If you need a terrainer to buff up your map abit, call me.
I started doing terrains not long ago, and i've practiced alot ever since.
I specialise in:
-Dungeons
-Forests (Elven/Swamplike mostly.)
-Evilifying Terrain (Making it look like, Really evil.)
-Small Cities or Villages
-Holyfying Terrain (Making it look angelic, or something.

Not bad. I could use the help of a terrainer, so your timing is impeccable.

I'm remaking the 11th Vampire, as the only currently working version is nowhere near as good as it's predecessors, and it's been needing a facelift for a while. I absolutely love this map, and would like to see it done for todays standards, so I've decided to take it up. (It's still RoC compatible :\)

The only thing is, I've not yet practiced terraining. Do you think you could recreate the terrain for me? You'll have a template to work with, so you won't need to sit and think of what you're going to be doing. Rather you'll be able to practice and hone your skills. There will be additions, so there will be creative freedom in those areas.

It's 224x224. The areas are small villages, a pure and holy Castle that guards the city, vampiric layers, occult worshiping places, prisons for the damned, stuff like that. It's mainly a big city though, with all these things located in various parts. I'm going to be adding interiors too.

It's a 2man project, and you'll be the other man. My part will be recreating and optomizing the triggers, making spells, blah blah blah. Full credit and everything. What do you think?

what if for example a 128x128 human city, the whole 128x128 must not be used up because I would want buildings that be entered(teleporting the unit to another place when you go near the door because making an enterable building via the doodads in the UTM would require custom camera), how long will it take?

BTW, I'm just asking, I'm not really requesting for it but if you would want to work on it PM me.

Well whatever, i love terraining whatever map it is ^^
If the base terrain is already created, it should be a easy go to make it look cool.
If you have a specefic template for the base terrain, it will take a litle more time, but still it will be easy to look cool :)
Send me the map and let me have a look at it, and i shall improve it where i can.

So you just want me to send you this little map? You don't want me to terrain it into a larger one? But nontheless, a map with the description you give me should be easy and swift ^^ But... does the grove have to fill up all of the space? For that might take some time :p (Simply to make up stuff to fill out the blank space ;)

I prefer to discuss my terrains in this thread, but a city? Should be no problem :) Remember though, it might take a little more time than the other terrains i am working ith, since cities is something i have not practiced before, but i beleive i can make it work.
For the enterable buildings: Do you also want me to make the rooms wich the player teleports to? (And it's not EVERY building in the city that is enterable right? :p


OH AND!
Please note that when i terrain i take a screenshot of it and place it in my My Terrains album. If you do not want this, or do not want me to put the screenshot there before the map is released or something, tell me. I would just really like to be able to see all the diffient terrains i've made in one place :)

Alright, I've attached the map. But no, it's not a vampirism map. It's a 5v5v1 competitive RPG map. Not ORPG, there's no save load and max level is 25.

It's tough to explain, but taking a look at it should give you an idea. If you want I can discuss it's layout so you know what you're working with. To save from clustering your thread I'll PM you.

The terrain isn't terrible. This map was made during RoC times and hasn't changed. You'll see that. Putting it closer to today's standards is what I'm going for. Really give it some feeling and oompf, use the techniques in the terraining tutorials. You're allowed to use whatever imports you want, infact I encourage it.

You're also free to add and use new tilesets to help you out. You'll notice I've allocated some extra space for additions to the map too, which I have planned out and can tell you what I need. There you'll be able to work from scratch.

I do not use ALL of my time on terraining. I am also a active player of WoW, and i just hit 80 (after like... playing for 5 years? Whoah i have way too many things i do...).
But i am fast at terraining and i DO use alot of time on it. (Alot cheaper than using a whole room of my house to set up a toy landscape ^^)

Right now i am working on Improving the terrain of TitanHex's vampire map, but since the Grove DT needs will be SILENT AND SWIFT AS THE OWL(!), i might do that before i finish the vampire terrain since that will take alot of time.

I will be working on two terrains at all times, so when i'm finished with either the vampire terrain or the ORPG terrain, Adikutz terrain will move in on "Being Worked On" :)

Hello. If you have time I would really appreciate some terraining help for my map, Rise of Civilizations. I need some good nature (village/felwood tilesets) terraining. I completed scrapped the old terrain and remade it today. It's kind of bland right now and I could really use some help if you have the time.

