Like slight screaming but still rock not metal- Im not sure if Bullet For My Valentine falls under this, but its kind of an on and off rock/scream mix would love some requests like this

Maybe 5 percent of my list is punk, which IS rock music. The 80%, and most likely higher is some form of metal, with some other hard rock bands, indie, and some plain rock bands for the rest.

Tool. They are the greatest band ever in my books. They're hard rock, progressive, and most importantly eargasmic. Listen to their Albums, Undertow (For harder rock, less progressive.), Ænemia (For hard rock and progressive sound.) Lateralus (For still hard rock, but ultimately very progressive.), 10,000 Days (For mostly progressive hard rock with a lot of mellow rock with deep spiritual (Non-religious) lyrics.). and their album Salival (Which is a CD that has live versions of a lot of their songs, and is ultimately their best CD in my opinion, because their live performances are 10x better then their already god-like music. This is mostly progressive, though keeps its hard rock roots.)

Also, Breaking Benjamin is good for this as well, same with Bullets and Octane, Chevelle (Fucking amazing.), and the band Wolfmother is pretty good too.

HEYHEY, I listen mostly to metal (lamb of god, slayer etc) but I think this is really awesome 2:

It's from holland and here people I know call it: "gabber punk". don't know how to translate it, but "Gabbers" are bald people.
And I consider it a part of Rock 'cause people consider punk part of rock.

And I agree, they call punk music "punk rock", so to argue that it isn't rock music, considering its roots and the general sound of the music as a whole, not the mention the instruments used are the same ones that rock musicians use, is just plain stupid.

Thats absolute bullshit, there is punk rock and punk, punk rock is harder.

Punk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ8xUmHuB6Y

Punk Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6NqBFDphm0

Theres absolute no similiarity, Punk Rock is absolutely no punk and doesn't sound like punk at all, it just gives the same message as punk.

And there is metal which is not that hard as slayer or lamb of god... you should really check my list... half of them is hard rock/heavy metal....

Both bands you linked us to sucked, the "punk" one you described more so than the other, but it's hard to judge those bad examples, both of which are German bands.

Also, Slayer and Lamb of God arn't really that hard/heavy. I listen to metal 10x more brutal and heavy then them.

Bloodbane, FYI, screamo isn't a real genre, it's just a made up term coined by people who hear screaming, and simply just named it screamo, and it's stuck and has become a more generalized term for music where the vocalists scream more then anything. I only listen to a small handful of these "screamo" bands, which would fall more under the category of hardcore. My favorite genres of metal are as follow, Black Metal, Death Metal, and Thrash Metal.

Also, HINDYhat is right, go check out Queens of the Stone Age if you havn't already, they're very good as well. You'll also like Modest Mouse if you like Queens of the Stone Age.

Bloodbane7... do you even know what Heavy Metal is? Not screaming at all... Heavy Metal is even less hard as children of bodom...

Look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCf4FtlCKdw <--- Pirate Heavy Metal, Running Wild

Just to make it clear: Lamb of God or Slayer are not heavy metal... they are alternative/thrash metal.

Heavy Metal is mostly normal singing with much guitars in the background.

Black Metal is kind of splitted from death metal and is not that hard as death metal, but involves mostly screaming and growling too.

Death Metal is the hardest genre of metal beside the subgenre of death metal (brutal death metal).

Saken? I give a ****, it was just a example for punk and for punk rock, get it, and somehow you seem like a racist, because your sentence sounded as they were bad because they are german....

Lamb of God is not even close to Thrash, so I'm just going to assume you've no idea what you're talking about when it comes to your two variations of "punk" and "punk rock".

You think I'm racist against Germans? My girlfriend's ancestors are German, I also love German food and history. I simply don't know the language besides maybe the titles I learned from listening to Rammestein. I mentioned that they were German bands for that matter, I coulcn't understand what was being said, therefore I'm already at a point of disliking for the band if I can't understand the language it's being sung in.

Thats sad for you... I don't understand english singers too sometimes, but that does not mean that I don't like them because of that.

Just to tell you: Lamb of God is alternative metal, like i wrote, Slayer is Thrash metal...

I listen for two things strictly when listening to metal:

1.) Vocals. Meaning how unique they are, how powerful the emotion is behind the vocals, and the tone of voice in which it is being carried out in.
• This also includes lyrics. I should be able to understand what is being said, be it the way their singing, or the language in which it's being sung in.

2.) Composition. I listen to hear how each musician is playing. If the drums are heavy, intense, well played, catchy, and something I can tap my feet to, I like it. If the guitar is electrifying, captivating, and something I can tap my fingers to, I like it. If the bass is even noticeable, something I can nod my head to, and get pumped up about, I like it. If they can't even compose their music together and have it coordinated, and it's just all drums and no bass with little guitar, well it's not worth my ears.

You said alternative/thrashmetal. The use of the / inbetween the two genres signifyed to me that you were implying they were both Alternative Metal and Thrash Metal.
