Quest TD v1.01

The Goal:

All players are trying to score points. This is done by completing "Quests" and killing the enemies that spawn in your maze. The first player to reach the victory threshold wins the game!



The Gimmicks:
Every (well designed) Tower Defense map has a feature that makes it unique. This map has two.

1. The Quests
All players have an ongoing quest that they must accomplish. This can be any number of things from clearing a wave in a specific type of terrain, visiting a specific location (see The Board below), killing a certain number of enemies with a particular armor type, etc. The first player to complete all the quest's requirements earns bonus points for their score, resets all players' progress, and generates a new, random quest for players to complete.
2. The Board
Players will strategically navigate their characters around the game's central board. Each time they visit a new location, they will have to face a wave of enemies that spawns there. Once there are no enemies left in the wave, they will have an opportunity to move their character again. Players must use their board positioning in order to upgrade their towers, complete quests, and find waves of enemies they can successfully defeat.



Progressing Through the Game:
Players face spawns at their own, individual paces. One player may have cleared 30 waves while another has only started wave 10 or 11. The difficulty of the spawns players face will depend on how many waves they have personally cleared, making it easier to finish certain quests early in the game and putting extra emphasis on smart choices for which areas to attempt.



Towers:
There are 6 types of "base" towers, each of which has 4 upgrade options for a total of 24 lines of towers. Each line of towers has its own unique ability/abilities, as well as one of 5 primary damage types. All base towers have "chaos" damage, which deals nearly full damage to all armor types and makes it easier to start the game. To upgrade a tower once past its "base" tier (tier 1), a player must have cleared 2 waves in a specific type of terrain. Each tier 1 tower has 4 different terrain types that can be cleared to upgrade it (listed in its description). In order to upgrade past a tier 2 tower and into a tier 3 tower, 5 waves must have been cleared in its specific terrain type. Towers do not upgrade past tier 3.

1. I suggest rethinking some of the Information quests like the FAQ2 where you wrote the response to why you're handsome and smart. 2. Maybe you'd want to replace the swear word on Construct Tower with something else. The same with Advance to Skeletal...

    Thank you for the thorough feedback and the upvotes! Great suggestions too.
    -I have considered adding some additional "base" towers (along with their upgrades) as well as a tier 4 for all the lines of towers. More towers are definitely possible in a future version.
    -I hadn't considered giving the builder any additional abilities, but that option has a lot of potential. Maybe I could even somehow tie that to the areas the players have cleared (i.e. certain spellcasting becomes available after clearing forests, mountains, etc.)? Either way, it's a good suggestion.
    -While I'm not satisfied with the lack of gold for the first round or two, I haven't found a great way of fixing that, but I'll keep looking into it.

    2. Maybe you'd want to replace the swear word on Construct Tower with something else. The same with Advance to Skeletal Mage. It might be about context but the writing is wrong. Same: Advance to Void Ooze; Advance to Grand Magus and all descriptions with that word.
    3. Pyroclasm does not have an autocast spell. You can turn it into one if you want using this: Button Manager v1.8.2
    4. Would be nice to have somewhere the information of how many zone types you've cleared.
    5. Music should be played with the other trigger to avoid it running through the sound channel.

    • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
    • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
    • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

    1-2. I was just trying to utilize some internet humor, but I'll take sensitivities into consideration. Thanks for pointing that out.
    3. It is not 'auto-cast,' but it does automatically cast itself when the tower first attacks. I'm just letting players know that they don't have to manually use the ability.
    4. You can already see the number of zones you've cleared on the passive ability on your builder or by typing '-info'.
    5. Didn't even consider the problems with hogging the sound channel. Good suggestion!

    The altered version of the come word is still there. I'd like you to change that for every description that has it. If you really want to keep the last two letters at least replace the first with k.

    I've checked all of the descriptions and the FAQ quests under the information tab. I don't see where I've missed anything on any of the towers. Everything's spelling (and meaning) should display correctly. If I've made a mistake somewhere, just let me know where.

    I've seen it on the Construct Tower (the one with the Sentry icon) that is not an upgrade but can be built by the wisp unit.

    -Definitely hoping to add more quests at some point. Optional quests would be an interesting feature. If you have any quest suggestions, let me know.
    -As it stands right now, the game prevents the same quest from appearing back-to-back. At some point I may try implementing a more advanced algorithm for pseudo-randomizing quests, but the variability within certain quests sort of handles that as-is. We'll have to see.
