Introduction

UBER AoS (or just "UBER") is a project that began back in 2005. Since the beginning, its unique cast of characters and blend of clashing universes have made it something like our own version of Super Smash Brothers. It is a very large game, with choice and possibilities at the core of its design philosophy.

Like any Aeon of Strife, all players command a hero and must coordinate to destroy the enemy faction's base whilst protecting their own. Unlike most AoS, towers and troops should be approached with caution until mid game.

At the beginning, players will vote for a mode and game length of either 60 or 90 minutes. When the timer runs out, the Apocalypse begins in order to forcibly end the conflict.

It's up to you to play your best tactics and strategy. Construct towers, lay siege to the enemy fortress and stake your claim over the land of Ontolia...before the Apocalypse takes it away from everyone.​

April 5 2017 - Beta Begins!

I've finally decided to release this thing for public beta testing!

A notice for all modders - I'm looking out for someone who would be willing to help me work on this project in some capacity. UBER is too large for me to handle alone.

PM me if you've got a creative mind, love game design and are interested!

Core Features & Mechanics

  • 5 Modes - Classic Mode, Hard Mode, Classic + 3D, Fortress Mode, Search for the Grail
  • 56 Heroes - 26 Alliance, 26 Scourge, 4 Neutral
  • Lumber - Secondary resource. Used for purchasing towers and certain upgrades
  • Honor - Tertiary resource. Obtained by killing enemy heroes, used in item merging
  • Towers - From Healing Towers to Siege Towers to Tesla Coils!
  • Materia - Materia offer a vast array of additional spellcasting options to all hero types
  • Class Items - Each hero can purchase an item specially made for them
  • Tower Capping - If the faction towers out on the map are destroyed, they can be rebuilt/recaptured by either team, awarding honor to participating heroes
Other Features

  • Legendary Items - Rare, powerful armaments of war that provide unique bonuses unlike any other items in the game. An ominous sound is played across the map if a legendary item drops

  • Mercenaries - Purchased at your faction's Keep or Demon Gate for lumber. Mercenaries are additional faction-controlled troops, produced on a path of your choosing. You can choose either to reinforce your melee or ranged fighters, or add unique spellcaster mercenaries to the fray

  • Cannon Towers - Both factions have a limited number of Cannon Towers. Each has a powerful damage reflector vs. melee, and can never be rebuilt. They deal medium splash damage, and are well-known for exceptional threat generation and their long range. When kept alive, they can buy precious time for reinforcements

  • Captains - With each spawn of faction troops, one random path is accompanied by a Captain - either a warrior- or machine-type. Warrior-types will cast spells, whereas machine-types have long-range splash damage. All captains speed up and slowly heal nearby friendly units, and drop items when killed by enemy players

  • Uber Monsters - Every 10 minutes, both factions spawn an Uber Monster on a random path. They are heavily armored and can turn the tide of battle. Uber Monsters drop items when killed by an enemy player

  • Chaos Assaults - "The Chaos" hordes will attack the bottom path randomly throughout the game. This can be a great source of cash, experience and items, but do not underestimate them - they are dangerous in numbers

  • Apocalypse - If neither team has won after 60/90 minutes, the Apocalypse begins, creating a sudden death event with increasingly large hordes of chaos attacking in all directions

  • Computer AI - Selecting Easy, Normal or Insane difficulties will determine how many total items the AI will receive. AI also choose one of many item builds at the start of each game that are well-suited to their characters

  • Uber Dragon - A powerful entity that cannot be defeated until late game. If killed, it drops a powerful tower, and rewards your entire team with money
Modes

  • Classic Mode - The most common mode for gameplay - there are no special rules in effect

  • Hard Mode - Heroes lose -1 level on death, resulting in the loss of a random ability rank. Respawn time is increased by 50%
-
  • Classic + 3D - Players immerse themselves with arrow keys and a third person view, which can be edited at the Control Panel in town. Faction Towers have more health but initially deal less damage. Heroes also start with bonus health and Uber Monsters have less armor
-
  • Fortress Mode - Faction Towers are much stronger. Both factions start with placeable towers, and players generate extra lumber. Towers cannot be captured on this mode, and are replaced by neutral Watch Towers which grant extensive line of sight when controlled by a hero

  • Search for the Grail - Troops spawn at a reduced rate. Heroes start with a Shovel to dig for the Grail. Many sources of loot drop Ender Pearls and Eyes of Ender instead. Collect them to help locate the Grail, and capture it to win!
Shops

In addition to the shops in town, there are many other places of interest that are key to control throughout the game...

