Hmmn...I wonder..

Should I perhaps redo my submission and make a tiered angelic being with advancing wings and armour sorta like my resurrection icon only tiered? And an angelic blade tier for my weapon?

(just a thought..I call it if its a good idea lol)

hey lioness, for your armor tier 1 you just posted, there's no back to it, its like a single layer piece of cloth with sleeves, like an apron.

otherwise looks great

although i will say, peasant patchwork cloth doesnt really make great armor :p

Everyone starts out small, wizards don't have time to earn money for fancy clothes unless they become really good

@Friky: you'll see what I'm gonna do. And that's just the top of a staff, the abrupt end won't be shown in the icon.

much less annoying and cartoony^ (3rd attempt at icon)

AHA! I figured out what makes it so cartoony, the shading and highlights! if you make them fade into normal color rather than just an abrupt change from very dark to the normal shade then it wont look so cartoony, also try making shading darker in the place least exposed to the light.

BTW it is much better.

@LiOneSS Wow, that is really good! I like the fact that it isn't a super rich person mage robe but a first upgrade-like robe. Although the staff does look rather flat.

P.S. Shaman your sig is too wide, it lengthens the thread so I have to go sideways to see all of the text.:gg:

the armor tiers and weapon tiers dont have to be the same tiers right? they can both have different themes right?

Your aim is to create two sequences (each consisting of three or more icons), one representing the upgrade sequence for your favourite weapon and another one for somekind of matching armor.
The weapon and armour sequences must be matching eachother.

Wow, why so mad? I can assure you this is my work..

I'm not mad, I just don't trust your work at all. Its "too clean".

Maybe you're doing something wrong if you can't get a clear image on 64x64? Like I said,

I work in 64x64 as well, with 1x1 pixel brush with shape dynamics and even then I find it difficult to get a clear and crisp yet smooth picture without grain...Thus I don't quite trust your work.

Show us your technique, I'm sure it would be very useful.

I'll give the judges the .psd if they want it.

As co-moderator of the Art Forums, I also request this .psd, and I would like it (probably as well as the judges in charge) before the contest ends.

I ask because I will now be keeping an eye on you, and your work.

For now just take my word on it

Or...you can prove your innocence now. Quite frankly I demand it, but I'll ask nicely.

"please show your work"

If you are innocent, you have nothing to fear and all is forgotten...and quite frankly you will be praised! If you are guilty...lets hope you aren't.

From what I can see all he did was, put off-white on red and stroked it with a maybe 30-50 rate smudge brush. I'll probably use the same method for my glow.

Looking pretty frikyin' awesome though.

EDIT: I added a glow to tier 2 and 3.

moar!

The T2 and T3 ones could probably use more details and differentiation from the T1... will work on it.
