Solmaster, you need to remember what we're talking about here. I remember that the Vikings ransacked and tried to take parts of England. i would prefer it if we didn't go into a huge history lesson on the vikings and instead focused on the races and what people do to them to make them better or worse. And honestly, you did ruin the Northrdir. An honorable race backstabbing for a planet with almost no defences? A truly honorable race would've fought to their dieing breath.

Or, like the Chozo's version of honor, not take advantage of those defending you, but help them out. The Chozo keep their deals as best they can, but if backstabbed, the deal is off. In this case, the Admiral sees no reason to aid the North'throdir, as his ship was attacked as their first contact. Giving a shelter without the Admiral's knowing, the North'throdir then trhew the CHozo aside to take control of said planet. So, you can see why the Admiral has no trust in the North'throdir. He likely thinks that if he sent aid, he'd be arming and helping to rebuild an empire that would attack his race. So, he has good reasons. :p But yes, Sol, you took my race out of context from what I designed. It makes my hard planning of the race pointless when that happens. So, ultimately, the only thing needed to make a race for you is the basics of their tech, and their looks. The rest, however, apppears to be meaningless. :/

ammo (needler), energy source, prism magnification of energy, as well as dispersion. Interesting, I have to say. Definetely going to provide an interesting strategy to counter, for me. :p Then again... crystals DO shatter under impact from heavier objects... But they make great reinforcements in hulls. Nano-steel itself has crystals forming some of the bonds, making it stronger, those all those crystals are synthetic, and thus able to be purer. So, you have weapons, defense, and a good shield from a majority of energy weapons. Now, beams would still be able to melt through, of course, like they do with Nano-steel, but you ahve a good hull down, even if the tech is crude. I like it. :3

Well, after two days or so I have finished skimming the 84 pages of this thread and am ready to join. You guys are pretty far in, though; I hope you don't mind if I barge in now. Just to be sure, no one has taken the 100% robotic race yet? I havn't seen one, if one is even allowed or not.

absolutely allowed! :D We haven't put any limits on the designs of races, yet, other than the obvious "no time, no alternate dimension, no godmodding, and mass production of multiple superweapons. (SolMaster) No massive fleets of seemingly endless fleets of troops, as that would mean MASSIVE amounts of resources, and several millenia of reproduction. (though, your race would be manufactured, so... you'd be easier in getting away with that XD) I personally like to find ways of taking technology ideas and applying them in different ways in my head to see how they can be used. Goes for battles too. As you've probably seen, there are plasma based weaponry, crystals too, as well as various other weapon types. The different races all have different technology, different developement of said technological levels, and, what's great about it is that there is variety in the different forms of trans-system travel. :3 That makes strategy more important. With all these different variables, it's more realistic and interesting. But, one usually only has to deal with 1 race at a time, not multiple. :p So, it's not this "Memorize everything! Quick!" :D And, another benifit in this RP is, unlike past RPs, not everyone is buddy buddy, and translators may take a while to finish translations of a language. :p Oh yes! MUCH more realistic than starwars or star trek! XD

Edit: (saw DarkKnight's post) looking forward to it. I actually developed a game concept where the enemy was an alien machine race. :p They end up viewing all organics and non-life, as they see machines as slaves of organics if they notice them as life. Other than that, they don't see their invasions as invasions, just colonizing and claiming unclaimed planets and systems. :p unclaimed resources. XD So, just a bit of interest in the fact that you are planning a machine race. :p So, for a machine race to not see organics as life, they would obviously have a religion that does not include their makers. Just a giant machine diety creating them. XD But, that's just the one I made. :p

BTW, Just on a side-note, I've lately played a game, where an aquatic race had a rather interresting way of faster-than-light travel, it was called 'stutter warp' What happened basically, was that they teleported themselves a bit forward everytime with the most efficient distance to repeation ratio, this way they didn't have to care about accelleration and decelleration, and this way they could even, if the technology was far enough advanced, go through enemy ships, or even let enemy missles go through them, the game was called "Sword of the Stars"

