In a daring campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, Illidan faced off against the death
knight Arthas in an attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. However, Arthas defeated Illidan and left him
wounded in the snow, allowing Illidan to witness the creation of the new Lich King.

Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, realising their defeat, brought Illidan with them as they fled back to
Outland. Seeing their master's ugly wounds, they decide to bring him back to the Hellfire Citadel so that
he may recover... but, unbeknownst to them, Outland was in a state of a minor civil war.

Soon after that, tensions rise in the blood elven society as the Grand Magistrix Alessandra Katryne
proposes a dangerous idea: reclamation of their homeland, Quel'Thalas.

Thank you Tomoraider for this great campaign. It's simply brilliant, but I have a few remarks:
-The build tooltip for Forsaken guard towers says:"Upgrade to guard tower", that's not right since you build them...
-You didn't give enough explanation concerning the secrets in the early chapters, or maybe that's my fault because I don't know where to look!
-Illidan's Orc warlord in chapter 2 came out of a boat which was in a small pond... How could he get information about the Orc bases from that small blocked pond?
-In the dark dungeon chapter, the quest to kill that green undead guy, the fiends beneath him attacked my troops during the cinematic, what's more weird is that my priests cast inner fire on them... I was like huh? Oh and that chapter is so scary, that was a good thing.
-- Good choice of music. Two steps from hell is my favorite.

N.B.: If you'd let Sylvanas die, I would've come after you with a hatchet! Just saying :p
I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Thanks, glad you liked it!
Never noticed that tooltip, will fix that.
Hmm. You may be right, I could give more explanation there.
I always knew about that, but I thought no one would care... lol. Maybe he went over the mountains and found a boat or something!
Huh, never noticed that, I'll check it out.
And thanks, TSFH music works perfectly in Warcraft 3.

My friend actually asked if anyone flipped out during that part, haha. I deliberately made it like that :p

You need the latest version if WC3. Updating the game would solve the problem.

Are you sure? It was the only reason why the map didn't want to run for some people.

just for it i reinstalled the whole game from original disc, patched it for the last version from the Blizzard's offical site, and still not works...
Isn't that possible that my video card is the problem? it's quite messing with me sometimes...(for example: for some reason doesn't like 1024x768, but works fine with 1600x1200...)

yes, that was the problem.
one of my friends brought me an another video card, and it worked like a charm.
I couldn't stop myself, and made it trough the whole campaign
In two words: THE BEST!
You made an incredible job.(ok, i skipped most of the cinematics, but still...)
one minor mistake i noticed: when the blood elves should cross to the portal after mission 4, i can still see them on the background...

Very nice campaign. I love using the Blood Knights because they just don't die when paired with Liadrin!

A few things, though, that either annoyed me or require some touch-ups:

1. Why does Liadrin's third ability only affect her? Vampiric Aura too good when used with Blood Knights? If so, then that makes sense.

2. Remembering all the hotkeys for each hero is a pain no matter what map you're playing on (this doesn't just go for your campaign, but really for all custom campaigns and even Blizzard's own official game). One thing that a few people do is set all hero hotkeys to QWER. If this means changing the names of some skills, just do it like this:
"[Q] - Skill #1"
"[W] - Skill #2"
etc.

3. The mission where you have to hold out for 30 minutes against Undead attacks has somewhat lopsided difficulty. It starts out hard, and then gets too easy once you get upgrades and tech up. If you look at examples from the official campaign, you'd see that with every wave, they make attacks harder and harder to repel (though it starts off fairly easy). Usually around the 1-2 minutes left mark, they completely swarm you with spawned units, such that you're not supposed to hold it off (but time will run out before you die). I don't know how those triggers work, but it's something to think about.

4. The mission where you first get Phoenixes is HARD. You start in a lousy position, Phoenixes obliterate Guard Towers, and the best way to do it is to ditch your starting base and establish at the bottom-left expansion. It's honestly one of the missions I like the least.

5. This is a personal irk, but I feel you use music from WoW and SC2 too much. Sure, it's meant to create drama, but it goes slightly overboard when Heart of the Swarm music starts playing during a cutscene.

Other than that, great campaign.

