Story

The Humans of the Empire, who fought the Demon invaders for years, after the end of the so called Voidwar, now face a new strong invasion force. New ships have arrived from the other side of the Great Sea and the Humans prepare to defend themselves against the incoming invasion.
Command General Blen Greymoore, one of the best generals of the Empire, and his allies and face the new Demon Invasion. Defend the kingdoms and defeat the ruthless and merciless Legions.

Campaign Series Info

The Legends of Arkain is a campaign series which takes place on the world Arkain.
The races of Arkain fight against the demon invaders, who try once again to enslave every being on Arkain. The Humans, the Orcs and the Undead will have to make a stand against them... or face complete annihilation or enslavement by the Demons.
This campaign series will consist of actually three different series. There will be a Human, an Orc and an Undead campaign series. They will all run in the same timeline but will present three different stories and outcomes. When they are all finished, it's completely up to you, who wins this conflict.
Those, who win the war, will write the history.

Features

- Three different storylines/campaign series
Take control of one of the three factions, the proud Humans of the Empire, the plundering and strong Orc Clans or the mysterious Undead Nexus and their endless army of the dead, and face the demonic invasion as well as other struggles that await you.
- New units
Command units, you already know, as well as completely new units with new upgrades and abilities.
- Decide the fate of Arkain
At some points of the campaigns, you'll have the opportunity to decide things, that affect the storyline, characters and sometimes even the chapters you play or how you have to play them. By doing or, well, not doing certain side quests, you can also affect the campaign.
- Three difficulties
You can play the campaign in either easy, normal oder hard difficulty, just like in the original WC3 campaigns. It will impact on the AI difficulty and scripting as well as other minor changes.
In easy version, for example, the AI won't rebuilt lost buildings.

- Full Jass AI
In this campaign series, every single AI is written in Jass instead of being created with the AI editor. This makes the AI more intelligent.
- Universal Hero hotkeys
All hero abilities use the QWER hotkeys.

Factions

The Human Empire
There have always been Humans on Arkain. The Human kingdoms and their allies, the Elves and Dwarves, have fought the Demons for centuries while also being attacked by orc pillagers. They had no chance against the demons and were already close to annihilation, when the Empire showed up.
They came over the Great Sea in the west and saved the kingdoms, who immediately joined the Empire in return. The Humans still fight the Demons and more and more of them join the fight against their old suppressors.
The Humans already tried to get rid of the Demons for good, but they failed. However, they continue fighting and won't stop until there are no humans or enemies of humanity anymore.
The current Emperor is Theodor the Second.

The Orcish Clans

Legends say that the Orcs hail from another continent and then spread all over the kingdoms. But not even the oldest Orcs can tell, if that's the true or the Orcs have been here all the time, just like the other races.
But it is known that the united clans attacking absolutely everything and everyone they met and conquered a large territory. It did work for a while, but not long. The other races, especially the Demons, who were very angry about that insult, brought the fight to them and massacred half of the green skins.
The Orcs had to retreat and lost much of their territory. The only reason, why half of them are still there, is that their enemies fought among each other as well.
The Orc Clans allied with the Trolls, to increase their strengh, but still didn't manage to gather an army, that was comparable to their old numbers. Since they weren't able to begin their another huge conquest, the clans stopped working together and some old rivalries amongst the clans became important again.
Still, they managed to raid the other races and remain an annoyance for the other factions. There are still many Orcs left, which could prove to be a strong force, if they'd be united under a strong leader.

The Undead Nexus

The Undead are the most mysterious race of Arkain. Of course, necromancers and necrolytes are not unknown and have always summoned some undead servants to do their bidding, but the Undead as a complete race are a mystery to all creatures.
Once, a group of mighty necromancers, who became insane because of their immense power, believed they could rule the world with an army of the Living Dead. However, only days after they began attacking the Human kingdoms, they simply vanished. Their armies were gone and only the remains of the corpses were proof, that they ever existed.
What no mortal and no Demon knows, is, that a powerful Archlich, Aridon the Watcher, self-proclaimed guardian of Arkain, took care of them. He has the ability to take control of every Undead, he wants to control. He uses this power only, to make sure, that besides him is no one, who can form a real army of Undead. He always made the Undead kill their masters and reanimated them as his loyal servants.
The only mighty Undead, not currently living on the Dead Mountain, are guarding old temples and ruins, which contain artifacts, not meant to fall in the hands of neither mortals nor Demons. Still, they all call Aridon their master.
Aridon and his Undead live on the so called Dead Mountain, which lies within the Human kingdoms. Every sent expedition on this mountain never returned, so the Humans decided to simply ignore it and built a garrison to watch over the only entrance to the mountain.
Aridon claims to be as old as the world itself and has seen the rise and fall of races and nations. His goal is to maintain the balance of the world - or at least, what he sees as balance. He stayed out of every conflict and only watched for millenia.
But recent events force Aridon to end his idleness and take action himself instead of only manipulating others. He'll have to make the world know about the Undead - and give reason to fear them.

