The real thing is to consider if they will have an xp system. I mean I know they won't do Heroes becuase it's not SC's theme. But I think that even if they don't add them people will be writing Triggers for a new Xp Gain system the second they get it. (and learn the code)

That is indeed true. This site has not only the name for adaptability "Hive" whats more adaptive than a hive.....A ZERG HIVE....but our site can follow up on all the latest blizzard games. When warcraft 4 comes out, Diablo 3, starcraft 2, the 9th expansion of WoW (I bet its Argus ), the new blizzard game that has'nt been invented yet. This site has EPIC potential.

Currently spore is supported by some other huge file server, so I would not bother since we are a small server, SC2 is plausable since WC3's plopularity is actually falling and it would boost us to our largest size yet. But supporting too much will result in more of the messages of overload we are suffering a lot right now.

Ultimately, the more this site diversifies, the more types of gamers it attracts, the more revenue it generates for more/faster servers. Although, on the other side of the coin, it gets harder to run and moderate as it gets larger.

Along the lines of what DSG suggested in the other topic, we're looking at ways to improve what is already here. Hopefully some optimizations will present themselves.

Maybe we could somehow get into a beta test of some sort, if only to learn the map format.

Yes Blizzard is probably more keen on supporting the modding enviroment this time around, so if we somehow got in contact with them, heck then perhaps we could get a interview, some editor peeks or something? Would be really cool if we got some "hive exclusive" info

I dought blizzard will be interested, we aint even listed on their sites if I am not miustaken, also the beta is USA exclusive, so people like me probably can not get hold of it. Best thing to do is wait and once it is released we rush to get it and undergo major changes if we see potential in it, since currently we have no clue on the editors power.

Well if we are going to expand to become a Starcraft III site as well, that means that maybe we should consider appointing another mod to help raging with the Starcraft II section? Because raging is lazy and I doubt hes gonna do anything :p

We can not become a SC2 site untill we actually can use SC2. The beta should be comming out soon and only then should we consider looking into it, for now all we can do is talk. We have limated facts about SC2 modding and that is what this site is mostly about (modding) so currently the SC2 fourm will do and any expansions will only happen once facts are knowns about SC2 and how it works.

Starcraft2 support

from what i have seen here, it is pretty obvious that we are supporting primarily war3. if not only war3. and thats logical since its so far the strongest blizzard has. but since the new sc2 engine is gonna be stronger and capable of doing far more, will we be supporting it also?

Absolutely.

The evolution of The Hive Workshop into the realm of Starcraft II (and World of Warcraft as well, by the way) has long been under development and will take place within the next few months.

Our existing Srarcraft II and WoW sub-forums will soon be geometrically expanded to include all sections now present relative to Warcraft III (tutorials, map development, modeling, and the like).

Stay tuned and hold on to your hat!

Warcraft-Starcraft

If Warcraft dies and everyone leaves the Hive, then i think ralle should remake the skins or anybody else and etc. The it would look like a Starcraft forum, making the fans of starcraft come here + this forum will be more popular then ever! Learning the new editor of the Starcraft will be a journy, making new terrain will be interesting. Then make one forum about warcraft to the users that still love warcraft so they dont leave the hive and start looking, lurking and wondering for a site that is maybe still alive.

I think the Hive should evolve to become both Wc3 and Sc2 forum. Just add sections for Starcraft just as they are now for Warcraft modding, hosted projects, tutorials etc.

Mostly probably people will switch from Warcraft to Starcraft and its new editor to keep making maps with some future and potential.

The only ways to enforce warcraft are right now...
There are more possibilities :
1. Finish the RTC
2. Blizzards releases a new patch with much more features for both, game and WE
3. I finish my map...(i am so kind...)

the reason number 3 will be proved in my map's thread :D
Please click the big text in fir in my signature for this :D
And i promise it will rock...

It would be nice to have resource sections for SC2, but that requires moderators to buy the game, and I for one won't be getting it since I'd have to buy a graphics card for a computer that isn't even mine (I'm running integrated graphics bitches!). We don't have anything setup yet (as far as I know) so my guess is the transition to this site being a SC2 mod site will be somewhat slow, but within a year.

There is no telling if this site will have as much success with Starcraft II as it had with Warcraft III.

There are already Starcraft II modding sites established and eagerly awaiting Starcraft II while establishing a future community of modders. If the Hive wants to be a big banana (Lol) when Sc2 comes out the transition needs to be quicker than 1 year.
