I couldn't get on my gaming rig to develop Wc3:WoW this weekend, but I'm hoping to do so this coming weekend... hopefully I don't get swamped with school-work and the like.

Although there has been no terrain progress, Yixx has been working on several systems for Wc3:WoW, including floating names and a mob respawning system.

[EDIT]:
General_Anon has generously offered his assistance with the Wc3:WoW website again (specifically the Gallery page) to design an image viewer for the Gallery page. It might take a few days or a couple weeks to get done, since General_Anon is busy as the rest of us are.

Another site-related change is that oh_snap created an image for Mod DB, Blizzard Entertainment, and Hive Workshop, which I placed on each page and will redirect the browser to the appropriate site when clicked on. I put Hive Workshop's link on the homepage to support Hive better.

Three new screenshots released of Mulgore this evening. One of which is from the World Editor that shows the exit/entrance of Red Cloud Mesa. The other two are in-game screenshots around Camp Narache and I applied HDR and Bloom as well, to show how much better the game can look sometimes.

Also made a huge news post. I note a lot of cool stuff in it, so I urge you guys to read it!

I finally replaced the old screenshots thread. The previous thread has been deleted since it was a huge thread and had a lot of old screenshots of terrain that has been replaced now. The new Screenshots thread contains newer terrain screenshots (of terrain we're actually having in the 2.0 version) can be found in the first post of the thread. Some screenshots have not been uploaded to the thread because they are out-dated or are going to be reterrained. Some WIP terrains are shown anyway though.

Hope you like it!

This thread's poll is being taken into consideration. The lower priority objectives are listed on the lower portion of the list.

Priorities
  1. Terrain: Landscapes, Cityscapes, making all surroundings as similar to WoW as possible.

  2. Cool WoW-Like Features: Auction House, Inventory system, Battlegrounds, Talent Tree system, Party/Raid System, Mailing system, Casting Timer, etc.

  3. PvE: Quests, Mobs, Instances/Dungeons, etc.

  4. Characters visuality: Visible equipped weapons and armor, physical features such as beards or hair-style, etc.

  5. Fix it: Fix as many bugs as humanly possible before proceeding to progress on another part of the project.

  6. PvP: Make Player VS Player/Bot more entertaining, balanced, and skill-based.

  7. Beta Teams: Make the Closed Beta team a bit larger. Focus on their suggestions and consider their ideas and recommendations. Add the majority of their good ideas, etc.

  8. The Website: Make the website have a more Warcrafty style, add more information about Wc3:WoW's progress, etc.

  9. Advertisement: Focus strongly on advertising Wc3:WoW on YouTube vidoes, Battle Net, etc. and release more screenshots and teaser/trailors about Wc3:WoW.

  10. Ventrilo/Chatrooming: Get a ventrilo server for fans to get a chance to gather and talk to the Wc3:WoW Team, vocally or through text. (Should we even bother?)

As leader of this mod, it is my responsibility to keep the team and their instructions to what they need to be doing and how as organized as possible. Today, I've done a lot of organizing and revising in the private section of the Wc3:WoW forums which only Wc3:WoW developers and Hive staff have access to. I've prioritized tasks wisely and cleared up a lot of useless content in some of the threads. Although I am certainly not done with organizing the forum and team, it is safe to say that we're on the right road now.

I've also fixed the Public Resources Needed List thread; broken links have been renewed! I also added new public tasks to that thread. Those of you who have artistic ability (modeling or skinning) can definitely find a task you can take there!

This weekend I'll be working on the terrain some more and hopefully will have more to show off. Stay tuned.

Our newly set development goal is to ensure that Wc3:WoW functions well enough by the end of December to allow the Wc3:WoW developers to begin 'Alpha Testing' the mod. When the mod has reached an agreeably stable and playable state, it will enter a BETA phase which will be exclusively allowed to a select few users to playtest Wc3:WoW for major glitches and whatnot. Over time, we'll grant access to more and more BETA Testers exclusively and eventually, when the mod has reached its first major development milestone, we'll enter the Public Beta Testing phase where anyone can download and play it.

