Inviting your friends to vote for you, bribing random members with rep and otherwise cheating with the VB poll system will get you disqualified, banned from future contests and neg-repped, depending on the severity of your case. This includes, but is not limited to, sending PMs out to various users, getting other people to send those PMs, advertising this contest on other sites with the intention to gain more votes (whether it is explicitly stated or not), and so on. If you are suspected of cheating, the staff will notify you and interrogate you.

Additionally, voting for your self is not encouraged, because the vote will not be counted anyway.

Entries that are valid on the poll doesn't equal immunity; either cheating the poll or being evaluated by the judge that your entry is violating the rules of the contest or the site's in general, automatically puts your entry at risk.

In an effort to make it a little easier to assess these techtrees, as well as just for fun, I compiled a mod like I said I could, so that you can play-test these new races against each other or against normal races. Turns out that this system won't work on Battle.net, I don't think -- but it's using Dumpling's MultiRace Template, so it's pretty cool.

Here's a link to this contest, in MOD form!

Edit: It's missing a readme currently, which would really help. Here's how to use it in three steps:
1.) Download the .zip file
2.) Unzip it right inside your Warcraft III folder
3.) Right-click "Tech8Mod.bat" and do "Run as Administrator"

Wow, that's just amazing, will test it soon :goblin_good_job:

Do you guys want a version of that mod that works on battlenet? If I made it only have 4 races like the normal game, it wouldn't need any stuff being an extra mpq and then I think it would work on battlenet.

I gotta say, I played the mod version against some computers and I got to thinking that all the races were pretty neat. I still haven't voted yet, so I should probably make up my mind on that before the poll closes.

I quite like Garfield's entry, the only thing you might watch for the next time, are heroes.
I could've made 4 heroes in like 5-7 minutes.(and I don't think that's the main idea)
Otherwise, the squad-system is really good.

I was playtesting the "Techtree Contest 8 Mod" with a friend, and apparently the code for several abilities and for the battalion systems didn't work right in it.... Has it always been like that? The night I made it I thought I tested things and they were working.
Can anyone else confirm what doesn't work? It means I may have mistranslated* the vJass to Jass.

Edit: Fixed use of the word "mistreated" when I meant "mistranslated"
