Specifically, Chapter Three will not load at all.

In a daring campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, Illidan faced off against the death
knight Arthas in an attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. However, Arthas defeated Illidan and left him
wounded in the snow, allowing Illidan to witness the creation of the new Lich King.

Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, realising their defeat, brought Illidan with them as they fled back to
Outland. Seeing their master's ugly wounds, they decide to bring him back to the Hellfire Citadel so that
he may recover... but, unbeknownst to them, Outland was in a state of a minor civil war.

Soon after that, tensions rise in the blood elven society as the Grand Magistrix Alessandra Katryne
proposes a dangerous idea: reclamation of their homeland, Quel'Thalas.

hello for some the skin for the blood knight dont work and it shows the sentry model pleass help

This is an issue with recent patches to Warcraft 3 - it changed the locations of some files and folders, and consequently changed and thus broke the path to that particular custom model. It will almost certainly be addressed in the planned update Tomoraider referenced just two posts above yours.

Unfortunately, until he completes that update, there's not much that can be done.

@tomoraider : Hello again God amongest mortals.

I had a "REALLY" Crazy idea after my last post......not sure if its even possible but.......Could you make the maps Co-op-ish???..........Never mind.........its a campiagn mission....so no...no dual player mode.....crap..

The other not so crazy thing i had in mind was, could you make the starting areas a little bigger in some of the maps, played the camp again and it felt kinda cramped....maybe its just me, but a little more room wouldn't be bad.
BIG STUFF takes BIG TIME and BIG EFFORT

I agree 100%, don't feel rushed to get this out, I miss that about Blizzard, they rush stuff out the door WAY to much.

Alright, not sure yet if I'll be doing this new version of RotBE, but I've decided to do a slightly larger update to RotBE v3.0. I'll get started on it soon, I need to replay the whole campaign first, but it will include:
  • Addition of multiple difficulties.
  • New intro cinematic.
  • Most likely some minor techtree changes. The Forsaken techtree will be updated to reflect the changes in CotF v3.0.
  • Aewynne will no longer faint in the interlude between Chapter Eleven and Chapter Twelve. Because while it is hilarious, it is also dumb as shit.
  • Other minor story changes such as that.
  • Fixed UI and other issues.
  • And probably some other minor stuff!
Ou... I know its been a while since RotBE 3.0.5 is out... but I didn't even think how it will be hard to prepare translated text for dubbing (to CZE)... at least from February amateur group Fénix ProDabing working on it... I hope...
Ehmmm... will be there lot of characters quotes changes? And new intro cinematic mean no more Illidan Burning crusade or That plus something?
And Sorry for meaningless info and stupid questions ;p

Not sure how much text is going to be changed, I haven't done much work yet, but I don't intend to change much.

Yes, The Burning Crusade intro will be replaced with something new, for which I plan to use voice lines from WoW.

I think the cinematic should change. It currently doesn't work right now, but you might want to use something focus on the Blood Elf. COTF cinematic is good because the point of the whole campaign is to kill the Lich King. The burning crusade cinematic , on the other hand, doesn't really fit with your story. Maybe you can take another cutscene from WOW for Blood Elf player or something.
Anyway there are something really bother me with the black temple mission. I know there were complain the chapter was too hard so you nerf it a bit. But isn't it weird that you reduce the cost for upgrade and unit in a single mission instead of making the enemy attack with less unit?

