Story so far in the World of Azeroth:
With the defeat of the Kingdom of Azeroth, the few survivors fled to seek refuge on their neighbor lands to find new homes for the people who lost their homes to the Horde threat and tell the leaders of the new land the terrible menace they faced and fought.
With their victory as well the Horde, had few mishaps.
Gul'dan while he was collecting information from Medivh's dieing mind, he slipped into a coma and this was the perfect time for Orgrim to strike and put his plan into motion.
Without the faithful warlocks to help him, Blackhand was killed for his crimes serving the Shadowmoon Council and each of the dark spellcasters were hunted down and only a few remained.
Exposed and weak from his coma he cowardly witnessed Orgrim's plan for him and his few remaining followers, and Gul'dan promised royal followers to aid Orgrim in his plans for conquering Azeroth.
Gul'dan promised servants of dark magic and power that will only serve him to their end of times. Using his powers and the very group that helped him, Gul'dan was able to create Death Knights.
Terrors of darkness and by using the fallen bodies of the Azeroth Knights, Gul'dan was able to create a whole of them.
Soon Gul'dan set his plans into motion as well, and promised Orgrim his loyalty to him, and his was willing to follow the human survivors into the new land.
Then the Horde chased after the Stormwind survivors from their crafted fleet and soon it began the tale of the World of Warcraft: Destruction of Azeroth.
Heroes of the Alliance:
ORCS & HUMANS
Medivh; The Last Guardian
Magus or Magna Medivh was the last Guardian of Tirisfal, an ancient line of protectors bestowed with great powers to do battle with the agents of the Burning Legion.
He was corrupted even before birth, and possessed by the spirit of the demonlord Sargeras who used Medivh in his plan to conquer Azeroth.
Medivh contacted the orcish warlock, Gul'dan, and together they opened the Dark Portal, which allowed the Burning Legion to begin its destruction of Azeroth. He was slain shortly after by a party led by one of his friends, Lothar.
Alonsus Faol; Arch Bishop of Northshire
Alonsus Faol was the head of the Holy Order of Northshire Clerics prior to the First War between the humans and orcs.
Following the terrible attrition suffered by his clerics in that conflict and the destruction of Northshire Abbey, the aged Faol fled with the surviving citizens of Stormwind to Lordaeron.
Aided by his apprentice, Uther Lightbringer, Faol refounded the Order as the Knights of the Silver Hand, this time equipping the followers of the Holy Light in the armaments of war. Alonsus Chapel, in Stratholme, was the site where he anointed Uther as the first of the paladins.
Varian Wrynn; Prince of Stormwind and Future Ruler of Stormwind
Varian Wrynn was born to King Llane Wrynn in the Kingdom of Azeroth and as a youth lived a joyful and prosperous life as prince of Stormwind. But all that changed when the orcs appeared from beyond the Dark Portal and attempted to destroy his homeland, thus ushering in the First War between his beloved Kingdom of Azeroth and the Horde.
Anduin Lothar, the Champion of Stormwind, rallied his countrymen and armies and gutted out a desperate attempt to hold the Horde at bay and to keep them away from King Llane, Varian, and Stormwind. While Lothar enjoyed some small success in holding back the Horde, his efforts were dashed when Garona Halforcen, who had become an ally to Stormwind, betrayed King Llane under orders from the Shadow Council and cut his heart out, giving it to Gul'dan. Varian could only watch helplessly as his father was murdered and the Horde overran his kingdom, burning its homes and slaughtering all who stood in their way.[7] The death of his father affected him greatly, his later closest friend Arthas Menethil recalls him looking weary and ragged when he first sees him, and says that he'd "lost absolutely everything but his life." [8]
Anduin Lothar, convinced that Stormwind could not be retaken, gathered Varian and all who remained in the city and led an escape from their homeland. Narrowly escaping by boat into the sea, they headed North while Lothar gathered his thoughts aboard his ship. Consulting with Varian and the Kirin Tor mage Khadgar, they determined that in order to preserve humanity from annihilation by the Horde they would need to warn King Terenas, ruler of Lordaeron, of the danger that loomed on the horizon.
After landing at the port of Southshore Lothar gathered Prince Varian along with Khadgar and several knights and marched towards Lordaeron. Upon arriving young Varian was greeted by King Terenas, who treated him as an equal king despite Varian's young age. King Terenas quickly offered him his pledge to stand by him until his homeland was retaken and invited him to stay with him for as long as he was willing. Although at first Varian was slightly shy being in a Kingdom he had never seen before, he quickly overcame his timidity and Varian found King Terenas' son Arthas Menethil, who was just a few years younger than he, as a great new friend and the two quickly formed a close friendship. Shortly after he began staying in Lordaeron, King Terenas formed the Alliance of Lordaeron. Under the command of Anduin Lothar, its supreme commander, this alliance was finally able to put an end to the Horde reign during the Second War. However, the victory came at a great price as Anduin Lothar was killed shortly before the war ended and would not live to see the retaking of his Kingdom of Stormwind.
King Llane Wrynn; King of Stormwind -Mentioned
Llane Wrynn I was the ruler of the Kingdom of Azeroth during the First War. He was the child of King Adamant Wrynn III and Lady Varia, and the father of King Varian Wrynn. He is also the grandfather of Prince Anduin Wrynn.
Llane was born in the year 564 by the accounting of years formerly used in that kingdom. In 577, Llane reached to the Age of Ascension and was given the full title Prince of Azeroth. During the evening feast arranged to honor the young Prince, the great wizard Medivh, who had been absent from events of the world for years, interrupted, announcing his return to the world and giving an obsidian hourglass to Llane, symbolizing Azeroth's unending prosperity. The sands in the glass ran, but the top half never emptied into the lower half.
Six years later, Llane awoke in ordinary morning to find to his horror that the hourglass had almost completely emptied. As the last grain fell, an attack on Stormwind Keep by the orcs began. Although the orc attack was repulsed, this marked the beginning of the First War that would last for years. Llane was sent with his mother to Northshire Abbey away from potential danger by his father, who in turn began to lead the battle against the orcs.
The next year, his father, King Adamant Wrynn III died, and at the age of twenty, Llane was pronounced King of Azeroth and continued the battle against the orcs for ten relatively successful years, during which the invaders were held back to the Swamp of Sorrows.
Ten years later, Llane was visited by a mysterious stranger who revealed herself to be Aegwynn, the mother of Medivh. She revealed that Medivh was behind the arrival of the orcs into the kingdom, warning that Azeroth would eventually have to deal with him.
Following the rise of Blackhand as Warchief, the war turned badly against Stormwind. Sensing that the final confrontation was at hand, Llane prepared to rally the armies of Azeroth against the orcs. Garona Halforcen was a close friend of Llane, but also secretly an agent of the Horde. As the orcs besieged Stormwind itself, Garona (under mental control of the orc Shadow Council) sorrowfully assassinated the beloved king and took his heart to the head of the Council, the warlock Gul'dan. Garona knew from a vision she had seen in Karazhan that she was fated to kill one of the few men who accepted her for what she was, and thus it was King Llane's assassin who mourned him most of all.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Magna Aegwynn; Mother of Medivh and Guardian of Azeroth -Mentioned
Matriarch of Tirisfal, was the penultimate second-to-last Guardian of Tirisfal and is recognized as one of the greatest Guardians. She is also the mother of the sorcerer Medivh.
