Wrong the POINT is, Pyritie does whatever the fuck he wants, when he wants. Yesterday he wouldnt even fix the image bug in my award but he had the time to make these bullshit versions. It's honestly rediculous. At this point Py can do what he wants and get away with it, he linked porn twice in chat an he didn't even get a slap on the wrist, you know if anyone else were to do this Ralle would shitstorm.

Uh, I don't have powers to upload images to the server. Everyone's awards don't display correctly at first.

People have been banned for talking about porn, and apperently when you link it TWICE thats code for.. "there goes py breaking the rules, time for a promotion!"

I love how serious people take the Internets forums now it gives me a chuckle more then the awards do.
 
I hate the idea, not 70% of the community should have some random award
it's like having an award for rep.

new awards are welcomed as long as they are not given to half the community
those new "excellence" awards were a great idea for example and it's hard to get one

want to keep the awards? give them a purpose and a reason to receive one (not over 20 member in few days for loving Py in chat)
else just get rid of them
 
Ok, stop this madness. Pyritie, I supported you at first, not that I knew it was you, but you are getting off the edge. Baking vengeful actions, by attaching even more icons doesn't make you look better. Just get rid of these icons, before some mistake of yours bears extra rage towards you. I know you have a bunch of 'fans' around, don't let that portrait fail, like Britney Spears' did :D

This is pathetic. Not the award or Pyritie, but how fucking terrible the community has become. Call me an oldfag, but there was a time when we screamed "power abuse!" it actually meant something - usually MasterHaosis banning someone for a ridiculous amount of time for a very stupid reason.

Christ, I bet none of you even remember that. No, the new community is all those nubs who loved Haosis and thought he was awesome, spamming his fucking smiley in the chat every two seconds.

Grow up.

Well I find it constructive and democratic, plus nowdays people here at Hive seem to be more serious about mods abusing their powers even just a little bit... oh, and Ralle is on our side. Join or perish!

Maybe, maybe. But this behavior still should never happen again. Plus I planed it more to be a discussion of do we need awards like these, but someway it turned out to be a mod-blaming in power abuse thread. Maybe its partly my fault too, so I say we should return to the original topic.

Still, if the *cough* 'awards' *cough* stay here, at LEAST remove the Pie 'award' or give it to more people. It will either make some people jealous, angry or yell at admin contact ''POWER ABUSE!!!1one!'' or something else. I don't 'hate' it nor am i jealous about it, but I still can't see the should-be humor in it.

EDIT: I forgot to add that it already kinda turned to a problem from a rant - notice all the spamming & other argument in the thread.

Actually you know what, I'll leave this open.

I'd also like to add something. To those who think these "devalue" "real" awards, I mean seriously -- look at the award. Obviously a "Modeling Contest #382 - Winner" or "User of the Year: 2008" award is going to look better than a "llama: This user is a drama llama" icon, for example. They don't devalue them at all.

For example, deviantART has something similar. You have "badges" for stuff like "Former Volunteer" and "Customer Service Expert" yet you also have badges like "Llama Wizard" and "Cake: Enjoys birthday shenanigans". And I have not seen any sort of drama over the silly badges "devaluing" the more serious ones.
 
Im open for suggestions, but if people that doesnt win any contest or dont have any umm....any..reason to get an award gets and award then daaaamn I want one too :D.

This thread made me laugh. I guess the award served it's purpose after all.

It's funny how a mod makes something funny, and a bunch of people who want to be mods act very serious and revolt.

How silly indeed.

I even saw one comment that said "the Hive is rotting away". Well, of course it is. It is because people are not serious unless it makes them look good so they revolt against someone who is not being serious only to not be serious again!

Let's be honest. Nothing on this site will ever be serious. Why? Because it's a forum about modding a video game. You may say, "yes but the awards should be a serious matter!". Says who? C'mon. Nothing on this site is serious. And, I'm ok with that. Ralle isn't selling anything (except new user names and custom icons...) so why should we go all ape crap when the delicate internal balance of the Hive cosmos is tampered with to look a bit silly?

Everyone keeps on about "how a mod should conduct themselves"...as if they are paid individuals who are actually doing something important here. No.

You see, if I were a mod in his position, I wouldn't have done that, only because I wouldn't have thought of it. I would have done something just as silly though.

You remember all those times ralle would come into chat and screw up the text or colors? Those were good times. Now, it's a bunch of people desperate to be in a moderators position so they attempt to look serious and logical-ish!

Casing point, no matter how stupid and silly a thing that an administrator/mod does, it doesn't really matter! Because if you take things like the awards, the rep, the power seriously, then you shouldn't be on this site in the first place. You should be out there in the world trying to receive somewhat of a life...

People on this site need to understand how little stuff like this matters. I'd rather have fun than have serious awards. Further more, I'd rather be on a site that is loose and silly, than a site that takes itself too seriously for something that doesn't matter at all.

From what I can see, Py hasn't damaged the site. He has just made the awards less serious. Which is a good thing in my opinion. Sure we shouldn't just overwhelm the section with random awards, but the amount of silly ones at the moment is fine.

So, kudos to Py.
 
You know you should have at least made "Pie contest" and award users who make best image or something with a pie.

But it is strange how a joke can make so many people angry. It isn't like it is permanent award (it isn't even an award, it is just a joke).

Personally, I think the distribution of these awards depends on the political alignment of the receivers. Those who support the capitalist corporate dictatorship get a highlighted status of citizenship that seemingly renders them above the common people, whilst the working class gets nothing but heavier burdens to enhance their enslaved status.

Down with the corporate fascism! Give an equal amount of awards of equal value to all the working men and women! Up together for a better Hive, where everyone has an equal amount of rep, awards, join date, post count and username!