Well, I'd kinda like to keep teleportation out of the RP. :/ It's like Star Trek then :/ Just bypass all their defenses by teleporting bombs and such into their engine rooms and generator rooms, maybe even the bridge. So, I'm not touching it. I'm sticking with ramming transports into bridges, and force docking them. :3 Besides, with teleporter technology, you can't just board ships, but teleport bombs and intruders into space or back onto their ships. :/ And the concept of breaking their shield to do it may be good and all, but whose to say they don't have backup generators? :p They may have crippled your ship by the time you finally teleport people in. :p Then, there's also targeting. Don't want them popping into an enemy soldier, or into the elevator's ceiling. :/

Well, I don't exactly mind the short range, as that puts you in danger :)D) but things like teleporting people onto a planet, past entire fleets and armies is more what I was thinking about. Besides, what fun is a battle, if you ruin the challenge by teleporting bombs into the reactor room? or the warp core (or whatever form of engine used for whatever form of transystem transportation) That ruins the fun of boarding and outsmarting your enemy. :p Example: Just to hack into Holis computers, I decided not to board and fight my way through, byut to ram into their bridge, clamp down, and cut my way through, and then hack. My marines' rides were right outside. :p So, when they unclamp, anythign still in the bridge would be ripped out into space, since the transport would have removed most of the chance of air leaking out between them and the hole. :p So, you see, physical boarding is oh so mch more fun than teleporting, as you then ned to get your bearing while being shot dead. :p

Alright, here we go...
NAME: This will come with development. For now they will be refered to by me as "Necrons"
DESCRIPTION: The Necrons are a robotic race, and therefore have diffrent appearances based on thier roles in "society." They are generally silver in color (unless something happens to them, such as burning)

HISTORY: There was a being known as The Machine, who came to the Milky Way galaxy from an unknown place and unknown time. Finding a small world rich in resources, it began to craft the first Necrons from the natural resources there. That place became known as Necron, and despite it running out of resources long ago it is still inhabited by Necron facilities as a testament to this holy place. The Machine created four general castes of Necrons, each with a diffrent task. The Deciples were the first, built for labor. The Angels, the second caste, were responsible for watching over the Deciples as well as furthering Necron technologies. Prophets, the third group, were created to explore the stars and communicate with other sentient races. The Devils were the fourth group, designed to safeguard the Necrons from outside threats in the case of war. Moving out to other planets, the Necrons began the search for life, both sentient and indigeonous. All Necrons have a reverance for life, and even the Devils shed blood when it is nesicary(?) only. They will always opt for diplomacy instead of warfare, but have no qualms about defending themselves and others fron destructive races.

LEADER: The Machine

MILITARY: The Necron military is composed of the Devil caste. This caste is divided into two sub-castes, those that are built for land warfare and those for space. Devils stay away from energy-based weapons, sporting projectiles such as magnetic-accelerated slugs and missile systems. Because of thier vulnerability to electromagnetic weapons such as EMPs, they are desperatly trying to come up with devices to block, reflect or absorb EMP waves. They have installed prototypes in the most important vessels, but they are unreliable and incredibly expensive. They therefore opt for long-ranged combat, as far away as possible, in the hopes of destroying any EMP weapons before they can be brought to bear on Necron fleets.

TECHNOLOGY: While Necrons are fairly advanced, they stay away from energy weapons and technologies such as plasma and lasers, because the metals most Necrons are constructed of are not very resistant to those kinds of energies, and are therefore vulnerable to them. The Angel caste is responsible for furthering Necron technologies, and does so with constant testing and exploration alongside the Prophets.

SOCIAL STANDING: Prophets are the main force responsible with communication between other sentient races. Because the Necrons have a reverance for all life, they will take the diplomatic route as often as possible, and therefore pride themselves on a generally good standing with other races. They try to keep Prophets in as many civilizations as possible to keep up to date with the status of the galaxy, and to minimize the time it takes for aid to arrive. They will not hesistate to send military or other aid to allies, and do so frequently.
They currently control around ten worlds on the rim of the galaxy, four of which are permanent colonies with factories, research facilities and other nesecary buildings. The other six are large-scale gathering operations on uninhabited planets.