The Order of Tirisfal was originally forged to protect the world from demonic corruption of magic (namely by the Burning Legion) — and these Guardians were given considerable power and longevity. The Order was kept as a secret amongst only the greatest magi. But over time, the Guardian became a puppet of the Order, and the focus was lost. When Aegwynn became the Guardian, however, she refused to be manipulated. She remained focused on the matter at hand — the demonic powers at play in Azeroth. The same hubris that led to the Guardian's diminishing caused their downfall.
Aegwynn served as the Guardian of Tirisfal for almost 500 years. Following the end of her reign, she would eventually serve as Jaina Proudmoore's chamberlain for a time near the end of her life. Aegwynn is recognized as one of the greatest sorcerers of all time.
Commander Borton; One of King Llane's Royalists -Mentioned in Flashback
Was part of the forces defending Stormwind City during the First War. King Llane commanded him as the city was under attack by orcs. He was the last whom King Llane issued an order to, shortly before getting assassinated by the Shadow Council spy, the half-orc Garona.
TIDES OF DARKNESS
Sir Anduin Lothar; Lion of Azeorth
Sired and raised in the Kingdom of Azeroth, Anduin Lothar has spent well-nigh all of his fifty-seven years in service to the lands he calls home.
A proud and noble warrior, Lothar was accredited a position within the King's Honor Guard at a considerably early age.
After becoming a Knight and rising to the position of Armsman to the Brotherhood of the Horse, he undertook a quest to seek out the Tome of Divinity - a task which all but killed him.
Upon returning the sacred writing to the Clerics of Northshire, Sir Lothar led the armies of Azeroth into battle against the Orcish Horde.
As the Horde ultimately ravaged the Kingdom of Azeroth and killed its advocate, King Llane, Lothar rallied his countrymen and charted their retreat across the Great Sea - and onto the shores of Lordaeron.
Uther Lightbringer; First Paladin of Azeroth
Apprentice to the aged Archbishop Alonsus Faol who was the leader of the Holy Order of Northshire Clerics that guided the kingdom of Azeroth during the First War, Uther Lightbringer learned first hand that faith alone would not defeat the terrible Horde.
Many of the Clerics were slain during the First War, and so the Archbishop devoted himself to rebuilding the Order as to provide the citizens of Lordaeron with hope and faith.
Knowing that this war with the unholy Orcs could not end soon, Uther discerned that the Archbishop's new Order must be able to defend the people as well as heal them.
Thus, young Uther took up sword and shield and issued the call to the most pious amongst the Knights of Lordaeron.
Many great Knights heeded Uther's beckoning and joined the Order which became known as the Knights of the Silver Hand. With the strength of arms - and faith - possessed by these Paladins, Uther hopes to bear witness to the free people of the Northlands that the Orcish Horde can be cast back into the stygian pits that spawned them.
Tirion Fordring; Paladin of the Silverhand
As the governor of the Alliance principality of Hearthglen, Tirion lived a comfortable life, well-respected by his subjects and loved by his wife Karanda and son Taelan.
Both a great warrior and a just ruler, Tirion was renowned throughout the Kingdom of Lordaeron. In spite of his acclaimed military prowess, Tirion's experience as a paladin during the orcish invasions had taught him to value peace.
He soon became one of the first five Knights of the Silver Hand selected by Archbishop Alonsus Faol, and was one of the heroes of the Second War.
He later became Lord of Mardenholde Keep in Hearthglen before being stripped of his title and exiled for defending an orc, Eitrigg. Following the recent death of his son Taelan Fordring, Tirion committed himself to refounding the order of the Silver Hand. He now leads the Argent Crusade, an organization consisting of the old Knights of the Silver Hand and the Argent Dawn, against the Lich King and the Scourge. To this day he remains good friends with the orc veteran Eitrigg.
Terenas Menethil II; King of Lordaeron
After the First War, refugees from the Kingdom of Azeroth arrived on the shores of Lordaeron, giving warnings of the orcs and the invasion that was to come.
Terenas called delegates from neighboring nations, and, after hearing the horror stories from Anduin Lothar and his people, they agreed to forge the Alliance of Lordaeron.
Terenas led the forces of Lordaeron in valiant battle against the onslaught of Horde. The Second War was taxing upon the Alliance and all in it. Terenas even commanded the battle "The Fall of Lordaeron" where his kingdom was almost destroyed by the Horde.
But in the end, their sacrifices were not in vain, and the Alliance won through, decimating the Horde and rounding up the surviving orcs into internment camps, headed by Aedelas Blackmoore. The orc Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer was kept as the personal prisoner of Terenas, but he eventually escaped captivity and fled into hiding.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Daelin Proudmoore; Sea King of Kul Tiras
Proudmoore led the island nation of Kul Tiras in the Second War, and it was Kul Tiras who funded much of the armada of the Alliance. After the First War, orcs began to attack coastal settlements in Kul Tiras and the surrounding shores of Lordaeron and Khaz Modan. And with his longtime friend Anduin Lothar at his side, Proudmoore wouldn’t back down from a fight.
Pronounced Lord of all the Alliance’s mighty fleets, Proudmoore led the naval assault on the orcs, destroying their forces on land, sea, and air, while managing the oil refineries in Stratholme, which provided the main node of resources for the navy. He lost his eldest son, Derek, and everyone on board the six ships of the Third Fleet when they were attacked by dragons
Muradin Bronzebeard; Explorers' Guild Founder
During the Second War, Muradin served as official liaison between Lordaeron and Khaz Modan, and accompanied the Alliance armies shortly before the battles at Blackrock Spire and the Dark Portal. During that time period he grew close to the Royal Family, and befriended the young Prince Arthas. As Arthas grew up, Muradin took it upon himself to teach the lad all he knew about fighting with blades and the two became close companions on many adventures.
Muradin was also one of the founding members of the dwarven Explorers' Guild, which was dedicated to exploration and archaeology across the world. In his travels, Muradin visited Northrend and became fascinated with the desolate continent. He returned to it often, observing its ferocious natives and sketching its ruined architecture.
Brann Bronzebeard; Explorers' Guild Founder
Brann Bronzebeard is the youngest of the three Bronzebeard brothers, with King Magni Bronzebeard and Muradin Bronzebeard being his elders. Brann is an active member of the Explorers' League, following closely in the footsteps of his brother Muradin.
One of the greatest explorers to ever wander the lands of Azeroth, Brann is recognized and welcomed across the known world. The warm, courageous dwarf has made friends and acquaintances in nearly every charted land - and presumably those uncharted as well. Brann has spent many years mapping out the remote corners and hidden nooks of the Eastern Kingdoms for his beloved Explorers' Guild. With the recent discovery of Kalimdor, Brann is one of the first dwarves to tread the unknown paths of the ancients.
Kael'thas Sunstrider; Prince of Quel'thals and one of the Six
Kael'thas Sunstrider was a senior member of the Kirin Tor and the Prince of Quel'Thalas, the last of the Sunstrider Dynasty and he was a powerful mage and member of the Six, the shadowy high council of the Kirin Tor. Prior to the Second War, he and the other members of the high council questioned Khadgar about the orcs and the events in Karazhan that led to the death of Medivh.
A wizard of great skill and power, Kael became a high-ranking member of the Kirin Tor. His continuing magical studies brought him to the Violet Citadel, where he met Lady Jaina Proudmoore while she was still an apprentice. He was immediately drawn to the brilliant and lovely teenager, though the difference between their ages filled him with guilt and self-doubt. Eventually he courted her; however, he had little success in winning her regard. She remained dedicated to her craft above all else.
