1) Make sure you have at least the 1.27 patch installed. The campaign WILL NOT WORK properly without it.
Specifically, Chapter Three will not load at all.
2) Download the Rise of the Blood Elves Intro cinematic and extract into your Warcraft III/Movies folder.
LINK TO THE CINEMATIC FILE
3) Download the campaign and place into your Warcraft III/Campaigns folder, or My Documents/Warcraft 3/Campaigns
if you have the 1.28 patch.
4) Play the campaign!

In a daring campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, Illidan faced off against the death
knight Arthas in an attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. However, Arthas defeated Illidan and left him
wounded in the snow, allowing Illidan to witness the creation of the new Lich King.

Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, realising their defeat, brought Illidan with them as they fled back to
Outland. Seeing their master's ugly wounds, they decide to bring him back to the Hellfire Citadel so that
he may recover... but, unbeknownst to them, Outland was in a state of a minor civil war.

Soon after that, tensions rise in the blood elven society as the Grand Magistrix Alessandra Katryne
proposes a dangerous idea: reclamation of their homeland, Quel'Thalas.

this may appear as doublepost because i have bad internet signal in here...

Help, I'm stuck , it won't start the "Through fire" chapter, and I dunno how to get the "latest version"...
Also, are cinematics supposed to be voiceless? I've read something about WOW voices and got all hyped up about it....

You need to downloaded the latest patch, just click on the Battle.net button ingame and it will download automatically.

Almost every cinematic is voiceless, there is only one cinematic in the entire game with voices, which is somewhere near the end, and they are voices from WoW. My other campaign though has a bit more WoW voices.

i do have the latest patch of warcraft 3 since last year, so I don't know why it's still not working.
Nontheless, I've used a little of my l33t ssk1llz and managed to get the levels working.

===============
My review:

Good things
-amazing new heroes
-cool new abilities and upgrades
-Blizzard-level mapping
-cool terrains and areas
-superb new units
-I love it when there's a lot of heroes in it.
Your campaign in currently my number 1 Campaign, completely trashing the former No.1 campaign (the Adventures of Rowan the Wise).
-I've found only 7 grammar and phrasing mistakes throughout the campaign. And only one is blatant.

Bad things:
-You used the Eastern Silvermoon terrain for at least 3 missions.
-People who are not into WoW will never get who is that Kalecgos guy. Or M'uru and A'dal.
-There are not enough hints. Like, for the chapter where you recruit the orcish clans in Outland, I'm told that they want resources, yet I seriously don't know how to give them those resources. A Hint telling me what to do exactly would be nice.
-When a character disappeared (changed sides/died/became unavailable) in an original campaign, all it's items were then given to the other heroes in the next campaign. You barely do this with Alessandra's talisman. Remember the RoC campaign , after Arthas takes Frostmourne and Muradin dies? All his items are isntantly sent to the player's base. Remember when the brothers Stormrage untied to save Tyrande and imprisoned Maiev? All of Maiev's items ebcame available to Furion's base ( and with a little trick, they could be given to Illidan and actually ported to the Blood Elf campaign later, allowing Illidan to wield the powerful Shadow Council orb found by Maiev in the broken Isles.)
-some interludes and cutscenes have massive lag. Cut down the number of units and effects. I know you want to impress, but Blizzard did it with short, barely populated cutscenes. Your amazing work is impressive enough without shoving it in every last cutscene possible.

Overall, this is the best so far. I can't wait for my "Curse of the Forsaken" to complete downloading

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. And I think there are enough hints. You do get a hint in the map with orcish clans that you need to check the quest log to see what each clans wants. I myself am against giving too many hints. Also, you get Alessandra's items in the last map, they spawn in your base, you only don't get Kael's items. And I don't think anyone actually ever complained about lag, so... I dunno, lol.

