1) Make sure you have at least the 1.27 patch installed. The campaign WILL NOT WORK properly without it.
Specifically, Chapter Three will not load at all.
2) Download the Rise of the Blood Elves Intro cinematic and extract into your Warcraft III/Movies folder.
LINK TO THE CINEMATIC FILE
3) Download the campaign and place into your Warcraft III/Campaigns folder, or My Documents/Warcraft 3/Campaigns
if you have the 1.28 patch.
4) Play the campaign!

In a daring campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, Illidan faced off against the death
knight Arthas in an attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. However, Arthas defeated Illidan and left him
wounded in the snow, allowing Illidan to witness the creation of the new Lich King.

Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, realising their defeat, brought Illidan with them as they fled back to
Outland. Seeing their master's ugly wounds, they decide to bring him back to the Hellfire Citadel so that
he may recover... but, unbeknownst to them, Outland was in a state of a minor civil war.

Soon after that, tensions rise in the blood elven society as the Grand Magistrix Alessandra Katryne
proposes a dangerous idea: reclamation of their homeland, Quel'Thalas.

- Difficulty altered in most maps, harder maps should now be a bit easier.

Techtree Changes
- Arcane Affinity now reduces magic damage by 25% (was 20%).
- Magic Sentry now instead gives Towers the ability to increase nearby friendly units' mana regeneration.

Hawkstrider Knight
- Requires Sanctuary instead of Spire to be trained.
- Cleave now strikes 25% of damage to nearby enemy units (was 12%).

Sorceress
- Can now once again use Polymorph.
- Can no longer use Illusion.

Arcane Golem
- Resistant Skin is now called Prismatic Barrier and also gives Arcane Golems passive health regeneration.

Blood Knight
- Holy Light heals for 250 hit points (from 125).
- Seal of Protection now lasts 30 seconds (from 25).
- Wings of Retribution increases movement speed and attack rate by 40%. Has a new special effect when cast.

Ballista
- Damage buffed.

Phoenix
- No longer has Spell Immunity. Instead, has a new ability, Spell Resistance, which reduces magic damage taken by 50%.
- Now costs 7 food (from 6).

Kael'thas
- Can no longer use Summon Lava Spawn. Instead, can use Summon Al'ar, which summons Al'ar, a powerful phoenix, to fight alongside Kael'thas.

Alessandra
- Has a new voice. (Valeera from Heroes of the Storm)
- Soulburn has been significantly buffed and now drastically increases Alessandra's attack speed.
- Dark Soul's Voidlord is no longer immobile.

Lor'themar
- Has a new model and a new icon.
- Flames of Retribution no longer does friendly fire. Now costs 75 mana (from 85).
- Blood Cry now affects a larger area. Now costs 50 mana (from 90).
- Can no longer use Dashing Winds. Instead, has a new ability, Living Bomb, which adds extra damage on each attack and causes units that die while under the effect to explode, dealing damage to nearby enemy units.

Liadrin
- Has a new model, a new icon and a new voice.
- Desiccation Aura is no longer visually displayed.

Aewynne
- Paralysing Arrow's range is now 800 (was 600).
- Evergreen now costs 50 mana (from 75).
- Marksmanship has been significantly buffed and now drastically increases Aewynne's attack damage.
- Volley of Arrows no longer does friendly fire.

Sylvanas
- Has a new voice.

Kalecgos
- Has a new voice.
- Abilities are now stronger.

- Lowered all units' collision size, which should make it easier to move units around the map and reduce units getting stuck.
- Fixed a bug in Chapter Twelve which could cause the boss fight to begin at the beginning of the map.

- Fixed a bug in Chapter Nine where you could end the map early by just flying around the map with Al'ar.
- Removed the ability Web from Kil'jaeden in Chapter Twelve which could prevent Kalecgos from executing his triggers.

- Increased Kargath's respawn timer in Chapter Ten.
- Added a new gold mine in Chapter Ten.

- Chapter Ten should be a little easier now.
- Lor'themar's Blood Cry has been buffed. It now lasts for 10 seconds and affects a larger area.
- Prophet Velen has a new model.
- Aurora and Vesper are now the collect colour in the Epilogue.

- Hawkstrider Knight now costs less resources, 3 food instead of 4, and does a little bit more damage.
- Phoenix now attacks a little slower, and can no longer increase its attack from the Blacksmith upgrades.

So i just finished the campaign. Would've completed it sooner but had to leave for a day.
found a glitch in mission 12 lorthemar suddenly stopped moving refusing to do anything
As for some of the missions... yeah there pretty damn difficult but i loved every minute of it.
Can't wait to play curse of the forsaken 3.0.
this is my first custom campaign so i don't know what else to say...

This campaign is awesome, I wish it gets bigger in future :). I have a problem in mission 10 Siege of the Black Temple, Aewynnea's spell Evergreen don't work. I use the skill but my units are visible. In mission 3 this spell works fine :/. Can You help fix that ?