Alright, there we go. I'll go over the individual castes in more detail once the race overall is aproved, including my builders for the benifit of DarkKnight. I'll be basing Necrons on existing models here on THW, so expect plenty of links to show you my visual idea of them.

what defines true beings, SolMaster? Your Holis are energy. XD Still, Crazy Cow, I like you you've planned yor race. I see possible trading partners in them. :p But, as the Chozo seem to be headed towards being hostile to the Koldir, you could end up as valuable allies to anyone. Oo So, it becomes a race to see who you end up meeting first. lol Though, sacrid did just concquer the Koldir home system. XD Still, things are going to get interesting. XD

So... what part of the galaxy are you? The Chozo are in the very bottom, having traveled from another galaxy, they claimed planets near the edge due to the need for resources and lack of civilizations. :p

Looking forward to meeting a robotic race. :3

The Necrons live on the edge of the galaxy, due to the fact that the Machine encountered Necron there. I updated the general bio with that tidbit.
The military is the most important aspect of this RP and is therefore the element I will expand on first.

SPACE (Black) DEVILS

GENERAL WEAPONS:
Note that these weapons are scaled to thier craft; a cannon on a small ship would not do nearly as much damage as on a Capitol Ship.
Gauss Cannons
Gauss cannons are the most powerful weapon available to the Necrons. They sport a long barrel with a bulky end that includes powerful electromagnets and rotation devices for aiming. Loading a metal round into the barrel, the electromagnets are then activated, propelling the round at the speed of sound out of the barrel and into whatever it's aiming at. THis high-velocity slug can gut smaller ships and punch holes in decently-armored foes.
CANNON
A cannon uses simple gunpowder technology to propel a round at a target.
MACHINE GUN
Uses simple gunpowder technology to propel many small rounds at a target.
MISSILE BATTERY
Launches missiles with limited tracking abilities.

GLIDER
3 meters wide
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/6/models_5894_screenshot.jpg
Gliders are the basic fighters of any Devil force. While they are light and manuverable, thier engines are not designed for inter-planetary travel, and they therefore rely on larger Devils for transportation. Armed with two missiles as well as a small machine gun, this craft's strategy is to attack with it's light arms until it discovers a weak spot, such as a viewport or engine, and will then use it's missiles on the soft target. It cannot, however, stand much direct damage itself and is therefore not suitable for tying up enemy fighter craft.

ENGAGER
5 meters long
These craft, like the Gliders, are a vital component of any Devil force. Unlike Gliders, they are meant to tie up enemy fighters before they reach the main fleet. They have heavier armor than a normal fighter, making them slower, and they lack the missiles of Gliders. They can still serve thier purpose, however, of defending other craft from faster ships.

GUNSHIP
20 meters long
This is the backbone of any Devil force. Armed with the signature Necron weapon, a gauss cannon, they fill in as long-ranged artillery attackers. Gunships have no other arms, however, and are clumsy in close combat.

SPRAY GUNSHIP
This Gunship, instead of using a gauss cannon, has a two-part experemental weapon. The first stage is a water nozzle that sprays water in a cone. The second part is a power battery that discharges large amounts of electricity into the nozzle, frying or disabling any ships in the water.

BOARDERS
8 meters long
These craft are redesigned Driller Deciples. Driller Deciples are vaugely insectoid; they have four legs sprouting from the main body, with a head sporting plenty of powerful sensors and an abdomen with a drill on the end. Thier flight consists of engines on the main body. Instead of carrying ore, thier cargo holds contain Drones. Getting close to a decent-sized enemy craft, it will latch on and drill into the opposing ship's hull, then release it's Drone cargo into the ship. They have no arms, however, and so hide behind Engagers and Gliders whenever possible.

CRIUSER
65 meters long
Criusers are the main force of a Devil assault. They house Boarders, Engagers and Gliders in the belly of the vessel, and sport plenty of arms: four cannons, four machine guns, two missile batteries and a gauss cannon.

DESTROYER
75 meters long
Destroyers have no cargo holds; instead, they focus on blowing up enemy ships. They have eight missile batteries, twelve machine guns and three gauss cannons.