When rumors began to circulate that Jaina had given her heart to Prince Arthas Menethil, Kael'thas was deeply grieved. In time Jaina and Arthas parted ways, but it was all too obvious to Kael'thas that they still cherished feelings for one another. Kael'thas and Jaina would never have more than an awkward friendship.
Marcus Redpath; Headman of Southshore
Marcus Redpath was the headman of Southshore prior to the onset of the Second War, greeting Anduin Lothar, Khadgar, and the refugees from the Kingdom of Stormwind. He sent his fastest rider, Willem, to King Terenas to alert him to their arrival. He is possibly related to Joseph, Carlin, and Marlene Redpath.
Derek Proudmoore; Kul Tiras Ship Commander
Derek Proudmoore was the first son of Grand Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, and elder sibling of Tandred and Jaina. Being the eldest son, Derek was first in line to inherit the Merchant-Kingdom of Kul Tiras.
During the Second War, Derek was in command of a destroyer in the Third Fleet, accompanying his father in battle against the orcish navy. Without warning, they came under attack by dragon riders in the service of the Horde. Though he attempted to warn his father of the danger, Derek was incinerated by one of the dragons as he stood on top of the crow's nest. His boat was sent to the bottom shortly thereafter.
BEYOND THE DARK PORTAL
Turalyon; General of the Expedition of Draenor
General Turalyon is a exalted veteran of the second war and was second-in-command of the Alliance forces and, as such, Anduin Lothar's successor as Supreme Commander of the Alliance army.
After Lothar's fall at the Battle of Blackrock Spire, Turalyon took up Stormwind's torn standard and Lothar's broken sword and lead the Alliance to victory, and rallied the army of the Alliance to victory over the Horde, eventually capturing Doomhammer, and driving the orcs back to the Dark Portal. As the Lion's lieutenant, Turalyon was named Lothar's successor as Supreme Commander by the other (loyal) members of the Alliance and enforced half of the Horde through the Dark Portal and bringing the other half to it's knees.
Since that day, Turalyon has been haunted by Lothar's death, which he believed was his fault.
Khadgar; Wizard of Dalaran
Is one of the most powerful wizards to have ever lived. He was the apprentice for the Last Guardian, Medivh, and went on to become one of the greatest heroes of the Alliance during the Second War and as a commander of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor, and his name is dwarven and means "trust". This gave him an odd dichotomy with Medivh, whose name means "keeper of secrets" in Thalassian.
Following Medivh's death and the fall of Stormwind to the orcs, Khadgar fled north with Lord Lothar and the rest of the refugees to Lordaeron. He spent the Second War fighting with the Alliance of Lordaeron, all the while studying Medivh's spells and the nature of the Dark Portal.
When the tide of the war turned and the Alliance managed to push the Horde back to the Portal itself, Khadgar attempted to destroy the Dark Portal, effectively severing the link between Azeroth and Draenor. The rift between worlds remained, however. To guard against a second attack from Draenor, Khadgar oversaw the construction of Nethergarde Keep in the Blasted Lands.
Alleria Windrunner; Expert Ranger of the Expedition
Alleria Windrunner is the eldest of the Windrunner sisters, all of whom have served Quel'Thalas and the Alliance with distinction. She also had a younger brother.
Alleria always wore a necklace given to her by her parents, an exquisite piece containing an emerald, a ruby, and a sapphire.
When the Horde invaded Lordaeron, Anduin Lothar called upon the ancient debt the Sunstriders owed the Arathi bloodline. The ruling council of Quel'Thalas, seeing the Horde as more of an excuse to fulfill that debt than an actual threat, sent a small force of elves to assist the Alliance of Lordaeron.
Alleria was one of the few in Quel'Thalas who believed that the Horde might pose a threat to the elves, and consequently chose to lead her rangers to Southshore to join the Alliance of Lordaeron, despite not being ordered to do so.
Kurdran Wildhammer; Gryphon Rider of Northeron
Was the Chief Thane of the Wildhammer Clan, and the Hinterlands During the Second War, the Orcish Horde led by Orgrim Doomhammer invaded the Wildhammer homeland. Kurdran was one of the first dwarves to spot the invaders and initiate battle. Soon he was aided by the forces of the Alliance of Lordaeron, and together they fought the bloodthirsty horde.
Kurdran pledged his and his kingdom's aid to Anduin Lothar after the human Alliance aided them in forcing the invading orcs and forest trolls out of their homeland.
Kurdran and his loyal steed, the gryphon Sky'ree, became legendary during the war, battling over land and sea as well as the air; lending aid to Lordaeron and Quel'thalas. He left the Second War with nine slain dragons to his credit. After the war ended, Kurdran remained with the Alliance as a scout, his service proving invaluable to the Alliance war effort.
Danath Trollbane; Stromgarde Militia Captain
Danath is the nephew of Thoras Trollbane, Lord of Stromgarde, and militia commander of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor. He is also known as "Danath Dungalion".
A mercenary captain from the Stromgarde militia at the beginning of the Second War, Danath was made famous for leading the armies of Stromgarde in the final fight for Khaz Modan.
His status as a great general and fighter elevated him to the position of Overseer at the orcish internment camp system in Azeroth, based at New Stormwind.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Nemuraan; Keeper of the Dead in Auchindoun
Was one of the survivors of the War between the Orcs and the Draenei and loathe the orcs bitterly. He and a group of surviving Draenei took refuge in the halls of Auchindoun.
He later discovered Grizzik, an arakkoa leading group of new creatures he had never seen before.
Nemuraan demanded an explanation for the intrusion and used his powers to learn the new comers' language. Their leader Danath Trollbane explained that they were an alliance of races from another world and have come to end the orcish threat.
After some considering, Nemuraan believed them though he was still unwilling to show his people's hideout and offered to aid the Alliance forces in freeing their friend Kurdran Wildhammer by summoning the ghosts of the Draenei army that had fallen during the war. He was at first worried about upsetting his new allies but they readily agreed to his delight. Their combined forces stormed Auchindoun and rescued the dwarf, but he was badly wounded.
Thalressar; Alleria's Great Rangers
Thalressar was one of the elven lieutenants serving under Alleria Windrunner during the Alliance Expedition's invasion of Draenor. With Verana's return to Quel'Thalas, Thalressar presumably took up the mantle of Alleria's right hand. When Alleria followed Khadgar to the Blade's Edge Mountains, Thalressar was left in charge of her high elves. Alongside Danath, Herrick and Rellian, Thalressar hunted Ner'zhul through Terokkar Forest.
After the disaster in which Kurdran was captured, Thalressar played a key role in proposing the construction of Allerian Stronghold, and had the location marked. He proclaimed the founding of the keep, as a symbol of the alliance between high elves, humans and dwarves, and to mark the sacrifices of the Wildhammer clan. An arakkoa by the name of Grizzik was captured shortly after, as he had been following the expedition. He promised to guide the Alliance into Auchindoun, where Ner'zhul was hiding. There they encountered one of the last draenei, Nemuraan. Nemuraan assisted Thalressar, Danath and Rellian by allowing them to use seldom travelled passages, and he invoked the ghosts of dead draenei to assist the Alliance in their ambush against the orcs and their new allies, the Cabal of Vorpil. Thalressar fought valiantly, and helped rescue Kurdran.
It is unsure whatever happened to him since the events in which Ner'zhul opened the various portals, but Captain Auric Sunchaser now leads Allerian Stronghold. Auric is presumably his successor.
In all likelihood, Thalressar is dead, or he is now in the company of Alleria and Turalyon, having vanished along with them to wherever it is they now tread.