One of the best ways to get better at terrains is look at some really good ones. I know if you play Gaia ORPG, you'll find the terrainer has a knack for interiors.

From what I can see about interior, they have a much greater attention to detail. There's a sort of clutter about them, y'know? I think the big issue with indoor terraining though is that WC3 by default does not have much support for them. Instead you have to find and use imports.

That's something that comes with practicing indoor terrain and using UTM to find the multitude of imports to use to terrain indoors. My suggestion to improving your ability to do indoor terrain the fastest is using UTM and creating a ton of indoor scenarios. Then when you want to do your own maps with indoor terrain, you'll know what imports are available.

You of course don't have time for that now, but when you begin to terrain more for yourself and for practice this isn't a bad idea to turn to.

The indoor terraining is going pretty well, but some of the various things on your list that i've made did not turn out just the way i wanted them. Anyways, Status:
-I've fixed up some of the places in the city that just looked TOO bare (though the map in general has alot of good terrain.
-I've made a underground Prison that clearly says "OMG! Something bad broke out of this place!"
-I've Made a crypt that looks normal exept for the enormous load of green mist flying around.
-I've made a "throne room" for the Queen and King of the damned.
-I've made a typical Cave-Of-Bad-Stuff for the Shaman.
-I've done a version of the queens bedchamber that i can withstand looking at.

But that's all, generally.
Also i would really like to play your map when it comes out :p
And yah, it should be finished tomorrow if i don't have too many interruptions.

I'll be doing some beta tests in due time to get balancing done and bugs out. It'd be great to have you try it out when I do those.

And don't worry, take your time. The spells take a bit, since I have to run some debugging on a few.

EDIT:
I'll test to see if the green mist is lag-free in game. Typically it is, but I'll be double certain. Otherwise it all looks good. :D

But a quick note, something bad hasn't broken out of the prison just yet. It still resides within. It's the prison of the original "11th Vampire" as well as other high class prisoners.

It's fine. Hope your tests come back negative and you're alright. :)

Take your time. Coding spells, even in JASS, takes a long time. I spend an entire morning just to churn out 3 bugless spells :\ I have to go through GUI codes and optimize them after I finish the spells, then add new quests and warp points, as well as boost some of the features.

It'll be a week or two before I get to a beta. I won't even need the terrain til I finish the triggers. But if you still wish to help me I could take the map when you're finished, browse through a few things on it, and suggest some terrain changes to better suit it. There's also a few other non-terrain tasks too that could easily be done by someone else, like importing.

But you're a terrainer with a big plate, and I don't expect you to become a project member completely, so no worries. You've already done a big thing just with the terrain :)

Well levdragon, as i've said before: i have a list of requests that need to be finished atm, and it's going pretty slow due to my having less time on my computer than normal (wich is due to me having a strange illness that is currently being looked at by some science dudes.)

Status Report:
I had some problems with TitanHex's map, but they're fixed and the terrain is almost done.
Theese problems were caused by JNGP, wich i downloaded for SpoonTooBig's ORPG map.
Things are going uphill atm, and my terraining will be back to normal soon. (Hopefully...)

Hey I need some terraining help with my map, I have 3 large areas but since i can see that you have got alot of requests im gone ask you if you can take the smallest area, I was thinking about a dark forest.. The only bad thing is that im useing a custom lorderan summer tilset and the only special thing I have for a forest is dark grass :S, I do ofc have the preset Grass and Rock (Unbuildable)

Are you talking about the map you downloaded from my thread? If so, the map had that issue for a little bit until I fixed it. No clue why'd be doing that now though.

Otherwise you may have to be specific at where and why it's doing it, what map are you trying to save.

PS It should still save the terrain if that's a concern.

Status Report:
Sinewy Lair of Spider Queen and Mayer Mansion missing, and castle interior didn't get that big. But my life has been really harsh on me :(
I might get back to you and do more terrain for you later, but right now i have to move on before i get stuck in a endless loop of non-creativity.