CAPITOL SHIP
360 meters long
These ships are the most powerful weapons put together for Devil fleets, boasting cargo holds with Gunships as well as smaller fighters, and superior weapons; four gauss cannons, eight missile batteries, twelve cannons and sixteen machine guns.

GROUND (Red) DEVILS

DRONE
2 meters tall
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/9/models_8155_screenshot.jpg
Drones are basic ground attackers. They are mobile, like most other Red Devils, but thier light frame means they come apart easily. They come with diffrent weapon mountings, depending on the situation:
Gun
A simple projectile weapon using gunpowder technologies.
Missile Pod
Launches missiles with limited tracking abilities. Used for anti-air defense.
Flamethrower
Spewing methane from a canister that is then lit with a spark, flamethrowers burn many, many things, such as you.

GAUSS ENGINE
4 meters long, 3 meters tall
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/9/models_8139_screenshot.jpg
The Gauss Engine is a long-ranged seige weapon, firing the gauss canon that makes up the bulk of it's body to devistating effect. It is not very mobile, lacking legs capable of more than basic movement.

STALKER
6 meters tall
A mobile assault walker, the Stalker walks on six spindly legs and can therefore climb over many obstacles to get it's opponent. Has two machine guns and a missile pod.

SPRAY STALKER
4 meters tall
A smaller version of the Stalker, this walker is equipped with a diffrent weapon set. It has a nozzle for spraying water, and when it drenches a foe it releases an electric discharge, frying it's opponent.

COLOSSUS
55 meters tall
A giant walking platform, with four thick legs that trample anything it walks through. It is armed with four missile batteries and a gauss cannon on the top of the platform, plus six machine guns and a cannon mounted on it's belly.

interesting. So, despite their mechanical, and thus superior targeting, (they're machines they can get things solved faster. data! :D) they can still be successfully swarmed by my combat and persuit drones (fighters) and... I sense those shells are going to leave a lot of dents in my ships. :/ As well... as viewing ports and bridges. My shields won't be able to stop them! D:

Still, if they are machines, why do they use electromagnetic railguns, and weapons? It's like playing with quick-working poisons. or acids. :/

Hmmm... I dislike the long-ranged weapons (me being a melee fighter, it's a good thing though, don't change it!), for they might just destroy my ships before I can reach, the sizes of your ships on the other hand, allow my ships to take you on in melee attacks =D, also my thick side-armors will be good against your kinetic weaponry (My ships aren't all that good against energy weapons =/) my fighter craft could actualy take on all of your ships.... though the smaller ones would create problems with trying to hit them... also... a ship of 120 meters long won't be able to keep much cargo =/ many cargoships today, are already more than a kilometer long... maybe you'd want to change the size of some of your ships, and, am I right to presume that the space Devils ARE the ships, and are not just crews on the ships?

Yes, Black Devils are individual machines, although the bigger ones carry the smaller ones in cargo holds. There will be larger ships in other castes, but the Devils don't need large transports. Deciples, especially, will have much larger ships for carrying raw materials. I'm beefing up my capitol ship with more weapons and adding more Red Devils soon.
The reason Necrons don't use energy weapons is th ematerials they are constructed of have very little resistance to plasma. The only way to introduce plasma technology into the Necron societies is to replace every Necron in existance, a task that is at the moment impossible.

EDIT:
I have no idea what I was thinking when I put down the sizes for my ships. I'm not quite used to the Metric system, and so put down sizes way too small for the Necrons. All sizes have been changed to larger sizes. I have also added many new weapons to the Devil fleets, so provide critism and tell me If I have made them too powerful. I'll be working on Deciples (the work force) next.

Well, just for refference, 1 meter is about 1 decently long step, it's also 3.3 foot, a Kilometer, is 1000 meters, in case you didn't know yet =D.

Edit: Oh, by the way, I think there should be a more ordened way of doing combat, for now it is realy hard to gauge if you are being over, or underpowered, god-modding, or worm-modding (playing TOO bad) etc.