EDIT"*Lol just found out how long my post is holy shit "*

I realy enjoyed it.I liked every chapter.they were so good that I was like "Im gonna post this chapter is my favorite one" but next chapter changed my mind.
The musics were great and made chapters more exiting.like escaping dung or tempest keep
Althought tbh(dont mean I didnt like)but I was dissapointed with some parts that you have changed about canon lore(Sometimes you gave it even more depth but Im a fking lore nerd) the thing that kael doeant give a damn about silvermoon and had to be convinced by those who betrayed and went to take it themselves.in fact kael did cared and sent Romath to teach ways of draining magic and there with his help and blood elves regained their magical powers, they retook the city.and Kael himself was not present.although it would be cool to have their prince on their side aswell while retaking the city but as I said im so hard on canon lore.(but still I love the campaign the way it is)
You realy did the"sylvanas lost no love for his kingdom"so well.
Im already at Kael's first invasion upon Illidan's fortress.
Here is my idea about each interesting chapter
Second one was realy cool with theme of "we will be conquerers of outland once again"
The next one was so cool with giving both grand magistrex and general specefic personality.I loved Lady Liadrin so much and the Blood Shed thing.so many here complain about it that after its done u kill 1000 of blood elves but as it has been said in future cinematics there was no way to avoid the bloodshed and you showed it realy well.last part of Kael's forces marching upon tempest keep was epic too.
The creaton of Golems chapter was realy interestig aswell. It was hard and I likes it.you showed the importance of golems in deafting undeads realy nice as I was able to handle with them by golems easier.
I liked "still feel smart ranger general"
The retaking of silvermoon was so good to.perfectly indicated how strong can undeads be there is a hard task upon our shoulders.we had many heroes and bcs of this we had to be worried(the enemy must be so strog that it needs this much effort)you made Kael'thas pretty strong wich I liked it(due to lore)
And the forsaken setting their base was badass too.
I made it harder for myself by like giving Lorthemar,Ranger General and Grand Magistrix the task of defeating purple base.only forsaken the yellow base and kaelthas and liadrin main base wich i did the last for epicness and made only Kael squad having golems bcs well...royal units for royal kings.
Dungeon chapter was good but you must work more on making it scary like adding some parts with strong mobs wandering around and nearly impossible to kill.giving the feeling of here is somewhere you shouldnt stay.
The intro of Darkhan boss fight is cool with spirits helping us but still it was sad that it was too easy.I tried to make it harder by doing whole chapter with 3 heroes but still easy.you must work on making strong boss fights(I hope Kiljaeden wich I know is the last one be hard bcs I want a badass fight)
Defending silvermoon was great too and again perfectly showed how strong are undeads with their strong attack waves.I again tried to made it harder with ranger general defendig those two gold mine at entrance,my sexy liadrin BE camp and lorthemar forsaken base.Could realy feel the Arthas invasion of silvermoon as blood elf view and the thing of"god damn hiw long I should foght these monsters"
Escaping from tempest keep with my sexy Liadrin was so perfect too with feelig of"lol wtf our own prince betrayed us"
I was sad for Liadrin bcs she used to respect Kaelthas so much ;_;
But still I didnt like a small part about this chapter.in lore Kaelthas was so strong willed and did not fell in Legion's service in the first encounter.(in canon lore wich Kael never return Azzeroth)Lorthemar even wanted to tell him of Aveena and inform him of a hope for sunwell's redemption but Kiljaeden made sure reports never reached him so he would finally find out the only savior for his people is Kiljaeden's fel magic.
But still it was good
As I said im already at Sieging Illidan with kael's arm.when I complete it I will tell my idea about the rest of chapters.keep making epic campaigns my friend.your jobs are truely wonderful

Yeah, I plan to make a new intro cinematic once I get to updating the campaign.

Glad you liked the campaign! Thank you for your thoughts!

First off, love your campaigns, thanks for making these. I am having a recurring issue with Aewynne's Evergreen ability though. As in, it just doesn't work most of the time. I have to sit there with my troops and cast it again and again because the invis isnt affecting anyone. sometimes it works eventually. they have the buff, but they're still visible and enemies attack them. it happens both in and out of combat, and while they're moving or still. it was annoying for mission three 'Through Fire', but manageable because i could just poly everything in sight with my army of sorceresses. For mission ten 'The Siege of the Black Temple', however, its pretty missionbreaking. has anyone else encountered this? maybe have a workaround?

That's weird. I just tried it, and it didn't happen to me. There aren't any big imports in the map itself, so I'm not sure what could be causing that...
The same problem happened for me in curse of the forsaken but I think it's about the patch of the game because I have 1.27 patch
But I played this campaign without any problem and I must admit it was pretty fantastic

Many pardons for long post !

Alright, finally finished it after 2-3 weeks.... with breaks obviously. I want to share a sort of objective opinion about the campaign, with POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD for those who haven't played the campaign yet. I played it on V1.27.