Thalressar was a lethal ally, revealing a preference for duty over morality. His was a perspective keen on calculated justice of a more subtle sort. He occassionally disagreed with Danath, and even after an arguement, Danath would be unsure if Thalressar's trademark tone was either sarcastic or honest but Danath liked him for it. It was Thalressar's pride and passion which stood out when the time was right. He bore a hatred against the Horde which he gained due to the attack on Quel'Thalas. Like Alleria, he seeks some matter of closure for all that has transpired. He was also a strong believer in the Alliance, and spoke of the combined strength of human, dwarf and elf.
The arakkoa Grizzik's nickname for Thalressar was 'Long Ears' which Danath found very amusing.
Verana; Alleria's Great Rangers
Was the right hand of Alleria Windrunner during the Alliance Expedition's incursion against Ner'zhul and the united orc clans. On the eve of the crossing through the Dark Portal, Alleria came to Verana and asked of her to do her a great service. Alleria explained that it was evident that there was a great risk that she might die in her campaign, and wanted Verana to deliver pendants to Sylvanas and Vereesa. Verana promised to keep them instead, awaiting Alleria's return so that she could give them to the sisters herself. With that, she departed for Quel'Thalas.
Eventually, she gave one of the pendants to Sylvanas, who lost it during her final stand at a spire formerly located somewhere between the Elrendar River and Fairbreeze Village. The Lady's Necklace was one day to be recovered from anguished undead that had taken it to Windrunner Spire, the Ranger-General's former home.
Heroes of the Horde:
ORCS & HUMANS
Blackhand the Destroyer; Warchief of the Horde
A Raider of the Sythegore Arm, and one of the most respected warriors in the Horde, Blackhand became the renowned chieftain of the powerful Blackrock clan on Draenor. Known as a tactical genius and a ruthless dictator who demanded respect from his warriors, his ego and lust for power made him very easy to manipulate — a fact which Gul'dan discovered very quickly.
Through political manipulation and by stoking the embers of Blackhand's ego, Gul'dan was able to convince the Blackrock chieftain that he was a respected equal in the warlock's dark scheme, both the public leader of the Horde and a member of the secret Shadow Council; he was in fact merely a means to an end for the evil warlock.
He soon meant his end at his trusted second, Orgrim Doomhammer and took over Horde.
Rend Blackhand; Son of Blackhand and Chieftain of the Black Tooth Grin Clan
Rend and his brother and sister had a short childhood due to Warlocks aging of children, but unlike other Orc parents Blackhand was happy to put forward his children first for artificial aging. After 'coming of age' Rend served with the other members of the First Horde in the fight to exterminate the Draenei.
During the Second War, Rend served as lieutenant to Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer. He and his brother Maim often questioned Doomhammer's orders, as Orgrim killed Blackhand the Destroyer and took his place as Warchief. However, Orgrim allowed the insubordination because the two brothers were leaders of the powerful Black Tooth Grin clan.
During the siege of the Capital City of Lordaeron, Rend was ordered by Doomhammer to have his clan break off and chase after the traitorous Gul'dan, who had taken to the sea in search of the Eye of Sargeras.[5]
Rend and Maim later personally fought Turalyon at the Dark Portal, only to flee when it became evident that the paladin had the upper hand.
Rend and Maim took control of the remaining Blackrock orcs and began to rebuild the Horde at Blackrock Spire. About two years later, the Dark Portal reopened and emissaries from Ner'zhul were immediately sent to Rend and Main asking them to rejoin the Horde, and to ask to borrow the red dragons held captive by the allied Dragonmaw clan. Rend refused.
Maim Blackhand; Son of Blackhand and Chieftain of the Black Tooth Grin Clan
Maim Blackhand was the son of former warchief Blackhand the Destroyer, brother of Rend Blackhand and Griselda.
After their father’s assassination, Maim and his brother Rend took what followers they could and splintered off from the Blackrock Clan, founding the Black Tooth Grin clan. They did this to retain some of the power which they believed was their birthright, without directly opposing Orgrim Doomhammer's accession to power, so he would take no action against them.
During the Second War, they were given control of the Dark Portal. Some rumors say that Maim retreated with Kilrogg Deadeye to Draenor, only to die there, either to human blades or as a victim of betrayal. However, this was not the case.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Durotan; Chieftain of the Forstwolf Clan
Apparently accepting their fate, Durotan and the Frostwolf Clan settled deep in a hidden valley in the Alterac Mountains, far to the north of the Kingdom of Azeroth. There they lived throughout the First War. While there, Drek'Thar had forsaken the path of the warlock and was able to regain the favor of the spirits, and return to shamanism. His aid would be invaluable in surviving in the harsh lands which the Frostwolves now called home; in addition to ensuring that the encampment was not flooded in the spring thaw, they also befriended the white wolves that made the valley their home. It was at the end of the First War that Draka, Durotan's mate and most stalwart supporter, gave birth to Durotan's son and heir, the orc who would become known as Thrall. Realizing that there was far more at stake now that his legacy would live on, Durotan decided to take action against the evil Gul'dan, and travelled to the encampment of the only other orc who had stood by him: Orgrim Doomhammer.
Durotan and Draka's murder as depicted in Warcraft Legends 2
Doomhammer had, by this time, assassinated Blackhand and become the Warchief of the Horde, and welcomed Durotan and Draka into his encampment. Durotan explained what he knew - about Gul'dan, the Shadow Council, the demonic bargain. Doomhammer vowed that he would stand at Durotan's side as they confronted Gul'dan with his crimes, but - for the good of his warriors and Durotan as well - he had to send them away to what he thought was a safe place. It was found out later that several of Doomhammer's warriors had been Gul'dan's spies...and one of them had accompanied Durotan and Draka to their "safe haven".
The treacherous guard had summoned assassins to kill the Frostwolf chieftain and his mate. Though he managed to kill at least one of them, Durotan was too severely wounded to continue. His arms sliced off to prevent him from holding his child again, Durotan died slowly as the lifeblood drained out of him, the last thought in his mind being a sense of relief that he would not see his son torn apart by the creatures of the forest.
Urok Scratcher; Traveling Shaman Hermit
was an apprentice shaman and chief advisor to the ruthless commander of the Blackrock clan, Orgrim Doomhammer. He was the author of The Dominion of Lordaeron, which recorded the Horde's actions during the Second War. He was called "Scratcher" because of his habit of scribbling rather than mindlessly killing, but he would soon be the one who laughed. For too long his people had ignored their need to record their methods. He was confident that his chronicles would benefit only those who recognized this need, but mostly because there were very few of his kind who could read.
As a follower of the mystic arts, he was intensely aware that the devouring of a world was of the highest possible honor in the eyes of their dark Gods. The Great Portal had allowed them the opportunity to do just that, and it was Urok's intent to arm every orc, troll, ogre, and goblin ally of their clan with knowledge in addition to power; bloodlust was their nature, but passion for destruction required direction. Knowing this he compiled maps from scouting reports, accompanied by descriptions of our orders and military tactics for clarification. The pages were to be the weapon with which his clan ascended above all others, to claim the honor of annihilating the new world and its inhabitants.
Nothgrin; Orc Warlock of the Old Horde -Mentioned
Some time after the Opening of the Dark Portal, Medivh ordered his new assistant, the young Khadgar, to follow him. They both used their own gryphon for the travel, which was the very day Medivh had come back from a two-week trip away from his reclusive spire of Karazhan.