  • Goblin Merchants - Each faction has a neighboring goblin who sells potions, lumber and oddities

  • Materia Master - Two-part shop that can upgrade basic materia to greater materia, and sell other, more specialized materia types

  • Random Shop - Marketplace with random Merged and Unique items for sale. Merged items bought here do not cost honor, and unique items cannot be found anywhere else. Unique items are very cheap, and offer interesting mechanics early game. They can then be upgraded to their 2nd and 3rd level forms, which are far more powerful

  • Flower Shop - A goblin zeppelin with various powerups for sale. He roams the map in an oval encompassing all three paths

  • Tree Shop - Trades your lumber for various towers and repair droids
-
  • Riverboat Casino - Allows you to gamble for gold and lumber. Loose change can often be found scattered near the Casino Barge!

  • The Flying Sheep Shoppe - This wise sheep has a host of exotic and powerful items that cannot be bought elsewhere
-
  • Rune Tree - This tree does not sell items, but periodically spawns random powerups that can quickly affect the flow of combat. The amount of powerups that can accumulate at its base increases with game length
Item Rarities

Items are color coded relative to their power, obtainability and/or role. You will find a list of those rarities here...

  • Common - Most item types in the game appear in white

  • Class Items - Special items made for individual heroes appear in green. They cannot be used by other heroes

  • Towers & Mode-specific Items - Towers, as well as items unique to the current game mode all appear in vanilla

  • Merged Items - Items created through a rune recipe all appear in cyan. Most of them require honor in order to create

  • Unique Items - This rarity is only sold by the Random Shop. They appear in purple and can be upgraded to their level 2 and 3 forms to become stronger

  • Legendary Items - These artifacts appear in orange and in large treasure chests. They are extremely rare and offer game-changing affixes

Err... stupid lazy question: are the models using custom models? Those Cloud, Vincent, Anakin, and Batman are the most interesting for me. I would love it if all of them use custom models. I'll check it when I had free time. This map is seems like the map I really wanted to make XD

There are many customs among the lot! The end goal is everything should feel as though it belongs, without being custom to a fault.

I tested it for short time.
-the minimap color seems so dead. And hero icon on minimap is so confusing because the color got desaturated. (Yellow looks like brown, teal and green looks like dark green)
-the ability are too simple. I use Cloud, and the ability are like StormBolt and FlameStrike.
-Jinx model is too damn small. Actually all unit and building size are bad imo lol. Not really appealing to eyes.
-Master Chief with rocket as prjectile is a bad idea. changw it to something mpre normal.

Well, what i played is a public beta. I believe there are a lot of chanve now.

What do you mean the color is desaturated though? I've never seen that, it looks fine to me - I wasn't aware that was even something that could be changed.

Some heroes intentionally are easier to play, but I agree that Cloud's are definitely too simple. He needs to be much more awesome. I need to make a note about this and get some of his more badass limit breaks in there and redo him (he is not a character I made)

That's part of the fantasy of the character - he is from Super Mario RPG and is probably actually much smaller.

Well, I guess thats my monitor problem :p
It can be changed btw. Just replace the specific texture and it will change.
Edit: there are a lot of much more complex heroes to try, btw.

I dont know, its kinda funny to see the barracks are smaller than the units. Only my personal opinion.

Because he is equiped with an assault rifle. And with rocket projectile, the Frag Grenade ability feels like nothing.

Well yeah I agree lol that's kinda Wc3's fault a bit. They aren't bigger cause I wanted you to be able to pass through them, but unfortunately I probably need to reenable collision on them cause someone could be a douche and hide items in them hahaha.

If we had team-colored outlines of units behind obstacles, I'd be all for making buildings more life-size because that's what I prefer, but it is what it is!

I'll be honest with you I don't like his grenade anyway :D he is also not one of my heroes. The ones I made are generally the more deep ones. MC has been around maaaany years hehe. The rocket on him is awesome in my experience tho since it is free splash damage.