Firstly, I'd like to say that this campaign holds a special place in my heart merely because I have played it a couple of times in the past. A kid back then, I think I played the first version of it, when, in the second chapter you had your base inside the Black Citadel, then after one or 2 years I played V2.0 in which Dar'Khan Drathir had a sort of.. Tauren Chieftain model xD And now, I played it again after like 4 or 5 years... and it is a whole lot different from what I remember.

I was really hyped up when I started playing this campaign again after such a long time. The Blood Elven race has always been one of my favourite races in the Warcraft universe mainly because of their whole story arc that began in WC3 which developed and had a tie-in in WoW. However, the more I delved into the chapters, the more I found the campaign less entertaining. The first 4-5 chapters were great and a lot of fun. After the fifth one though.. things got a little bit.. hard and dull.

Maybe I should just list pros and cons.

Pros:

+ Nice new model for the shop along with new "racial" items

+ Neat custom models for most buildings and units

+ New interactive units like Blood Knight, Arcane Golem

+ Fitting quotes for the heroes and some of the units

+ Custom music soundtracks which are perfect for the BE (taken from WoW)

+ Fair representation of the events which occurred between the end of TFT and WoW TBC with the BE especially (and probably the only representation of these events in the whole Warcraft universe)

+ Alessandra's story arc is a really cool one

+ The story was told in a pretty good, coherent and cohesive way

+ The cool change of the Magic Sentry passive

+ The new hero and unit spells and abilities

+ I'm not sure if I spot all of them, but nice easter eggs, especially the one with the banshee xD

+ The optional quests are pretty high-rewarding most of the times

+ Good terrain design with neat custom tilesets in some chapters

+ Good character/hero development in terms of their story arcs

+ Fun puzzle and gameplay mechanics especially in chapters 2, 7, 10

And then, there are the cons:

- The new "racial" items from the shop represent a fresh addition to the race's specific shop.. but most of them are kinda bad:
> the only good item is Orb of Slow mainly because it's an orb which also happens to give good stats
> the Lesser Scroll of Replenishment is literally useless because from chapter 2 onwards you can train priests so you will have your units healed almost all the time, plus you will later on have Lady Liadrin and Blood Knights for AoE heals, and regarding the mana part, you have the Magic Sentry passive from towers
> would have been nice to increase the duration of the Anti-Magic Potion to more than 15 seconds to make it more race unique and more relevant
> same with Potion of Invulnerability and also.. what the frick: 400 G ??? it's 75 G at a Goblin Merchant
> don't really see the relevance of having Anti-Magic Potion if you have a Potion of Invulnerability and vice versa
> wish there were more mage-type items in the shop, considering the main race is about magic stuff, items like staves maybe, specifically a Staff of Teleportation replacing the Scroll of Town Portal or a Staff of Negation or even a Staff of Silence which Blizzard actually implented in the BE chapters of the main campaign

- Most chapters like 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12 are sorta mundane with objectives ranging from destroying bases or having to defend against swarms of enemy units

- The AI in some chapters, namely 10 and 12 is very unforgiving to the point in which I couldn't train up an army cause I was constantly defending my base from enemy units, and in chapter 12 I couldn't even get to destroy the orange base, or any base whatsoever; now, you could say that my micro skills suk which might be true but, still, the AI is kinda broken considering the enemy units started walking inside my base and this is what I found a little bit frustrating: they walked around my base having nothing specific to target and stop somewhere near my workers and start attacking them or any building with little value :T

- As long as the AI seems to endlessly attack the player in chapters 10 and 12, why not make the base a little bit well-placed ?? the position of the base is very bad specifically in these two chapters because you have to fight on two far-off fronts, plus the fact that in chapter 10 your units struggle to move through the narrow places between the main buildings :T

- Having only Kael to defend the base in chapter 10 is not enough; kinda wish he had his old banish

- The amount of healing, especially AoE healing, is quite ridiculous

- Wish you used the other two songs from Blizz for WC3: Last Days of the Alliance and the Blood Elf theme as they both fit in really well with the main race

- If the player has to defend a whole city from the undead in chapter 8 why control two bases ?? it's pretty hard already with the techtree and units the BE have; why not give the Forsaken another task like maybe infiltrating the enemy bases to take them out ?