As they arrived above the Black Morass, they saw a wrecked caravan, burnt to ashes, and a volley of arrows suddenly pierced through Khadgar's mount's wing. As he tripped over the uneven-winged beast, he fell on the ground painfully. He was attacked by a small band of orcs, the first true ones he had ever seen. Khadgar killed some and tried to scare off the rest until the warlock Nothgrin showed up. As he came to assist his soldiers in fighting Khadgar, he challenged the latter to a magic duel.
Then came Khadgar's savior, Medivh, burning away the remaining orcs and killing Nothgrin just as he was about to reveal that he recognized Medivh. Nothgrin's last words were "Nothgrin knows you, human. You are the one…" before he was swept upward by Medivh's magic and burned.
Turok; Warlord of the Deadmine Ogres -Mentioned
Was the leader of a rogue band of ogres who were denied entrance into the Horde by Blackhand the Destroyer. Blackhand's own daughter, Griselda, saw folly in his decision to reject them, and she fled, taking refuge with Turok's band of ogres beneath the Deadmines. Blackhand was enraged by her betrayal and sent a group into the Deadmines to track them down. On Blackhand's command, the ogres were wiped out and Griselda was killed. It is highly probable that Turok was also killed.
Griselda; Daughter of Blackhand and Lover to Turok -Mentioned
Was the wretched orc mistress of Turok and also the daughter of Blackhand the Destroyer. Blackhand forbade her to drink the blood of Mannoroth as a punishment for her "insolent" ways (or because she was female, it is not clear which). It is not clear when, but she soon started an affair with Turok in defiance. Blackhand was not pleased.
She fled with Turok into the Deadmines to plot with her new ally, disobeying her father's commands, and thus committing treason against the Horde. One of Blackhand's forces was mercilessly sent into the Deadmines in search of Griselda.
The rogue ogres of Turok were a tough match for the fearsome orc warriors, but eventually the war party reached the ruined guardhouse of Griselda and Turok who were with their personal ogre guard. In that final conflict, Turok was cut down and Griselda followed suit in her attempt to flee.
Thus, the Deadmines was cleansed of the ogre threat that had once even brought about the capture of Anduin Lothar. Blackhand had ordered the death of his daughter, and his wish had become reality.
Garona; The Half-Orc Assassin -Mentioned and has a cameo appearance
The birth of Garona was orchestrated by Gul'dan, who "bred" one of his orcish warriors to a draenei female. The result was a child that, as it would be discovered later, looked surprisingly human. Gul'dan had her magically aged and tortured, later also placing controls on her mind to ensure obedience. Garona would be raised in barracks with her father's people, hated by the bigger orcs for being different. Their judgements of her being "ugly and deformed" would become her own for years to come. The draenei female's brother however, the Vindicator Maraad, would not care that Garona was half orc. Having learned that his sister had borne a child, he began to search for his niece that would stretch on for many years.
Having travelled throughout Draenor, Garona was well-versed in the culture of the orcs, making her an invaluable asset to the Shadow Council. She was inducted into the warlock-controlled Stormreaver clan. She quickly became the chief interpreter of the Shadow Council and Gul'dan's personal spy and assassin. However, Garona belonged to no clan, and had no clan allegiance.[7] Due to her mixed blood, she was eternally an outcast and had to rely upon her wits to keep her alive in a harsh world. Upon arriving in Azeroth, Garona's experience lent a great deal to her insight with their newest foe — the humans.
Rakmar Sharpfang; Death Knight/Necrolyte
Was a necrolyte under the command of the warlock Gul'dan during the Second War. He was the unofficial leader of the group of necromancers. When Gul'dan submited to Orgrim Doomhammer he promised him command of a powerful set of allies of his creation to use against the Alliance of Lordaeron. When Rakmar repeatedly failed Gul'dan to produce such a creature, the old warlock came up with another way for Rakmar to serve. Rakmar was the first of the necrolytes slaughtered for the sake of using their energies to create the Death Knights.
TIDES OF DARKNESS
Orgrim Doomhammer; Warchief of the Horde
Orgrim Doomhammer, also known as the Backstabber by loyalists of Gul'dan and Blackhand, was the Warchief of the Orcish Horde during the end of the First War and the entirety of the Second War.
Orgrim started his rise to power through the Thunderlord Clan, being a member of that clan too. Blackrock Clan had strong connections to the Thunderlord Clan, though, and for this reason Orgrim was able to rise to power in both. Upon the death of his father, Orgrim became wielder of the Doomhammer and second-in-command to Blackhand.
Gul'dan; The Stormreaver Warlock and Master of the Shadow Council
Warlock of the Inner Circle and Destroyer of Dreams - is the true mastermind behind not only the inner workings of the Horde, but those of the secretive Shadow Council as well. Trained in the arts arcane by the Daemon Kil'jaeden, Gul'dan is perhaps the most powerful Warlock ever to walk the temporal plane.
Obsessed with discovering the legendary Tomb of Sargeras, he hopes to obtain ultimate power by deciphering the secrets ascribed by the Daemonlord since times long forgotten. Gul'dan has used his magiks to bring into bring a host of servants for the Horde. Necrolytes, Ogre-Magi, and the dread Death Knights are all results of his endless experiments with the forces of magic.
Although his spawn of his work have strengthened the Horde, the true loyalties of Gul'dan lie only with himself and his quest to become omnipotent.
Cho'gall; Ogre Mage/Chieftain of the Twilight Hammer's Clan
Is a two-headed ogre - alongside Blackheart, one of the first seen in many generations - and was trained in the arts of the arcane by the warlock Gul'dan, who aided the struggling ogre in mastering the powers of the Twisting Nether. In time, Cho'gall became one of the most feared and venerated members of the Old Horde during the First and Second Wars against the humans.
Cho'gall became the Chieftain of an orc clan after the previous one was executed for disobeying the Shadow Council. Cho'gall renamed the clan as the Twilight's Hammer, while all records of both the clan's old name and the chieftain's one were destroyed.
Though Cho'gall was extremely powerful, he was also dangerously insane. The clan, less of a tribe and more of a religious cult, was devoted to bringing about the apocalypse. In his capacity as a chieftain and as the right hand of Gul'dan, Cho'gall aided his master in the creation of the death knights and the Altars of Storms, and in the transformation of normal ogres into ogre magi.
Zul'jin; Forest Troll Leader, Leader of the Tribes
Is a warlord of the Amani forest trolls and has been chieftain of the Amani tribe since before the Second War. Zul'jin and the Amani tribe were allied with the orcish Horde for the duration of the Second War, but Zul'jin himself was captured near its end by the Alliance.
Upon gaining his freedom he went into hiding to rebuild his army and plan an attack on the remnants of the high elves, now known as blood elves, only to find them allied with the Horde.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Zuluhed the Whacked; Orc Shaman of the Dragonmaw
Zuluhed was apparently the last, and only shaman to accompany the Horde. He was eternally loyal to Blackhand during his reign as Warchief, and wished to remain so even after his death, so he pledged the allegiance of the small but powerful Dragonmaw Clan to Rend and Maim, the sons of Blackhand: an alliance assumed to be broken when Rend pledged the Black Tooth Grin clan to Nefarian's black dragonflight, most feared enemy of the Dragonmaw.
During the Second War, Zuluhed received a vision of a powerful artifact hidden within the Redridge Mountains, and requested permission from Orgrim Doomhammer to locate it.