The Demon Legions

If there are any creatures besides the Undead Lord Aridon, who are as old as Arkain itself, than it must be the Demons. These creatures have been the bane of Arkain for a long, long time. If their history contains anything else than attacking and enslaving other races, than only the Demons know about it.
Every Demon Legion is lead by its most powerful Dreadlord. Who is the one, who commands all Legions, is unknown to every non-demon.
The Demons' realm lies in the East of the continent and is seperated by a bottomless rift, the so called Void. No one, except for Demons and their slaves, has ever been on the other side of the Void. The Void is so heavy fortified by the Demons, that they managed to block every attack there. The Void is also the place where the Imperial Army was defeated during their Great Attack.
Now, the Demons seem to begin another great offensive against the other races. And this time, they are determined to be victorious and won't show any mercy.

This campaigns completely does not adhere to the progressive difficulty principle; later missions in the campaign should be the ones harder than the previous ones since the player will have much more experience the more he progresses through the chapters.

Any info on Lord Margazar? He seems like an interesting demon since he doesn't want to kill honorble warriors as he says. :)

Oh and also info on the forgotten and their leader Raszar would be nice :D

BTW how much will/would the events in the 2nd human book change if the girl (forgot her name) doesn't absorb any of the demon artifacts? You know since she would be "clean" from demonic energies and corruption.

I loved the campagin as i did for the orc campaign!! I'm currently in the dwarf chapter playing zarin hammerfell. I noticed that its almost immposible to attack a base without leaving the whole army to defend! the hardest so far :( I had to cheat to destroy the first orc base to at least start being offensive a bit and win the battle by taking base by base since their forces were weakened after i got the first base!
I like Blen's and Zarin's characters, and i sense that Garod's evil, just like Arthas from Azeroth, and i can't wait to finish this campaign as well as the next human book!!
good luck

Ahh i see.
So is there any info on either 1) Lord Margazar. 2) the unknown green human faction(played 2nd book, still clueless to who they are) or 3) Raszar and the forgotten faction?
The green human base was under high lord inquisitor orders on a secret mission. Marithos or Gerothos or whatever his name (the traitor) suggested to the player to destroy it and the player was wrong to do it. It is revealed in the second human's book prologue and high lord inquisitor imprisoned the heroes for it along with "assisting" the traitors. However, i still don't know if not destroying the green human base will ulter the heroes' imprisonment in second human book's prologue..

No it will not .Even if you reject the demonic powers for the human mage he will still imprison you.
Also the green human base was only scouts

If you take careful look, there's no night elf in this campaign history. Night elves doesn't exist in the story, as far as I am aware of.

Bug: When using Gardon's Roar and Blen's Edict, whichever is used second replaces the first, and the buff icon disappears.
There's a problem with the batrider and bear rider models, they're not exactly where they should be (as in, if the cursor for a targeting ability is right over the unit, the game doesn't consider it as being under the cursor).
Secret level: I don't know if it's intentional or not, but you can see Larisa's face from behind due to her transparency.
Chapter eleven: Mission doesn't show up in the campaign menu.
* The Kasrkin don't send any troops.
* Orcs aren't attacked by spawns.
* Captured both buildings, but I didn't see any difference in the spawns.
* Buildings don't give bounties.
* Killing buildings doesn't seem to affect spawns.
* Invulnerable paladins caused Merlon to wait in a corner of the brown base.
* Aedale's spawns sometimes just stop moving. (As an aside, you can't really blame the other side for yelling about traitors when you see the minions she sends).
* South allies don't send heroes.
* North allies keep getting destroyed by paladins resurrecting everyone. Even when giving the allies all upgrades from the start.
* Allies don't get ranged units.
* If Blen and/or Harmos are dead when the fortress falls, they aren't present in the cinematic, though they still talk.