- Most of the optional quests from the campaign are pretty lacklustre, either unriveting or either non-existent in some chapters in which there was a lot of quest and objective potential, namely in chapters 6, 7, 8 etc.

- Kinda wish there were more relevant neutral camps instead of enemy unit groups

- Some portions of the maps in chapters 6, 8 and 10 are simply filled with empty spaces

- Chapter 10 could use a lot more detail in terms of doodads, objects and terrain taking into consideration the lack of these when you have to infiltrate the enemy backline with Akama and Aewynne

- Also in chapter 10: it's pretty hard already to try to defend your base from oncoming Naga and Fel Orc units who, by the way, have quite a lot of significant CC and damage, while also having to micro your other forces in the north to destroy those couple Fel Orc outposts

- This is somewhat of a major con: the way the characters developed was quite nice and it was done in a specific way with certain details and story elements which is great.. the fact that you literally put Lor'themar's WoW short story inside the campaign in the form of an Epilogue feels like an antithesis to how things work in the sense of storytelling before the Epilogue, with a sort of different character mentality and new terms of vocabulary which didn't really fit in well with the words used before the Epilogue; also, the characters seem to have an abrupt change: Sylvanas helped the BE retake Quel'Thalas and they were grateful for the help she provided together with her Forsaken, then, in the Epilogue, they all argue about the fact that Lor'themar has to send BE troops to Northrend to help fight the Lich King and so Sylvanas starts acting very authoritative which is like 180 degrees from the way she spoke before the Epilogue.. it would have made a lot more sense if Sylvanas hadn't been so easily convinced to help them regarding Quel'Thalas and she could definetely have been developed in a way which would match the way she acts and thinks in the Epilogue

- No voice acting :p

Bugs:

- Might I say.. the AI ? xD
- Phoenix doesn't always morph into egg form when its health literally reaches 0; that might be Blizz's fault or mine by playing on V1.27
- Aewynne's W doesn't always make herself and the surrounding units invisible, I remember I had to load the map again from a savefile to make it work
- Not a bug, but maybe it would have been better to make Aewynne's W act like Shadowmeld so that she and her units respectively wouldn't start attacking

Conclusively, I daresay I used cheats to complete chapters 8, 10 and 12. On chapter 8, it just got plain boring when I saw that I had to defend two bases in a timespan.. and I've been defending my base for most of the time in the other previous chapters. On chapter 10, I admit.. I could have played that better and probably could have rushed the attack on the Fel Orc and Naga camps cause the rewards for destroying those were definetely really good but.. it doesn't excuse the fact that it was still very hard to defend all the time and send forces at the same time. On chapter 12, I don't think I could have done it in any other way, not even if I managed to have mass Phoenixes to try to attack the orange base cause Phoenixes don't have good damage against buildings and there was absolutely no way I could have sent ground forces as they would have been ambushed by enemy forces like Arcane Golems, Blood Knights or demons on their path. Same with the purple base. The AI in that chapter is actually broken.

All in all, I enjoyed playing this campaign, it was hella fun after a really long time of not playing the game :D You clearly put a lot of effort, work, time and energy into making this beautiful masterpiece which is one of the most recognisable works in the community. But there is absolutely a lot of room for improvement in relation to the issues I touched upon. Thus, I would rate this campaign a 3 or 3.5 out of 5. Now, I'll start playing Curse of the Forsaken and maybe provide a review for that as well if you'd like.

Congrats and keep it up !

Playing the latest version right now, it's fun. Really like the gameplay, and I like how you changed the story a bit from when Drak'thir dies forward(haven't finished it yet). Though I have to say that some things are not very well set up or explained, or are just kind of strange. Like when the Ranger General finds a base in Quel'thalas before meeting Lor'themar, it's presumably because some of her soldiers went ahead before her but it's never really explained that's the case or how they got the head start to do so since it took her little time to cross the portal to Quel'thalas(presumably). How did Alessandra and her even manage to basically conquer Tempest Keep and get to Quel'thalas if most still followed Kael? The layout of the mission made it seem like they took over the whole thing.
There are other things that seem strange to me but I don't really feel like writing them up now and I understand it's a pain in the ass to tell a story through a warcraft campaign. I mostly just wanted to congratulate you on the fun campaign and ask if you still have the older versions of the campaign somewhere? I'd really love to try them again and it'd be great to see fully how far you've come with this campaign.

