aw.., a bummer that we won't see that cinem, Chaos
but.. oh well..

well.. my current Project is not naga-related at all, since it is Mastermind tank from Red Alert 2 Yuri's revenge. But.. i have a helper on the other site, and, if his animations are cool and hive-enough, the Naga brute might appear here :D

EDIT: other than that, i have a hunter Killer hydralisk mesh, but that's kinda it.

Agreed. It would be good for the death knight. Then you can give him a raise dead ability and reanimate undead naga warriors.

Var, even if you couldn't animate it, naga skeletons would be awesome. They would still make a good doodad. It could be used as a corpse for after a naga battle or what ever.

true. That could be useful. Good idea. :)

Well, as for projects, I started to revamp the texture on my murloc reaper (starcraft unit) in my MurlocCraft project. I think animating it would be so much easier than trying to perfect the murloc marine anims. :/ But... one unit at a time, eh? :D

How about we get some frozen naga as well? Someone may want to create a Northrend map with a naga clan that got frozen in ice. You knowhow we sometimes find mammoths and cavemen frozen in ice in the Artic every now-and-then. XD

Also, my undead naga is supposed to be more of servant for a frost revenant, or some form of powerful sea dwelling creature, not a death knight per say. Though one of those in death knight armour would be kindof cool. the death knight could be raised from the dead. lol

Huh. Interesting. It looks like you're making a ziggurrat out of it. Okay, so on yours, the front looks like it has a door with three bobbles above it and is blocked by a wall. Not sure if that's accurate, but since this is naga, I would sugest adding water to it and the sides. Maybe even a waterfall, if possible. Sine water will be around the place in most cases, I guess you wouldn't really need a ramp, but it could make it look better.

If this is the second stage, we're gonna have to find something to upgrade later, which means we may have to hold off on a couple parts so we can add them to stage 3. XD

Hey guys. I'd like to make a Naga map, but I am not sure what it should be like though.
I'm thinking it should be a Conquest style map centered around the Naga's goals to take over the oceans and water Elemental Plane (inspired from WoW Cata events)

I've been pretty busy this month, but I should be free now.

@Misha, You pulled it off quite nicely. My only complaint are all those lame pearls, but that isn't something that you can change without changing the original one as well.

@Animalpower, sounds cool. I had always thought about making a naga RPG like that, but I rather not add to my list of projects that will probably never get done.

On another note, mah b-day! yay, noone cares. Moving on. :p

Would people here be interested in making a Naga RPG??
I think it could be very fun and entertaining!! But we should work together on it

Gasp! He thought!
lol Yeah, people have talked about a naga campaign for a while. Some have tried, too. Though an RPG is a different story, and much harder.

There's even a model kit with naga doodads, so if one needs to create a naga city or ruins, they can. Of course, the plot is one of the more fun and difficult parts.

It all depends on what you and others can do, how hard and interesting you want it to be, and how you view things (very general depending on what you're doing).

NAGA TECH TREE DESIGN
A Naga Fans production

Introduction: Our primary goal is strickly to design the perfect naga tech tree using our combined knowledge of race making.

Goals: My main goal for this project is to create a race of naga that will actually compare to the original 4 in terms of structure and quality design.

For each unit / building / ability / upgrade we need:
  • Name (ones that are original and pleasing)
  • Design (even a basic sketch to show what we want it to look like)
  • Lore (a background story for each)
These, of course, don't have to come all at the same time. Just start the brainstorm and we will fill in the blanks as we go.

Standards:
The most important thing is originallity. Therefore when thinking of each concept, the first and most obvious thing that comes to mind, scrap that idea. So when thinking of the worker unit, the first thing that comes to mind is the murloc. Every single naga race out there does this. Therefore, what will we do: not use the murloc as our worker. Think of something new.

The second thing is factional standardization. Basically we want our race to look like one, solid army and not a mass of mercenaries from every part of azeroth. The naga race in wc3 has too much unit variation. I would like to stick to a main focus on naga with very few extra species. Maybe have 2-3 units be another race, but that's it. Also when designing their concept (armor, scales, fins, etc.) We need to stick to a very specific theme (color scheme and armor/weapon style)

Also, keep in mind function. It's needs to fit in the tech tree design establish by the original 4.

Group discussion #1 - Racial design

Our first task will be to come up with a basic racial setup. So please post your ideas or if you can draw up some quick sketches of armor and building architecture. This will help us stay focused on a specific racial style instead of going too far and adding in units of every color, from every tribe, and every species that lives underwater.

I also want to emphasize the fact that, since we are strickly designing it and not actually making it (yet, :p), we are not restricted by the existing models/icons/skins. So use your imagination.
Discuss.

Like I said, available models or world editor work are the last things that should be on our minds. I have thought about a similar idea for the worker. (and yes your model would fit this role just fine)

As for name: Adherent (meaning supporter or follower) sound good enough?
Abilities:
Call forth (naga version of summon, similar effect)
Mend (naga version of repair/renew/restore)

That isn't definition of naga, that's definition of mutant. Besides couatls existed before (also exist in emerald dream and are related to wind serpents) and also apparently thanks to RPG wow books its not even aquatic for some reason. Dark Factions rpg-book changed the facts and now those two are just beasts that were tamed.

Just because they exist doens't mean that we have to put them in. My thoughts and suggestion for this (in order to make this vary from any other naga race) is to keep the focus on the naga. I want to make a naga race instead of an underwater legion kind of thing. If you don't understand what I'm getting at then think of it this way. In wc3 you have the horde which is a compilation of several races fighting under one faction. If I were to make an orc race then I would get rid of the trolls and tauren and add in only orc with the exception of some beasts like the wyvern. So basically I want to make a race and not a faction.

This, of course, is just my thoughts on the matter, note that this is a group project so the majority gets the win. Please keep posting your thoughts and opinions.

Misha blame the wowwiki not me.

And yes Chaos I know your feeling about those units and that's why I suggested replacing them. Besides mur'gul slaves for wood since it would be weird for acolyte like worker to cut wood, I don't see reason for turtle and snap dragon. Cuotle is also reasonable since naga them selves cant fly. Unless its some mutation with fish wings?

Yes, couatyl would be a good one to keep for air. (still need one more air after that)

And if we can't think of a different lumber system then mur'gul will be needed. Although I'm sure we'll think of something more original in time. Keep the brainstorming coming.

Btw, where is Lore-wolf off to. Get back here and start working :p hehe (joke)

If a skin or model gives you an idea for a unit then go ahead and suggest it. What I don't want is to base our decisions on whether or not the resources exists. Also, looking at an existing model when thinking of a unit limits creativity and originallity. For example (and simply an example, don't judge this) I might think "hey let's give our myrmidon unit the storm bolt ability...oh wait we can't, the myrmidon model has a trident not a hammer." Instead redesign the concept of the unit (give the myrmidon a hammer, again just an example)
