Spectrum TD is a Tower Defense map with an emphasis on replayability, cosmetic unlocks and customization.

Unique Features
Spectrum TD has 4 main game modes:
- Competitive. Players compete to survive longer than other players, and can spend excess gold to boost the health of creeps for all players and knock them out faster. With 4 or more players, a personal skill rating is also saved and recorded for future games.
- Weekly PvE. Players play in separate solo games, and the RNG seed is fixed for the entire week. Compete to get the highest wave cleared each week and post your results on the official discord.
- Casual Mode. Players compete to survive longer than other players, but their waves are not synchronized with other players and you cannot boost the life of your opponent's waves. Ratings are not tracked in this mode.
- Custom. The host can choose settings such as enabling or disabling creep boosts, changing the RNG seed per player, randomizing or fixing waves, changing the number of waypoints and more.


The cosmetic unlock system allows you to change the look of your maze, such as terrain, rocks and fort.

Spectrum TD has a special Rune mechanic.
Random runes will appear on the ground at the start of each game. Building a tower on those runes grants significant buffs to the towers built upon them.
Relics (2.0.0+) are consumable and passive items that you can choose to improve your towers and drastically change your strategies each game.

Spectrum TD has almost infinite replayability - every game can be totally different with the initial maze setup and distribution of runes and creep modifiers. If you want to experience a consistent system, Weekly PvE mode lets you fine tune your strategies for a whole week.

General
Slightly increased the life of creeps in early waves. This change is most pronounced on wave 9, and has no effect after wave 15.
Late game creep life scaling now starts 2 waves later (wave 21), but scales more aggressively.
Abilities and relics that generate runes now have various restrictions to prevent generating useless or near-useless runes for the tower it is being used on (Rhasody, Runemaster, etc.).
Added a button next to the options to toggle a 2x2 grid display on your maze.
Added a new creep prefix: Chasing, Duplicated.
Added an option to disable the display of many effects. This option does not affect other players and can significantly improve framerate.

Added new rune prefixes: Divided, United.
Added new runes: Rune of Dreams, Rune of Purity.
Creeps now indicate their target waypoint in the "Leak damage" info.
Game victory now accounts for life. Meaning, if the surviving player would have higher progress even if they leaked every remaining creep, they are immediately awarded a victory.
Increased the potency of Matching Runes by 20%.
Prefix/suffix runes now indicate their current buff amount in their tooltip (Attuned, Tempered, etc.).
Removed rune prefix: Gluttonous.

Arcane Blade's damage increased from 25% to 28%.
Arcanite Bow's attack range increased from 80 to 100.
Assassin's Blade attack speed increased from 45% to 50%.
Assassin's Blade now provides an additional optional Matcher tower choice after any reroll.
Bounty Contract now awards gold based on your income, up to a maximum.
Bounty Contract's duration reduced from 20 to 15 seconds.
Elixir of Divine Strength can no longer be used on towers that already have another elixir active.
Formal Document's gold per creep increased from 10 to 12.
Guiding Rod's range increased from 15% to 18%.
Madgineer's Goggles has been redesigned.

Added a yellow range indicator for certain abilities centered around the tower, such as Storm Herald's Electrolyze or Fusion Cannon's Radiation.
Some minor range adjustments were made to ensure default attack and effect ranges are different.
Runes now only spawn in locations that have a 2x2 area of available space. This also affects relics that spawn runes.
Steady Rune's cooldown reduced from 2.5 to 2 seconds.

Apparition's Spirit Surge buff range reduced from 675 to 650.
Augur's Arcane Mind and Body buff range reduced from 575 to 550.

Added "Filler Charges" that can be used to construct 1x1 structures that block creeps. Fillers are not considered as towers or rocks, and can only be gained using relics.

Reroll RNG now has a slight bias towards towers/colors you have not rolled before. This does not affect the weekly seed in order to maintain reliable outcomes.

Turbo mode is now the default. The old "slow" mode has been removed.

Cost increase of rerolling after unlocking all tiers reduced from 20 to 10 gold.
Increased the life scaling of creeps.
The healing cap per wave has been reduced from 25% to 20%.
Improved the wording on some tooltips, particularly for towers with matching effects.
Added tags to all towers: Single-target, Multi-target, Short-range, Long-range, Support and Matcher. Relics may now interact with towers with specific tags (e.g. Solar Blade).
The Spectropedia now allows you to filter by tags.
New creep prefixes: Gathering, Phasing.
Rune of Alacrity's damage changed from -25% to -20%.

Towers
Added a new set of Tier 5 Towers: Leyline Guardian (Blue), Flame Baron (Red), Rift (Yellow), Spectre (Purple), Snap Dragon (Green), Shivarra (Orange), Chromaticaster (White).
New Tier 6 Towers: Eldritch Being (Purple), Plasma Array (Orange)

Increased the speed of various projectiles to handle turbo mode better.
Reworked matching effects to be more impactful, and for more towers to have them. In some cases, towers were made weaker on non-matching waves to compensate.
Towers with new matching effects: Artillery, Fan of Knives, Frost Channeler, Frozen Spire, Fusion Cannon, Hydra, Shadowdancer, Searing Crystal, Shredder, Stormbinder, Void Queen.
Archlich has been redesigned.
Fusion Cannon's Fusion Blast has been redesigned.
Searing Crystal has been redesigned.
Aetherflux's Flux Discharge matching bonus removed. Now always attacks 6 times over 1.5 seconds.

