What hasn't been done yet in wc3?

I dunno, a horror map that is actually SCARY?

Only scary thing i ever saw made in wc3 was something with an acolyte in a graveyard with trippy filters and a scare
effect >.<

But well... i'm already secretly looking into that so good luck =p

...

How about a battlefield game where you can really caputure points, aim with a shooting ability, drive tanks and other vehicles with the mousebuttons etc.

An AOS in reverse: You control the spawns and must distribute them to aid the computer heroes. You get 24 units to use, default 8 per lane, but if your bottom lane is not doing well, you send 10 there and 7 to the others. You may have to modify some things to make it more fun for the players.

Pinball is a really great idea.

Try making a game where wasd move your character but your mouse control the character facing. If that's not impossible :ar:

Gosh, i never seen it, there's a Wc3 Fighting Game??? If not, you should make it ;p

WASD movement isn't possible as you can't detect if the player is holding down those keys - though keyboard movement is possible (atm I have a keyboard controlled single player (well sp atm, may add multi later) hack and slash style game project for the Hack and Slash contest at Hordestudio).

Someone did upload a map sort of like mortal combat recently too, so a fighter is possible.

try pinball

Hehe, I tried making pinball when I was a nub at triggering, it didn't turn out too well though it should be entirely possible.

Things that are impossible... Do they really exist?
Make a map with World Editor's full potential. The FULL potential. Or : Make a FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood-like map? :D
(If you never watched that, I recommend you do so. Only 64 episodes. It's an anime.)

Make a FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood-like map? :D

I fail to see how connecting an anime to warcraft uses the WE's full potential - and I'm sure someone has made a FMA map before - though unfortunately most anime maps end up being terrible because the people most willing to make them usually don't have much skill in coding, or have very very very bad ideas in execution.

Also determining exactly what the WE's full potential is is pretty difficult - many restrictions exist mainly with the coder's skill - many maps people consider impossible have been done, just haven't gone mainstream on bnet - or are hard to host on bnet as you need a good connection to play it well - like Warcraft Grand Prix, Soldiers, there's been a few FPS maps, Combat Zone (Battlefield in Wc3 with both land and air vehicles (air vehicles have machine guns, lock on missiles and are capable of flying in all axises - Helicopters behave differently then Planes too), etc. etc.

How about an underwater map? Though that might come too close to the flight map I mentioned (unless there's some way to keep flying height constant...).

Hmmm I don't think I've ever seen a submarine warfare map

Again, another one who thought wrong. Make a map using WE's full potential OR that. ;)
And, there's a map with FMA? Can you tell me the name or something? I looked on Hive, epicwar, wc3c... Didn't find any.
EDIT: One of the good maps out there, TcX Quake Arena or don't know what. That map is really awesome. But I still think it may be improved - Still doesn't use the REAL potential. ;) Something perfect.
And yes, many great maps aren't known at all. One of them is, as you said, Azeroth Grand Prix.

^ The guy above made a link to a frankly awesome one. It's an AoS with a submerging system, which makes me wonder if a 3-level system might be possible (Surface, Underwater and Seafloor)... I would really like to see an RPG (or dare I say it, campaign) with that...

I don't opened the map with the WE, but my guess is the submerging system works with unit flying heights and animations (alternate for the swiming anims).
So, even if in water wars it don't used height and anims, a 3-level system would be totally possible.

Fable - lost chapters has never been done as far as I can tell :P

Lost Chapters?

^ Actually, what it does is have the map split in two separate halves, one with water and one without, and the second has all the SFX used for creating the "underwater" atmosphere (Nighttime, blue fog, lots of underwater doodads...), using a simple trigger for the submerge/surface system. The islands on the surface map correspond to the mountains of the second.

Thus, taking the idea further, you could have a three-part map with the surface, underwater (using swim animations), and the seafloor or very deep rifts.

Gosh, i never seen it, there's a Wc3 Fighting Game??? If not, you should make it ;p

has been done, the mapname is Slashcraft or something...

and if he wants to implement combo system , its easy, as it has been done too...

well, actually i got a suggestion for what hasn't been done..

Changing the Font type of Floating text

Using image as floating text, with text inside that can vary

Playing a "Video/Movie" in game.

Spells that uses unit's flying height to check if they will hit.

Chrono sphere that Pauses all Missiles , and spells for the Effect Duration, when the effect duration finishes, it resumes, and start moving again to the target.

Btw, Fps that uses Mouse to control has been done...when you move your mouse, it moves to the direction it moves, try check out Blademaster mode or something.

-----Edit Addition-------

One more, Sticking a unit on a unit, if you could, please post it here, i wanted to see :D
so that i can stick a rifleman on my tank :D

I seriously doubt no one hasn't done this - but most likely not in a multiplayer game

Chrono sphere that Pauses all Missiles , and spells for the Effect Duration, when the effect duration finishes, it resumes, and start moving again to the target.