When the download is available for everyone (public BETA) it will be available in the Hive Workshop's "Maps" database, on Mod DB, and at our official website.

To help quicken the pace of development, we're going to try to get an adjustable third person camera system and arrow key movement system done as early as we can so that we can begin alpha testing even earlier, or at least so I can test pathing in each map and also provide more and more in-game screenshots.

Today my focus is on Orgrimmar. If I make some noticeable changes, I will show them off, as usual.

I know, but respectfully I'd rather pay for the game monthly to play on real World of Warcraft servers to play the characters I already have made and play with my friends. I'm expecting to get a game card around Christmas time, so we'll see.

LOOKING FOR SPELL GUYS: If you're a good vJASS coder and specialize in coding spells and spell systems, we're gonna need your kind. Spells aren't needed yet and we won't be working on them yet until we complete some more important systems and features in the game that will get the mod playable as soon as possible. Spells will be based accurately off of the information provided on WoW class spells at sites like WoWHead.com.

Anyway, if you're a good vJASS coder who likes making spells that way and are interested in joining the team and dedicating yourself towards the mod, please contact me! Thanks.

GUI TRIGGERS ARE 100% UNACCEPTABLE, NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE!

Cracka what's up glad to see that progress is still moving.

Can we maybe get a quick sneak peak on the work you're currently doing?

If not can we get some progress on how much of Org is done?

Yabooer: A lot is new. Not just with Wc3:WoW, but as far as Wc3:WoW news goes, we've mainly been making progress with making this work for WarCraft III version 1.24. It has been a much more tedious job than first expected but by now we're almost done. Should take a couple more weeks at max before we can finally get back to terraining, coding, and eventually play-testing!

Raj91: *sigh* Yeah, sure. I uploaded it right here! Enjoy and do not redistribute the file.

God, I've just got to love humor, even if it is over used. Glad to see everything is running smoothly can't wait (Maybe we can get a donation icon for you, or other things you guys would like I know this is all free and what not but you guys definitely deserve it).

Anyways congratulations you finally got a team to stick with you and work hard after the 3-4 years I've been watching this lol.

hey craka, i cant seem to get the HDR bloom effect working.

i have a shitty comeputer though so that might be why.

but it gives me the error message " can not find Dw3w9 "(BTW i had direct X 8.0) something like that, and everything was installed correctly. i figured dw3w9 was Direct X 9.0, so i went and downloaded it and now nothing shows up and HDR doesnt work =/

any suggestions ?

If Yixx is not finished with wc3:WoW being compatible with patch 1.2.4, I shall bite his head off.

Side note: An nasty virus/malware hit my user account. Had to create a new one. D:

thedeathhunterxx: No one ever mentioned an error like that before. Maybe your video card really does suck. But I doubt that's the case if DirectX 8 works fine for you. It may be the operating system you're using (Mac?) or maybe you don't have all of your drivers installed properly. Not sure. I'm not a wiz with this kind of stuff. Like I said in my Mod DB announcement, "use at your own risk!"

Raj91: A public release? It is extremely unlikely, since there's a ton still left to do. However, private BETAs are starting up a little after we get 1.24 working with Wc3:WoW and implement some basic systems. The testing won't be much fun, but we'd like to know of any glitches, errors, or leaks that may occur. Plus it lets people explore the new terrains for the first time. They probably won't be done and you'll notice a lot of inaccurate terrains or even messy ones, but I assure the testers that they will be fixed up.

DarkMessiah: I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking if Wc3:WoW is a map that is supposed to replicate World of Warcraft, then you're only half correct. Wc3:WoW is a campaign, not a map. Which means it is SINGLE PLAYER and has multiple maps within it. I'd explain, but why do that when you can just read the forums... by the way, Dark Messiah is an awesome game!

