So yeah, me fladdermasken and shiiK have already signed on to this train,
we want to issue a hive get-together for Scandinavian members, and
possibly more, if they want to spend the money to get to the place.

It's all going to happen on a Weekend, naturally,
and hopefully some time before summer next year.
Both time and place
is flexible and discussable, though it appears that for us already signed
"attendees" Oslo would be the ideal choice.

This is a discussion thread about that subject in general, who wants to
come, when it's going to happen and where.

Lets discuss!

Additional information:

It's mostly (entirely) for drinking and socialising purposes, so naturally
you'd have to be at least 18 years or older to attend, in addition to attend
you've got to post a picture of yourself, somewhat of a safety measure.

- Keiji -

I approve of this call-out, and here's the picture everyone has already seen of me:

Too lazy to take another, fancier (does it get fancier than early morning after nach anyway?) photo. I'm not really that fancy of a person, anyway.

I smell this is a plan to bolster your economy by having us pay for everything there is to pay there in Oslo. :ogre_icwydt:

Jokes aside, is this really the FIRST in about 10 years of THW existance? o_O

Our research points towards yes. Unless you count two Hivers meeting up as a get-together, or real life friends also being Hivers.

You haven't met us.

You made me sad that I'm not Scandinavian or 18

Reality is a bitch, but as stated if you have the means of getting to where we are going, by all means jump on.

Also, honestly, to put this a delicate as possible: We're not really that interested in knowing who "can't" come.
And for those who want to have some kind of get-together but find drinking, Scandinavia a problem, by all means
arrange something of your own with users closer to where you live.

What, do we have to lean on the horn to get your attention? Don't be so self-depreciative, we'll be too damn out of it to loathe anything either way.
Just strap on a decent enough hat, book either a flight, train, gondola, or bloody war chariot, and engage a hotel room for one night.

I thought this place was infested with scandinavians anyways. However;

This disclaimer still applies.

I guess there is some trace of truth in foreign claims that Scandinavians are cold and unwelcoming after all. For all you who fear the cold, though, .. I was going to say it's not cold, or that we could find a time when it's not cold, but then I realized it's much easier to just ask everyone to dress for the occasion. Nothing like a cold, winter's night, anyway.

Well, physically I'm 17, but in reality I'm 5 years older than shiiK, and Oslo is like only 2 hours away, AND I've lived there for 4 years.

I might come. I will try to find a picture when I get home (currently having german class ._.)

Edit: Btw, if it's next year then I'll be physically 18, but in reality I'll be 28 (shiiK is 23, and I'm 5 years older).

Edit: This is me quite possibly attending:

With me the movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" will have to be either renamed or refilmed afterwards. Or at least with fladdermasken, Keiji, shiiK and me. Also TRD could be a factor.

well i assume when you reference summer you mean my winter

i am considering visiting england after december, so if that occurs i will also arrange a short trip to where ever the hell it is we're having this thing, stick around a few days and then f*ck off back to England, i don't really know...

but yes, after december would probably work best for me, just not too late on account of uni and shit

Kinda depends on what kind of places you'll be going.

If you're going to places that demand that I'm 18 or older then any time later than 22nd of May works for me. If you go to bars/clubs/whatever that allow younger people then any date works (assuming it's not in the middle of exams).

shiiK says not all bars demand I'm 18 or older (and I'm not going to drink either way), and it's totally possible to get beer at a restaurant for that matter.

Are any of the Hive admins actually supporting this? If not, then any incidences that occur on this are not the responsibility of the Hive Workshop. It should also be marked as unoffical if that is the case.

Distance 660 km
Flight time 1 h 10 min
Price approx. 250 €

If I could find a bit cheaper flight then why not.
Check if there are any train services. You might be able to pickup a good rate for long distance train journies. Yes they might take 10-12 hours instead of just 1 but you might be able to get a ticket much more reasonably. Also you need to factor in about 2-4 hours of terminal transit times and waiting for the flight which would make a 12 hour odd train journy seem a lot more reasonable. Train journies might also not hammer you with hidden fees that cheap flight services do.

660km, that's not far at all. I doubt it'd take more than 6-7 hours by train. Unless you have to wait for a long time for switching trains.

I'm not going to take a train :)

It already takes 4 h to the "F" in Finland by train.

The airport here is only 10 minutes away.

Ahah, I see why now. I was thinking 660km by road. Taking a train from there to Oslo would take nearly a full day. Still, 250€ is stiff.

Let's have a get together in Lebanon.
Me, Joe-Black-5, ashbringer753, Deuterium, LichPrince, and Rmx.
We can meet at 'Mezere3 Shib3a'
If you act like Americanfags, Israel won't bomb you, so.. yeah :p

There might just be a reason as to why it is in the off-topic section in the first place. Also, of course it is "un-official" in any official way. Though, seems M0rbid, TRD and shiiK is attending, and they're moderators. Still, I dont see in any way how this could blacken the hive, it's not like we're going to make large banners and walk around town dressed as clowns. Its merely a get-together to have a good time and some drinks.

Would be lovely if you could make it :)

and some drinks.
Strangers and drinks often do not mix very well. Parties like this have been known to spiral out of control. Additionally, any release of addresses for such a party to the public on the internet might result in "gate crashers" who are well known to exploit such situations and end up ruining them.

Though, seems M0rbid is attending, and he's a moderator.
He is only a moderator though. I do not see a moderator having enough authority to authorise such an event to be offically supported by the site (without being given special permission to). Yes we help run the site but you must remember that the site is controled by the administration staff (Ralle and all his trusties) who ultimatly decide on what the site does.

DSG, this is not some official event, we never claimed it to be such. It's a fun get-together. We do not need anyone's approval to invite people to join us. All attendees are 18 or older, which makes them responsible for their own actions.

Moreover, we're not releasing any addresses publicly, this is no house party. We'll meet up wherever we decide to (as already stated, Oslo would seem ideal as it is quite central in Scandinavia), and improvise. I don't know where you're from, but these rumours you're putting out are not familiar to me. Strangers and drinks mix very well as far as I'm concerned, and I am beginning to grow quite experienced with it. If you don't party with strangers, who do you party with? Also, we're talking about Norway here, not America.