Despite Zuluhed's apparent loyalty to the sons of Blackhand — his chief rivals — Doomhammer believed that the elder shaman acted in the Horde's best interests, and agreed to allow Zuluhed and his clan to find the artifact in question. Following the source of his visions, Zuluhed came into possession of what he called the Demon Soul.
He assured Doomhammer that he would be able to unlock its powers, but this proved difficult even with the still-formidable powers of the elder shaman. Zuluhed decided to give the artifact to his Second, Nekros Skullcrusher, a former warlock, and with its power managed to capture the dragonqueen, Alexstrasza, and subjugate her red dragonflight. Alexstrasza, threatened with the death of her children, unwillingly gave the Horde an endless supply of her deadly progeny.
Tagar Spinebreaker; Bonechewer Chieftian
He rose to power shortly before the invasion of Draenor, after Grom Hellscream killed the former chieftain, Hurkan Skullsplinter for the Skull of Gul'dan. Whether he was next in line for the chieftainship or simply took the opportunity to step up is unknown.
Tagar garbs himself in the innards of his enemies; that which he does not devour himself. His belt was fashioned from orc spines and bracers carved from the spine segments of an ogre. Tagar is ruthless and bloodthirsty, craving only the heat of battle above all else. The Bonechewers stayed in Draenor during the First Crossing, but when the Second Crossing was imminent, the Bonechewers were brought into line and used against the Alliance. Tagar Spinebreaker personally accompanied Fenris the Hunter to the Tomb of Sargeras where they claimed the Jeweled Scepter of Sargeras for Ner'zhul.
Grandmaster Vorpil; Great Warlock of the Shadow Council
Near the end of the war against the draenei, Gul'dan dispatched Vorpil alongside Blackheart the Inciter to investigate Auchindoun. After surviving the explosion that destroyed most of Auchindoun, they remained there for many years.
In time, Ner'zhul, Teron Gorefiend and Kilrogg Deadeye fled to Auchindoun to take shelter from the pursuing Alliance armies. They had been unaware of the presence of other orcs here, but Vorpil and Blackheart welcomed them. When presented with news of the betrayal of Gul'dan, Vorpil pledged himself to Ner'zhul. When Danath broke into Auchindoun to rescue Kurdran, Vorpil and Blackheart fought to stop them, but were beset by ghosts of dead draenei. In the confusion, Danath slew Kilrogg Deadeye in single combat. Ner'zhul and Gorefiend teleported themselves to the Black Temple, and Vorpil and Blackheart fled back into the Shadow Labyrinth.
Kilrogg Deadeye; Chieftain of the Bleedinghollow
As an older chieftan, Kilrogg Deadeye had become more unwilling to throw lives away in combat. In orcish politics older orcs become more pragmatic, which is often mistaken for cowardice by the younger generation. Prior to the sacking of Stormwind, Kilrogg had killed three of his sons and two grandsons already who thought they could rule the clan better.[3]
At the start of the First War, the Bleeding Hollow clan participated in the first attack on Stormwind Keep, along with the Twilight's Hammer clan, led by Cho'gall.[4] This first attack was an unmitigated disaster for the orcs, and Deadeye and Cho'gall blamed the failure on each other. A rift soon grew that threatened to rip the Horde apart before it had even begun its conquest of Azeroth. Gul'dan quickly stepped in to quell the problem, reinstalling Blackhand as Warchief of the Horde.
Second War
Kilrogg fought under Blackhand, and then later under Orgrim Doomhammer. During the Second War, his clan was stationed throughout Khaz Modan, where it controlled the Horde's vital mining and oil refining operations. When Orgrim Doomhammer was forced to withdraw back into Khaz Modan, after sending a large part of the Horde away to kill the treacherous Gul'dan and regain the lost honor of the orcs, Deadeye was one of the few that agreed with his decision.[5] At the end of the war with the destruction of the Dark Portal and the defeat of the orcs; the aging Kilrogg refused to surrender, even after Doomhammer was captured.[6] Kilrogg escaped and managed to avoid capture of his clan by the Alliance forces.
Invasion of Draenor
Kilrogg managed to evade the Alliance for two years. He, like most of the remaining orc leaders, was summoned to the site of the Dark Portal to discover that Teron Gorefiend had reopened the portal and that the Horde had united under Ner'zhul's leadership.[7] Kilrogg's knowledge of affairs in Azeroth enabled Ner'zhul and Gorefiend to successfully plan their next move.[8] After recounting the events of the Second War to the old shaman, Kilrogg, along with his old comrades Grom Hellscream and Kargath Bladefist, led the charge back into Azeroth to steal items of power needed to aid Ner'zhul in his scheme.[9][10]
On the way from Hellfire Citadel to the Black Temple to begin the ritual, Ner'zhul — accompanied by Kilrogg and Teron Gorefiend — made a stop in the ruined draenei necropolis of Auchindoun, a prospect that frightened the usually-fearless chieftain, believing that it would doom them if they went there.[11] However, he eventually gave in, accepting that it was necessary to rest there for a time on their way to Shadowmoon Valley.[12] It was there, in the depths of the Shadow Labyrinth — slowing the Alliance forces enough for Ner'zhul to make his escape — that Kilrogg met his end. In a duel with Alliance force commander Danath Trollbane (honorable, to the latter's surprise), the human threw his blade at Kilrogg's throat, taking advantage of the chieftain's half-blindedness. Kilrogg's throat was slashed open, but he managed to declare that by his blood the Horde would live and that he was returning to his ancestors. His eyes glazed over, and he toppled sideways landing heavily on the floor.[1]
Tharbek; Second to the Horde Leader Orgrim Doomhammer
Was born a fierce orc warrior and soon he became Orgrim Doomhammer's second. He foreseen the duties of the clans and made sure the troops were cared for and his loyalty was sometimes questioned, but Orgrim Doomhammer kept him as his second. He soon reported that the Alterac Passes were no longer accessible to their troops and were on the verge to be forced to travel back to the Blackrock Spire.
Having a chance, Tharbek thought Gul'dan would return from his voyage, but the old orc was not coming and the Horde had to fight back to their controlled territory.
He probably soon meant his fate at Blackrock Spire when the Alliance finally after countless wars, put a stop to the amassing Horde, and Tharbek's whereabouts is unknown if he ever survived or not.
Krul'tan and Ter'lij; Royalists to Zul'jin
They were members of the Amani tribe of forest trolls under the command of Zul'jin prior to the Second War. He was the first forest troll to make contact with the orcs, and spoke briefly with Orgrim Doomhammer before his leader arrived. Ter'lij was a lieutenant of Zul'jin as well and soon he was caught in an ambush and killed by Halduron Brightwing during the invasion of Quel'thalas in the Second War.
Drak'thul; Former Member of the Stormreavers
Was a warlock in Gul'dan's Stormreaver clan. This weathered orc wears a tattered wolf pelt and a pair of tarnished bracers sprouting wolf hair. The wolf’s head falls over his face, obscuring his eyes, but his long gray hair spills, greasy, down his shoulders. He moves with arthritic care. Drak’thul didn’t survive to become one of the last Stormreavers by being stupid. He is a canny combatant, staying back when he needs to stay back and striking preemptively when the situation warrants. He prefers ranged attacks, like shadow bolt, to eliminate his opponents early; if forced into melee, he uses spells like demon skin and mirror image to improve his chances. He avoids using his battle rage ability, as it clouds his mind and prevents him from fleeing if he is outmatched.
Nekros Skullcrusher; Dragonmaw Clan Overseer and Jailer of the Dragonqueen
Was the second to Zuluhed the Whacked, chieftain of the Dragonmaw clan, and was entrusted as both warden of the dragonqueen Alexstrasza and wielder of the Demon Soul that held her prisoner.
