I wouldn't say it's "down", just on permanent hold until some of the other projects we're working on get finished.

might its a good idea to public release this map, maybe somebody will continue it or at least some ppl can use the models.

Saidly that you close the projekt, it was very promising.

There's a difference between closed and not a priority. We'd prefer to finish Lordaeron: The Aftermath first before we continue working on Skyrim which is a much larger project with a lot more time being put into it. Terraining it is quite difficult as the resources are large and must fit within under 8MB. It's not as though we have no intention of finishing it, it's just going to be awhile longer before it's in a playable state.

Yep it's still an RTS, every faction will have its own event or quest to complete.

Oh I should have mentioned that Solitude will now be included afterall, they will start with war status to Windhelm whilst all other Great Holds of Skyrim will start neutral to eachother and can choose who they ally or war with.

However Holds will not be able to ally both Windhelm and Solitude so much choose who to side with in the rebellion.

Dragons obviously will start at war with everyone. There will be a player for the Dragon Priests and another player controlling Alduin and his Dovakin.

Dragons player starts with just Alduin, he must resurrect dragons at special dragon burial grounds located throughout the map.

Alduin can also awaken Dragon Priests to help his ally who initially only starts with one Dragon Priest.

For those who don;t know Dragon Priests are powerful Undead who in life served as Alduins worshipers and were the leaders of the Dragon Cult.

If Alduin or Dragon Priests gain control of all holds then they will have claimed lordship over Skyrim and win, though I expect the Nord players will have ragequit long before then lol

Well some Holds, like Dawnstar for example will be able to gain The Dark Brotherhood faction through a Quest or Upgrade. Similarly Solitude can gain the Thalmors.

Some factions will be available through upgrades, others through ingame events.

Players don't have to ally either Solitude or Windhelm though, they are free to ally whoever they choose.

You're not really straight forward in the first post on which factions will be achieved through upgrades, or I'm just blind and have completly missed it. But what other factions will be achieveble through upgrades like perhaps the thieves guild or the companions?

Oh i really need to update the original message, it's still saying there's 6 players, its actually 8 now.

I don't know whether the thieves guild will be in this, unit wise they are very similar to dark brotherhood (stealth specialized) and Riften definitely won't be in this.

Whiterun will start with companions as their elite unit choice. Whiteruns quest will be killing the Witches that cursed them in Glenmoril Coven and reforging the Wuuthrad.

wait but chaosy said you have reach the 8mb limit?... so how can it be played on LAN?

I squeezed the resources more so they can just about fit in, i also had to remove some cool Skyrim music which made me sad but had to be done so its playable on bnet.

Should make the Thieves' Guild more inclined to acquiring funds, via stealing them from enemies somehow. Whereas DB is just about killing with stealth.

Thats a good distinction, maybe we could have thieves guild units with the Pillage ability so they gain gold from attacking buildings, unless you can think of a more intelligent way of doing it via triggers?

I suppose thieves guild operate throughout the whole of skyrim so we don;t need Riften in the map to have TG.

DB are so well trained and deadly they will definitely have to be an elite unit choice.

I was considering allowing every player to "specialise" in one faction of their choice via an upgrade, sort of like a mastery. But the downside to this is that it's sort of quite a bland way of acquiring a faction unlike through ingame events.

Well you could make every hold into a region and for every thief that is within the city walls everytime they steal a bit of that holds income. Forcing the hostile holds too put out some sort of stealth detecting spells too be able to hold the thieves outside, these spells of course would have too come with a cost.

Both Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood units should have full invisibility, with one distinction, Dark Brotherhood Assassins shouldn't reveal themselves while attacking and Thieves should.

Yeah thats a good idea Razosh, we could have it so the DB gets gold per killed but only if they were killed a db member, sort of light collecting the bounty.

Players having money stolen from them by the TGs should get a message telling them X amount has been stolen from their hold, otherwise they won;t have a clue where their moneys going. This then gives them an opportunity to employ counter measures.

I agree about the full invisibility but I think perma invis for DB even when they attack might be abit much, remember they will be very powerful and elite units ingame. I think they should all be about getting the first strike, so they ahve to quickly assasinate their target then run away before their killed.

Heroes in Skyrim are non revivable and you only start with one so loosing your hero to the DB is a serious blow.DB are a cool faction but balancing them ingame will be very hard.