Electronexus' Feedback Loop now triggers when a creep spawns, instead of when a creep dies.
Fire Prodigy's Twisted Firestarter damage increased from 60 to 100.
Nathrezim's attack damage increased from 385 to 455.
Nathrezim's Bat Swarm damage reduced from 0.4x to 0.3x.
Nathrezim's Vampiric Bite matching bonus removed. Now always slows by 40%.
Plaguefather's Decay cooldown reduced from 5 to 3 seconds.

Razormane's Quest for Quills main quest damage increased from 1.4x to 1.5x.

Rhapsody's Live Stage now gives a choice of 3 runes.
Seraph's Divine Grace base buff increased from 1% to 5%.
Seraph's Divine Infusion now also grants 10 maximum mana for 10 seconds.
Serpent Ward's Critical Paralysis matching bonus removed. Chance is now always 25%.
Soul Keeper's Hand of Death damage increased from 400 to 500.
Soul Keeper's scythe speed increased from 450 to 650.
Storm Herald's Paralyze damage changed from 999 to randomly 1.0x to 20.0x attack damage.
Tesseract's Chain Hit Mastery chance increased from 50% to 60%.

Arcane Turret attack damage reduced from 153 to 133.
Arcane Turret's Arcane Power now always inflicts slow, instead of only on matching. If matching, now gains 1.6x damage and attack speed instead.
Artillery's Bombardment changed from 5 to 4/6 attacks if matching.
Fan of Knive's Backstab changed from 2.0x to 1.5x/2.5x damage if matching.
Frost Channeler's Supercooling chance changed from 20% to 10/25% if matching.
Frost Turret's Cryoblast damage changed from 240 to 175/350 if matching.
Frost Turret's Cryoblast now always slows for 5 seconds, instead of 4/7 if matching.
Frozen Spire's Mana Link now persists through Hailstorm if matching.
Gattling Turret's Matching Execute increased from 1.5x to 2.0x damage.
Hydra's Corrosive Pool now casts three times if matching.
Mortar Turret's attack damage reduced from 192 to 176.
Mortar Turret's Quick Reload attack speed increased from 1.2x to 1.4x attack speed.
Shadowdancer's attack damage reduced from 129 to 79.
Shadowdancer's Minor Splash Damage replaced with Dark Reverb.
Shredder's attack damage increased from 136 to 164.
Shredder's Long-range Automatic Missile Ejector is now only active if the wave is matching.
Spark Warden's Discharge changed from 10x/15x to 10x/20x if matching.
Stormbinder's Chain Lightning chance changed from 15% to 10/20% if matching.
Toxic Turret's attack damage reduced from 31 to 29.
Toxic Turret's Toxic Mist now deals 1.4x damage over 7s, up from 1.2x over 6s.
Void Queen's Voidfall duration changed from 10 to 10/20 seconds if matching.

Relics
Removed relics: Dark Pact, Lucky Dice, The Third Eye.

New consumable (rare) relics: Power Hex, Haste Hex, Domain Hex (shared appearance rate).

New passive (rare) relics: Throwing Stars.

Bloodstone's flat damage per tier increased from 8 to 10. Attack speed per tier increased from 2% to 3%.
Bounty Contract's gold per kill increased from 10 to 12.
Colored Dice rarity changed from rare to uncommon.
Demonic Dice cost reduced from 40 to 35. Can now be used while life is less than threshold (will not kill).
Draught of Midas now grants 1000g when chosen.
Four Leaf Clover gold income increased from 2.5% to 3%.
Jeweled Crown damage increased from 15% to 18%. Loss per adjacent increased from 5% to 6%.
Leprechaun's Hat gold income increased from 5% to 6%.
Ten-Sided Dice charges increased from 4 to 5.
Tidal Sphere's mana regen increased from 0.15 to 0.2.
Weighted Dice charges increased from 2 to 3.

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Hey, I played several games with a friend and I really love it. The only issues we have is that often someone of us getting desync after 5 minutes ingame.
 
I played two times the v.1.4.0b with 3 other players. Map starts crashing at like wave 4... sadly

selected both times the competitive mode

1.4.1 release.

A lot of bug fixes and some balance changes - we've also had a crack at fixing the crashing error, so let us know if you still get them regularly or not.

EDIT: Looks like the crashing is all fixed! No crashes and no desyncs. Finally, we're on the good world line.

So we fixed that now in 1.5 thanks to a little help from Mayday.

And a whole bunch of new custom UI too!
 
On our discord, we now have a Bot that can be used to query game data.

Typing "/tower" on discord allows you to get the information of any tower in the game, while typing "/ability" will show the full data of any given ability.

Gave this map a few runs and it definitely stands out. The amount of systems like runes, relics, and different game modes makes every game feel different, which is a big plus. There’s clearly a lot of depth here and you can tell it has strong replay value.


That said, it felt pretty confusing at first. It took multiple tries just to understand what’s going on, and the learning curve might push some players away early.


Overall, solid and unique map that will definitely click with the right audience.