One of the few orcish warlocks who were not part of the Shadow Council, Nekros never cared for his dark, magical calling. He fled from the warlock ranks, returning to his warrior ways. But his duty to his clan, and himself, demanded that he saddle his burden, especially after a human knight deprived him of half a leg.[1][2]
Nekros was commissioned by Zuluhed to hold the Demon Soul, which he would use to capture and contain the mighty dragonqueen. They did just that, and Nekros became her warden in Grim Batol, using the Demon Soul to inflict unimaginable pain on her whenever she did not cooperate. When she tried to starve herself, he shattered an egg before her which forced her to return to cooperation with the orc.[3]
Nekros continually abused her, both mentally and physically, especially after the Second War, when she became the only real weapon the Old Horde had against the Alliance. Tyranastrasz, whom Nekros thought to have been her last living consort, was also being held captive with her, but was slowly dying after he contracted a fatal ailment while imprisoned by the Orcs. Nekros knew he would soon have no further means of producing more red dragon eggs to aid the Horde's fight against the Alliance.
Nekros was tricked by Deathwing into moving Alexstrasza into the open. Deathwing's own plan was to steal the red dragonflight eggs in the confusion. Alexstrasza was freed by her consort Korialstrasz, and the first thing she did was dispose of Nekros, eating him alive.[4]
His son Nek'rosh survived the massacre.
Torgus; Dragonmaw Clan Dragon Rider
Was a well-known dragonrider of the Dragonmaw clan during and after the Second War. He managed to get word of Gul'dan's betrayal back to his chieftan, Zuluhed the Whacked, and the rest of the Horde. After the war, he was assigned to Grim Batol, under Nekros Skullcrusher, where the clan was keeping a large portion of the red dragonflight enslaved. During one particular mission, he and his draconic mount encountered the black Dragon Aspect, Deathwing. Deathwing attacked Torgus and his fellow dragonriders, and Torgus narrowly managed to escape back to Grim Batol to warn his clan of the coming danger. Torgus' fate afterwards is unknown.
BEYOND THE DARK PORTAL
Ner'zhul; Warchief of the Horde of Draenor
The Elder Shaman Ner'zhul was the Warchief of Draenor, the clans that remained uncaptured after the Dark Portal was destroyed in Azeroth. He was tricked into making a Blood Pact with Kil'jaeden the Deceiver; one that bound the orcs into the service of the Burning Legion. Following the Second War, he opened several portals on Draenor in an attempt to seek out new lands to escape to and conquer.
He finally meant his end at the Twisting Nether by Kil'jaeden and the mighty demon lord kept his spirit alive and tortured it to the cosmos.
Grommash Hellscream; Chieftain of the Warsong Clan
"Grommash" means "The Giant's Heart" in orcish.
One of the orc chieftains of legend. Prior to the creation of the Dark Portal, Grom Hellscream was the uncontested leader of the Warsong clan, marked by his slim build and black-tattooed lower jaw. Suspicions floated away the previous chieftain's death, giving rise to the notion that Grom usurped the position, rather than gain it though heredity like Durotan. Though he was stubborn, he was the first to give heed to the prospect of war when Ner'zhul warned the other clans of a "new old enemy", the draenei.
He invaded Shattrath City against the draenei; he was described as being a tattooed, fiery-eyed massive orc carrying a wicked two-handed axe, with raven-hued hair, and his lower jaw had been colored as black as pitch. He fought against Nobundo and succeeded in taking the city.
His clan was spared the defeats of the Second Great War, Gul'dan having manipulated Grom into staying behind on Draenor. The Horde was defeated by the Alliance of Lordaeron with Grom and his clan never having faced the humans in battle.
He was used with effectiveness by Ner'zhul in the aftermath of the second war. His forces, combined with that of the Bleeding Hollow clan led by Kilrogg Deadeye, were used in strategic hit-and-run raids designed to retrieve some of Azeroth's most powerful magical artifacts.
Teron Gorefiend; Supreme Death Knight of the Horde of Draenor
Gorefiend, Gaz Soulripper, and the other death knights swore allegiance to Doomhammer and fought for the Horde where their powerful energies aided in many battles. When Gul'dan betrayed the Horde, Gorefiend remained in the service of the Warchief until he was defeated.
Leading the death knights beyond the Dark Portal before its destruction, Gorefiend remained on Draenor until Ner'zhul, Gul'dan's former master, came to the forefront and united the remaining clans into the Horde of Draenor. Ner'zhul intended to open new dimensional gateways to other worlds, but needed powerful items to stabilize them. To that end, Ner'zhul sent Gorefiend through a reconstructed Dark Portal to claim two powerful artifacts required for his spell: The Book of Medivh and the Eye of Dalaran.
Deathwing; Master of Black Dragonflight
The black aspect involved himself in the Second War, adopting the form of Lord Daval Prestor, in order to destroy the Alliance from within. He also managed to turn his greatest enemy, Alexstrasza, into a slave of the Horde, with whom he later allied himself.
After suffering a series of defeats culminating with his being chased off by the other Aspects, Deathwing retreated to the elemental plane Deepholm to recuperate. From Deepholm, Deathwing observed his former mate Sintharia's experiments with the twilight dragonflight in Grim Batol. Deathwing now continues his late consort's work.
Kargath Bladefist; Chieftain of the Shattered Hand Clan
Kargath was one of the original members of the Shadow Council, and the only non-warlock to reach the Inner Circle.
When the first wave of clans went through to Azeroth, Bladefist begrudgingly stayed behind in Draenor, under the uneasy rule of Ner'zhul the Shaman, who only remained in power through his numbers – and the always-looming threat of the Ogre-Mage Dentarg. When the Bleeding Hollow Clan returned to Draenor many years later, Bladefist immediately volunteered to send his clan through to Azeroth, hoping to gloriously slaughter the humans to avenge his fallen or captured brothers and sisters.
MINOR CHARACTERS
Rexxar; Mok'Nathal Beastmaster
Rexxar was one of the few orcish warriors who had been formed from a union between orcs and ogres. Rexxar was originally part of the pacifist Mok'Nathal clan, based on Draenor in the Blade's Edge Mountains, under the watchful guard of his father, Leoroxx. But their pacifist ways gave him no reason to stay, and despite his father's wishes, he joined the Horde and left through the Dark Portal. The beastmaster was accompanied by a large black wolf, Haratha, his loyal companion.
Obris; Shadowmoon Royalist to Ner'zhul
Was one of Ner'zhul's higher ranking of officers. He served and helped unite the clans once again to fight the Alliance. His faith in Ner'zhul's role as savior of the Horde seemed to have been rather high, as he stood by and helped open the portals to new worlds. It was Ner'zhul's promise that the orcs would be saved, through the opening of such gateways to richer realms to conquer. Yet, Obris was to behold the breaking of Ner'zhul's nobility. The old orc said that the rest of the Horde be damned, and that all that mattered was his own survival. Obris protested, but was mowed down by his master's magic, and left for dead.
Yet, Obris survived for a while yet. Khadgar was left despairing, seeing that Ner'zhul had completed his scheme. Still, in a final act of vengeance, Obris handed over the Book of Medivh, which he had been entrusted with, to Khadgar. Glad to have defied the great traitor, Ner'zhul, Obris accepted the peace of death.
