Contest poll specifically stated that any of Diablo franchise characters are allowed, which means I, II, III and all the expansions included.
Why people hold grudge against D3 (me included too) is our own thing, but do not let that merge with your judging of things, and perception. What one chooses to draw is one's own choice, and if you're an idiot who's judging the person's choice rather than the person's work, you deserve nothing more than a high five in your face with a frying pan.
I personally might not like what they did to D3, but I'd do a Demon Huntress skin any day, if there wasn't a great one already done. D2 and D1 have only 50x50 pixels (and less) of characters to base your skins upon, where D3 has gone HQ, and therefore is a more logical choice.
D1/D2 skins will need to find a way to replicate a character in such a way, that it's detailed to fit in Wc3, but not standing away too much from references.
D3 skins will need to find a way to mimic appearances of a character, but to give it a fresh approach, and also something to make it unique from all the artworks out there.
That said, I hope you'll bring your arguments about D2/D3 choices over to your private messages. There were times to complain about the theme, which was both theme discussion and theme poll, and if you failed to reach out in time, you've got absolutely no right to rage in the contest itself. If you don't like it, wait for the next texturing contest, simple as that.
And on a side note, as last words, if I ever see one of you trying to talk someone out (passively subliminal or directly) of the contest just because you're a whiny little bitch with no actual things to do in life, you're going to face me. And THAT is going to hurt. A lot. I support constructive criticism, but being just straight offensive offends me and other people too.
Now. Back to the contest
I started to draw the face up, just to figure out the concept while I do so. Chances are very high that I'll change her skin tone to a more darker shade, to resemble that Indian ethnicity appearance. Oh and yes, it's a Diablo II Sorc.
