Melee games popular? It will happen when wc4 will be released, which means never :D

Never say never :p you never know what will happen in the future, who knows, maybe melee games will truly re-become popular, not really with wc4.

,,Impossible things" happen every time in life, you can't know if that ,,impossible" is really impossible or possible

Who knows, maybe Blizzard makes warcraft 4..... Who knows, maybe they make Starcraft 3 tommorow...... Who knows, maybe they make a patch for Wc3 with 12 MB max limit for maps.....

don't even think of those things, you just KNOW they won't happen...
Okay maybe a patch will happen, but new games no...
And, don't try to talk back if you have something similar to say with no real "proof" they are doing these things.

actually, i want it because its allows you to play over a lan without the needing to have one copy of sc2 for every pc you have in your network, neither the needing to have every one of them with internet access.
but, yes, lan support will allows pirated/privates servers.

But SC1 is still played and streamed in competitive level. I dont know about WC3. Is it? And a lot of players from WC3 changed to SC2.

I just found out that even Grubby is playing SC2. He was my fav. player in WC3. :<
http://www.justin.tv/followgrubby#/w/1466887312/3

Moon also changed to SC2.

Warcraft3 isn't a competitive game since before the release of SC2. Not in WCG or any other tournaments.

And I thought we were talking about lasting as a popular game, because if we are talking at the level of '1 person is playing it! it's not dead folks' than this poll is useless : P

Well, at least we do know that Warcraft III mods are still popular (The reason I said mods is because I know that some maps do have the potential to become as popular as DotA), so yep, I doubt Warcraft III will actually die like normal games would.

They wont. Be popular. Never.

They will be "more popular" when Dota 2 is released but thats only because it will take most of the "wc3 players" (dota-guys) away from wc3.

Wc3 wouldn't die out fast because of the infinite posibilities in the maps we play :D
I did a calculation a few days ago to find the number of possible wc3 map terrains with only default doodads and I came up with something like 3*10^76 :D

If you want WC3 to live on, we need to come up with a new map Genre :l

WC3 players are leaving wc3 behind most likely because they're bored.

If we can come up with a new map genre, we might be able to bring in more players :D

True, so therefore Warcraft III and other games will still live peacefully without the fear of dying out unless somehow somebody starts to make their games play rickrolls.

I wouldn't actually mind that, as long as it keeps the community alive:)
Anyways, I'm sure Warcraft III will last for a very long time...

Warcraft III will not last untill the day after tomorow, if you havent seen southpark it's the day before the day after tomorow ;)

Still a lot of players is playing Diablo 2. I think wc3 has obtained somewhat the same status, cult or classic, whatever. I still know a lot of people that play wc3, both online and offline, I especially among my offline friends, wc3 has never been more popular than now. Starcraft 2 simply hasn't evolved enough yet, and still suffers from certain game-play screw-ups that hinders its spreading.

I've been playing Blizzard games since the first Starcraft came out. I know warcraft is much older but every time I re format my computer the first game to install is wc3.

But the survival of any community in long term is always based on new people joining it.

Starcraft 1: 1999

Warcraft 3: 2002/2003

WTF? Warcraft is older? or do you mean warcraft: orcs and humans?

People underestimate the staying power of this game. The community certainly isn't growing much anymore, but it's getting smaller at a considerably slow rate. I predict it still has a solid few years before it starts to feel deserted.

You need to remember that while Starcraft 1 may be outdated with the release of SC2 and its expansions, Warcraft 3 is, as of now, the only Warcraft strategy game, and people still play it for that reason.

DotA players aren't Wc3 Players to me. Because DotA itself hasn't much to do with the original Warcraft 3. It's just based on the same engine and made in Wc3's Mapeditor.

Although I do notice that there are still quite a lot of players playing other custom games too, and they seem quite decent:)

Warcraft 3 will (probably) die when Warcraft 4 comes out. But no way before.

I Seriously think warcraft's rts gameplay is dead, and blizzard moved to mmorpg...
so i think warcraft IV will never be released

The game it self will die out soon. But it's legacy and everything good about it lives on.
As long as Video games exists, it will live on. Every game will have at least one thing in common with Wc3