Thank you for being so supportive of my suggestion. :)

But I have too agree with Marshmalo on this, a permanent stealth seems kind of extreme. Not too mention how OP those units would actually be. The best thing you could do is create a stealth spell that can only be used when out of combat.

You can do it 3 ways.

Wind Walk - Temporary -> Critical Hit -> Gives opportunity to run away

Permanent w/ Attacking -> Forces you to employ detection

Permanent w/o Attacking -> Makes it easy as hell to stop

I think either permanent without attacking, with an ability, maybe called sprint, or smoke bombs (that slow enemies down), will be the only safe way for the DB assassin to do any damage. Now permanent invisibility, while attacking, I don't think would be that op, chances are you're going to have detection.

I'm looking at this from the point of view of a strategy game, for example, the game I usually play ranked is Starcraft 2, in SC2, there are Dark Templar for Protoss, permanently cloaked, extremely high dps, but low hp, they are super fast as well, which gives you, something of an opportunity to run away. If you don't have detection, you could take a lot of damage, but if you do, it could do no damage at all. This was my thinking, a unit similar to the DT.

Glad to see this project moving on.

Regarding thieves guild and stealing system, are you planning to include neutral NPCs? Like villagers roaming around and such, that way you could make thieves use autocast steal ability on them until they run out of mana.

The only problem is disguise system then, enemy troops could easily turn them into a pile of dust.

Well all villagers will belong to a "Hold" so none of them will be neutral, I think the idea of having thieves near capital buildings passively steal is a good one provided it can be triggered properly.

Well we can always try these things in the beta release and see whether they work and if not amend them later on down the line. Theres no way the game will be balanced in our first few releases so that's a period where we can experiment with the more extreme ideas like this :)

I think it would be even better if buildings had a "steal value". Some, like capital or merchant buildings would have it way higher, but probably also have better countermeasures.
That way thieves don't have only 1 place to passively steal per faction. Instead they could be anywhere, but the amount of gold lost depends on whether they are near anything valuable.

So for a thief guild it might even become very viable to spread around the map, so that you can steal in one area, then stop when authorities show up and then just steal somewhere else, without a clear pattern.

I would've loved to have been able to play as the Imperial Legion but I guess the current factions look cool. The scale of the map would need to be huge with the detail I'm seeing, what is it exactly? Or do you use JNGP?

Will you be using Azzy Wars techtrees or something more akin to 12 Kingdoms?

I really need to update the first post, this thread needs some love I have some more screenshots I will post soon aswel.

Solitude will actually be included now and obviously they will have access to imperial legion units.

Will you be using Azzy Wars techtrees or something more akin to 12 Kingdoms?

I have always been a huge fan of azzy wars, My Lordaeron the Aftermath is basically my tribute to azz wars. Dragon Wars will use a similar system to azz wars exept it will also feature iron ore as a resource.

Must admit I never liked 12 kingdoms that much.

@ Reaper: Players start off with a city and afew starting units, units are built in "Battalions" at each citys Bastion (Thats the tower as can be seen in Winterhold Screen shot). Each City has its own military Bastion, Forge, Capital, Warehouse, Siege Works and in some cases a Temple.

Citys can be destroyed and conquered, when a building is destroyed it turns into a ruin, this ruin can then be restored should the owner choose. Peasants canot build new buildings exept for Outposts and Mills so keeping your home city is important.

Resources are gold and Iron Ore. Gold is collected through control points and Iron ore can be harvested like Lumber.

Players are free to make and break alliances in game.

Once dead Heroes stay dead.



lol where did you find that map? I'm glad atleast someone played it I gave up on that one! I meant to complete Northrend too but lost the motivation. As for factions, the Thalmar will deffo be featured, I would like to have the falmer too but will need more costum recources so have to see how much size i have left (Map is already 5mg). Whats Vigils of Stendarr? Havnt come accross them ingame yet.



It is an edited version of the Lindormr Dragon by Olaf found on this site, I guess I will need to ask him for permission to use edited version if he's still around, hope he permits it as the map would not be the same without it, it realy is an awsome model, even has landed anins aswel.



I know what you mean :( But importing costum models for each unique city will just cost too much space but each city will be very different in its enviroment.

Terrain and Doodads look amazing!! (looks like a Galaxy mod to be honest)

I like the idea of making Skyrim an RTS as i hope it will be a different experience from the original game.
About the units in battalions idea will they be controlled as a group or just trained that way??
I see the terraining is a step away from your other works (LTA and siege of QT) it looks very realistic instead of your other warcraft-like maps.
