Advices:
- Fix grammar mistakes
- Improve the terrain
- Tooltips are nice but not great, they can be improved
- You can remove the camera lock by Ctrl + C
- Would be more mysterious if you made ''Masked Area is partially visible" disabled from map editor.
This is my personal review, if you dislike it or feel it's unfair by any means, feel free to inform me and I'll delete it from your map's page. I'll update my review to a higher rating if you fix the changes I requested.
Ok, this map is great, and was fun. But i never managed to complete it. ...But not because of difficulty.
https://puu.sh/xBgFI/1a00019594.png
I think you understand very quickly what i meant.
The cinematic played, and for some reason, i was outside the arena.
Anyway, to talk about it quickly :
-Huge lack of items. And there seem to be no upgrade for the weapon, which is kinda sad, since the shield does get one.
-The corpse warden is simply unfair, because of our short vision range. I was turning a corner, and here he was! One death. Then, i was simply walking a straight way, Bing! one more quick death. Either give us a very slighter bigger vision range, so we have time to react, or make his view shorter.
-The "umbra" transformation. Never, ever, AGAIN i will use it, if i was to play that game again. I had a lot of damage, thanks to the damage tome ( around 45-50? ) And once i used this transformation, i've lost every damage bonus. I was back to "17-27".
-The game become extremely easy for me due to a bug : At one of the channeler, one of them summon a UNLIMITED army of skeleton, even after his death. So i was able to get 250 mad souls easily.
-The curse of the vampire is removed once you die once, same for the life drain elixir. ( But you do keep the spell. )
Thanks for your reply!Seems Tarkus always get himself glitched out of the Cognito's room at the end of the cinematic
Same as #6
When you transform into the void caller or that umbral demon,You lose the "Blood Rend" ability granted by the doctor,Is that intended?
You can "Kick" those "rift"(Green Orb) to smash the door around the first boss room,Left door leads to a bunch of power-ups,but the right door leads to the exit, and the combat music is still playing if you try to make a run for it,I really don't know it's a bug or something else.
Also, the quote of first boss sometimes don't despawn and linger within the Tenebris for all eternity.
"Kicking" mobs onto trees can destory them, If some secret involves destorying trees,it will be quite painful to encompass all the possibilities.
And last suggestion...the weapon sound of Tarkus sounds like hammer,it's literally "hit like a truck",suggest replace it with slashing sound of footman or blade master(I'm using a CN version of warcraft and don't know the name of weapon sound)
After all it's a good map and fun to play
and sorry for bad English
Btw,the music played for Cognito is "Knight Artorias" form Dark Souls OST, but I forget or don't recongize the other two music....
Hey I played your map and really enjoyed it. Haven't finished it yet but here are some things i noticed while playing:
- it doesn not show cooldown on Band of the Ashen king
- Doctor has no portrait
- you can attack the green orbs and get souls after the knight boss is dead
- creeps are not challenging, makes the game a bit boring between bosses
- i used umbral form in fight against Cognito and I couldn't attack him, almost lost the fight because of it
cannot attack transgessor boss because there is wave spawner under him, it makes it very hard to select him and not the wave spawner
EDIT: oh and shouldn't the map be called Descent of Tenebris? would make more sense imho
1. Hero selected during cinematic mode.
2. I guess he should be more shocked when first seeing his neighbour than after he kills him.
3. Why are there spots on the map revealed from the start?
4. Can you not make the Band of the Ashen King be instantly cast instead of having to select the hero? Same with the Strange Necklace and many other icons. You'd probably need dummy caster units for some like those with abilities like Frost Armour.
5. Would be nice for Crush to make propelling enemy units damage others in the way.
6. Avoid playing music through the sound channel. Use the other Play Music trigger.
7. There's a "I'm so sorry" message stuck near the western stone rift. Still remained after the Fallen was defeated.
8. Would be nice for the Styx spell to have a (T) after its title as the other spells (have their hotkeys).
9. You can use the Rift Stones after battling the Fallen to gain experience. Even though you attack it once, if you stay near it a while longer more than 1 zombie appears. You can battle a lot of them with Styx.
10. If you move the Rift Stones with Crush, the Broken Ones still appear where they first did.
11. I killed the Soul Eater that I dragged near the spikes at the beginning (first boss), this, after I returned from the Fallen. On the spikes there was the Executioner. Should it have appeared like that? Killed him too
12. The Crimson Key spell deals damage before the meteors touch the ground.
13. I suggest a nicer description for items. Example (I'm saying, it needs to look more organized, not cluttered):
A blood key that contains chaos beneath its metal.
Ability: Summons chaotic fire form the sky dealing value damage. Also adds value whatever.
Mana cost: 30.
Cooldown: 18 seconds.
14. You should create optional quests in the Quest Log about things like the doc asks for.
15. Seems Crimson Key's ability stuns for a really big amount of time. Poor Festering Demon.
16. There was a neutral Lost Memory in the southeast where a lich which summons too Shamblers is and a screaming creature also is.