It's possible and most likely done - there's also many more interesting ways to mess with time - like the recently uploaded Retro system (I think it's under Jass and not the spell section) which allows you to pulls any amount of units any amount of time backwards in time (of course not before the map starts though) saving all information like health, mana, orders, etc. etc.

You mean like a model or something? Well in game you could just constantly move the rifleman to the position of the tank, set it's facing to the enemies and then trigger it's attacks.

a movie on a map O_o... i never thought it could be done...

well, about the sticking unit on unit, could you show it in trigger how its done?
i have been looking for it for so long lol...is there a map on it? GUI please...

BTW, the retro system, i have seen it, it can't pull back missiles or magics lol..just unit and its status..

There's a trigger - "Play Movie" - so yeah, I'm sure it's possible - though movie files are huge so...

Well if you triggered a custom projectile movement, most likely - but normal spells - no, you have to think what's feasible.

I really don't feel like making up some triggers right now - just go ask for help in the WE help section.

Actually, i just tried opening it, and the map is protected (nice, i lost 7 mins of modifications on my map cause this crashed my map FUCK LOL). Also, don't thik the map was split in two.

My guess here is just created a map with a default init high height and water. Then he used lower so the bottom of the water is deep enough so you can use a game camera to see under it. Then he used a game of cameras for seeing top and bottom of the ocean. Sounsd hard, but it's not.

Well, i think he meant adding something like attaching a unit to another unit attachment point lol Like attaching a rifleman to the overhead of a Siege Engine, where the rifleman would act EXACTLY as an unit, but would move with the engine like it was really on top of it. I've not seen it that way and what would be great. I think it would be possible considering you can manipulate unit's flying height, you could move the unit to the engine position every 0.04 seconds and etc. Also, i think it will be as normal as adding a sword attachment in the galaxy editor.

No - he used 2 terrain areas - 1 above water and one under it
He somehow locked the minimap so you'd only see 1 of them on it at a time.

It's possibly in wc3 - though in Sc2 it's much easier and built into the games editor I believe.

It's possible something like "Unit - attach (picked unit) to left hand of (casting unit)"? Well, there's no such thing in GUI, and as far as i know, in Jass either (not that i'm very good at jass ;p). I know crap about vJass, but if that's possible i might consider reading about it ;p

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a huge pain to do, but theoretically it seems possible

Where is the trigger "Play Movie"? I just opened WE and did a search, but it's not there =/

Hmmmm I know for sure there was one in there at one point, maybe they removed it because it wasn't used?

Well still - I played a Rick Roll map before that not only locked the player in the game (I was actually helping test it - it was before the creator wtf locked you in and prevented you from normal methods of exit) but played the iconic music video for the players frustration.

How bout an rpg where you are an angel which can switch between flying (brings you to a cloud world) and the pesky humans or you having a giant floating city that moves. :) just some ideas

a game with 2 screens lol! (2 cameras panning diffrent units) (Divides screen into half)

1 screen shows a hero,

the other shows the other hero.

if this could be done, give me the map !! xD
i wanted to see how that goes, and how is it done.

and maybe, an RPG with world map system :D :D

Everything here you guys have said can be done, tho some of it would require external use of programs and not just wc3 itself.

I would make all of these great idea's, I just don't want too since I have before and it just doesn't interest me.

Har de har de har

a game with 2 screens lol! (2 cameras panning diffrent units) (Divides screen into half)

I don't think that's actually possible with the wc3 engine.

Stronghold kingdoms! but there requires a concept maker (like someone in the alpha or beta mattering on when the project is started, like me :D) oh there seems to be a game similar, but not the same. and i've been encouraged (by a friend) to start up a project like shk, being the concept maker i got alot down on a notepad to implement into the game, so dont steal my ideas! t.y :)

I haven't seen
...a block step rpg yet like the old adventure rpgs Lands of Lore, Anvil of Dawn, Stonekeep...
...a proper adaption of Dungeon Keeper yet.
...any adaption of Theme Hospital or Lemmings yet.
...a jump&run rpg like Little Big Adventure yet. Actually, most rpgs were only about normal fighting and some about riddles but always using the normal Wc3 designs.
...too much innovation yet.
...much alternation of a genre yet. Almost all maps maintain a base genre and do not mix it with other stuff.

I have also thought about how something like this could be made:
Basically, multiple floors/levels actually on top of each other and not in different parts of the map, using clever use of invisible platforms, hide doodads, and such. It could be used for a topdown-view game OR an FPS. Think about how cool it would be having a dungeon that's actually beneath a town - no unit movement to weird places on the map involved. But not worth the trouble, I decided for myself.