Maybe you run too fast after clicking on the spell, I had that issue when you use Evergreen and not wait few seconds without moving it wouldn't activate.

No, I try this spell at the beginning of the mission. It doesn't work in other missions too, I loaded few saves to check it. I remember in older version of campaign i had this same problem with this spell. In version 3.0 it works in mission 3. It's seems like units are partially under the effects of Evergreen but they are visible, there is picure of Evergreen on their status.

They only become visible when they attack some one, and if they have the Evergreen buff then they should be invisible, I have never encountered your problem before, it only bugs out for me when I move Aewynne too fast after clicking on the ability.

OK, I restarted game few times and it seems that spell doesn't work on slow game speed:D, it works fine on normal and fast. Mystery solved.

I was really impressed when at the end of your video you stressed how people playing custom content +giving feedback is how great custom content is made. Your video is great!

Thanks, I appreciate that. I know that I'm just the peanut gallery and that the creators genuinely deserve the real credit. Self motivation and discipline can go the distance, but there's nothing as good as knowing people are playing what you're making and talking to you about it. I can only showcase so much at a given time, I just hope viewers go and download stuff sometimes and help out.

This is not a review, i just want to say a few things about the project and nothing more. :p


First of, the gameplay itself is top notch. Better even than the blizzard ones in some areas.

The presentation is great also. My favorite level in fact, is the cave after the battle with the undead on quel'thalas.


The atmosphere, the music, the dark environment... That cave level was just fantastic! Well done!


Speaking of music, the World of Warcraft soundtrack is great, and it fits pretty well in a RTS. It was loud and obnoxious a few times but most of it was good. :)


If i had to say one bad thing about the campaign as a whole, has to be about the dialogue.
Sadly, it is shallow and has a lot of room for improvement!


Either way, fantastic campaign! Thank you so much for the experience and please keep at it!

Are you playing on the new 1.29 patch? Some models seem to be broken on that patch.

I think there was some issues with icons going around on the 1.19 PTR as well, iirc icons are breaking because they are an incorrect/malformed format that was slipping by before but this patch changes. This may be happening to some textures for models as well, so it should actually be a very easy fix once somebody updates some tools to export the textures with the right format/fix deformities.

Is there a way to go back patch wise xD

The PTR should have installed to a totally separate folder, so no need to go back. Your normal WC3 should have been left alone, unless you installed over it which you really should not have.

hi, ive been trying to install rise of the blood elves for a couple hours now and have watched a video on installing custom campaigns yet im still having trouble. I downloaded the cinematic and it shows up as a .rar file, i attempted to place it into my warcraft three movies folder and have the campaign for the custom in the campaigns file yet still no luck. any help? am i missing something. I have warcraft three downloaded on my external hard drive, i hope that doesnt have anything to do with it.

.rar is a compression format. You need to unpack it with something like WinRAR first to get the uncompressed file out of it, which you then place in the proper folder.

ok, i uncompressed it and moved it to movies folder with still no luck. do i need to install the resources that are in use too? sorry about the bother, this is the first time ive tried installing something custom.

Is this the first time downloading a custom campaign, or first time dealing with a "movie cinematic". If the former, then it is possible you are putting the custom campaign (NOT the movie) in the wrong warcraft 3 folder. You should have multiple warcraft 3 folders, to test which is correct, enter game, take a screenshot, then check your screenshot folder in war3. If the screenshot is not in the folder, then you are looking at the wrong folder. Check through the C drive. You mentioned external drive, but the thing is war3 will create its own folder on the main drive of the computer, you need to go check for it there.

That's too bad, but even if you told me which icons caused it, I don't know how could I fix this since I don't own a mac. :\

A follow-up question, since 3.0 is the latest version, or if not, the most frequently played one, would there be any way to access the older versions?

The versions that still has the missions
"Master's Life"
"Opposition" or such, I think those versions are really interesting despite the slightly modified storyline

I think I might add links to old versions of both campaigns once I update them both.

Well, tomoraider, since we are in 2018, when will you update Curse of the Forsaken to the latest version?
I really wanna try the new stuff you made for this campaign.

I'm sure you're likely aware of this by the time you see this, but the Sin'dorei UI (obviously) doesn't have widescreen support. The good news is that this doesn't crash the game or anything, but the game does fill in the otherwise blank space in the command console at the sides with the default human UI. Unfortunately, the creator hasn't logged into the site in over two years, so I'm not sure what you'll be able to do about this, but I figured I should put it out there.

So made an account just for this. Started playing the campaign on both computers the screen just goes black when trying to enter chapter 3. Is there anyway to fix this? Currently I'm dling the Russian version to see if that'll work. Russian version doesn't work either is there another version I can DL? its disappointing not being able to play more of the campaign/

You need to update your game, the campaign doesn't work properly on many older patches.
