Message from Summer (creator): Due to my lack of ability, I am not able to convert YDWE to jass. I'm sorry that this has caused many skills to not work in many maps. I'm trying to learn jass, and hope one day I'll be able to write some systems in jass that will implement YDWE's features. I hope you enjoy this campaign(though it is not perfect).

This is a campaign from the Chinese warcraft 3 community. Hopefully we can "give back" in the sense that by sharing many campaigns from their community, it will inspire Hiveworkshop creators to make more campaigns, and then the chinese language community can play those campaigns when the Chinese translators bring Hive campaigns to their community (so in this way, they can benefit also).

Important:
Due to the conversion from YDWE, some of the hero skills might not work. This is not a problem with Summer's original campaign, it is just an issue with the conversion to 1.36+.

I have many names in different apps.
Please use the Edit button at the bottom of your posts and add text there instead of writing one post after another of yours unless it's an important update.

Also, that doesn't prove you are who you are here. Please write a message in English on your Carloscarlorie page that you are FKlorde here.
Also, prove you are Summer since the credit is given to that name.

It looks like this site is very strict. If I had to dig deeper, I didn't know how to prove that I was who I was.
Is that enough to prove that I am myself?

Draka's ultimate requires Berserker Upgrade in the first level.

Several cutscenes have a black screen while a character monologues.

Forerunner training tooltips still call them Witch Doctors.

Forerunners is usually used in the sense of "no longer here", maybe call them "Elders" or something?

Spearthrower passive is called Deadly Toxins, upgrade calls it Fatal Toxins.

First level:

No intro cutscene?

Refugees quest: loss of is -> loss is

No one comments on the appearance of a damaged Firelord?

So is it Rag Bloodstorm or Rag Savage Axe?

Interlude

join the us -> join us

Second level, part 2: (not finished yet due to invisible models bug and dogpiling AI)

Loading screen: Norkrar -> Norkar

Can we not have three separate attack waves hitting at the same time?

Second level part 2: ended up wyd this one due to model bugs.

Sidequest:
  • There should be a hint about the sidequest, like "the wolves can smell something coming from behind the trees".
  • There is actually a scorched earth region hidden in these snowy plain... -> There was actually a region of scorched earth hidden in these snowy plains...

End cutscene: Why the /* and */ at each line?

Interlude:

recognized Draenei -> recognized Draka

During the last part, the camera ends up inside a tree.

Drek'Thar's second and third abilities do nothing and should be replaced.

Third level: Had to wyd this one too, pretty much everything not an orc or fire/wind elemental was invisible on loading. That said, there should be some ranged units to rescue.

Berserker Skeletal Orc -> Skeletal Orc Berserker

The lowest-level skeletal orcs often don't attack, just run around.

Mutated Fire Elemental -> Maybe Defiled instead.

The spirits should say something when you approach/defeat them.

Fourth level: model bugs -> wyd, although I probably would have ended up using it anyway, I do not like "let's just dump enemies on the player" as a replacement for "let's make the map challenging".

Draka's ultimate needs Berserker Upgrade again.

Enemy forces have no names.

There's a constant red ping on the bottom of the map, it should be revealed in FoW instead.

The base definitely needs an item shop.

Reunion cutscene: Thing's -> Things

Dark Lord has no faction name (and could use a better name). It also drops another Glyph of Omniscience.

Fixed the grammar/spelling/missing translations Cleavinghammer mentioned.

Thought I would add some notes I wrote down from when I first played this campaign:

Intro/Ch1
It really feels like a novel, which is great. The dialogue between the characters is engaging and sets up well the future challenges the Frostwolves will face. The first mission where your objective is just to reach Drek'Thar was simple but letting us explore the camp and fight nearby enemies made the map interesting. Did not like the infernal dropping down in ch1 after fighting past all the Ogres.

Interlude/Duel
Seeing Gul'dan trying to convince other Orcs to join the Horde was a very fresh experience, since most campaigns that we see him in show him already in a position of power, whereas here he is still Ner'zhul's apprentice doing diplomacy tasks, so he is not the all-powerful Warlock that he later becomes. The duel scene with Nokrar was good, since it highlighted how not everyone will just follow a leader; the reality is there will be different opinions in the clan and might not have agreed with Durotan's decision to reject Gul'dan's proposal.

Ch2/Interlude
This RTS mission was harder than the final RTS mission, since at this point our heroes still do not have access to good items, and we are against multiple enemy bases. Was forced to mass demolishers and then was lucky to have a gap in their attacks and destroyed their bases 1 by 1. The optional quest was not apparent at all, and if people do not use the vision cheat, they would probably never know about the side quest.
There should have been a hint to pass items from Durotan to Draka, since if Durotan has all the items here, then in Ch3 he and Drek'Thar do not have enough room for all the good items they find, while Draka could be left facing those enemies in the final RTS mission by herself with no items if they are not passed to here in this mission, at least until Drek'Thar and Durotan reach her.

During the interlude, the camera shot of the heroes looking over the burning forests was a really good cinematic scene.

Ch3
Lots of good items, but because of the YDWE issues in the conversion, we miss a lot of extra content that the original map had.

Ch4
The Red Walker Chieftain's explanation of how their clan started their decent into animals was quite sad. The parallels between their clan and the Frostwolf clan, both of which has rejected Gul'dan's offer, was quite obvious, and I felt it that if circumstances were slightly different, the Frostwolf clan could also have easily turned into savages like the Red Walkers.

As for this mission, the enemy AI stops attacking after Durotan and Drek'Thar reach the Frostwolf camp, which made is easier than it should have been. Also, the ping on the map for where Durotan and Drek'Thar needed to reach for the first part of the mission was happening at too high of a frequency, in my opinion.

General Points
The campaign felt like reading a novel, which is fantastic. It also showed a time in Warcraft history that we rarely see in campaigns; that era before the Horde came to Azeroth. Overall, it was a great campaign.

just completed this beautiful campaign. beyond what was mentioned above, a few pointers from me:
1) peak of elements: the elemental fragments should either behave like runes (ie disappear when pickedup) or combine into a single item.
2) final cutscene: why is there a "4th" hero? aka the hero-sized black shaman with hero glow standing together with the other heroes.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

I decided to start my little walkthrough of this campaign. Will share my humble review soon.

Well...
My humble review will be directed towards both translator and author...
  • Please - don't make the final boss with ankhs of reincarnation anymore. He is barely killable with your forces, even with fully leveled and geared heroes. It's not funny. It's frustration. It is not fun. It kills any fun. If the boss is difficult, he shouldn't simply hit like a truck and resurrect after death.
  • Lorewise, I cannot say anything, but am I right that this red-skinned clan is basically the story of the Bonechewer clan?
  • Dreka with vampirism and her wolves are crazy. Especially summoning so many free units with critical strikes and decent power? Hell yeah!
  • Half of Drek'thar's spells didn't work. Worked only first and ultimate (?). Probably this is an error due to translation, as the author probably made them in Chinese-modified WorldEditor.
  • Enemy AI is quite quirky. The third mission shows a very malicious AI even on "easy" difficulty. Last mission AI - does he exist?
Overall story kept me hooked, but the last chapter with the final boss dropped my impression.
Sadly, balance can ruin the experience, aren't it?