17. Why can't he place the bone himself in the luggage?
18. If the Transgressor is so powerful, why does it need the Fallen? Plus, I'm sure I would have beaten those in that room.
19. Why do you have to disable the player's control over the hero for the rolling stone doors to open? At least if the camera panned over/to them.
20. Alright, so Crimson Key stuns indefinitely.
21. There might be an issue with the teleporting boss (Solitaris?) which might make it/him not teleport from a position where the player already is (happened on the southwest position).
22. Styx and Umbral spells do not have their titles all coloured like the other abilities.
23. Umbral Longsword does not have a working ability. Or is it intended to be used in Umbral form? For some reason it worked on the green mage in the city. I had 2nd level Umbral Form learned but not activated.
24. The above mentioned item's ability cooldown is activated by using the Possessed Kite Shield's ability.
25. Not sure if intended but Crush makes nearby trees break when an enemy is hit by it.
26. How are you supposed to know of creatures like the Executioner if you don't return to the spikes for instance? It was an accident I've found him.
27. The Warned didn't get to me because of some distance and turned back; I got out of the city but the reddish hue and camera shake did not stop.
28. Cognito's replies in are random Warcraft III lines.
29. You can select the Transgressor's Void Spawners, even see their health bars. Use Locust ability on them or are you using an ability on them?
30. How can you dodge/run away from those black-white spheres? They follow you indefinitely untill you die. Alright, the trick seems to be not to go near the boss or on the blighted zone so it won't call those spheres. Just wait for it to summon spirits and destroy them to deal damage to the boss. If any spirit is summoned behind it, use the Wither in Umbral Form not to apporach the blighted zone. The boss does not deal too much damage without those spheres.
31. Once the camera is reset, for instance by pressing DELETE, it does not get back up.
32. Transmissions run too fast during the last scene.
33. Well, you could have put in more philosophy. Dialogues aren't convincing.
All in all, a really good game, straightforward though with not many choices.
Approved.

Im glad you enjoyed it friendSo, I just played it and was really hyped for it. It was creepy since the begining, but I got used to it and it was really amazing since the begining till the first boss. Then moving on it was still interesting and I got along with the doc and all but then the ending....
Errors:
- Kite Shield when upgraded has no manacost shown (move the spell to the first location, that should show it)
- Kite Shield and the sword have shared cooldown (dunno if intended, but I suppose not)
- The sword can be "clicked" on and the "spell" can be targeted but nothing happens, only the spawn then appears after the unit's death
- The Umbral Spawn has a tooltip of ghoul...
-Doctor's Luggage has a tooltip of a peasant (I believe)
- Band of the Ashen King is missing the visual effect for cooldown (can be fixed by moving the spell to the first location in the list again)
- Durning the mage, my stats changed names - int stayed Will, agi - i'm not sure of it, but Str became from Might to Strength again
- Tome of Inteligence - dunno if error or just intended, with Int changed to Will I suppose it was meant to be changed but keeping it isn't an issue as it can have some inner sense
- Umbral form is completly broken - not that it would be too strong, actually, it's useless - costing 120 mana, reducing damage back to 10 and giving a 15 manacost spell that deals 200 damage 'instantly' wasn't really instant, as it has 1-2 sec channel....
- The Exiled Demon was damn annoying to fight against, the repositioning was difficult to note as I didn't know where he would be next time
- The boss difficulty was too... inconsistent...
- I didn't find the secret message, so it's either not obvious or I am blind... T_T
- The first one (The first Fallen) was too dificult and didnt really work, when i summoned the restless, he didn't really go after them and even if, one slash of sword killed easly an army of 10 that I did with the illusion, so there was really no point in creating them, I only did the illusion and hit him and then ran around waiting for cooldowns...
- The second (Solitaire?) was too easy, he dealt basicly no damage to me thanks to the coin's regeneration and mana wasn't needed since he dealt basicly no damage
- The third (Congito) was extremly difficult, the walls were weak, the bolts were easy to dodge and the books didnt do much so I didn't really have problem with being damaged too much, but having 10 damage against a 2500 HP boss proved to be too little and I had to cheat to do anything
- The fourth (Transspirit) was even worse, not only i couldnt target him (saying that I cant target air units), he also dealt MUCH more damage to me, so I was glad I managed to write whosyourdaddy and kill him, then the cinematic kinda bugged but that was predictible becouse of the cheat
- not really a boss but... (Corpse Warden) she was really annoying becouse I knew she is revealed, but the moment she enters my camera bounds she teleports to me and I can't outrun her, I can't surive her in any way and she took all my lifes I could spare :\
So that's about it, some of these are easly solved, some are not, but I think that this map (or campaign if you'd include some more maps, with this quality, it could be really succesfull) is really amazing and I enjoyed playing it (not running around the Fallen though... )
4/5, will be 5/5 after the bosses are rebalanced and spell fixed for sure
T
Im glad you enjoyed it friend
Been an interesting experience this as the community finds all these bugs I never encountered personally.
