SupCom: Paradise (v21)

Supreme Commander is a Warcraft III map immitating the GamePlay of the original game Supreme Commander by THQ. To make the player feel the authenticity of such a great game, this map contains a very elaborated constant gravity based projectile system opening the possibilty of collision with terrain and shields, combined with a revolutional ressource system as seen in the original game. Besides that it creates the right ambience through the use of original game music and imported game sounds making the map a whole new experience of playing Warcraft III. It even contains details such as crashing planes which deal damage to nearby units when colliding with the ground depending on their size. Aside from the amazing game engine nearly every unit known from the original game is included in this map. Land, air and marine units of all 3 tech-levels and an addional tech 4 level for experimental units such as the monkeylord or galactic colossus. All unit data is based on the original game and most of the units even have scaled values of the original units.

I have seen people loving this map from the first moment when they had watched the intro, however, the complexity of the map sometimes overtaxes impatient players. My recommendation is to get into the game after playing once or twice, because then exciting battles will arise.

Post Scriptum: I made this exaggerated description for fun, however, except for the euphoria all of the content is true.

It would be nice to see some of you posting feedback on this map, as it is just in its developing stage and exists for about a month now. Anyway, I cannot guarantee I will continue working on this for long.

I liked it a lot, it was irritating at times dealing with resources though (part of the game).

I need mass so I can create things, but I don't need much of it, but to get it I need to spend it. Agony!

But like I said, it's part of the game. I had a great time with my friend, a couple mins ago we finished a game.

1v1, I took over all of the mass areas across the map, except for his one island, and he never knew.

I also had radar set up around everything so I could always counter him, it was great fun.

I highly recommend this map to people who like resource management.

The way you use resources to build and everything else is really beautiful.

I give it a 4/5

The only thing that keeps it from being a 5/5 is the terrain, it's very bland.

All in all, a great game.

I tried this map. It's a very good game. But...

Bugs
  • Commander is weaker than sub-commander. bug?
  • Tinkers can walk on water!
  • But there was a bug with support skill. You can't undo it, my commander did follow it everywhere and I couldn't stop it. Make stop command able to undo follow
  • I could kill a shield gen lv2 with 1 shot from lv3 artillery tank. Is that normal?

Suggestion
  • High level radar sucks all energy, i would prefer scout lv3 as my radar
  • The game isn't leaver friendly - Maube if team all his units goes under his team mates control? Except his commander
  • Add disinegrator and hide ability to commander? 1000 energy pr shot and 1000 energy pr second when going into cloak.
  • Add a alternative mode, where you can live even if your commander is dead, you only die when your last worker dies
  • Also anti nuke defense seemed to have short protection radius

radar, its like in the original game
leaver friendly, actually when one leaves all units are controlled by an ally of him...
hide, for a single unit this isnt useful, but i was thinking about a unit hiding nearby units
alternative mode, no, just be more careful, shouldnt be that hard
anti nukes range is in the tooltip, nothing wrong with that range

anyhow, i am updating all units values based on the original supreme commander values, will be different to play then

Shield gen had full hp! I doubt this is no bug. 1 Single attack destroys it. (ops, i meant i attacked my team mates sry)

Why is that tinker can walk on water no bug???? I don't understand :confused: It looks ridiculous if you ask me. Unless that's the purpose. (I never played Supreme Commander)


Teammates can go attack each other. Maybe make a stop trigger which prevent team commander assassination. I nuked my friend to death in my last game, cuz i can see all his units, while I cant see enemies, so it's much easier lol.

allied shields dont block your projectiles

its just how the game works...

doesnt force you to do that... and a stop trigger, lol... ^^ i could also deactivate friendly fire, stop wouldnt be the finest solution

but anyway, i want to have team attack in this map


Now i complety updated this map, the others are still old, but this one has a very improved engine and values

I really like it, but I found something that is either a bug, or needs to be changed for balance reasons.

I get how the mechanics can go across water, this is cool. But they can apparently build in water too.

I just was doing incredibly better than this player and he turtled me into my base by massing anti air and point defense towers around me and slowly pushed me onto my one beginning island.

I really don't think that the mechanics should be able to build towers or pretty much anything else out at sea.

It's kinda lame with no victory condition. Make a win when only 1 team remains, instead of a never ending game.

I played the ice map, i noticed the mass was very difficult to get surplus of. It's kinda easier to go air since they cost less mass.

New version uploaded, even if it still has the same version number etc... changes are:

- mass fabricator values are now mixed from forged alliance and the standard supcom
- nuke effect is updated a bit, and the damage circle grows over time, not damage to all units at the same time, but related to where they stand
- probably some smaller bug fixes i dont remember

Review : Hmmm... this map have a very bland with just palm tree. It could use a bit of improvement as the terrain ain't that impressive.

In addition, the game play seems to be annoying if a person doesn't know why their mass and energy depleting drastically. Probably because the lack of info regarding about it.

And the author surely neglect something at certain point, it could be seen clearly when there is 1-2 typo error and 1 hotkey malfunction.

Other then that, the map overall seems to be good. But, the terrain could kill the joy of the map. Recommend you to improve the terrain.

Another -7 point for this map.

Bug, (Possible with entire game engine)

The submarine's Torpedo's DO NOT explode on frigates. too many torpedo's launched causes a game crash.

I hope the system is improved, I hate to play with 2-3fps and 0.2 when the game is going hard :angry:

Advanced physics engine for weapons is kinda waste, unless you want to build weapons which counters it, well I guess it's very important for you shield generators in the map... And for hitting the ground when on different elevations... Missing...

Well, such weapon system could perhaps be a revolutionary change for BT. Imagine shield systems, and you can seek cover. Also allowing to focus fire :D... Point defense weapons to attack incoming projectiles

I already made such point defense based system against projectiles where i use phönix fire and other projectiles to work as point defense. 1 example is how laser towers work in missile wars. Also it work the same way with the shields...

This is probably the best enchance melee map I ever played, but I stick to BS and BT, due to unplayness and my shitty computer can't handle the map.

Engine 4 is finished and released.

- Esc no longer changes the camera distance
- Esc aborts unit production even without ressource supply
- Engine allows deep water
- Low-range units now move to enemies to attack them

i was wondering, is there any way to incorporate the way u shoot the bullets and stuff into a modern-esque map? Like the way the stuff doesn't hit the mark all the time? Because i saw this a while back and now i'm wanting to use this on my zombie survival map, and i just find that to be a highly realistic way of shooting things.

so you mean that i couldn't use it because that JASS is wired to those certain projectiles?
or the map won't let me....because i looked at it just to see what it was....some complex GUI or actual JASS....and it is unprotected.

It's a very nice map , but were are models of all this tanks , robots , ships and planes !?!?? I WANT MODELS FROM SUPREME COMMANDER !!!! ( better from supreme commander 2) =)
