Exactly what I was trying to say the wholetime... Anyways...
Requiem Bloodymare is the next game I want to discuss. The first thing you'll notice when you run the game is how intense it is. The login screen depicts the insides of a blood vein with blood vessels to boot. The loading screen is a sown up wound that gradually opens up to reveal the muscles beneath it. Moving on... the combat is full of blood and gore. If you strike an enemy, blood will spray EVERYWHERE. The more damage you deal in combat, the more blood-soaked your character becomes. The more damage you deal on a final blow on an enemy, the further away he'll fly (realistically, of course, due to the awesome Havok physics engine).
Now the game is your casual MMO with a sci-fi twist that resembles DOOM somewhat. Demons have plagued the land of Ethergia and you, the player, are a Temperion, a genetically enhanced human bred specifically to combat these demons. There are steam punk cities and technology enhanced buildings and landscapes everywhere. The only thing not included in this game is guns and laser weapons and such. You fight with casual swords and axes and bows and arrows.
There is a deep character customization system. You're a plain Temperion until level 10, and, depending on race, will have 2 different jobs selectable. Each job has different skills and stat point gain. At higher levels you'll earn peices of DNA that you can bring to a genetic engineer who'll merge it with your existing DNA, giving you different bonuses for different situations. At higher levels you'll be able to choose a second job which corresponds to the first one you picked. Each second job has their own advantages/disadvantages, so there's quite some replay value. The final obtainable thing is the Beast Possession. After completing a quest chain (obtainable at level 23) and killing a boss, you'll be able to capture him for beast possession. At this point you gain a bar that gets filled up higher and higher the more demons you slay. Once it reaches max, you'll be able to morph into the beast you killed... let's just say it's a rather 'brutal' experience.
All in all, Requiem is a great game. It's strengths come from it's violence and brutality and it's extensive character creation/class selection/DNA editing. HOWEVER, the blood and gore may be a turn off to younger players and those who don't have a strong stomach.
An 8.5/10.
