Flaccid Assist v1.60a

Genre: Tug-of-War, AI vs AI, Meme Strategy
Players: 1-4
Game Mode: FFA

Description:
Not quite Direct Strike, but certainly an indirect struggle. In Flaccid Assist, your AI fights the battle you just hire the right hero, press a few buttons, and pray. This tug-of-war map blends strategy, automation, and chaos into a single package.

Noticing how many players struggle with micro especially those coming from WoW I’ve created a custom map designed for a more relaxed but strategic experience.

Your role? Guide your forces to glory (or inevitable doom) by recruiting a hero, supporting your troops, and adapting to the ever-changing battlefield. With a mix of Warcraft III’s classic RTS mechanics and some unexpected twists, this map delivers a fresh take on automated warfare.

Features:
  • WoW-inspired map environment & creeps (Swamp of Sorrows: Sunken Temple)
  • Lazy but Strategic Gameplay – Your army marches on its own, but your choices define their success.
  • Hero Recruitment – Pick your champion from one of two Taverns: neutral or race-specific.
  • Evolving AI Battles – Watch as armies clash dynamically, with scaling difficulty and new threats emerging.
  • Weather Effects & Combat Feedback – Lightning strikes, additional audio and visual effects add to the atmosphere.
  • Stackable Charged Items – Because inventory management should be satisfying, not tedious.
  • Unique Permanent Items – Makes your item decisions even more exciting.

Current Status:
Ongoing playtests, active balancing, and feature updates based on feedback. Jump in, break things, and share your thoughts!

Upcoming Features:
  • Reign of Chaos Event – At the 20-minute mark, Infernals will rain down from the sky. Defeat them to claim powerful Artifact Items inspired by Rexxar’s Campaign.
  • Goblin Laboratory Integration – Introduces Shredders and Sappers into the gameplay loop. Players can also trade gold for AI-controlled lumber, boosting their economy.
  • Quest System Overhaul – A structured quest and reward system that incentivizes players to progress alongside their AI allies tech-tree.
  • Expanded Map Info – All tweaks and mechanics are now easily accessible in-game for better clarity and quick reference.

While the AI is nice and all, the gameplay is a bit pointless considering you could do this in a regular melee match but also have control over your troops. Approved. If you want more reviews, you should participate in the The Grand Review...

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Tried this and I like this idea, however, this being very melee-ish while only having one hero to control feels very lackluster. I think utilizing custom heroes, as well as having AI support for playable one hero would add a lot to the immersion. Adding more playable race option is also one way to work with it, but making sure the new races are balanced is going to be a very delicate matter.

As for me, I played with Firelord with Human as the race. It takes some time to get the hang of things, but once you do the snowball effect rapidly improves. I find Goblin Merchant useless besides the reveal, but probably that is because of the food.

Thanks for taking the time to play and leave a review. 🙂

You're right — the gameplay can feel a bit limited. It’s essentially a melee match with less control, focused on just one hero, which may come off as underwhelming.

The design choice here was intentional: to create a low-pressure experience for players coming from games like LoL, Dota, or WoW. Something simple and relaxing — one-hand-on-the-mouse, tea-sipping kind of play — where decisions revolve around a single hero, keeping it accessible.

That said, we know the current version (1.60) has issues with immersion and pacing. Here's what's coming up:

Upcoming Features:
  • Reign of Chaos Event – At 20 minutes, Infernals drop. Defeat them to earn powerful Artifacts inspired by Rexxar’s Campaign.
  • Goblin Laboratory Integration – Adds Shredders and Sappers, plus the option to trade gold for AI-controlled lumber to boost your economy.
  • Quest System Overhaul – New structured quests tied to AI ally progression and tech-tree rewards.
  • Expanded Map Info – All mechanics and tweaks will be clearly visible in-game for easier understanding.

Appreciate the feedback — it's being taken into account for future updates!
