What is it?
Astro Wars is a pvp capture the flag map set in space. I forked my previous project Asteroids and improved the engine a good bit to create this.

How do I play?
Astro Wars differs from most maps in that it uses WASD controls. Right now, keybindings are static, but I plan to make them dynamic in the future. Use W/S to accelerate/decelerate your ship, and A/D to turn. Press spacebar to fire your primary weapon. Charge your ultimate ability in various ways, such as hitting enemies with missiles, healing allies, capturing, and killing. The objective of the game is to enter the enemy's base, capture their satellite, and bring it back to your base. The first team to capture a satellite 5 times wins!

Ship Info
Currently there are 6 different ship types to choose from.

==JUGGERNAUT==

TANK
A strong ship that fires rockets.
Abilities
Forward-projected shield
500 health, regenerates when inactive
Cryo Blast
Slows enemies
[ULT] Black Hole Launcher
Fires a missile that creates a black hole on impact

==ARCHDRUID==

TANK
A strong ship that fires enchanted bolts.
Abilities
Deflection
Charge this ability by hitting enemies with bolts. Activate to deflect incoming projectiles.
Spear of the Ancients
Stuns and knocks an enemy back.
[ULT] Conjure Asteroids
Summons a protective ring of asteroids that guard from projectiles and can be launched at enemies for massive damage.

==RUNNER==

DAMAGE
A dexterous ship that fires lasers.
Abilities
Boost!
Temporary speed boost
Missile Salvo
Fires 7 missiles at once
[ULT] Death Beam
Activates a large beam, deals high damage

==EREDAR FIGHTER==

DAMAGE
A high-tech ship equipped for close combat.
Abilities
Activate Cloaking Device
Turns the ship invisible
Open Wormhole
Opens a wormhole connecting the ship's current location to a target location
[ULT] Swarm
Unleashes a swarm of alien creatures to eat away enemy ships

==AUXILIARY==

SUPPORT
A utile ship equipped with a healing beam.
Abilities
Homing missiles
Fires up to 2 homing missiles
Nanomachine Burst
Reduces enemy armor
[ULT] Inspire
Increases an allied ship's armor and HP regeneration

==WITCH DOCTOR==

SUPPORT
A mystical ship that fires sticky magical orbs.
Abilities
Tether
Binds to an allied ship, tether damages enemies on contact
Toggle Tether
Swaps between healing and speed boosting the bound ship
[ULT] Stasis Bubble
Traps an enemy in a stasis bubble until it expires or is destroyed


OTHER NOTES:
As was the case with Asteroids, this map is still pretty early in the development stage, and as such, I have left the debug library on to help catch any errors that may exist. I plan to add more ships and also role selection, but for now, we have what we have. As far as balancing goes, I haven't done a whole awful lot of work for that, it's just vibes based right now. Also, the map is currently open source for learning purposes (but does require my extended gui mod to be opened in the editor). Almost all of the systems in this map are from scratch, and I'm quite proud of them and therefore would like to share them. However, I do not give permission to anyone to take this map and make your own version of it. Please don't make me regret not protecting this map.

It's a nice little thing however quite clunky. Map edges need to be better defined and the bases a bit farther from them since everything you bump into including the flag gets you a bit backward. Enemy ships could potentially block you that way...

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