Anyway, really glad you liked it! I hope you'll like CotF as well, though I do suggest that you wait until the v.2.0 comes out, or you can just play both the original and that one when it comes out :)

Dude, you think there's enough hints?
then tell me: how to give the resources to the orcs, because it's the 7th time I play that map and still haven't found a way to give resources, since the Allies tab is greyed out.
But still, being the hardcore gamer I am, I just let all orc clans turn on me and exterminate them all. They're not needed anyway.

Also, I forgot the number of the map, but there's that level where there's a secret Pandaren Brewmaster near a cave. Eh, that level's got a timer, but , at around the 5th try, i already knew the map by heart and killed all enemies on it. yes, even those revenants behind the trees. Yes ,even that one sole Acolyte blocked in the trees to the north of the southern enemy base ( i actually found him by establishing a base there and chopping all trees down, then I panicked and built defenses in there. ) So,, if all enemies are dead... shouldn't the level insta-win? I had like 1 minute left and all I did was admire the new models some more. (they're awesome)

I see you somehow averted the "instawin" case with the map in Eastern Silvermoon where at the end all undead just retreat ( i pushed as far as the middle of the yellow base, but the buildings were all invulnerable and still attacking so i had to retreat.

Also, i still don't understand why all the undead retreat in that level. Sure, their leader is down, but leaderless undead turn more aggressive, feral, they don't retreat from battle and unsummon their buildings. You could have made it so the two orbs brought from the underground send a wave of life and cleanse the blight of undeath from the region, but still, the story is good even with this ...thing...

Also,.... I just did another sitting to just admire the terrain from all angles. Apart from minor out-of-place terrains ( I think you were testing new stuff?).... dude... It really felt like a new game. That was Blizzard-scale, and i'm not talking about W3 Blizzard scale, I mean WoW Blizzard-scale. Consider me creepy but I even got a boner.

Anyway, I may or may not be working on a project of my own... nothing your scale, only a couple of maps, but my experience with modding is equal to your experience in somalian cuisine, but I've got plenty of ideas (I'm a writer actually) , so if you need ideas.....prepare your inbox.

If you have what they want (500 gold or sth), go to their base with your hero. Of course you gotta have the item in his inventory if it's an item they want.(If I remember correctly there's always a circle of power). You sure you were at the right base? The Name of the clan is easily found out by moving mouse to a building/unit.

Hmm, I never add insta wins once all enemies are dead because I never managed to do that before the timers run out so I never even thought about that, lol.

And they retreat simply because he died. I couldn't think of anything better. (I suck at writing stories which is why I have a friend help me)

Anyway, really glad you liked it! I don't think it's really that amazing, but if you say so :D
And sure, you can send me your ideas and I'll let you know what I think about them.

I just replayed this campaign, and again it was the most amazing experience. :3
I sure hope the renewed CotF will bring this much excitement!
Well, the dranai in last chapter still don't build a base, and I think I know why:
I had injured ballistas around the base when I destroyed it, and the dranai worker immediately went to repair the ballistas, maybe not enough resources to make a base?
Also it was harder than first time, I had to reply the last chapter since I lost once(The purple harass my units when I attack orange, they come in the orange base), so in order to win I had to constantly produce and send new units at the orange base. THIS was the hardest part though, rest of the game is a piece of cake. :3 (Also orange is the only base which will send ballistas, so a few towers and 2-3 units take care of purple in defense).
Oh and I noticed that Kael dies too fast, he doesn't even finish his sentences. Might want to look into that :), maybe he should appear and start talking from killing the Pit Lord.

Thanks ^^

Hmm, I'll check out what you said about draenei, it might be it. And yeah, I agree about Kael, I just need to change something there, I'll do it once I eventually do an update. Glad you liked it again, hope you'll like CotF 2.0 just as much!

If you have what they want (500 gold or sth), go to their base with your hero. Of course you gotta have the item in his inventory if it's an item they want.(If I remember correctly there's always a circle of power). You sure you were at the right base? The Name of the clan is easily found out by moving mouse to a building/unit.

