What about Warcraft IV?

Newest Warcraft 4 is coming, but what about Warcraft 3, Warcraft 4 that will be an improved version of warcraft 3 with more strategies and game modes, or be like the famous WoW, and if it is as famous WoW, as will be our World Editor?Tell your ideas, sorry for bad spelling.

Warcraft 4 is a long long long way away. Pointless even thinking about it.

What I can tell you though is it is more than 90% likly it will use an upgraded StarCraft II game engine if released this decade. Obviously we can expect things like full DX11 gaphics, better terrain engine and probably an enhanced scripting language over SC2. It is very likly the same data engine SC2 uses will be used in WC4 or atleast something extreemly simlar.

Well, I honestly don't think there will be a Warcraft IV. I mean, it seems pretty obvious to me that there won't be one. They already have World of Warcraft and they have come out with a few expansion packs too. And plus, World of Warcraft takes place after the Warcraft III Campaigns. That pretty much proves it right there.

It really would be awesome if they did come out with a Warcraft IV, like with a lot better graphics and some of the units had really cool abilities by default without anyone having to do any complicated triggering for it, like a knockback attack.

So that pretty much sums up my ideas.

It will take place after WoW most likly, probably continuing its story from the end of the final expansion (2-3 expansions remain it is said).

Stuff is even more complicated for all you people who are not studying computer science as they improved the logic on how the game works at the cost of making it increadbly complex for people who do not understand databases. Play StarCraft II as WarCraft IV will likly use features from it (like SC2 did from WC3). Like I said, graphics will most likly be DX11.

Don't worry guys, Blizzard already mentioned in some emails my friend asked, they are working on many stuff for the community (of all their games) and it's expected to be great. Also, they'll be updating Warcraft III constantly to ensure that it stays in place. Expect a lot more people to come to Hive some time after(:

Blizzard can lie, too.

Now see, I'm sure that firstly all SC2 expansions will get released, then it will take them about as much time as it was between SC/WC3 or WC3/SC2... just my theory... and they have to finish WoW, too... and that Titan project, don't forget about the Titan! It may be WoW2, and it will be so, we'll never see a Warcraft RTS in our life!

Now that's exactly what I meant when I said Blizzard was awesome. With multiple profits coming in, they'd definitely be upgrading their other games.
I doubt they'd lie as one of the friends asking is planning to join Blizzard after he gets his certificate.

As long as it is profitable, yes, but don't expect Blizzard to embark on things whose debt is greater than the profit, because they just won't; they're a private company, their objective is to get cash.

P.S.
And like I've wrote multiple times, StarCraft was released in 1998, Wc3:RoC in 2002, that's a four year distance on a period in which WoW was not even out yet. And they're working on Diablo III as well now. Don't expect Wc4 so soon.

At least we do know one thing - Blizzard can definitely create extremely addictive games whatever the game genre.

Warcraft IV is way too far bro, hold your horses while you are it :D

anyways if it will come into play, I bet they'll add mostly all of the storyline of warcraft [if its possible] like how the titans made the world, how the lich king became a bad-ass orc lord, and just everything :D

Oh, and definitely a new editor to top off the Galaxy and win the market once again, I smell some feature which allows it to link to Warcraft III to play both the new maps and the Warcraft III maps, this way, players can buy that and play their good old maps at the same time!
Anyways, Warcraft III is still quite popular, just yesterday, 9 people just bought the game.

Well I'm only 13 so I can wait, but I hope Warcraft IV comes soon because I want to see the New WE. Warcraft has a great potential just check how Blizzard sucked the money outta WoW, it's like milking a cow. I'm just sad cuase of the maps that will be lost, and I will need to wait a long time untill they be ready for Warcraft IV

at least you have lots of time to practice your mapping skills...

Heh, who knows, even before Warcraft IV comes out maybe a player good enough will make a legal mod of Warcraft III that somehow has another World Editor of its own and all the stuff a Warcraft RTS should have, but better.
I've seen it happen some in places before.