Sabellian; Black Dragonflight Overseer
is a black dragon, son of the black Dragon Aspect, Deathwing. He was one of his lieutenants prior to the black Aspect's abandonment of Draenor. During the black dragonflight's alliance with Ner'zhul's Horde, Sabellian and his brethren transported the orc chieftans Fenris Wolfbrother, Tagar Spinebreaker, and a small party of orcs to Menethil Harbor, on their way to retrieve the Jeweled Scepter of Sargeras. Once the artifacts were secured he followed Deathwing to the orc's homeworld of Draenor.
Once on Draenor, the black dragons settled into the Blade's Edge Mountains. They were not there long before they were attacked by Gruul, his offspring, and a small group of Alliance Expedition fighters. The eggs were destroyed and Deathwing was forced to flee from battle, followed immediately by Sabellian.
Greatmother Geyah; Great Mother of Nagrand
In the early days of the Horde, a virulent plague known as the Red Pox spread throughout the clans. Geyah, rather than abandon the afflicted, established a quarantined settlement in the region of Nagrand, hoping to care for the victims while limiting exposure. Among Geyah's patients were the children of several chieftains, including Garrosh Hellscream and Jorin Deadeye. As the clans gave the settlement a wide berth, the orcs therein were not forced into joining the Horde or the Blood Pact with Mannoroth. From afar, Geyah watched in disgust as the brown skin of the Horde turned a sickly green and once-verdant lands died. However, Geyah and those in the village, sickened though they were, remained mag'har, uncorrupted.
Shortly before Draenor's destruction, Geyah was visited by Kargath Bladefist, who had stumbled upon the village by accident and demanded that every able-bodied warrior come to his aid in assisting Ner'zhul's nefarious plans. Geyah, naturally, refused to aid her corrupted brethren, not that she could have anyway, as most of the village was still suffering from the Red Pox
Garrosh Hellscream; Son of Grommash Hellscream
Garrosh is the son of Grom Hellscream, and was born on Draenor and during the human invasion of Draenor, many Mag'har - the uncorrupted orcs who settled in Garadar, a stronghold in Nagrand - were ill due to the red pox. Garrosh was among them.
Kargath Bladefist visited them at Garadar in search of warriors to aid him. Garrosh asked him about his father, and wanted to fight with him, but Kargath ignored him at first, calling the Mag'har weaklings and not orcs any more, and they could do the Horde a favor by dying. Later on Garrosh asked Greatmother Geyah about his father, but the answer caused him to enter a deep depression.
Blackheart; Ogre Mage of Draenor
Alongside Cho'gall, Blackheart the Inciter was one of the few two-headed ogres within the Shadow Council. He was dispatched alongside Vorpil to investigate Auchindoun, and remained there for many years. Till this day they remain there, tampering with cosmic forces such as Murmur. Their followers form what is known as the Cabal.
Ragnok Bloodreaver; Horde of Draenor Death Knight
Ragnok was an orcish warlock of the Shadow Council when the new warchief, Orgrim Doomhammer, came upon them in a surprise attack and slew nearly every last member, including him. Shortly after, Ragnok's former master, Gul'dan, brought the Orc back and placed his spirit, along with those of his fellow council members, in the decaying bodies of knights of Azeroth. Thus the Death Knights were born.
Ultimately, the Horde was defeated and the Portal destroyed. Ragnok found himself trapped on Draenor along with Teron Gorefiend and Gaz Soulripper. Teron, accompanied by the other Death Knights, convinced Ner'zhul to reopen the portal.
Ragnok was assigned to accompany Tagar Spinebreaker and Fenris Wolfbrother on their quest to retrieve the Jeweled Scepter of Sargeras. They overcame the Kul Tiras navy with the help of black dragons, and arrived at the Broken Isles with ships stolen from Menethil Harbor.
Once inside the Tomb of Sargeras, Ragnok's magic guided the way towards the scepter. They found the scepter, but it was in the hands of a demon, one of the tomb's guardians. The demon was slain in battle, and the scepter recovered. When Fenris commanded the company to leave, Ragnok lashed out angrily. He had sensed the Eye of Sargeras nearby, and said that it would be foolish to abandon the chance to claim an artifact of such great power; an artifact that Gul'dan had come to claim himself. Yet, Fenris was adamant. Ragnok threatened him with death, but did not avert Fenris' choice, and resigned himself to his duty. With the Scepter of Sargeras, Ragnok, Fenris and Tagar returned to Ner'zhul to continue their duty to the Horde on the front lines.
Gaz Soulripper; Horde of Draenor Death Knight
Gaz Soulripper was an orcish warlock of the Shadow Council when the new warchief, Orgrim Doomhammer, came upon them in a surprise attack and slew nearly every last member, including Gaz. Shortly after, Gaz's former master, Gul'dan, brought the Orc back and placed his spirit, along with those of his fellow council members, in the decaying bodies of knights of Azeroth. Thus the Death Knights were born.
Ultimately, the Horde was defeated and the Portal destroyed. Gaz found himself trapped on Draenor along with Teron Gorefiend and Ragnok. Teron, accompanied by Gaz and the other Death Knights, convinced Ner'zhul to reopen the portal. When the assault was made Gaz Soulripper was placed in charge of matters on the Azerothian side of the Dark Portal's reconstruction.
Gaz was later captured and brought before Turalyon and Khadgar at Nethergarde, where he was interrogated about the Horde's new invasion. When he tried to strangle Khadgar, Turalyon burned the Death Knight to ashes using the Holy Light.
Hurkan Skullsplinter; Bonechewer Chieftain
Was the Chieftain of the Bonechewer clan before the invasion of Draenor. He was a massive warrior, as large as Orgrim Doomhammer. He was prone to madness and bloodlust, but was a cunning and wily warrior when he was actually thinking. At one point, he gained possession of the Skull of Gul'dan, which he took from one of his warriors whom he killed, who in turn had taken it from one of Gul'dan's warlocks, who the warrior killed for the skull, though there may have been others inbetween. Hurkan himself was killed for the skull by Grom Hellscream, who had been sent to retrieve it by Ner'zhul. Immediately after Hurkan's death, Grom asked for his replacement so he could demand a renewed pledge of loyalty to the Horde. Grom's call was answered by Tagar Spinebreaker.
Fenris Wolfbrother; Chieftain of the Thunderlord Clan
Was chieftain of the Thunderlord clan, and leader of the few remaining wolfriders in Draenor.
The Blackrock clan had once been very closely tied to the Thunderlords, and Orgrim Doomhammer had risen to power through that clan. When Ner'zhul chose to reforge the Horde after Doomhammer's defeat on Azeroth, Fenris pledged his Thunderlords to the cause.
Fenris accompanied Tagar Spinebreaker on a swift mission to the Tomb of Sargeras, where they slew a demon and claimed the Jeweled Scepter of Sargeras. Fenris gave the scepter to Ner'zhul and fell back into line fighting for the reforged Horde.
Leoroxx; Father of Rexxar and Leader of the Mok'nathal -Mentoned
Leoroxx is located at Mok'Nathal Village in Blade's Edge Mountains.
Believed to be the current leader of the Mok'Nathal clan, Leoroxx is the father of Rexxar, Champion of the Horde. The Mok'Nathal are very pacifistic, but Rexxar — against the wishes of his father — joined the Horde believing that there was nothing left for him among his people. For his actions, Leoroxx disowned him, and for thirty years his mind has remained stubbornly set against his son, even after Rexxar returned to Draenor — now Outland — to search for what remained of his people. Leoroxx has a companion lynx named Tethik.
