True, I loved that about H4! But I also love the scenery of H5 in the towns (despite not ever being able to find what I'm looking for... thank god for those little buttons down on the bottom lol). But I loved how you could have a Life town on dead ashen ground or a Chaos town on grass. However, H5's town system is very different, and I don't think it's adequately prepared for changing the terrain it possesses :(

I successfully installed it =D

Btw, I wouldn't need to change the country of the comp, my native language is English lol

WoG is awesome! It freakin' rocks! But I'm a little confused... it says that for every 4 levels my Ogre Leader gains, I get another ballista. But I only see one ballista doing shitloads of damage. Is it because the 'multiple ballistae' are represented by 1 ballista? Does the same apply for First Aid Tents? I only get 1 attack for all the ballistae in that case, and the same applies for the First Aid Tents :/

Yeah, you could also buy them from blacksmiths.
If theres anything you dont understand about the mod ask me,ive played it for several years.
Dont forget to do the WoG Options (in the map screen).I recomend you play on random maps.

Hmm... what else can we talk about?

I tried out the Neutral race, it's pretty lol :p
Don't know which is better, Halflings or Rogues, after all, the constant luck bonus on ranged attacks is always welcome.

I like Nomads more than Boar Riders.

Air Messengers are just an improvement all round for the Fire Messengers.

Werewolves suck, especally in comparison to the Troll.

Enchanters > Sorceress, but that's upgrading for you :p

Nightmares are good, Hell Steeds are also good... this isn't an upgrade, this is 2 completely different units that look awkwardly similar!

Rust Dragon or the other one... not sure, 3-headed attack is always welcome, and on a flyer, too! But Rust Dragons are a little tougher... hmm... what do y'all think?

Well when i played with the neutral town i didnt like how non of the units match eachother and i changed back to the good old elemental city.
Rouges are better if you have the scouth skill and maybe some artefacts (that way i think you could gain up to 5 free rouges a day)
Nomads are better yeah.
The messengers i hate cuz theyre just a ripoff from the original elements but with a crappy stone golem skin.
Werewolves do suck alot and i dont like how they can turn your stacks into werewolves, just ruins moral and there is no place for them any more.
Sorcress are made just so the enchanters can be in the town.
Nightmares and hell steed i dont remember whos who,but i know that one of them had a really nasty skill that kills other units after their attack.
Rust dragons are OK but they're weaker than the magic dragons.

yea, I hated that too about the neutral race, but at the same time I loved it because I was really really bored at the time lol. But after 1 or 2 rounds of playing as them, you get sick of them really quick.

I like the Master Gremlin's Landmine ability, so op lol. And if you have the additional upgrades option on, Santa Gremlins end up making the entire Tower race horrendously op :O

400 Diamond Golems!!?!?!?!? HOLY OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hence the hilarious problem of having that option lol. They thought experience remaining the same when you boosted a unit stack's numbers was imba, but they never once thought that having 32 growth (with the Castle) of a monster like the Santa Gremlin would be a little imbalanced? Or 12 growth of Diamond Golems, a level 6 unit, would be quite over powered? Gives you something to think about as to why they wouldn't give that extra option, but anyway... :p

Shit, 400 Diamon Golems + the Golem stat boost... I think I just crapped myself :O

No really with that artefact that upgrades some of the units (golems for sure)i didnt really spend alot of cash, plus the map is full with events and pandoras boxes you get a lot of golems who upgrade for free and theres also an artefact that gives you money equall to your army or something.

lol sounds like a funky item :p
btw, if you put the balancing option on (I'm sure you already know this, but this is a discovery for me lol) with the extended upgrades option, you can change your Master Gremlins into Halflings for free as opposed to paying for Santa Gremlins. Santa Gremlins are better, and Master Gremlins have that awesome Land Mine ability, so I don't really like that option much, but it's nice to have lol

Lol i didnt know about that balance thing :O
Anyways heres a trick ive learned, from time to time you will come across a mage school or a battle academy where you can learnspells, skills, and improve your stats (A,D,P,K)If you have olnly one of lets say defence when you go to the academy they'll give you another one for free. You'll also see a tower (its another building) in witch lives and old ghost ho gives you +1 stats but takes you 1.What i mean is that you get one free defence and trade it to the ghots for another stats. Its really cool you should try it.

