What hasn't been done yet in wc3?

Street fighter-type game, where you can press hotkeys and shit to make combos. Seriously, this would be easy to make if you could animate well!

Well you control your character via mouse click and it's more of a hack and slash, but Callahans heroes of Genesia is sort of similar (it does have combos in it).

An ORPG!

Whoa, oh-no, my bad, t's been done. Whoa whatta mistake lol

But, no, srsly, an online jam mixes map. Click a peon to select a peon sound (ex. "Work Work!"), cut it (ex. "Work Wo-Wo-Work Work!), and loop it!!! (ex. "Work Work Wo-Wo-Work Work Work Work Wo-Wo-Work etc. etc.) .

Mix sounds together:
"and Work-Work and cut a tomato |
and Work-Work and Fu-Fu-Fury of the Warsong!!!"

Okay, it's possible, and not hard. The biggest issue would be the user interface. How exactly do you make the UI for cutting the samples? By "cutting" I mean storing two reals in a hashtable; one telling wc3 from when to play, the other telling wc3 when to stop playing; and there you have a sample cutout from an ingame sound.

Okay medium. At least it's easy in theory. I didn't say making it would be a good idea. It could even be made in GUI, but I doubt that it would be a very satisfying map. But all the functions are there for pausing, resuming, playing from offset, etc. It's all you need to make a primitive cut-and-arrange-samples program. But anyway, just a simple map where you can click units to play sounds for all players and set an interval for looping these sounds. Shouldn't be hard.

Wc3 sounds sucks, trust me, i'm working with it.

And i don't think WarManta keep track of this thread anymore haha
Although it's an intersting thread and other people can get ideas here. Should be a sticky.
Someone (can be me, but probably a mod) could create the sticky and mantain/update the first post with the best ideas.

Think that's a good idea. This becomes a sport, and it's a very good place to dig in when you're lost and looking for something rare.

Think of a Star Wars strategy game, but with a cool feature; Being able to zoom out of the planets and actually see them, with music playing in the background. You would then be able to send out huge armies of ships n' stuff. BattleFront 2 anyone?

Check out, I believe it's called Galactic Domination - it has the whole zoom in and out on planets thing - it's really quite impressive, especially the first time you zoom out from you planet to find a very (relatively) smooth transition to space. The only problem is that it becomes a lag fest late game when there are huge masses of units all over the game from individual planets to space (becomes a pain just to leave the game because of the huge fps drop).

Oh, so there is other maps than solar conquest with this feature. Where can I find it?

I don't think anyone bothered making a Public Service Announcement map about Global Warming with Al Gore as the main character...

and maybe, an RPG with world map system :D :D

Working on one of those right now, actually. Thing about that is that it has to be a Campaign. Isn't really possible Online. I mean...you could make a VERY VERY small one for multiplayer that would fit on one map, I suppose, but there's no real fun in that, right? :P

What hasn't been done? Hmm... Well, the battle system I'm trying to have made for my campaign ;)

I know pathing blockers stack, invisible platforms may behave similarly
Well what does this entail?
Give it a block model that's visible in game and you may be able to create a land scape of blocks like mine craft.

Now setting up the collision for that would be a pain, maybe try counting the amount of blocks in a very small area, only enough for 1 space, and compare it to the amount of blocks under the player.

Mouse aiming is near impossible (unless you use reinventing the craft - which hard to use and only works if the player also has it) so perhaps just make a spell that destroys blocks, or make them clickable and have them destroyed when the player clicks them.

It'd be a bit crude, but there's the possibility that it may work

What hasn't been yet is a really cool warcraft lored strategy map that starts you off in the troll wars (or first war) and advances you through the ages, changing your nation, technology and heroes as they die and things change. That would be sick :()

How about a "spy game"?
main goal is to assassinate the opposing team leader (leader should be an npc)

-the setting should be on a city style map. with tons of civilian npcs.
the two rival team's palace/keep should be on the opposing side of the map.

-each player should infiltrate the opponents palace/keep undetected. and at the same
time should be conscious on its surrounding.

-must have some mini missions(quest) where the two team can collide with each
other (ex. an escort mission for the team1 and assassination for the team2). winning
a mission will reward the team (or a single player) an item or currency that can help
you do the main goal of the game.

-the player must be subtle. we can also add spy gadgets and items.

If there's anyone wants to create this kind of map, just pm me. i have a full concept for it. ^ ^

i think i know enough lore to try to start one of these but i doubt i would finish even the closing cinematic for the first map.

That would be a very long ass campaign that is for sure.
We talking every piece of Warcraft Lore out there?

A good game using the editor to its fullest.

1.
My idea for something like that would be a multi map
ORPG with story and everything (sorta like a campaign but for more than 1 player and only heroes)
Save/Load system
Max Level of 100
It containing of 10+ maps (drag the story to the fullest)
Have a ton of choices effecting your class, skills and ending
Every map being 4mb or just under.

2. Max size map shrink it down to smaller sizes to fit as much possible on the map. Make it a campaign roughly 500MB is size if not longer. Full custom everything. Only thing from the editor used would be the terrain, doodas and that though all custom. Using Jass instead of GUI

been done. A campaign, I can't think of the name atm, it's on my desktop back at home.

Dammit. Uh... Minesweeper?
It has been done

Would be awesome if someone creates A REAL TURNED based multiplayer like Heroes of Might and Magic map for wc3. Noone had the balls to make it. It's just some bogus maps which isn't turn based. It would be still awesome to make it turnbased map with creatures and a combat field system.

I though of making it, but I'm very lazy to start maps from scratch from I have to knowledge on how to make it.... But then I have to dump Cruiser Command for a time...

there is a similar project that no longer works since 2.4 and the maker said he was going to continue it on sc2.

You are talking a lot of trackables.

Well, there is a sidescrolling maze that is really fun. Mario wouldn't be far off from that. would just need the models, really.

I don't think I've seen a game that uses a kind of evolving system where if you use a certain weapon on enemies they gain immunity to it over time.

That would be cool and add an element of strategy to the game so that players dont always go for the biggest guns
