Yeah, now all cinematics are complete!
Here are some comments by me on yours:
Deserted Revenge
+ Nice scenery at the beginning
- you nearly did not work with camera perspectives at all
° you showed that you are able to create massive VFX, but they are so many that the cinematic looks more funny than thrilling - did you intend this?
Dwarf vs. Naga
+ nice sniper idea
- music startet at map init (still in loading screen), use gametime 0.00 instead
- camera went through objects quite often
- timing was not that good; there were often moments where the cinematic seemed to wait for something to happen
Haunted Gold Mine
+ the synchro sounded so funny, I just love it! Perfectly idiotical.

- the watcher could often see parts of the terrain that were not edited
- no cinematography (camera use)
OrcEd
+ terrain is not bad
- music startet at map init (still in loading screen), use gametime 0.00 instead
- very few cinematography
- your cinematic did not finish!? The final camera showing grom just waits and the only possibility to get off the map is to quit war3. Not very nice...
- remakes are generally not the best idea and if they even visually have no chance to top the original, better wait until you get an own idea next time!
Tainted Trail
+ interesting story-workaround for a nice action battle
- music startet at map init (still in loading screen), use gametime 0.00 instead
° you definately should take a look at
my camera system. It will take a little time to get the functions, but the effect is definately worth the effort. If you have such crazy mega sways like in the beginning, they should be smooth!
° very many custom models used; this may make it more difficult to compare it to the other cinematics
End Of The Curse
+ nice terrain
- nearly no cinematography
- no real story; no characters, just battle
Escape
+ very original idea
+ good atmosphere created by very nice terrain and good cinematography
- a little too dark; especially in the end there was nearly nothing I could see, even after I pitched up the gamma
- damn it, setup the cinematic mode at map init, this 0.3-second view on the interface kills the atmosphere - 2 seconds more loading time won't!
° when I read Pirates of the Caribbean, I thought "again that 'He's a Pirate' theme I heard a million times" - nice surprise to here a part from the third soundtrack. It's clearly the best of the series!
Winter's Veil
+ good use of custom models
+ interesting coreography, good action sequence
° the ending was a little too less epic in my opinion... well it's too surprising to be persuading!
° just like Tainted Trail: You should take a look at
my camera system. It could add so much especially to the long sways at the beginning.
Short Cinematic
+ weird music fits well to the rest and turns the crazyness into fun, nice!
- VERY short
- no story, no cinematography
° every time I watch the cinematic, it looks different. That means that you did not take much control making it - this is provoking bugs; better try to get as much control as possible if you make a cinematic
Awesome Robbery!
+ you showed that you know how to create VFX and create big colorful bam-pictures using them
- poor cinematography
- too weird and too many effects to be exciting (in my opinion it's not even funny, but this is just
my opinion), it's just crazy
° if you use such small time differences, don't use waits to take of control of them, because they are very unexact. Use (periodic) timers instead.
Generally, I love this contest because the entrys are so short that it is no problem to watch them more than one time.
Finally, two tips for nearly all of you:
- a watcher does neither win nor loose a cinematic. Usually it's the easiest and best choice to use the trigger action "Victory Playerx NOT showing dialogues, NOT showing scores".
- every cinematic should have a working escape feature. It's not difficult to implement in only cinematic maps, so don't shy the effort - it just looks unprofessional if a cinematic can't be canceled.