Btw, I have recently been playing the Necropolis in the HoMMV TotE campaign, and I have grown to like the race. You know how Deleb of the Inferno race is grossly op? Try Kaspar of the Necropolis. Deleb starts off more op, but Kaspar becomes grossly op within 2 levels minimum with Advanced War Machines and Plague Tent. Most enemy creeps won't even reach you before you dominate them with the Plague Tent, your heroes attack and whatever ranged firepower you throw into the mix. And as the Undead specialize in bringing back the dead to serve them, this can cause a snowball effect that is not easily stopped :p

Especially when combined with swarms of Skeleton Archers, some Liches and masses of Vampire Lords :O
No living army can withstand an assault from that winning combination! As for the remaining army slots, fill 'em up with Plague Zombies for beefy protection of your ranged units, Wraiths to cause heavy damage on the enemy if they either get too close or are too numerous for your Vampires to handle alone, and Bone Dragons to take hits from enemy ranged units (although enemy ranged units don't cause much of a problem at all. Why? You have the First Aid Tent. Plus a per level bonus on the First Aid Tent. Plus, most likely, Raise Dead. Anything you do lose, Eternal Servitude will make up for, as well as Necromancy. Essentially, you're snowballing around the map :p)

Yes but with the necromancer energy you rise some troops in monday but you lose all your points on them for the rest of the week which is lame :/ before ToE you could fight every map square that has an army on it and you could still gain undead, now its just one and you cant

yeah, it's true that the new method is kinda lame, but at least it puts a seal on the Necropolis being *too* op :p
And at least it's still better than the storyline lol

In your opinion, who is your favourite Dwarf hero? For me, from a tactical perspective, it would probably have to be Ingvar. He starts with Basic Defense and Vitality, giving a solid start to getting the Defensive Formation ability, and his ability is very nice indeed (+1 Atk and Def to all Shieldguards + upgrades for every 2 levels, +1 Health every 5).

Due to his ability, when you reach level 20, your Shieldguards not only have +10 Atk and Def, but they also have +4 HP, and by then you'll have them in HUGE numbers, making it horrible to deal with from the enemy's perspective. On top of that, they get +2 from Vitality and the Defensive Formations ensures that your units gain bonus Defense so long as they stick together.

OMG thats my one too,the guy whos spec. is the shield guards.Esp with his defence skill and the fact that the shield dwarfs if not are one of the best starting units. And you get to have alot of them in earlygame when other players are still weak.
(i havent played heroes 5 in a long time so ive forgot most of the names :\ still have it on my pc though)

lol, I remember the names because of the Skillwheel I dled :p
But yeah, I think Ingvar is by far the best Dwarf hero.

How about Inferno? We shall exclude Deleb for the main reason that I know she is banned in most metagames on account of her being grossly op. For me, my favourite hero would have to be Nymus (the Gating specialist). The main reason for this is obviously because he enhances the Gating ability, which is Inerno's strongpoint, but also he starts off with Basic Luck and Magic Resistance. For Inferno, Soldier's Luck is the best ability to have when you speed tech to Hell Stallions as I do. That way, their Fear Attack ability hits more often and you get a straight way to the Swarming Gate ability (which grants a chance to gate in DOUBLE the normal amount of units). How about you?

lol, fair enough :p

Well, then, skipping Inferno, let's take a look at... the Knights of Haven!
I reckon my favourite is Vittorio the Siege Engineer, although I don't play much Haven. The reason is that for every level, your Ballista gains +1 Atk and your Catapult gains a further 2% chance to hit the wall. Additionally, he starts off with a Ballista as well as the Ballista Skill, making him sort of a weaker version of Deleb. All the same, his power combined with the training ability of the Haven makes him very powerful, as I focus primarily on upgrading my Peasants into more Archers to get those Crossbowmen (the new upgrade for the Archers :p). They have no range penalty. But that's more so a racial ability anyway :p. How about you?

Well my favourite haven hero is the guy with the knights.Theyre the best upgraidable creature, very strong in combat plus if used right (jouster strike was the ability i think) they can do alot of damage. The first upgrade is paladins who can heal, the second is champions who could attak to units if theyre standing in a line and the champion got enough speed.Paladins can olnly heal they dont ressurect witch makes them kida usless, well maybe you should have a few just for healing :p so with knights i chose champions.

hmm... yeah, I have to agree with the Champions being great, especially considering they can deal half damage to units behind the intended target. Makes them VERY offensive, which is nice :D

Let's move on to... Necromancers! Needless to say, Kaspar is my favourite hero ;)
Early First Aid Tent ability, bonus to the First Aid Tent, Kaspar can get the Plague Tent ability by level 3 at earliest. And with his damage bonus in addition to his healing bonus, this can be grossly op against most creeps. Dealing with ranged units? First Aid Tent resurrects any units you lose while you shoot them with Skeleton Archers and your hero. Definitely my fav, what's yours?

true, that would be useful, but I don't like Raise Dead so much because it reduces the health of the target during combat. Good for survivability, though.

Hmm... who next? I want to talk about the Barbarian, but am unsure as to whether or not you've had much to do with them yet :/
So, in the mean time, let us speak of the Hippy Rangers!

