My reason to was a WC3 roleplaying issue (ingame roleplay, not that shitty forumroleplay) and then a Roleplay creations thread (still active).

So tell me forum, what was your reason?

I downloaded models and I thougth "hmm, this place seems nice!" so I registered.

I joined to get Callahan's models from him. This was back when he would not submit them.
I then learned how to model for WC3 from Mechanical man.
Then I tried to convert Werewulf. (aka Kimberly)
Then I made some really crappy models.
Then I made some decent models.
Then I deleted the really crappy models.
Then I made a few more quite nice models.
Then I got an award.
Then I quit making models.
Then I made quite a few people mad at me.
Then I made a good bye thread. (Irony ftw.)
Then I lost my reward.
Then I got a different award.
Then I made a tutorial.
Then I posted a really long pointless comment on one of TBD's threads.

LIKE A BOSS

Funny thing is, I'd been downloading models since wc3sear.ch. I then saw the art gallery with Callahan's models, so I joined. lol.

Since then, I've waisted countless hours posting stupid comments like this one.

Noice.

I signed up back in 2004, when it was still wc3sear.ch, to be able to submit and comment on, mainly, skins/textures. I guess that makes me one of the older members still around.

I was browsing on some shitty forum (DotA forum, back then I was a dotard), then was reading some threads on the off-topic. One of the posts links to wc3sear.ch. Clicked it, then boom.

I forgot the old notice when you enter wc3sear.ch, it was like "Page is not available" or something.

Then googled this wc3sear.ch, and I happen to see this HiveWorkshop that get me interested. But not that very active though, because I continued being a dotard. Until March 2009 when I got bored playing it, decided to find some interesting site in my list (yes, I have a small notebook which I put the sites I joined), and voila.

I remember some of my friends who played Warcraft III also told me about it now and then, but I didn't really think of it much at first. Well, I started to join a forum called Gwydia (Which moved to Salazaria, then split to wc3haven, wc3diplo and gamercraft), that's when I saw this link in a Signature saying "Click Me", so I did and here I am(:

''Oh look yet another useless forum''
*register - profile activation email goes to trashmail and instantly forget password*
''Oh shi-''

*1 year later*
''Meh ima try this...''

And now im here.

Reason?
To check people's profiles :D

Porn Porn Porn what else?Nah just kidding, I played a map called parasite 2 and in the loading screen it had www.hiveworkshop.com and i was like eh... When i got here i started to dl models and stuff, after awhile i finally registered, but i was inactive for awhile cause i unistalled my war3 then i bothered to reinstall it a few months later then i remembered this site and bam here i am!

This is the hive, do I need a reason? Actually I registered on wc3sear.ch and then I got moved here afterwards :D
Signed up on wc3sear.ch mainly to look at spells, this was before I started making my own.

I joined WC3Sear.ch for reasons unknown.

I joined the Hive because I wanted to respond to HealingPoison saying something rather nice about a map of mine.

Both before the merge; which site do you mean, sweet Bossy? Or do I not count because I came too early (that's what your mum said)?

I wanted to join a project and help with triggers and stuff.
Then it got cancelled.
Then I started learning anyway.
Then I submitted a horrible, leaky, GUI spell that got rejected.
Then I sumitted 2 more, both rejected but still better.
Then I learned JASS, and got rejected.
Then I learned more JASS, and got a 2/5
Then I learned Vjass and didn't do anything with it of intrest.
Now I just post in off-topic like a burnt-out troll. But I still help every now and then.

I joined here because of a clip I saw on Youtube. I was so bored by the normal skins of the units in WE, so I typed in Youtube how to import custom skins to the World Editor, and found this clip:
He typed in Hiveworkshop.com, so i was curious about it... Then I was thinking, why not register there and learn a thing or two.

I was absolutely fascinated about self-made spells I saw in youtube, luckily, one video had a link to HWS. I lingered on HWS for so long, especially in the spell section. I downloaded just one spell after the other to see all the entertaining stuff. Then I tried to handle the Trigger-Editor a bit ... I became better each day, I started to know more and more about the editor, nearly everything. Then the vJass stuff came ... well then, it was hard, but I started to learn it. Then I started to make spells with it ... and all in all ... I started to become bored of it. Yep. The last mentioned attitude still remains. :o

Probably getting somewhere on a page that requires me to register on wc3sear.ch

Then wc3sear.ch merged with hiveworkshop.com and i somehow started posting things for the lulz.

Oh and i also got like -20 rep once but i didn't get banned because i'm not one of those banned trend hippies =p

OH I REMEMBER NOW!
It was because I wanted to comment and PM "Ikx_1" who made "Node wars" or whatever xD

I registered to ask for help and request some models, and ofc be part of the site considering how many knowledgeable ppl there were. And this is the long story, I already posted it in sc2 forum and it also explains why me and not me

I can definitely call myself a 'mission creator', cause I've done maps on War2, SC1 and Broodwar (even in internet cafe ppl have watched me making a map lol, not that much of a map),Empire Earth, War3, now Sc2. Missions creator because I only do futuristic maps since 2006 and are sort of missions - in war3, and sc2 is now perfect for that.

However, I am a casual maker and prefer not to be called a mapmaker. That means, I do things from time to time, for fun or seriously, not really creating some projects to be played by all with huge teams etc etc.

In fact, whatever maps I do as 'missions' is simply for myself to run my own storyline. It is just for me and I don't make public maps, not to say projects (however, I will release 2 melee maps or rather host on Bnet 2.0). This explains why you dont see maps of me, models, textures (I did have some road tileset but they created better so I deleted mine).

For models, I can do models from scratch since all is directed at futuristic maps, you get the idea. However, considering I'm not an artist/modeler etc I dont do my own textures and ofc dont worry I dont use any user's textures. However, I would for example use game textures for the Buildings that I have to recreate from Empire Earth I simply because I am not like the mapmakers and dont care about such things. It's offline, I dont share them with anyone, so all is good.

I'm specialized in making future/modern Building models and similar units like satellites, devices etc, again that don't require complex animations such as walking creatures, etc. However, it was more to see how much it takes. It takes so much time that I barely make the things that I need myself, not to say do a model request for someone.. So I was in THW to get help and offer help from time to time.

Above all I am a 1v1 Player - in War3 now in SC2. Yes, I have played lots of tournaments in war3, now in sc2. I am not a pro player let say 'starting to get good'. If I were a pro player, what would I be doing at THW? My mates would just laugh at me (hah they would do even if they knew im here) :P

Mapmaking is great and you do amazing job, I see great work, but it takes so much time, that I see it only as you have to be a kid to use so much time on that, I'm growing and cannot afford so much time on mapmaking, that's why mine is casual.

If I had to choose only 1 and release the other, I would definitely choose to be the player, not the mapmaker.

I had been lurking on this site for a while for resources, but I started helping out another user with a mapping project and he asked me to register here. I don't know how that project ended up, but that;s how I got here. :P
