Actually, testing and approving the models IS quite hard; You must examine the scale of the model, the wrap, animations, attachments, particles etc etc. Same with skins, you can't just stick an artisticly done face to the legs, you also must examine the wrap, it's not as easy as it seems.
indeed, its not as hard as spells or maps, but it gets annoying as they are more "encouraged" to get approved.
1.Look at model, make sure:
*it has a acceptable amount of polies
*the presentation is good (if its horrible, i can add new screenshot, i rarely manually fix models as i already have enough open/tabbed on my task bar.
*check if it has the right animations
and an important thing to me is that is isnt theft, contains content of another user and such
*also have to make sure there is enough changes and weigh in
*have to also check its name, if it doesnt have its mdl heading name right then a mod pm is sent first (i do that THEN test it)
2. Download the model and check it in the viewer if it runs okay and look at it's textures, I have to make sure:
*its clean and animations are okay
*a closer look if there is theft
*yadda yadda
3. import it ingame and find the paths on the webpage (which is annoying as i test around 4-15 models at ones)
I have to make sure it has:
*A working death/decay
*has a camera/portrait
*animations that need loop are looped etc
*check if it has vertex/geoset issues (like, part of the model going ballistic attaching everywhere)
*If certain geosets work correcting or show up
*if team colour is apparent and works fine
*and the rest is just quality
And its not a big of a job as it seems I have typed, its just ANNOYING more than it is a big job considering you have to note down the points and if you find the reasons why and fixes and suggestions, you must note them.
Im known to be rather lazy with my mod comments, i dont use cnped mod base comments like wolve or such, i just type it straight but that also causes it to seem half assed but i try my best.
I dont moderate sfx or attachments (i rarely do now) as I cant get them attached ingame properly for a reason on my fualt i cant figure out.
General Frank is cleaner than me as he lists the geoset issues clear as that is his area and he even fixes peoples geosets model problems.
anyway, to cover it up, model moderating is annoying, which is natural and I do it. Maps and spells are by FAR the hardest and longest and most ANNOYING thing to moderate by far, and i pity any fool who is sent to do them (no offense), i mean earth-fury did like 8 pages within a week, thats like over 400 maps or some crazy shit....really..and since i was with him, he seemed a zombie.
My vote is we need more spell mods, we need more map mods, BUT we need to have some sort of schedule or stuff or find out more about certain areas on what parts each person moderates in the same section or such.
I suck at typing.