Still no big news just yet to report. Today I reworked the Summary of Wc3:WoW at our Mod DB profile to be much more brief and cited to useful references for more in-depth information and answers to possible questions that may arise in users' minds about Wc3:WoW.

You can read the Summary at the top of the profile here.

To check who deserves credit for working on Wc3:WoW and who is still part of the team and have left. Go here!

What is Warcraft III : World of Warcraft (Wc3:WoW)?
=====================================================
Warcraft III : World of Warcraft (Wc3:WoW) is a new type of campaign project which will use the Warcraft III engine to make an artificial World of Warcraft, originally created by Blizzard Entertainment. You'll choose your own race and class. You will venture the lands of Azeroth which contains well terrained landscapes that aim to look very similar to the landscape in World of Warcraft. Wc3:WoW uses a special 3rd Person 3D camera which is almost exactly like the cameras in World of Warcraft. Moving from map to map to get further in the lands of Azeroth, Searching and doing as many quests you can find, some will be quests from World of Warcraft, others will be made up and totally new quests. We also implemented the "Wandering NPCs" System which allow you to see the NPCs wandering around the world and act as real people playing with you and you can even add them to your party to join you in your epic questing or help you grind for experience And their A.I. is amazing and like something never before seen in Warcraft III history. Wc3:WoW is already known world-wide and we hope that by the time it is released that our reputation and number of fans grows much larger!

1.24c is No Longer An Obstacle!

Time for a little victory dance, because Yixx has finally fixed the mod to work with the WarCraft III patch version 1.24. It has been months since 1.24 was released by Blizzard Entertainment and it caused Wc3:WoW to crash. Plus, the way our triggers were setup were really unorganized and trashy. We had a mixture of GUI triggers and JASS triggers and in some cases this can cause errors within the error and probably in-game too. So, from now on, we're not using GUI triggers ever again.

In a way, 1.24 was both a crisis and godsend for us. A crisis because it set us even further behind development and losing pretty much all triggers, but a godsend because it forced us with an initiative to clean up, organize, and recode everything in Wc3:WoW in a more seamless and functional way. We've got a lot of big ideas for Wc3:WoW now and the bright side is that we didn't lose the terrain or imported files. Thank god! Although, the reality of the matter is to thank Yixx. Without him, this mod probably would have died permanently a bit after 1.24 came along. He definitely helped pull the project up again and is still doing an amazing job.

Anyway, what now? Terrain progress! Tonight I'll be downloading the fixed version of the campaign and will continue working on Orgrimmar and pushing for the finish. I found an old CD with WoW screenshots and all the Orgrimmar screenshots I'll probably need. Go me! Problem is that it has a virus. So I might be working on scanning my PC and all that when I put it all on my PC tonight, so don't expect any visuals for about a week or so... probably less. Will try to stay on top of development progress as much as possible!

PS: Thanks a ton for the votes and watches! I'm really surprised we're getting votes despite the fact 2.0 isn't even playable yet. Your generosity and support is very appreciated and motivating for us!

[EDIT]
Now that we're able to get to work, Yixx is working on the Character Creation system and I will be working on Orgrimmar's terrain.

Yixx is the man! Great job to everyone actually. Glad that everything is working out pretty nicely now. Good luck on all the terraining and triggering we know you'll produce a great release!

Yay! :D *does the moonwalk*. Does this mean I also gotta start gathering pictures of Orgrimmar/Durotar/Thunder Bluff/Mulgore?

Possibly not. I'm probably going to buy a World of Warcraft game card (miss playing my Dwarf Paladin and of course on the awesome Horde) soon and I also have a CD full of Durotar and Orgrimmar screenshots. If I need any more stuff, I'll ask. Though if you want, I can always use screenshots of The Drag, Cleft of Shadows, Valley of Honor, and Valley of Wisdom.