Also thanks so much for adding fixes to some of my map issues as Im new to triggers and it's my weak spot ; _ ;
Sorry about the 10 damage thing, the Umbral form is being reworked hard as there are countless issues with it.
As for second main boss, it's been tricky balancing him because if I buff him even slightly, he runs you over in his rage(red) form.
Otherwise he does nothing (
Yep the Final boss is non target-able and walking near him will have you demolished by dark magic. Attack the splinters!
Thanks for the awesome review ^__^
Haha glad she gotcha good Since she is visible at all times I prefer it an instant death hahahGood one!
I especially how scary you made the Corpse Maiden or what's her face. I jumped the first time I encountered her.
It would however be fair to be able to escape her somewhow.
That was a really good map,not perfect but i enjoyed it a lot.
I have a question, where can i find the track you used durning second boss battle?
Glad you liked it, ill be updating and fixing some issues along with making more content. Although uni work and a second map are draining that time a little
Track is Pinwheel Theme Dark Souls 1
Also, I think you mean DESCENT instead of DECENT. Descent is a verb, 'descending to tenebris'; whilst DECENT is an adjective, e.g. 'To be decent' or 'to have decency'.As for the name, The Decent of Dark/Darkness makes sense to me xD
Thanks for the review friend )
Will do soon, cheersPlease add the RPG tag and remove the Campaign and Cinematic ones since this map isn't part of a .w3n file and isn't only a cinematic map.
Also, I think you mean DESCENT instead of DECENT. Descent is a verb, 'descending to tenebris'; whilst DECENT is an adjective, e.g. 'To be decent' or 'to have decency'.
Descent of Tenebris makes a lot more sense, however it implies that Tenebris (the subject according to the syntax) is 'descending'.
If by that you mean the Fall of Tenebris or something of the like, it sounds fine considering what happens...(spoilers so won't elaborate further).
However, if you actually mean something like "(the fallen's) soul's descent TO Tenebris" then it would make even more sense, provided that you replace 'of' by 'to'.
Still, The Descent of Tenebris could be OK if "The Descent of Tenebris" as a whole acts as a noun phrase, signifying a sort of stage (the first one) of the long path souls must travel in the afterlife.
If you have any doubts of anything I have said, please point them out; I'll be pleased to elaborate further.
Actually this is an awesome review, thanks man! I'm currently bogged down with university work and a second map, so if you are willing to help with the tooltips and other silly mistakes I would be super grateful and have yah written down as co-authorI really liked your map! I must have downloaded the first version (downloaded september 18) because I had issues with both Tradissiet 0109 and 0108.
1. When I killed 0109 last, the gates closed and I faced a bunch of demons that spawned, but the gates would not open again and I was effectively trapped. Had to load my last save.
---
2. When I killed 0108 last, it appears that the trigger Death of Tradissiet 2 did not turn on because the shamblers kept spawning endlessly and things started getting buggy after that. Loop1 did not turn off.
I don't know how you fixed those two but it might have to do with the fact that both are initially on, rendering the Tradissiet Death triggers useless. But I'm not a trigger expert so I can't be sure of this.
These two bugs did not occur every time. Only when those Tradissiets were killed last. I had no problem with the other one since it has no triggers.
---
3. As many have stated, you get teleported out of Cognito's room after the Cognito Intro animation. I reckon you must haved fixed that by adding:
"
Unit - Move (Triggering unit) instantly to (Center of Walkto <gen>)
"
at the very end of the "Intro Cognito" trigger.
That's how I did it anyhow and it worked perfectly.
Also, after the cinematic the view got changed to the normal Wc3 view and I was able to freely move the camera, and I couldn't help but take a peek to the ultimate boss's room and got a huge spoiler... that was a bummer.
---
Also the doctor's luggage has a ghoul tooltip lol.
Overall great job! It needs some refining though as any other new map.
If you would like that, I can help you as much as I can with grammar and rogue tooltips and things like that.
EDIT: Silly typos.
Hahaha yeah for such a weak boss his theme is actually really good.I would love to see a sequel or entire campaign based on this.
Yes,i figured it out on my own, pinwheel is just so weak that i never heard his theme for more than 20 seconds.
Sounds like a plan... I will download the latest version and send it to you with my modifications, together with a detailed change log. Once it is done I will send it to you via e-mail (If you have a better way in mind, please do tell me), I'll be expecting the adress in my inbox. Will do soon, cheers

I thought the same! However I think the story of Tarkus should end here for the time being. Perhaps next tell the story of a Wizard/Mage, or a Wc3 Elf Priest or even Paladin sort of hero.I would love to see a sequel or entire campaign based on this.