DarkKnight, Earth's largest cruise ship isn't even that long. (It barely missed the world's largest bridge as I recall. a couple feet away) and have you seen the freighters? The most I've seen is about a half mile. They half to be able to turn, and have to be able to fir into docks without blocking traffic.
Here's the cruise ship. http://www.cruisesfun.com/largestcruiseship.shtml

Like my Juggernaughts. :3 The Gas Mining Juggernaught is vast, probably the largest and most complec with its gas harvesting chambers and gates. (literal gates! :D) Next would be the BSJ Shakuras, with its heavy weapons and powerful engines, and then the thick armoured Planet Crackers at just slightly larger than my flagship. Lots of resources. :3

Gathering materials? That's really just the Planet Crackers and any corporate mining ships. Other than that, it's the same story witht he gas miners. Corporate, and the military's Gas juggernaught. They do issue out fleets to collect gas from nebulas, and frieght runs to the Solar Mining station for fuel, but those fleets are all corporate. In this sense, the military and corporations workhand-in-hand pretty well, with the exception of new nebulas with danger within them, as seen earlier with the Kraken's appearance. (1 corporation wanted to begin mining, and accused the military of hogging the gas to screw over his company)

So, most of the material collection is corporate. The government/military just buys it from them, as does Black Sun Corporation (due to the president of Black Sun Corp being the leader of his people, the Chozo were nicknamed the Black Sun Empire, by the people. He didn't want the position to begin with) It's really just one big market. :p

I have three rather large problems with the above, solmaster.

Time...terrible thing to mess with. Lets not.

As for the Laminari being fought with. As stated before, if the Laminari saw a rise in the technology of the Holis...in such an extent that they were even a rival to the Monstrosities...Laminari intelligence operatives would have quickly relayed this back to High Imperial Command, and the planet sundered back into a stone age.

The Monstrosities after all, are the size of small moons, and during that time, were under the complete and full capacity control of the Laminari empire. The cellulose beasts could have easily been altered into massive destroying cannons for example...which, rather nicely would have burned the surface, or...evaporated all the water on planet causing a desert akin to Arakkis (Dune).

At our more desperate measures....the loss of a few mere Monsters at this time in our height would have been a mere sacrifice of gnats, as they came crashing down, barreling form first into the crust, buckling it under the weight of an iron-hard moon, cracking the surface as molten rock bled from the mantle like a scourged back, scarlet and inflamed, before your tower devices would have been built.

"O' to alas, for our might was abandoned. The royal fist of our clenched gauntlet, how they blot the light of so many suns, and cast the sky into darkness, standing as the testament of our unchecked intergalactic eclipse. To rain down our might, and secure our perfect order. To silence the foe amidst the screams of his agonous defeat. The Hammer! The Hammer! The Hammer! Of the Laminari!"

-High Admiral Falasuin: Ancient records - article 3 section 5; treatise on Laminari orbiting citadels.

I have a few questions though...

The disabling of Laminari weapons....How would this be done?

Siding with Elenai on this one. Even I had a hard time cracking the Krakens with an entire, well armed fleet on three attempts. I'd like to think that I did well in my attacks, but still, I haven't had much ease in finding a way to crack the monstrosity. If I ever get back to that chapter, we will see if I can find a way, after enough losses. Biometals are trick, and can easily be manipulated in the case of Krakens, and normally, I'd think my fleet could take out the bio-organic ship or station, but something the size of a moon is difficult. Especially now that it moves, and can send minions at me faster. It's is a hive with engines now. So, seeing as how I chewed through Holis ships, I have a hard time believing they took out Krakens that weren't insane, and were fully staffed by Lamanari.

And not to mention fully operational, The Kraken as of current is a dis-repaired and "damaged" sort of ship, at least in terms of his more subtle faculties.

On that note do you think it would of been possible for the race I created to of copied some of the specifications of the Kraken considering it was in my area of space after my madness. Even though I probably nearly ran my race extinct trying to gather the information.

I would think it was possible. The blueprints would be rather ancient, and perhaps alot of things missing, like some of the more advanced designs, and faculties.