Review.

Thank you, glad you liked it!

1. I actually don't know, I just kind of felt that spell should only be for Liadrin. No specific reason why I didn't make it that it affects others too.
2. Yeah, I should set hotkeys to QWER, I always seem to forget though. I'll definitely do an update for that once.
3. I think you're right about this. I don't really know how to make the AI behave like that yet, I suppose I could just make the AI harder, but that map should be harder.
4. To be honest, that map is supposed to be like that. It is supposed to be one of the hardest maps.
5. While I do agree that sometimes I do use WoW music a bit too much, I think I only used the main theme from HotS once or twice in this campaign. I also used quite a bit Two Steps From Hell music. But yeah, as you said, it's personal how will people like that. Some people liked having all this music, some didn't.

Some more stuff now that I've completed the campaign. Kudos on a very well-made product, but still there's a few things to address.

1. For the hold-out mission, if you need an idea on how to increase difficulty, add some triggers where at certain points in time (i.e. every 3-5 minutes), the enemy spawns large waves of units and sends them at you, rather than completely relying on standard building of waves through its own AI. At certain points, the waves get bigger and bigger until, when the timer is almost up, you get a wave of something like 40 Ghouls at once (among other things), something you aren't expected to defeat, but won't completely kill you before time is up if you have a defense remaining.

2. The final mission (where you fight Kil'jaeden), I'm afraid, has some major issues.

The first is that the Draenei's AI is bugged. Upon taking out the Orange base, when they warp in, the workers just harvest lumber and gold and don't build anything (not even a Town Hall). This needs investigating, but my guess is that they start without enough money to build an initial base. Maybe give them an early lump sum of gold and lumber to start with so they don't bug out?

The second is that the two enemies you fight start the map with good upgrades. The purple opponent is maxed out, while the orange opponent has level 2 upgrades. Since you start with no upgrades, and purple sends attack waves pretty much every 2-3 minutes, you get overwhelmed easily even with 3 heroes (a 3/3 unit versus a 0/0 unit is a one-sided slaughter). I actually had to use cheats to give myself free upgrades just to even the odds, and even then I had trouble.

The last, and this is a personal opinion, is that I feel you start out with very few units (even though you have 3 level 10 heroes). Considering your opponent will throw everything at you, shouldn't you at least have a golem or phoenix off the bat to help defend the initial waves? Even if the mission is meant to be hard, having only a handful of swordsmen, archers and priests makes it very daunting.

3. This might just be me, but I find very little reason to get Hawkstrider Knights over Blood Knights. Blood Knights are simply... better, except at speed. Hawkstrider Knights need something to make them a little more useful beyond just a cleaving attack and high movement speed. Maybe give them Resistant Skin so they are slightly better versus casters (compared to Blood Knights)?

4. The mission where Kael sides with Kil'jaedan is too easy. Though you probably meant for the mission just to be akin to an interactive cutscene, the escape from the palace should present at least some degree of difficulty.

Things

Thanks again!

1. Oh I could do that, I dunno how I never thought of that.
2. Yeah, I know about the draenei AI. I've tried many times to fix it, but I just have no idea what's causing it.
And I don't think the map is too hard, well, it's supposed to be hard, and I've never really had any problems with it. I think I'll be keeping it as it is.
3. Yeah, Hawkstrider Knights are a little bit useless. I'll think of something to buff them up.
4. Yeah, this is a just a mission important to the story. Not supposed to be hard or anything.

Thanks for posting all this! I'll see what I can do when I do a small update after I finish CotF v.2.0.

Suggestion for the Draenei: When they warp in, have the game automatically spawn structures for them (instead of having their builders do it) (if your units get in the way, have them warped out of the base first). Fixes the problem and speeds them up. That or give their hero a mini Town Hall (or something like that).

Also, had a thought on Hawkstrider Knights: What if you gave them a unique type of Bash? One that always works, but has a long cooldown between bashes. Good for initiating fights.

Perhaps I'll do it, I'll see.
And actually, they originally had bash, but I changed it for cleave, lol.

