@takakenji: Thanks!! I put a lot of work into Outland. Have you checked out Nagrand? :)
@Aztec: Okay, I will do! But it probably wont be until the races are done being worked on

@Hailfireer: Thanks for subbing! And yes, I'll let you know when :)
@Aztec: Yes, I know I know :) I am actually thinking of handing u the map to work on the terrain in a week or so. I have almost all of the basic terrain aspects done, so you can touch it up, tweak things, spice it up, etc =)

Right now, I am working on the Satyrs. Hopefully in the next day or so, Northrend, Northern Kalimdor, and Northern EK will be fully ready for testing! (Northrend & Northern EK are ready for testing)

Heres some eye candy!! Satyrs and Burning Legion!

Hey guys, so the terrain is being revamped greatly!! The map boundaries were increased by 200%, which is going to allow for several things:
Larger units, more landscape, greater aesthetic detail, larger buildings, etc etc. So, this should turn out quite nicely.
The terrainer is Aztec_devil2000, so be sure to give him a shout out =)

Cool! Keep it up guys! :ah:

Oh no no, I will still need you. I am laying the foundation (the groundwork). You will basically refine it later so that it looks much more appealing to the player. Whenever a player moves around the map, I want the player to experience a 'wow' factor. I wanted them to be wow-ed by the gameplay, terrain, versatility, etc etc. And you'll be the one responsible for the 'wow' factor of the terrain :)

No no, don't upload pictures of your StarGate map here. This is strictly for SoA.

And I have a question for you all. I am thinking of implementing ''Lighthouses'' into Soa. Basically, they would be buildings that grant great vision in the day time, nearly as good night vision, and they must be built next to water (such as the shipyards). What do you guys think of this idea?

Nice, but limit them or something so people don't go making 10 of them at only 1 coast :P

Aww, very very true, good point. I'll make a limit of 6 then (and through testing, we will decide if more or less are needed)

Also, would you guys like to see pics of the new terrain??

Skygreen, the terrain is the most important thing.
For example, terrain was all ice and there are trees that are plain green? wtf?
If terrain is 100% realistic that is where people will hang on to the map.

Although 101 rounds has really plain terrain but super fun =D Though it is pritty small...

Edit: Look at diablo 3 maps for wc3, people only play it because of the graphics. I wouldn't play it. But i play it because of the terrain....

Lighthouse idea sounds nice in theory, but why would someone make a lighthouse when they could just make a dock and ship instead, like the light house it can warn of incoming sea invasion.

However you can also put it on patrol to cover far more range than a lighthouse, and it can attack incoming transports so it's even better.

If I may, what if you place light houses on specific shores(not all, but some) in strategic locations. These light houses would have a medium sized farsight spell with decent cooldown. It would give people more of an incentive to control land(cuz currently I can just turtle my city and spam markets).

O ya, and ofc they would be capturable.

@Apsycobear: That is actually very true. Thats a good idea, I will make it capturable. And I'll place one at each significant coastline.
@ImperialShadow: The terrain will mimic WoW. And yes, you will see it as soon as possible
@Takakenji: Haha

Ima start taking pics now. I am going to compare the cities with what they used to look like

EDIT:
Here are the pictures!!

The 'new' version of Ironforge is still under construction, but that is basically what it looks like

Good to see a nice improvement any changes to terrain that arent main bases or is it still work in progress still very nice

@Sky Green: thanks dude :)
@Defias Kingpin: It is still a work in progress, so only those 3 main bases have been improved. I am going to work on all the main bases first (because they are placed on the edges) and then I will work on the terrain that does not include main bases.

@Sky Green: hopefully by the end of this month. I am working as much on this project as I possibly can to have it ready before school. Once school starts, it is a small possibility that i will be able to work on this very much
@Aztec: You would patch it up by just making it look better! Any good aesthetic additions basically.

Also, I am working on the Infinite Dragonflight race (along with the terrain) right now. But I am running out of ideas for the units. I have Infinite Dragons, Drakes, and Hatchlings, Infinite Warriors (4 legged) and Infinite Drakonids. Any other ideas? (abviously a spellcaster, but i need some diversity in the army)

EDIT:
Here is a picture of the new Northrend!! It is obviously still in process, but this is the basic design of the base terrain. You can also see, by comparing it the minimap, how much addition space was provided to this Northrend as compared with the previous, haha

I also thought this would be interesting. This showcases the size differences between different units and heroes, yet, the terrain is able to accomadate all sizes appropriately. From left to right: Dwarf Soldier, Footman, Lich King, Deathwing, and Sargeras.

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, I added them because the area between the gate and Icecrown Citadel is technically covered in a mountain, so i tried to convey that in that way
Do you guys have a suggestion to make it look better?

I am re-terraining the entire map. Reason being is because I found with NewGen, I could increase the map size by over 200%. Thus, I could make units their regular size =)
(before they were 50% of normal size)