Congrats and keep it up !

I agree with a lot of the issues you've mentioned, most of it is something I was already aware of and plan to fix in the future.

As for the epilogue, it is a bit out of place. Mainly I wanted it to serve as a bridge between this campaign and Curse of the Forsaken. To be completley honest, I was I think 15-16 years old when I made v2.0 of this campaign (v3.0 didn't really change the story much) and I didn't put too much thought into a lot of these things back then. There's a lot of issues with the story, but I am not sure if I want to go back and do another revamp of the campaign.

Glad you liked it the campaign! Yeah, I already mentioned above there are issues with the story.

I do have the older versions. I haven't gotten around to it, but I do plan to put them up for download at some point. Man, the v1.0 of this campaign is atrocious, but also kind of hilarious!

Haha, the first version of the campaign was around 7 chapters if I remember correctly, and there were some cool missions (except the last one where I spent nearly 3 days to figure out how to beat it)

Remember the underground mission where some weird fire ghosts told Sylvanas she was a chosen one in their fight against ice ghosts, but then it turned out the ice ghosts were actually the good guys keeping the fire ghosts at bay from burning the world? That was some weird shit, man.

Completed this today (in WC3 1.30.4).
No difficulty selection in this one?

Constantly crashes when save is loaded on some maps. Had to launch the game again, each time. Ugh...

There are invisible walls in Chapter 7 before you walk up to the locked gate.

Chapter 10 first part is extremely annoying and unbalanced, enemies are relentless (and way stronger that in any later chapters). But after you get the first Demon base support, everything becomes super easy. This was the hardest map for me, even the final chapter was much, much easier.

The epilogue was drawn out too much.

Overall, a good campaign, but not as good as "Curse of the Forsaken".

And that the orc general got more camera than Lady Vashj whose apparition was only in Chapter 1 and then in Chapter 7, you had to wait Lorthemar reinforcements from A DEMON GATE!

EDIT:

Hey guys, just wanted to post a little update on what I plan to do with Rise of the Blood Elves.

I have begun very slowly to work on a v3.1 update. I was contemplating perhaps just skipping it entirely and beginning work on a v4.0 since I have some sick ideas for that, but Reforged would come out before I would even finish that so I'd rather wait until that happens and then decide what I want to do.

The main things I plan to do with v3.1 are:
- Fix some glaring bugs and issues (the broken UI, some broken skins, and whatever else I come across).
- Add multiple difficulties and overall rebalance the campaign.
- New intro cinematic!
- Change the story a little bit. If any of you are familiar with the Sunwell Trilogy comic books, those detail Anveena's story and I have an idea of how to adapt that into the Quel'Thalas portion of the campaign without altering the story much.

So v3.1 will happen at some point, but I cannot say when. I'm just very slow this time around! actually I'm slow every time But it will happen! And a v4.0 might happen. I'm already tired of myself for wanting to do this again, but y'all some of these ideas are really good!

In the meantime, here are the download links for the older versions of the campaign. Have fun torturing yourself through v1.0:

Rise of the Blood Elves v1.0 (February 2012)
Rise of the Blood Elves v2.0 (December 2013)

The wait for Reforged isn't even that far, and who knows how the level editor will change, maybe you will be able to do better cinematics like the new Stratholme ones we've seen in the gameplay trailer... man, for a 20 years Warcraft fan like myself, this is gonna be sick. I really hope Reforged will also give new life to the Modding community (still active and giving players a lot of new ideas and ways to play every once in a while, but maybe an even better one!) since that's the main reason I kept playing, I'm not good at strategy games at all, I'm not even decent, but man, the characters, the stories, the world itself, there's so much to cover from the community that it really makes Warcraft an infinite-possibility universe.

