lol yeah, reminds me of that episode too :p

So, what's your favourite race again? Wasn't it the Dwarves?
Mine would probably have to be... all of them! lol
Well, if I had to choose, it would change with what mood I was in. If I felt like winning through swarms of units that could never die, I would probably pick Necropolis and spam Vampire Lords ASAP.
If I felt like going all out on the offensive while maintaining a stranglehold on the enemy, I would pick Barbarians.
If I felt like winning through superior numbers on the battlefield, I would most definitely go the Demon Lords.
If I felt like winning through superior defense over offense, I would pick the Dwarves.
If I felt like killing myself, I would pick the Wizards. Or if I felt like testing them out. I never really use them.

Ultimately, my favourite race would have to be Inferno, but I wouldn't play them too much :p

Hmm imagine this,a bunch of swordsman, peasants and archers are fighting an army of badguys (any type of non haven unit). The bad guys are about to win the fight, but suddenly on the nearby hill, they see a knight standing,a knight with a sword, shield, helmet and all the shiny armor. He raises his sword in the air and charges towards the battlefield and he's followed by a cavarlry force of 50 men! They all shout a battle cry and just shred true the enemy ranks. In the end the battle is won by the knights and other heavan units!I want to be that Knight......

lol, fair enough :p
I prefer the Demonic approach, where you face off in the final battle against your enemy, and your teams are both relatively even. But then you double your numbers in a matter of seconds, instantly winning advantage on the battlefield. Demons just keep coming out of no where, swarming the enemy from the back and blocking them off at the front. Very scary stuff to deal with, hilariously pwnage to use :3

I never did until I read about how op she was. When I read about that, I simply had to put her to the test lol. And believe me, that starting Ballista ability combined with her Iron Maiden ability is simply op :O

Although, when thought about it long and hard enough, Kaspar is op in very much the same way, if not more due to the First Aid Tent healing allies as well as damaging enemies. But one thing Kaspar can not do is make a War Machine do AoE damage 3 times :p

Yeah, she's horrendously op lol
Basically all you need in her army during the early game are those Horned Demons nobody gives a shit about. Use them to hassle your enemy while your Ballista strikes them down. Whatever the Ballista doesn't wipe out, the Horned Demons will ;P

Incidentally, do you reckon that Kaspar is as op as Deleb? I'm thinking he could count as a little less op than Deleb, but then again the First Aid Tent ability he has counts for both damaging the enemy with Plague Tent AND healing your own units :/

Yea, that's right, Plague Tent can't harm all targets. It's especially useless against the Undead. However, the regenerative factor still comes into play, but yes, I do agree that Deleb is much more powerful on account of immunities and such.

Although I must say that I'd rather have an army of Vampire Lords lol

Mind you, I do love all the different Gating abilities. However, going Deleb is like playing an extra unannounced race purely because she does not play by the normal rules of any other race XD

It's not often that you can get killed before the gaters arrive. Here's a little trick I use. When it comes to the Demon Lords, one of the best abilities to have is, believe it or not, Logistics. Pretty much as soon as you have the Consume Corpse ability as well as Basic Logistics, you can then get Swift Gating. Also get Pathfinding, as you will then be able to get Teleport Assault.

Now, one hero that I did like quite a bit was the Rusher, Grok. He starts with Basic Logistics and Pathfinding, and his ability gives him bonus movement on the battlefield AS WELL as the ability to cast Teleport from the word go at half the normal cost. However, his Teleport ability kind of becomes redundant when you get Teleport Assault, although I suppose it could still be handy.

So, when it comes to the Demon Lords, I recommend either Grok or Nymus (the Gate Keeper, gates in more creatures depending on the hero's level). Deleb is just too op to consider making your favourite hero ;P

Swift Gating is a life saver for the Demons, and as the main Demon units you want to use in the frontline have high initiative (i.e. Firehound or Cerberus, Nightmare or Hell Stallion), it can make the Demons almost impossible to deal with at times. Basically, Gating is the Demon's equivelant of Waiting. That is, they only use 50% of their initiative, meaning their turn comes sooner than when they do any other action. However, Swift Gatings halves this, meaning that you only waste 25% of the creature's Initiative. So, all you have to do is hang back with your units if you're concerned that the enemy has some high initiative units of his own that can charge you, and be sure to Gate the creatures strategically

For Gating strategically, don't put them all on the Ranged units, one bulky unit is usually enough for them. For the larger units, try Gating them across the middle of the battlefield, keeping them a little closer to your units. Use the smaller units to fill the gaps. That way, any non-flying, low-initiative units will have to go through the Gated units before they can move on to your real units ;P

oh yeah, I love how as you build up your town, you paint more of the picture. Very awesome stuff =)
Awesome stuff that was RAPED and VIOLATED by Ubisoft making towns too impersonal. They sacrificed an awesome feeling and atmosphere for their 'I haz cool modelz' syndrome -.-

Hmm... let's discuss... the Necropolis first :p
I love the Vampire Lords hands down. In every game, I love upgraded Vampires (with the exception of HoMM IV where upgrades were not available, and of course HoMM1 where the Necromancer was not yet created). They can be so imba if used correctly, but they can fail so much if not.

