen, etc

And greenday's Punk rock/pop punk/alternative rock, the stones are Rock and roll/rhythm and blues/blues/rock and the doors are Psychedelic rock/acid rock/blues-rock/hard rock.

But you know, we'll settle them as being 'real rock' for the sake of avoiding a music based (AKA LONG AND BORING) argument.

I personally think the best bands are unknown because they do not do standart stuff, most of the bands change into something that everybody listens to, so I mostly don't care about the bands everybody talks about. I listened to them and they are not my taste... Ok Simple Plan is really popular, but those is only 1 group which is really known overall. Well much told short sense,...

The best bands are the ones who are not spoken all over the world. The unique style of them which fits to your life will let you change your style to those.. Because public is good, but not excellent..

I totally disagree. There's a reason popular bands become popular. Sure it sometimes has to do with charisma, luck, and good timing, but usually popular bands are talented/good.

All I've been listening too is metal... lots of metal :) and some other stuff...

1. Iron Maiden
2. Queenscryche
3. Black Sabbath
4.Yngwie J Malmsteen's Rising Force (for just Yngwie J Malmsteen for short :p)
5. Judas Priest
6. Metallica (the Old Metallica is better then the new one)
7. Megadeth (even if they took our song... explain later, lol)
8. Blue Oyster Cult
9. L80ETC (essentially :p)
10. Iced Earth (kind of)

Megadeth - they took the song my band was working on. They somehow went like a few years into the future, set up cameras around the band rehersal room and went back into the past and made their song, "Symphony of Destruction".

Of course, they added in their own stuff... but the part from :10 - :40 about we made... their time machine took it... that's my story on why I partially hate Megadeth :p

My two favorite bands are Radical Face and Electric President, both relatively unheard of, both from Jacksonville, Florida in the US, and both with the same lead singer. EP just has his friend in it, and RF is a solo project. EP tends to do more synth and electric stuff too, whereas RF is more acoustic guitar, piano, etc.
My top 10 favorites from them:
1.) It's an Ugly Life
2.) Winter Is Coming
3.) Glory
4.) Good Morning, Hypocrite
5.) Ether
6.) Bright Mouths
7.) Monsters
8.) Graves and the Infinite Arm
9.) Welcome Home
10.) When It's Black

Handlebars is a pretty catchy song.

For all the Australians, I know we've got quite a few on the site. And some sweet biking to boot.

Not sure if that tag is working, but the link is.

Seems like you got me wrong. Most time its the unknown band which has 100%ly your style is the band you wanted to have.

I don't really understand the whole "your style". If you mean mood, then yes, but that changes obviously.

04 - Nightwish - Dark Chest of Wonders
03 - Gojira - Vacuity

Golden tracks that didn't make it to the list:
01 - The Agonist - Swan Lake (a cappella)
02 - Gojira - 04
03 - God Forbid - Precious Lie
04 - Korn & Disturbed - Forsaken

DISCLAIMER: These tracks are by no means my absolute favourite tracks, I don't walk around remembering each and everyone, I found these by simply checking my collection on the computer, and then taking a quick listen to all the ones that I've marked 5 stars! A lot of my best music isn't even on the computer, but on their respective CDs, thus they are not part of this quick evaluation.

At the moment ->
1. Judas Priest ( Legendary! I love the voice of vocalist and the vocals are awsome. Very good guitar solos and everything)
2. Maj Karma or Herra Ylppö & Ihmiset ( Maj Karma is finnish rock band and Herra Ylppö & Ihmiset is Maj Karma's singer's another band. I like 'em both, good vocals, good vocalist. I like a lot.)
3. Can't say only one for this, there is so damn many bands what I could add here so I say only few: Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Rammstein, Mokoma, InFlames, Sonic Syndicate... I love to listen up good metal.

1) Electronic Music (esp. Trance and House) - lot's of musicians here, maybe Sander Van Doorn is my most favourite of them, love his atmospheric and original style, he never has the tunes, that are even a bit similar... Comp.: Sander's Renegade
2) Dance Music (not Pop, but the music that is close to House, I guess) - Kid Cudi with all his collaborations (I don't think he's a rapper, so)... Comp.: Stromae's Alors on Dance
3) Some Rap composition, but this is the style I like not soooo much :)
Here I can name T-Pain, Timbaland (he's kinda Pop Rap I guess O_O), Lil Wayne, Fat Joe (or whatever - a guy from Terror Squad), X-Zibit (because of the Pimp My Ride TV-show) some others, who I do not remember right now :) Comp.: T-Pain & Teddy Verseti's Church (awesome half-rap, half-dance, half-whatever composition)!

1. Kárpátia, an amazing band. Absolutely no musical talent or adequate performance, but that's what makes it awesome. Just switch your brain off and listen to the nationalism inspires you, cheers you up, helps you fall asleep.
2. Rebel meets Rebel. Pantera+DAC=WIN. Seriously, veterans at making music, combined with elements of country make an enchanting metal musical combination.
3. Landser. Spreads word of love, universal peace, freedom and equality. <3