I'm eagerly waiting for the updates, Tomo. Keep up the good work, because you're a damn good editor. <3

I'll be 100% honest. I didn't like this campaign as much as CotF for a number of reasons, still 5 stars though:
-The campaign as a whole feels several levels below CotF, no such epic interludes, chapters aren't as interesting imo(you don't have a swarm of bats slaughtering the enemy, or enemy having an ultra powerful hero that slaughters your entire army, or dungeon type missions, or controlling heroes of various factions)
-Some chapters do not have that good mechanic imo like the one where you destroy the generators and Liadrin is chasing you around. I'm also not a fan of survival missions(think they were the worst part of RoC campaigns), and here there are three, imo too many.
-Some chapters are just too hard. Like the one where you have to rescue Lor'themar while the enemy is constantly attacking you with stronger units and a hero of higher level than your. And again being honest I was unable to complete chapters where you defend Silvermoon, and chapters 10, 11 and 12 without "whosyourdaddy".
-(personal reason) In WoW lore forsaken are my favorite race and Sylvanas is my favorite character.
-(personal reason) Imo WotLK story is just better than TBC.

Things you can change, besides fixing the bugs of 1.31.1 like broken skins and stuff, if you ever update the campaign again:
-Techtree has problems. Make spell breakers be trained from arcane sanctum, and arcane golems from the building where spell breakers are trained now. Make the blood knight trained from farstrider's lodge. The reason is that you pretty much need (a few) buildings that will only train arcane golems constantly, but you also need to train quite a lot of priests and sorceresses. And once you trained 3-4 catapults you can only train arcane golems. The dragonhawk knight can be trained from the aviary, or repurposed as a wolf rider unit type.
-Make enemy archers, casters and ranged heroes not run away when your meele units get to them.(Sooooo annoying)
-Make chapter three different somehow.
-Change chapter 8. Replace survival with destroy enemy bases, makes no sense that undead would retreat when they were on the brink of annihilating you. Update forsaken race, and replace one of the heroes with Putress.
-Replace Aewynn with Halduron(though this doesn't rally matter, and I know there isn't really a good model)
-Make chapters 10, 11 and 12 somewhat easier, remove the timer from chapter 12 or make draenei your allies from the start, tone down enemy attacks in chapters 10 and 11

By the way love all the different heroes. Would say that Kael's summon phoenix is a bit OP, but considering how hard the chapters are, it's not really. Aewynn could use an autocast spell, perhapse the one that make her attack quicker.

I agree with most you said. This campaign suffers from being my first campaign and some maps not receiving larger changes since 2012. However, I am working on a v3.1 update. It won't bring any huge sweeping changes like CotF v3.0, but I'm hoping to rebalance some of the maps and add more interesting quests and mechanics. (I'm eyeing Chapters Four, Five, Six, Eight, Nine and Eleven as the ones that need updates the most at the moment.)

Honestly I loved that, AIs doing micro management better than me is kinda satisfying rather than an AI that only attacks and doesn't know which units to kill or doesn't know what to do(Arcane Golem getting inside of your base to kill most of your troops with their explosion skill, wow, magnificent)

This is much harder then curse of the forsaken, like MUCH more, almost impossible for medium players. I should say the blood elf units are so weak that it makes the player want to cheat or something. Only more experienced players like us can do a campaign of this level. This units need a serius boost of power (even with full tech they are ridiculous). Besides, I love to play it, the story was impecable. Congratulations!

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Glad you liked it! I agree, it's definitely too hard at times. The upcoming v3.1 update will include a rebalance of all maps along with an option of multiple difficulties.

Check your settings and make sure sound effects are turned on
I think he's talking about voice acting. This campaign has no voice acting in it except for some scenes where you can hear the characters speaking which I think those voices are ripped from WoW.

You're right. I was. thank you for clarifying that. Sorry my initial sentence was confusing, English is my second language and it was very late for me lol.

CotF does have some voice acting which were made by Blizzard, extracted from WoW and HotS by tomoraider and imported into his campaign.

Generally speaking, most map makers never dubbed their maps, especially campaigns.Mapmaker is a combination of programmer and artist, however probably lacking profession in the field of act.Campaigns which contain voice acting are extremely rare such as Chasing the Dawn and The Adventures of Rowan the Wise.

I believe there's also Pyritie's Adventure which has voice acting. Not a very serious campaign, but it was kinda fun.