The castle is very nice indeed, looks creepy and powerful in the same time.
Dread Knights are cool esp. when upgraded, they had too look difrent to fit the style of the h5 undead....cuz in h5 the undead serve Asha and that Spider while in h3 they dont serve anyone but themselfs :p also the Liches aways looked wierd and I had trouble with they're sex,are they men or women?!??

Liches are wizards that became too powerful for gender to be an issue to them. As soon as they reverted to the Lich form, they sacrificed life and gender for eternal power. However, a large number of them only just realized after employing the Lich process that they could no longer have sexual intercourse with anyone, and that made them very sad :p

lol, jks, I have no idea what gender they are, as it is hard to tell with Skeletons :S
But I would guess.... nope, I can't even guess, they're just too damn confusing lol

Its wierd how dragons, medusas, unicorns, blehmounts and other creatures who dont look like they have the human body, could be ressurected,i mean you killed a dragon, why not ressurect it as a skeleton dragon? But no you will ressurect it as just another weak skeleton....

lol, yeah, that's where Heroes V's new system is better - you can actually resurrect something somewhat relevent to what you just killed. And I also like that you can't resurrect beings of pure light such as unicorns, as there are no real Undead alternatives and it's a cool idea, anyway :p

I reckon that it's cool, though, that in HoMM3 you end up spamming the level 1 unit as the Necromancer very well. I also like that you can get Peasants and make them Skeletons. Very imba indeed =D

Ah, the Rampart. Best level 1 unit hands down :3
And the Grand Elves were awesome archers, too :3
I also loved how powerful the Unicorns could be, but one thing I never liked about Rampart was that the Green/Gold Dragons were inferior in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE to the Red/Black Dragons. Gold Dragons were immune to level 4 spells and under. Black Dragons were immune to all spells. Gold Dragons had 250 health. Black had 300. That was perhaps one of the few things that were stupid about HoMM 3 :p

But Centaurs were awesome! They had 10 Health when upgraded (the most a level 1 unit had, contested only by the Castle's Pikeman), were super fast and dealt reasonable damage :p
I recently started a quick HoMM 3 match as Rampart on All For One (classic map, awesome stuff :p), and, due to the final expansion, my hero is the most op piece of trash ever lol.
Get this. I went Eleshar, who has a specialty in Intelligence, giving me even more than double the mana amount I should have. I also have a Wizard's Well Artifact (which required assembling), which restores him back to full mana each day. He also has the Wizards Bracelet thing, or whatever it's called. Name regardless, it causes all your spells to last 50 turns longer. I also have Master Air Magic and Master Water Magic, Haste and all that stuff, and the Sphere of Permanence which makes all my units immune to Dispel. That is fucking awesome XD

that's the funny thing, it's exactly how the map played out :O
Like, you know how in All For One there's the level 7 creep guarding a powerful artifact to the right of the Neutral Rampart town that is below Red's starting position? I was Red, and I later claimed that artifact for myself, which happened to be the Magic Well thing. As for the Archmage's artifact, I just happened to chance across ALL 3 artifacts that make that up XD
It was hilarious that the final artifact was in Blue's base. Blue had just been too lazy to kill the creeps guarding it lol, so I took the artifact for myself XD
The Sphere of Permanence was down where the Neutral Castle Town can be found, if memory serves correctly :p

Yeah, I played WoG for a while, but I got bored of it after a while lol. But I'm surprised you don't remember us discussing about it :p

Btw, I've recently played Buried Treasures as Fortress, and I have to say, Fortress kicks ass! :p
Well, mainly if you get Master Earth Magic, Shield and Stone Skin all on Tazar (who starts off with Advanced Armorer + Armorer Bonus :p). You're hero's units just become defensive powerhouses, especially when you learn Teleport when you have Hydras :p

The trouble that I had with getting into WoG was that:
A) The new units they add don't feel too good to me
B) The terrain gets crapified
C) There's so many new buildings, I feel as if HoMM 3 has been raped before my very eyes (well, only a little bit, sort of like WoG goes no further than the foreplay :p)

Anywayz, I much prefer the classic game in terms of using the original resources to outsmart your opponent as best you can :3

So, shall we discuss Fortress? I personally am dissapointed they didn't include a Lizardman race in HoMM 5 (or any of the other HoMMs, for that matter D:), do you reckon they should have included them at all?

