Sucks at costom scripts... And I'm no using WEU triggers cuse WE crases if I opens a map with them, so I'm realy only using WEU cuse it have diffrent categoris then WE (example: In in WE Objekt Editor is a hero attruilytes under the combat... thing (damage, attack speedd and more). In WEU it's above, so I think it's much simpler to use WEU. There for I'm asking. (And I did read the rules, but the things in WEU I uses in the same things that are in WE, just in a diffrent order...)

Hi Hi;

New here. Just want to say that I'm going to enter (done a whole lot of paper-sketching tonight). Will hopefully post a WIP at the end of the weekend, hope to have basic terrain and creep selection finished by then.

hmm, well im sure this sounds stupid, but whats a WIP?

im already half done with towers im still workin on creep balance, and the terain looks great from my stand point.

How many changes are we alowed to make to the template?
Is it just a guide line or do we have to stick to that pattern? Are we allowed to change terrain hight ect? Are we allowed to trigger it as we please?

Can we raise the tower limit to 11? 11 is the number of towers you can fit in the build list. You have 12 slots, 11 towers, 1 cancel.
Also, if i give my builder abilities does it count as a tower (im guessing not)

Also, why is Theme worth so many points? I, personally, find it very difficult to keep to a specific theme, especially if you need to have alot of things based around that theme.

No you cannot change the rules :p. Im the only one who can do that and I wont be raising the tower limit to 11. 10 towers is quite enough.
Abilities do not count as towers. Only if you were to use an ability to summon a tower then that tower would count as one tower.

well i finished my map. it will pwn you all, but im gonna give you a chance, so im posting it here. thatll give you alot of time to try and up your maps to better-ness, oh and ham ham, imma play yours and make mine better!!!

Please find attached my WIP1 of T3TD

Am welcoming comments on the theming and terrain atm. Nothing else is really ready for comment.

Specific questions:
Should I use a few more doodads?
Should I smooth out the terrain that will be available to build? (Keep in mind I have not finished limiting where the player can build)
How do you like the theming?

So no icons and model imports allowed. Does that mean we can still import other file types. e.g .slk?
I used WEU to create the nessisary .slk file to change my maps tileset. Then I imported it into my map via a mpq editor.
Now Im wondering if the use of WEU and the mpq editor is legal?

Basically, absolutely nothing can be imported, you have to use WorldEditor, without anything else, and everything has to be based off original content. So I presume that no, what you've done probably won't be allowed.

BTW, my understanding is that it means you can't use vJASS or anything that needs a custom compiler, either.

I'm kinda shure I gona get crossed in triggers, terrain and balancing. Creativity... Well gona get much there I hoppe (not if only creativity with towers counts... Got som crassy ideas I'm going to use in my map). In the rest... I dont realy know...

Why everybody want to import stuff?

Because importing allows you to do many things fancier or easier; things like loading screens or icons can show off a person's 2d art skills; likewise for models and 3d art skills; There is the appeal of getting one-up on people just using basic tilesets, and custom doodads rock compared to blizzard ones (if only for animated grass!).

And when it comes to scripting, vJASS and other things allow complicated spells to be made easier, along with importing them easier.

That said - MUI isn't that important for a single player map...

And i think the idea is to get a view of people's creativity on a level playing field, and highlight what can be done with what is sometimes considered an "old" custom map format, yet is continuously re-invented (i'm thinking of how Gem TD swept USWest recently. And if you think importing is important for a custom map, just look at Warhammer 40k TD - not a single custom model.

well Im out... I wanted to do an outland based theme and with out WEU I cant change the template map's tileset...

You can indeed change tileset with the normal WE :). If that were only a feature of WEU it would have ton more users :). And if you are worried about the cliffs, vgsatomi already asked about that. Check the earlier pages of this thread.

An update for mine: I'm finished with 8 of my towers, all of them having some unique element that makes them different from your normal tower. I also just finished my upgrade system, so now I have to get to work on making my creeps (which is a bigger job than you may think, they have a few tricks on them too)

If it doesn't count it phases out the rule because you could have 10 base towers and 90 different upgrades... But im checking just incase that ( on a smaller scale ) is possible? Maybe 10 upgrade towers on top of the 10 base, but I doubt that'll happen...

Ok for example.

Tower level 1 gets upgraded to tower level 2. That is the same tower.
But, if Tower level 1 got upgraded to Cannon level 2, then its a different tower.

Hey, I've been working on an entry for this contest for some time, but I just registered, so this is my first post on this thread.

The entry is called Overgrowth TD. It's fundamentally a simple TD, but I'm hoping that I've put enough quirky ideas into it so that it's unique. I don't know if my main idea has been taken already, if it is, I'd probably have to drop out... I've uploaded a WIP, so if you want to check it out, please do so. It's not done (80-90%), so be careful. (Wow, 66.6 KB, it's a sign!)

I may not be able to defeat seasoned pros at this contest, but I hope to do well. Which brings me to a question: Will we be given a score even if we do not place within the top three? If so, will our scores be publicly displayed? 'Cause, even if I don't win anything, I really want to know the score of my work.

Yes all entries will be reviewed and given score on the areas mentioned in the in the first post.