Please, if you can tell me, how to get it? ._.
I posted this a while ago for someone with your problem:
you most likely have an unauthorized copy of the game, there is a solution to that simply google this: warcraft 3 english full patch.
You should get the latest patch in your search inquiry, simply click and download, and double click the patch after download. It should install automatically.
But please support the companies by purchasing their games if you can afford it. Besides, wc3 doesn't even cost that much anymore.

Hey, i just created acc to say my opinions.

1. In last mission your ally will build town center, storage, but that's all... he won't help you at all :(
2. I'm not sure but i think pheonix strike cannot hit units which are higher than you
3. Mission with pheonixes is not hard, it's medium, but destroying Kael's base takes a while, and when are destroying base new units are not coming to defend vs. nagas.
4. MUCH MUCH MUCH CINEMATICS, they are mostly great, but sometimes i was getting bored of them.
5. Ballistas have kinda low dmg.
6. are there more easter eggs like banshe-glados?
7. kael took my crown of kings and other good items and i couldn't take them back :( can you fix it?
8. i totally forgot about these strange riddle stones... no idea what could i do with them
But campaign is very nice :) i enjoyed, i'll play Forsaken soon

1. Yeah, I know about this problem.
2. That's intended.
4. I like having many cinematics.
6. Um, I don't think there are.
7. That's intended as well.
8. It's just a riddle.
And thanks, glad you liked it.

I've been playing this and it is great!

Just a suggestion in the map where the forsaken is include:
Can you change their buildings name like the townhall and etc.
Like to Shadowhall, haunted keep and dark castle so it will sound forsakenish or something

That's just I wanted to say and great work it is really really great..

I rescently tried this campaign again and I have a problem with Bloodshed optiona quest in mission 3.

This quest is preaty god damn wrong. And not in the meaning of challenge or mechanics or other crap like that. No, by wrong I mean hypocrtic as hell. "Making enemy blood elves die, as long we dont kill them personally, is OK." - And this suppose to be called "avoiding unnecessary bloodshed"?

I dont know, if this is realy that importand (maybe I am just picking on about nosenses), but I think it should be changed somehow.

I do agree with this. I just couldn't really think of anything better.

You know, you could base the mission about the similar concept like in Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising mission when you have to avoid patrols by making them move from their position (in DoW2 we need to destroy generators with stealth units to make enemy squad to retreat). The mission could be based on commanding a small squad of units destroying the generators of the shield guarding the Tempest Keep and avoiding the conntact with Kael'Thas blood elves (still killing demons and other crap that you can meet in Outland).

Of course I dont want to work at this at all. I know you are busy on working on that new version of Curse of the Forsaken (well at least I hope so, becouse I want to play it god damnit :p) and complete re-work of a map could be preaty damn time consuming.

That's a good idea, but I most likely won't be updating maps in Rise of the Blood Elves anymore. I'll keep doing small bux fixes and changes, but bigger changes, probably not. I agree that this side quest in the map makes no sense, but well. Perhaps I'll change the map one day, but most likely not in the near future.

Since apparently you have some problems with draenis I have a suggestion about them in the last level.

After clearing out orange base you could make them as an secondery army to command (similiar to the forces in Forsaken durning 7th mission).

First you will not have to deal with those AI issues. Second we get to command some new kickass units. As for me everyone wins :D

Oh but then you should make this mission slightly harder - with two armies the last battle would be a walk in the park.

one easy fix for the Draenei AI is to just play cinematic when they spawn, and after the cinematic move all player units from the area and just create the buildings.

The problem imo(I have just seen Azothan's video, I haven't tested it myself, never got that far :D) may most likely be(I am counting that you are using the AI from AI editor):

1. They dont have enough gold and/or lumber to build anything
2. The spot where they are supposed to build is occupied by other units, which will make the order for them fail, and I've heard(didn't test) that if one of the things in the chain is not doable, the AI just stops and it doesnt even try to build again.

That wouldn't work. And I'll tell you why; This is the last map, Finale. On top of that there's a timer above ticking. So why is this a problem? -- There's simply no time to learn a new race mechanic. You won't be able to really have fun with the dreanei anyway.
We're all waiting for new content from tomo, I say this map is perfect just the way it is. :)