Well its better if you play WoG on random or WoG maps olnly....
Ok Frotress it is
hqdefault.jpg
I've aways liked the town's sleepy jungle/swamp type like imagine how cool it would be to see it in real life.....Anyways Gnolls are pritty strong lizards are also cool, those flys are cool in WoG becase they can cast berserk and return after they attacked.....The other Lizards with the 6 legs when upgreaded are very nice with their paralyzing skills. Those rock bulls aways looked wierd to me but when upgraded, they have death stare and kill alot esp if they attack stronger monsters.Wyrms are avrage flyers with regeneration,Hydras arekinda lame becase they're slow but they get good when they have 3 heads.
They should have....I mean what are hydras doing underground and why are they soo weak right now?

lol, Fortress isn't Underground, Dungeon is. And in every other HoMM title, Hydras are a part of the 'Dungeon Race' (otherwise known as the Warlocks). So, this makes more sense lol.

Speaking away from WoG, every unit in this race is pretty damn awesome. I mean, although Dragonflies are pathetically weak, but their upgraded form has some awesome abilities (I mean, Dispel AND Weakness on attack? C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!). And they're so damn fast!

Basilisks are okay, but I wouldn't buy them immediately. Instead, I'd let their numbers grow in my town, possibly purchasing them when I can afford to so I both have some basic base defense as well as reduce the damage a Week of the Plague can deal, but when they come in huge numbers they can be mean (emphasis on can).

I personally prefer the Gorgons, though. They are my favourite unit, hands down. They can take shit loads of damage and deal a shit load back with their Death Stare ability. They are DEVASTATING to level 7 units, especially in great numbers. I like to get them ASAP.

Hydras are good, but, as you have said, they are so damn slow. However, when I went Fortress, I chanced upon learning Teleport. Yep, that's right. Chaos Hydras + Teleport = WIN. You can send the Hydras into the thick of it instantly, which is where they deal the most damage :3

As for Wyverns, the only good thing about them is how early you can get them. All they require is the Lizardman dwelling, and therefore I exploit that :p
By getting Wyverns ASAP, you are much more easily able to creep. However, in the late game, they make very little difference :/

Gnolls are a great starter.

they only get two shots when levelled up in WoG :p
That's the problem with them lol, if they had 2 shots in the actual game, they'd be awesome, but they don't :p

So, which is your favourite hero? Oh, and don't forget that I have 2 more posts before that last one because I didn't have enough room to talk about each unit in one :p

My favourite hero is Tazar for his Armorer Bonus, as more defense is exactly what the Fortress units need (as the majority of them are incredibly slow, it allows them to travers the battlefield while taking minimum damage from enemy ranged units. It also allows you to withstand attacks from faster, more damaging units much better).

lol, true, but why not exploit the obvious strengthes of the Fortress (i.e. their defense)? Those Gorgons are really awesome defensively, and once they reach the enemy they possess an incredibly powerful attack (especially when they're upgraded :O).

Speaking of ranged units, something just occured to me. I reckon that if Tower had a hero that specialized in Archery, they would be imba pwnage :p
Considering as how in the early game they have Master Gremlins, in the middle game they have Arch Magi and in the late game they have Titans :p
That way, you could even go as far as having all 3 in your army and causing massive havoc with all your ranged units. Combine with Master Air Magic and Precision and you'd be tank XD

The other reason for not wanting to rely on one ranged unit is a very deadly reason indeed - Blind. If you put all your eggs into using 1 ranged unit and your opponent has Blind, you're screwed. And even if they don't have blind, all they need to do is either have a fast moving flyer to block the Lizardmen or just have an array of spells like Curse and Weakness in order to decrease the attack strength of the Lizardmen (or Haste to get the bulky units up close and personal with them a lot faster than usual).

True, but it also depends on what spells you have. You don't need to be a terribly good mage to learn Teleport, for example. However, if the odds are against you in terms of getting Teleport, investing in early Wyverns makes sieging a very nice option, and so early in the game, too :3

Additionally, the Dragon Flies can wreak a shitload of havoc against opposing armies providing they come in enough numbers (due to their awesome combination of abilities). And they're soooo fast XD

Btw, as Fortress, one of the best abilities to have is the Artillery one. That way, you'll be able to destroy their turrets or bring down their walls/gate much earlier than usual. Worked for me :3

Hang about, I didn't mean Artillery, I meant the Catapult one lol. Completely forgot that Artillery was Ballistae :p

Hmm... which town to discuss next...

Well, I'm thinking of the Stronghold. Classic Crag Hack for me all the way :p
Offense is an awesome ability, and it outlines the difference between Fortress and Stronghold (Fortress = Defensive, Stronghold = Offensive). So, let the Stronghold discussion begin :3