You could indeed, theoretically create your own Monstrosity, though perhaps a much smaller, and less potent form.

Your main problem would occur not with the blueprints per'se, but with the actual production of the three main, and crucial components.

The Core: The main part, and heart of the Monster. Where all the real force of the beast is contained, including a massive mainframe.

The Chastise: The bones of the beast, and the body if you will.

The production of cellulose-iron, and the parts necessary for the above on the scale level to create a Kraken would require one of the very ancient Laminari star-forges. Which...alas, are either lost, destroyed, ruined beyond use, or the functioning ones are guarded deep in old Laminari space, which is fraught with nebulae, and guardians (including, but not limited to: other Monstrosities).

The AI him/herself...

The production of an AI is not entirely difficult. the AI are actually Laminari individuals who have been sealed into an AI throne, that resides in the core.

The problem comes, in the connecting and interfacing between the AI, the throne, and the core-chastise. This is rather difficult, because it requires a delicate procedure (both medical, and technological), where the body, and soul (mind) of the Laminari is infused into the ship. In much the same way as any such surgery, mistakes...are possible...

And it is dangerous to be careless, due to possible insanity, or even the death of the individual.

But if you can get an operational star-forge, the essential blueprints, and a successful AI integration...it is possible to build at the very least a flattery of the Monster. But even the flattery will tip the scale of most battles in your favour.

Well back then we weren't weaken with rage and warfare. They had more of the weapons that were able to destroy monstrosities, like the weapons on the gromar. They would take out one with ease. The fredolis are dead so their not a playable race. Yes, the Gromar is still a ship but now the size of a moon. It's way more dangerous then before.

The gromar is the planet sized ship that exploded and was rebuilt into a moon size ship. the weapons on it was old weapons from the war with you. Besides you killed of the fredolis and their tech went to us. Now I'm planing to convert the gromar into a unity. Unities were the counter units to the Monstrosities. They were able to hold off any attack from a Laminari attack.

I think that making a Monstrosity with what Lamanari parts you can get, and recreating the science and technology, you would still need to ease, and nurse it into full operating capacity, learning the systems, and not brutally maiming everyone onboard, including itself XD

But, I too, am curious as to what the Gromar is, and what it could possibly have that could pwn the Kraken. Cause nothing I can think of have the potential of destroying it quickly, much less disabling it. And, my method would most likely be to have a massive beam burn through. But, that would require a massive amount of energy, and that would be far too difficult to get it set up, the weapon aligned with a moving target, and not be noticed before preperations were complete. So, giant superweapons out of the way, what could possibly murder a Kraken?

... I still need to make a virus for it... Test its... lethality on samples... XD

Edit: You just posted as I was typing mine, SolMaster :p
A... Unity? So... you want to overwhelm a moon with lasers, and watch as the debris from the Kraken comes slipping through to devour and regrow itself upon your superweapon. Well then, I guess I should grab some popcorn. XD If I could see through the nebula, I'd be able to enjoy the show better as I watch seperated chunks latch on and assimilate the hull into it, as a food source, or simply crush it. Actually, watching peices bypass massive amounts of energy weapons, and begin crushing you like a sub in the deep oceans would be more entertaining. It'd be like crushing a can. >:3 *grabbing coke and popcorn for this one XD*

But that is where the krakens dies. It will consume and then the unity takes over and the unity is completed. The more it united the more powerful it becomes. >:)

Though a planet, it was hollowed out then the inside became the ship with the core as power source. The whole thing took 10 years to complete.

Why didn't your planet get sucked into the hole?

The molten material being (as I would assume) flung out like liquid spit from a mouth would have cooled and hardened in the void of space. Inevitably...your planet would have a massive growth stuck out of its side, causing a rather...unpleasant...orbital decay, and alas...it too would have been 'waste managed'.

It also seems highly irresponsible to throw away all that pre-molten metal...and the diamonds, and precious metals, and ore that would be present in the mix...

The black hole was not there at the time and rock were around the planet. The molten rocks were used at more outer layer. Then after ten years they left the place and the ships was complete to destroy the holis.