Tbh, I don't think much of their heroes, but when push comes to shove, my main emphasis is on those awesome archers they have - the Master Hunter. Arcane Hunter upgrade may have no range penalty, but Master Hunters get that with double strike. Additionally, though, Master Hunters have the Warding Arrows, which are lifesavers. Now, what I can't remember if the Warding Arrows only have a chance to occur, or if they always work. If it's only a chance, then I'd go with the Ossir hero - quick pathway to Soldier's Luck (skills seem to come more frequently once you have basic of them :p) as well as a bonus to the Atk and Def of all Hunter units.

Well its either that chick with the bounus on the avenge (shes got starting defense wich is usefull too) or that guy with the bounus on xp (gains 2% more every level)i dont play sylvan that much, they rely on too much wood.Like almost every sylvan building needs about 10 wood. And thats really anoying, becase you need alot of it.So its either fighting creeps or dealing with those frauds who can sell you a pice of wood for abou 200 but when you try to sell they buy it for 50.(i know the effect gets better if you have alot of towns)

yeah, I hate using the Marketplace when I have to, just to get a common resource -.-
Apparantly, the Sylvan have like 2 buildings that don't require wood, which is gay :p
That's why I follow the strat that spends as little wood as possible until you can get Hunters, which on the higher difficulties is practically impossible to do, anyway.
However, their Sprites are very powerful Tier 1 units. Cleansing is a great asset on any creature, and Sprites are able to deal No Retaliation damage to 3 lined up units at the same time. Adding Flying makes them terrific. Just their numbers aren't great, so losing any early on is not adviseable :p

Okay... who's next? Shall we discuss Barbarians?

Okay, my favourite Barbarian hero used to be the Goblin King purely because it was the last one I used and his starting skills gave you a straight path to the Battle Elation ability, which gives +50 Rage Points for every triggered morale effect, but I've changed my view recently to a different hero. His specialty is in the Warriors, and he starts off with a Ballista and Basic War Machines. This is preferable for the strat I'm doing, as Barbarian heroes have an 8% chance of getting Basic War Machines as opposed to a 15% chance of getting Attack. Why do we want attack? Triple Ballista + Flaming Arrows = gg.

Basically, Flaming Arrows ignores the target's defense, and what with the multiple shots coming out of your Ballista, not much can withstand such a heavy attack.

One strategy I've tried recently with the Barbarians is, when attacking creep camps, splitting my Goblins so I fill up all my remaining stacks with just 1 GOblin each. They act as walls, but are ultimately there to be sacrificed. When they die, all your other units gain +30 Rage Points. And considering Goblins come in HUGE numbers, this is a great way to win :D

Well, while no one starts off with that ability, Urghat starts with the prerequesites to get to it (Basic Logistics and Pathfinding). Also, Urghat's ability (Tracking) possibly makes her the best scout in the game :3

Let's move on to the Wizards :3

I must confess, I don't really play with Wizards often enough to have a specific favourite hero, but I'll list the possible candidates as well as the reasons. Faiz's special ability on Vulnerability (causing damage based on the hero level in addition to the original effect) is great, but I'm not sure I would choose a hero based on that exclusively. Then there's the Golem Crafter, purely because Golems are awesome as well as his starting ability is Vitality.

But, although I haven't played with this hero yet, I think Havez the Gremlin Master would be my choice, as he starts off with War Machines (which probably means he starts off with a Ballista... *sigh*, Ballista heroes are always so imba :p).

lol, I use Gargoyles as super fast meatshields :p
Very handy while creeping, but they otherwise suck :p
That's why I don't play as the Wizards much, using the Gargoyles effectively gets boring very quickly lol

That leaves... the Warlock!

For me, I just can't go past using Eruina for her special (every time she casts a spell, there's a chance that any Shadow Witches in her army will also shoot at the target). However, that may not be so good if I plan on using the other upgrade for the Shadow Witch. So, my alternative would be Sinitar. When he gets to a high enough level, some of the cheaper Empowered spells might even cost less than the original version :3

Mind you, I don't often play as Dungeon (although they used to be my favourite, but back then I never paid much attention to what heroes I was using lol). What's your fav?

My fav dungeon hero is Kythra
Dun_Kythra.jpg

And she specs in Minotaurs who play the role of a meat shield and avarage walker.

lol, she wins the game through the tactics of clanking (that is to say whenever she opposes a Knight in armour, you will here a *clank*)

Have you played the campaign in ToTE, btw? I tried doing it, got up to the last Necropolis level, but unfortunately there's a big bad ass Demon Lord who starts harassing you when you need to keep all your heroes in one place while Arantir goes to a garrison just to OPEN THE FUCKING THING I hate the level quite a lot -.-'
