WW2: World in Flames [REVISED]

Don't worry Miss_Foxy, we've got the balancing under control nicely as it is. Like someone said earlier, the city density varies a lot between the countries, there are for instance as many cities on the british isles as there is in france. Also, we have tweaked the alliance standings i was talking about to unfavour teaming among the large nations (so that germany and USSR can't join together and own everyone). Ofcourse, the nations also start with some units as tou suggested, and have done so since the very first version, among theese units they usually get one or two medium tanks despite them not being buildable at the time the game starts.

And no, there will propably not be any resistance forces. It is a sweet idea, but the map is too small.

Sure:) I don't know if this is too much to ask for, but would there be different types of buildings like in the order of [Low] , [Medium] and [High] Densities which are like buildings meant for civilians to live in (But to make it not so complicated, there wouldn't be any civilians) , and allow the different types to generate different amounts of "Extra Income" for your country? And like, if somebody captures them they would get it as well as some Prisoners of War. It might also be destroyed for any space for other buildings.

PS: I'm really sorry if it's a dumb idea, please don't be mad at me...

None of Your ideas seem to be dumb at all, I see them pretty good but as You mentioned, it would make game even more complicated and really most players won't feel pleasure while playing it. Just don't finish every of your idea with pesimistic sentences about yourself. Ok? (promise plox)

After all, Im not author of this mod and I lay creation to right people, I belive they'll make it even better if they have gone so far. Good luck in creating mates, although personally I wouldn't like You to be a slave of modding, enjoy your time, happy x-mas and have a nice new year lads.

Cheers

Hmm... How about an option (Like some 'Upgrade') to inflict minor damage on the building, to lower the income given, just as a last resort if you know you're about to be captured and want to reduce enemy income rate. Like, it could have a certain casting time and enemies must be a certain distance away to prevent it being used too much.

@Foxy you mean something like... evacuating people of the city or destroying income buildings on an territory? If yes, that looks pretty nice. That could happen with Oil Fields aswell.

Btw, forget what I said in my previous post, I just remembered that Fingolfin didn't liked the idea of trenches.

So thats something you would like to do everytime before getting captured?
I had a similar idea but automated, that you wouldnt be able to control a city fully before the people there got used to the new ownership.

For example during Operation Barbarossa I'am pretty sure new German units weren't recruited in the vast lands of occupied Russia but rather from homeland.

edit:
Neither in France, or in Africa..

Hmm... Maybe instead of that, it could be erm, blowing up a power plant just like in Ham_Ham's game. It can't be done unless enemy units are really far away, takes a long time to cast and costs gold.

Did you even read what I wrote? :(

You're mainly posting the same idea but with power plants (which even aint that usual)

I still think my idea is better and more realistic, don't ignore it, counter it! :p

He meant that occupied countries won't join occupants because they dislike their politics or mights, some desperate undercover nazist lovers would but that was the minority even in German army. At the start of the war Nazi army had only German soldiers but at the end of the war they usually conscripted people from their territories.

Miss Foxy actually meant to invent a system where there would be a specified building giving income, capturing it would work like in some risk maps but if there are any allied units it can't be destroyed until they get defeated.

Yup, although I think you meant this:

any enemy units it can't be destroyed

Thank you for the comment:)

Sure Vuor:)
Uhm, I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do Asian Units take more space?

Np.

Oh no, they probably won't, thing is that map size is limited to 8mbit on Battle.net so we have 3.3mb free space left :)

And we mainly just got airplanes and Asian units left so I think they can fit in in those 3.3mbs pretty well :p

= We've filled 4.72/8 mb size

The size is not much of a problem except for the limit.
Just if people DL it via client it would take craploads of time. I've seen a few maps above 7 MB, definitely those were some RPG ones. With the i-net transfer advancement nowadays, everybody could afford downloading a small file, belive or not, there are mods taking more than 100 MB.
Anyway I'd love the soundtrack feature, would be cool if there was variety between battle and peace time and maybe even more, but I won't get mad if there will be none or just one, it's understandable in most cases.

Indeed, FinnWars for BF1942 is 2.16 GB for example
Well if we have room for music I'm pretty sure that's only for one, lets hope Blizzard further increases the limit again, it was 4MB from the very beginning, remember?

I heard from somewhere that Blizzard plans to increase it further, to a two digit number, but we'll need to wait till early next year:)

PS: That's good news!

Merry Christmas to everyone too! I'm glad WW2 gets to celebrate it's first Christmas in its making. Will there be a period to period 'Date' in the game too? Like, when the first month's over it'll say the next month with it's year and etc.
Maybe a New Year's greeting could be on the date January 1 to celebrate the New Year.

I don't understand what you mean.. there is a date counter in the game that counts one day every 2,5 seconds, one month every 30th day, and one year every 12 months. The counter displays the month by name, and the date is followed by it's appropriate suffix :)st, :nd, and :th). What's more to it?

@Falafelkorv: He meant that it would be vain to have special christmas units in the game since beta will not be released until cristmas is over. There is also no way for warcraft to know what date it is (having time counters could cause desynch in multiplayer since it is based on your individual computer time settings).

I'll only agree to special date events if it includes free nukes for everyone on my birthday (feb 23!).

Apocalypse event!

Anyway as said before, Im happy there will be none restriction to actions of each country because of date. I remember last WW2 map had those, it was boring to play like that, endless unit building till you get into fight.

Well, what you said would be exactly what I meant, except one event would be on 1st Janurary 2011 (If the game reaches that far) where's something small but unique would happen:)

If everybody don't leave or someone don't win until that date, which would take like three hours or something, yup, we could make something special.

Союз нерушимый республик свободных
Сплотила навеки Великая Русь.
Да здравствует, созданный волей народов,
Единый, могучий Советский Союз!
(part of hymn of USSR)

1) What is the size of map? oO
2) Paris looks rly unrealistic^^
3) OMG, a palm is bigger than a car. And it's too high)
4) Tank looks as high as a building with 3 floors!
But I liked the map at all!