Dudes, i'm not a beginner, I know the game, alright? The thing is, I tried this 6 times and nothing happened for the first 5 times. the 6th time, Kael's portrait glitched and covered the map in copies of itself , then 5 seconds later, the game crashed.

it may be due to a little graphical error that keeps happening to me because my graphics card was..... stepped on a few times, but nothing like this happened before. Ever.

And I've never heard of this happening to someone else, so I suppose the problem is probably on your end.

And wat, why was your graphic card stepped on?

It may be on my end, because I actually have two versions of Frozen throne installed at the same time, one of which is a heavily-modified beta version , and the other one is a normal version of the game, but about 10% of it was lost because of me deleting vital stuff without knowing, so I had to back them up with the files from an unsupported version, since I broke the original CD about 5 years ago.

And yes, a few months ago I got a new video card ( interesting because the former one was broken into two pieces, but still somehow working), and while making the change... long story short, my useless uncle tried to pull a trick on me and put it on the floor surrounded by salami, and that was seriously not my priority, so I mistakenly stepped on it on the way to the box where I knew I put it. FYI, my uncle still ate the salami.

Anyway, back to the topic, your campaign was great. On a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 is nothing and 100 is divinity, Blizzard campaigns get around 60. Your campaign gets somewhere around 75.

It's like the 8th time I play the campaign and I still find stuff that I didn't see in previous plays.

This is the best campaign I've ever played. And I've played many. It is also good because it has a feeling of closure, something that in many campaign I wasn't able to witness.

But, there is a but. This campaign is so well made that I've got to compare this one with the sequel, Curse of the Forsaken. And I gotta admit that I didn't enjoy Curse of the forsaken as much Rise of the blood elves 2.0. May I say that the undead campaign you made is probably on par with your first campaign of the blood elves? Or would you consider what I said "harsh"?
Anyway, well done.

If you can\may, make "curse of the forsaken 2.0".
I think you could have a lot to flesh out, from some dialogues that according to me are mediocre, to the stats of some enemies (I guess maybe I am the only person on the world that cares about The lich king having an heroic armor instead of a divine one? - maybe it's just me..).
Anyway, if you need some help, I guess I could play again the campaign, make a lot of screens, and point you at what , according to me, should be improved. Well, thanks for attention.

Edit: anyway, is there a sequel to curse of the forsaken?

Well, that's probably it then, I suppose.

Wow, your poor graphic card.

Anyway, still glad you like it, but... are you seriously replaying it for the 8th time? Aren't you getting bored? xD

And actually, I think CotF is much better than the original RotBE, but then again, RotBE 2.0 is much better than CotF. And yes, I'm working on Curse of the Forsaken 2.0, you can check out my thread here about it: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/map-development-202/tomoraiders-campaign-series-247985/

And I don't know if there will. I have an idea about a 3rd campaign, but we'll see about that...

thanks for the answer. Got another thing to say. When reading the information about your map, it is said:

Jaina Proudmoore - Leader of the humans of Theramore Isle.
Jaina will appear through the middle of the campaign, but will play a crucial role in the following maps.
As Sylvanas wants only revenge against the Lich King,
Jaina still believes that Arthas could be saved, but knows that none of her allies feel that way.

When I played the map, I thought that maybe Jaina would have a relevant role on the campaign, to the point of changing a plan, or maybe trying to avoid his allies doing something, or actively working against them. Well, something of that sort. But none of these appear on the campaign. So what I mean to say, is that Jaina description is misleading. I guess that this description could be fitting in the Wow lore, not for this campaign. I saw nothing that made me genuinely think:
"damn, Jaina wants really to save Arthas"

;)

Edit: ah, and if you will flesh out the role of Jaina, you could also add a easter egg level on her (maybe his story with Arthas?) and his rivalry with Kael'thas for Jaina's heart. ;)
Don't take this suggestion too seriously, though. Just an idea passing through my mind :D

Yeah, we shouldn't forget about divine type but IMO it better suits RoC with its story and scripts than TFT where it wasn't even used and where there were real boss fights, without divine but with tons of abilities and HP. In RoC the only who had it were Cenarius, Grom, Lord Archimonde and Tichondrius (in the first UD mission and in the last chapter but one of NE campaign).

