• Players are always divided to the teams in order starting from the top of game lobby
  • The system works for any amount of players
Example: 5 players in game will give the following options
  • FFA (1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1)
  • 2 Teams (2 vs 3) [Unbalanced]
  • 3 Teams (1 vs 2 vs 2) [Unbalanced]
  • 4 Teams (1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 2) [Unbalanced]

  • 3 Teams (2 vs 2 vs 2) [Balanced]

      • Environmental sounds at appropriate places
      • Combat sound effects
      • Miscellaneous system sound effects on various occasions
  • Detailed and varying terrain

    • Custom trees, flower patches, structures and various other environmental doodads
  • Loads of custom models
Save/Load Systems

  • Note that your code is case-sensitive AND bound to your username
  • Also note that playing single player will not earn you score
Advanced damage modeling
  • Being kicked or interrupted during a strike can throw you off balance and cause you to stumble
  • Getting critically low on health will make you limp and bleed, reducing your movement speed
  • Beautiful gore effects upon death
    • Bloody limbs and body parts fly in arcs through the air leaving momentary blood trails behind
  • Arrows and throwing weapons stick to their targets
    • A feature you may have seen in games like Oblivion or Mount&Blade
  • You can disembowel enemies by slashing them while they are stumbling!
  • You can impale enemies by lunging through them while they are stumbling!
AI enemies
  • They are capable of kicking you, throwing stuff at you, using power slam, shooting at you...
  • Some of them will also limp when their health is low enough
  • Only present in the Boss Mode for now
Bots
  • Blades 'n Gore II supports AI controlled bot players.
  • During setting selection the host can select a bot threshold, which is basically a player count number.
    • If the actual player count is less than the selected number, bots will fill the missing slots.
  • Also, if a player leaves the game and bot threshold has been set, a bot will take over the leaving player to keep the player count in the defined amount.
  • The bots are currently available for deathmatch, team deathmatch, and boss mode.
Character Customization
  • Players can customize their character's gender, face and hairstyle
  • You can earn customization unlocks by reaching the required ranks!

Gameplay in more detail

The systems are complex and there are many nuances and subtleties that will easily go unnoticed at first.
However, you will only have to play the game for 5 minutes to grasp the concept and to understand the basics.
Defend [Q] - Protects you from incoming damage. You must be facing the damage source to block the damage.

Lunge [W] - A long range strike.

Slash [E] - A wide area strike.

Drink [R] - Heals you gradually. However, you are vulnerable to attacks while drinking.

Sprint [A] - Temporary speed bonus suited for fast long range travelling.

Power Slam - Deals tremendous damage, even pushing half of it through defend. Slow to cast though.

Kick [D] - Completely ignores defend and sends the target stumbling backwards.

Tumble [F] - A quick evasive move. Can also be used to boost other abilities with extra movement.
The trick to winning the battles lies in knowing how to conserve and use your stamina

Note: Depending on the game mode and settings, you may be able to level up your abilities!

"Took-the-whole-summer-to-finish" -Update!

Version 0.99h

  • New Content
    • New Full-screen setting selection system.
    • New Loading Screen.
    • New blood effects upon taking damage.
    • New terrain: Beach
      • A beach that shares the theme of the island terrain while having only half the surface area.
This makes it ideal for dueling and deathmatch games for 6 players or less.
      • Available for: Deathmatch, Duel Arena
  • Improvements
    • Combat damage floating texts and Damage Log entries now display actual damage taken (takes armor reduction into account).
      • Damage log now omits any damage taken during spawn protection (because it doesn't reduce health anyway).
      • Damage log now displays damage taken during the current round (For example no longer displays damage taken on previous duel round).
    • Multiboard now omits lives if life limit is not set.
    • The knockback system no longer generates dust on very low velocities. Looks smoother, cleaner and more natural!
    • Creep unit tinting colors adjusted for a more natural look.
    • Tavern terrain adjusted
    • The water in aqueducts and fountains in the "Jade Throne" terrain has been remade to look more realistic.
    • During setting selection, the inventory now displays game mode description and is free from clutter seen in earlier versions.
    • Deathmatch mode now requires bot threshold 2, which means you cannot start a deathmatch round alone.
  • Balancing
    • Tumble ability range will now temporarily decrease upon spamming the ability. Very rapid spamming will cause the unit to stumble.
  • Bug fixes
    • Massive multiboard bug fixed.
      • The multiboards will no longer have random rows missing at random times.
    • Multiboard text stacking bug fixed.
      • Text will no longer appear stacked on itself in multiboards.
    • BattleZone area respawning fixed.
      • Players will no longer spawn outside boundaries.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the Damage Log to persist and replace the scoreboard after a round ends.
    • Fixed a possible fatal error from the combat systems.
    • Fixed game getting stuck if player leaves during duel.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Selecting deathmatch mode now automatically sets kill limit 15 if no other victory conditions have been set.

Again a massive update with improvements all around the map!

Version highlights:
  • A new smooth and shiny full-screen system has replaced the old clumsy spellbook-based setting selection system!
  • A brand new terrain area has been added for deathmatch and duel game modes!
  • Blood effects improved!
  • Damage Log now displays actual damage (counts armor)!
  • Tons of bug fixes and few terrain improvements!

Very complex (not my style) and fun menu. The system is superb. I dislike the slash spell which requires a target instead of just where the guy is facing.

But man this map has so much customization and options. Its like playing another game not a map.

You really put your time and skills into this one.
Also how did you remove all the commands from the unit so that only move and stop are there? I only know that you can remove rally and attack, but patrol and the such?

5/5 for the map and the systems

Patrol hasn't technically been removed, it has only been converted into a dummy ability (changed the icon and description in gameplay interface and triggered the ability)
Hold position got the same treatment.

So, I was thinking about something that would be cool to see if you implemented it. I play this game with my friends on WC3 at times, and I thought it would be really cool to have a team tournament mode, which would involve members of each team voting who to put forward for 1v1 duels. It would essentially be like the Duel mode already implemented except based on team round wins, rather than how that one is, and you would also have to have every member on your team go before a player could get voted in again. I suppose it may be kind of complex on the one hand, but it would be incredible to see. Sorry if it was a bit of a ramble and tangent to read...

amazing map... with some issues.

1)When player revives he has no mana and this is simply awful.

2)Players bug and become invincible. This is pretty much game-breaking. And its not that rare to happen.

Sad that its not being developed and its not open source either.

it's been a while since i've played this. played this with some random guy and he got salty as fuck, but it made me remember how fun this map was tbh

still looking forward to this map being updated, even if it never happens ever

i think my only issue with this game is how retarded consecutive lunges can be. i really don't think you should be able to cover such a long area in such a short period of time by spamming the living fuck out of W; it should be restricted in the same way that tumble is, i.e. distance covered is reduced the more you spam it. also, it just looks rly dumb watching someone fly across the map lmao

also base capturing is glitched in battle zone (or w/e it's called), weird