Is there a timeline somewhere to show when the different campaigns' missions take place in relation to each other?

What is it the stable and elite traning ground beside your base, guarded by demons, do in the last mission when you take control of them?

Commenting to rate - easy 5/5. I find the macro portions to be all about sending wave after wave after wave, which is surprisingly unique for Warcraft 3 - some folks are divided on how engaging they find this, but I've been having plenty of fun. I have no idea how most of these optional quest choices and direct narrative decisions will affect things long term. Even if the effect is minimal, they are presented really well such that I care about the story and want to make the "right" choices by putting some thought into it.

Has anyone beaten this on hard? I'm stuck on Green Wave. That level was a bit challenging on Normal, now on hard it's pretty frustrating. Just wanting any tips someone who has beaten it might have. As in which base you attacked first, how much defense did you set up. Etc.

Well i personally the first thing i did was to train grypthons and destroy the green outposts because they were very annoying.Second i would suggest to take down purple and red bases first since they are completly cut of from the others.Next i took the darkmind base.About that you should know that stunning Rath is very important because if he manages to cast his ultimate he will neutrilize your army

Spam gryphons and tanks only since the start, wait for reinforcement and attack red's base with elves, bait the bladestorm - fall back - kill hero, kill the rest with gryphons, start clearing his base from right to left (there will be rebels at the left side). You can also leave some units at your base to lure orcs into the elf base if you want to save your castle, not a big deal even if they destroy it just don't claim this goldmine again. 3 cannon + 4 guard towers should be enough for the start. Don't train bear riders in this mission, riflemens + gryphons are much better - kite if needed. Defend elves - go for purple whenever they attack, then blue - hero 1st. I hope that's what you meant by "Etc"

You should find out yourself.

I retryied the ''defence of home'' chapter and once more nothing hapenned. Is gardon or whoever you ask for aid supposed to instantly appear in the deserted base ???Also what's the purpose of the group of elven vilagers just outside my base are they just for decoration or they have a role to play ???

I recall there's a delay between the allies arrival and the time you sent that messenger.

This was a great fun campaign to play. I really liked how each choice we made created it's own set of consequences. I've only done one play through but the nature of the choice game ensures that I will do another one to see how different choices affects the outcome of events.

Though one thing I notice was that the choice to kill Salana's apprentice and the unknown soldiers were treated with a sense of ambiguity on whether or not they would carry forward. So I'm curious will the prologue/first mission of Legends of Arkain Human Book 2 have a flashback choice selection to reflect our choices or will the sequel reveal which storyline paths were canon?

Especially thank you for making Undead race, dont know if i like the game itself, but just for this 5/5 from me, i will gladly play for them.

EDIT: didnt know there are different downloads for each race)) deleting this one. Anyway i leave my rate untouched at least for the great job you have done/doing.

Hey I downloaded all 3 of the first book and for some reason I can't play them, I've copied and pasted them in the Campaigns file in Documents, it shows that they're there, I select Play Campaign, I'm in the chapter selection, I click on the prologue, the screen turns black and nothing happens. Can someone please help me?

There is definitely a bug in chapter 5, defence of home.

For me too, the ally never arrived (I requested Gardon). After one minute or two, the "ally" base was revealed to me, but it never produced any unit, nor was there Gardon. I played on patch 1.27 FYI.

I was still able to complete it in hard, but only because the difficulty has been toned down since the first version.

I played defence for over an hour, waiting for the requested ally to arrive, but when my secondary goldmine (the one in the forest) collapsed, I decided to go on the offence by myself anyway. If I wasn't sitting on a 50K gold stockpile, I would never had made it. Destroying the orange castle and orange peasants wasn't too hard, and I could clean up their military structures without too much losses ; however when I wanted to establish a base there I had to begin fighting the green base continuously, forming hundreds of units to outmatch the enemy stream, and build dozen of towers to be able to regroup, let my gold reserve go up, and repeat the process against the yellow base.

I played till Chapter 5 for now. I got a bit borred with the time and thats why I play the chosen ones.
I like the big battles and the constantly blood shed. It's awesomely done. I just get a bit borred with the time, always defending and sending troops to attack etc.
For me it's a bit too time consuming cause every chapter takes me atleast 1 hour. Maybe I am a bad player or there are just too many enemies..
Either way I give you 4/5. I also like the story even if it's not that special.
