People, I am willing to host another mini contest. But I would like you to suggest some themes. So, if you have any, feel free to post them here.

Note that I will not become inactive like the last contest. The spells will be evaluated and judged properly when the contest ends.

why the hell are we discussing about new themes when the old contest was such a fail? i will definetely not participate in another one.

There were some problems ... OK ... but if you do not want to participate in another one your problem ...

Yes, you do put work in computer things, and imo that's the most enjoyable part of the contest - to create your spell ;|
But there are people for which the only thing to care about is being the winner.

@Themes
We could remake some old contests - using the old themes, but with a twist, etc. Just so that we wont rip off older entries.

So far I would vote for abilitizing a unit and remake of original spell. I know they are kinda boring, but they havent been in any previous contest anyway.
Also, diseases sound interesting.

i do not really care about it. but it sucks, because even in computer things you put work...

Likewise, it's not our problem. If you don't give a shit about it, then don't post such pointless comments in here.

Edit: By the way, did I have an option? Hanky had the results somewhere on his pc, and he have moved on and will not be active anymore at all. What do you think I should do? Review them again? I was not even the judge in the first place...

Raft, yeah, I was thinking that we could take use of the "Double" theme (or what it was called). Combining two themes into one spells was popular last time it was ran.

I have it too, which is why I am saying the true facts. If you want to speak with me about this further if you think you will get something out of it, don't do it here, please.

Umm well, yeah I think there should be a spell contest sometime soon, but let's wait till schools are over since not only me, but also other members here are having final exams these 2/3 weeks...

As for the theme, I don't have anything in mind, but let it be something creative... I think combination would be a good idea, but let's brainstorm a bit more.

It seems like people desire to have it two or three weeks from now on. If you aren't too eager, I will remember that time. Besides, we got more time to think of a good theme (or I'll just pick a random one;)

How about an automated system theme...
By this I mean automating areas of gameplay that are normally done manually.

2 Examples.
A target aquisition system for tower defenses which uses smart target selection for the most weak or oldest or youngest units, instead of just the closest.
Or an automated lumbermill which spawns 1-4 lumberjacks which automatically start gathering wood and are unselectable.

hmmm ... yeah ... good point ... we should *think* >.<

Btw was there ever a theme like "chance" ... you know like making auras ?

Not all auras have to be "chance". I think we have had chance before (like Just Spectacting said), as alot of the spells for the theme "surprise" when we had it, turned out to be chancebased

futuristic [e.g. sonic blasts, sonic nova, cargin mah lazah...]
Animation based [e.g. Blademasted/Demon hunter... have some nice animations, and do whatever out of it]

Futuristic might work too but I'd call it "Supernatural" rather.
The animation based suggestion is actually a nice idea, but probably with another name. And if it is what I think you meant it could be like:
Specific (or another name): Each contestant must create a spell suitable for a specific model given.

[leech] - The spell will retain health or mana upon hitting a unit
[dependent] - depending on the amount of damage received, or gained, an effect will occur
[buff] - places a buff on a unit that will have a triggered effect for a limited amount of occurrences
"Steal" is something we have had before. Im not saying we cant have those again ofc.
Dependant sounds like a "Combo" of some kind for me. Depending on the amount of points you've added, the spell will do different things or effects. I guess an example of this could be the Assassin spell in Diablo2: Phoenix Strike? http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/skills/assassin-martialarts.shtml#phoenixstrike
Buff, well, would work I guess

Works as well._.

[Block] - creates a barricade of some sort to block the collision of units from walking. (like Earthshaker's Fissure from dota)

By other words, some kind of a stun?

---

My suggestion would come along with Berz Animation Specs one. But maybe making it a "double"? Not only should it fit he model, but a secondary theme is consistent as well. I could imagine all mentioned above...

d.d joke? The hero contest was to design a hero with 4 spells like a custom melee hero...

Anywho, before this contest would ever get started, Ill need to look through the rules of the contest. Somewhat since the spell rules are changing, these rules must change as well.