I by no means state that Tomoraider's series look more TFT than RoC, I'd rather say that to implement divine armor you should have a strong story point for that hero either 1) not to be killed or 2) to be killed with Chaos damage. For the first point, it's simpler to make it invulnerable.

P.S. Divine armor would suit the Lich King to underline his [demi]god powers. He created an entire new race, after all.

To be honest, I completely agree. Jaina had too much of a passive role in the campaign. In 2.0, I'll try to make her actively take part in the plot as much as I can. And there is going to be one new map, and it's going to focus on Jaina and Arthas, but there probably won't be any mention of Kael.

And LK's armor will stay hero armor. The problem is, there is no one with chaos attack in the campaign you can control. I'd rather give him a bunch of abilites, lots of HP and some events.

I understand perfectly your point.

I wonder: wouldn't an event crippling arthas be the right answer to this? An even that would change his stats from divine to heroic. Up to you.

I mean, I don't even know how many\which references to the lore you are going to make (I mean, see the campaign new lich king that I didn't find too much fitting to be fair..), so basically my suggestions could be useless. Anyway, after reading what you said, I completely trust in your judgement.
Good luck.

I'm happy that I'm not the only person in the world caring about these subtle things. :)

I always have problems with details as well, lol. I always know how will the big things go, then there are the details that take me forever to decide.

And technically, I suppose I did that something like that in RotBE 2.0, when you fight Kil'jaeden at the end. I did like that, it's a good idea, but I don't think I want to repeat myself again with the final boss fight. Though I think I will make the LK fight a bit harder in 2.0.

i'm at my 11th replay of the campaign, and i've already got accustomed to everything.

Except one thing. This one little, annoying, uninteresting thing.
This thing that can only be noticed by either cheats or by knowing already where it is.

That one annoying acolyte stuck in the forest behind the undead base in that mission where there's the hidden panda guy. WHY IS IT THERE. I've spent hours and hours , at school, at work, in chatrooms, everywhere, trying to find a reason behind his creepy presence there, stucked between a cliff and impassable forest. I simply cannot explain his existence. TELL ME
WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS GREEN IS THAT ACOLYTE IN THERE.

...I forgot to remove him. He's a mistake. I'm sorry there wasn't an epic reason D:

Ah, one last thing: could you make the campaign progress if one is able to kill all the enemies inside a map ?

Great campaing Tomoraider, I downloaded the first version long time ago, this is more balanced, for example The Outland mission after Kael betrayal in 2.0 isn't frustrating like the first one, once you got dragonhawks, bk's and some priest for backup you could solo the map with your heros xD.

In the Shattered Sun, the Dranei army scrip only works once, but they were killed by a demon wave from the second portal. Something fun the Paladin in fact is going to collect the three portal books if he isn't killed. Even if he doesn't have a viable base or army ;_____;

Thanks, glad you liked it! It's much better than the original version. And yeah, the draenei is still broken, though I honestly haven't been trying much to fix it, lol.

Oops, forgot to respond. Hope you'll like it!

I did like quite a bit, but in the end it didn't feel like the story had been continued from where we left Illidan and Arthas. To be honest it felt more like a completely new story. BUT i still had quite some fun with it though and is a worthy try on pretty much every aspect.

You haven't played curse of the forsaken then ^_^. Basically that's the one that continues where the story was last left of. These two campaigns are meant to be played together, after you play curse of the forsaken you will notice a lot of things to make more sense. But tomo is redoing that campaign as well, so I suggest you wait intil he updates.

Well, Knight26 pretty much said what I would have :)
But I am glad you liked it.