That is impossible.
1. Any modding of the actual game code is illegal
2. The game code is dated and is the actual thing that would need to me altered.

Still does not stop people from making a Warcraft 3.5 map on SC2. The SC2 engine for the most part can do everything WC3 can but better.

Heh, we could always hope that Blizzard would meet our pleas and upgrade it too(:
Anything is possible if they allow it!

They have, they have released SC2. SC2 can do a lot of things that WC3 could not.

Shooting while moving, units as amunition, spells that block all missles, damage that is reliable, modifying unit damage, stacking auras, 3 or more attacks, changing unit graphics on demand, triggers that do not leak....

Those are some of what SC2 can do. It also has a lot of WC3 support like hero abilities and leveling up.

I doubt that they will develop any new warcraft game since they make more money on WoW. If they however would make a new warcraft game it would most likely be of something that happend in the past and then I'd tink they would rather make a novella about it since it's way more easier.

WoW would get finished in about 3 more expansions... so that might mean no further good updates which will evetually kill it...

How odd wasent that the same thing people said in vanilla (pre-TBC) but still look where we are. 3rd expansion and more popular then ever :P

I still believe people will get tired of it soon enough, that even patches will not get the players back...

and even if they are continuing WoW, not the whole Blizzard people are on WoW... that's why they have development teams... so once one of those teams become available, creating a new game would not be far-off...

If they made another WC3 Expansion to tide us over, they would make loads of money with it, I guarantee you. I would certainly buy it, and loads of other WC3 players I know would to. It's pretty ridiculous that only 1 expansion was ever released for it, and remarkable how amazing the game is to have kept going strong this long given that fact.

And if they could add a new editor to that expansion, with the fact that it can load maps from the others and have some new programming language being used too would just make it better. That way we could choose between two languages and two editors to make maps(:

Warcraft IV will be many many years away from us because of the expansions they are going to bring out for all their new games, and hell they could even stretch out to a different genre before thinking about the game.
I give it 5-10+ years.

Warcraft III maps are still good to play though, so whether it's coming soon or not, I wouldn't mind as long as Warcraft III is around(:

Yea but that's just because of the pric, now you see only WIII players not WII players...
yes but Wc3 has alot more functions and extremely more variety and also uses 3d models and is just way more powerful and fun to play on whiles Wc2 has way less limitations and is like playing a paper board game o_O. Oh Blizzard how I hope you release Wc4 as soon as possible.

They have released SC2 which is prety much WC3 with more functions. Yes the models might be different but you can do a lot in SC2.

Want a unit that shoots and moves? SC2 does that.
Want a hero unit like WC3? SC2 does that.
Want a unit that has 3 attacks? SC2 does that.
Want a unit which changes model? SC2 does that.
Want to change attack and maximum HP via triggers? SC2 does that.

Well yeah. I mean, as I recall there already some people planing on making SC2 total conversions to Warcraft, pretty sure that after two-three years we'll have one of these.
And yes, SC2 has so much better stuff to offer. I mean, you can easily make a TPS like GTA or RPG like WoW, with all the custom interfaces and stuff, with just knowledge of data and trriger editor!

Exactly, upon opening the editor I took a quick look, tried some things, and closed it. What a mess, lol, it may have more power but it's no where near as easy to use and make resources for as the WE. Now if I did that, and I consider myself pretty knowledgable on these things, I can only imagine what the average player did. It won't ever enjoy the same success as WC3, and plus the Warcraft franchise is just better imo. I'll be waiting for WC4 no matter how long it takes. :)

I agree with you NightElf125,
Regardless of Starcraft II and some other games, I guess I'll be staying as a Warcraft III fan though, it seems that it won me over with the classics and priceless franchise. Who knows, Blizzard could always make something awesome out of it.
Especially since the market is ever growing, Blizzard would have to constantly think of games to outwit their previous games so more people would get the purchases rolling, so Warcraft IV is indeed a possibly in the future.
