My father knows a guy that is about to become a father himself. this man is in his late 40
and when asked why he is having a baby at his late age, the man replied "Oops". I agree with Draelren, though, if you fuck, except the consequences, and "Oops" is no excese for an abortion. My point to this is rape is not the only way to become accidentily pregnant.

I can tell where this is going... straight to abortion. ~_~....
I already have quite a nice argument on abortion put together on another forum, we could revise it a little and put it here...

Forgot to introduce myself, hi, I am Halak, I was just invited to the group.

Heres the original one...

I could use some revising though, as it is rather old now...

"I am not sure if I placed this in the right forum to start with.

But hey, here goes.

Many people say that a women getting an abortion is unmoral, unjust, and is murder, I myself half agree on this, it is not the best thing to do, because the women getting abortions put themselves in that situation(most of the time.) But, when you take into account the rights of personal freedom, it should be left up to the person getting it.

There can also be an element of scientific logic put into play on this topic.

When a fetus is still maturing, most of it's vital functions, are controlled by the base of the brain, the stem, and by the time most abortions are done, the rest of the brain is still developing, and most of the vital functions are still developing. At that point, they are literally just a mindless batch of stem cells and undeveloped tissue.

Though I agree that the method for getting an abortion could be much, well, less disgraceful, I mean tearing the fetus apart, when it could be just as easily removed fully intact, is way on the side of unmoral in my opinion.

Now for a short comment on some of the points people will make about abortion.

Abortion is murder: Abortion is not murder, and if you believe so, then would you want to put everyone who has ever gotten one into jail?

Having the baby is the best thing to do, it will mature the mother mentally: This isn't a highly used one but it is viable to branch out into an entire debate, which I will quickly sum up.

1: Quite allot of the people getting abortions are teenagers, and that has been the same for the last 50-70 years, at least in the case of America. As we all know, in America, a 16 year old girl having a child is a bad thing, because highschool ends at age 18(normally, depending on the age you started.) And this can mean a the mother will have to drop out of school, if she cannot manage, and in most cases, the father will have no commitment to the new baby he helped bring about.

Or it could just end up with a child put up for adoption, never knowing their real parents and having a good likely hood of just being tossed from household to household, town to town, city to city for a good majority of their adolescent years, or even ranging into their teenage years.

I guess to sum it up, I do not believe abortion is totally right, but, in most western countries, and in fact, most countries in the world now, give that freedom of choice, and have a very loose grip on the freedom of choice, to spite what most bias American media states about America being the free-est place on Earth.

So, personal freedom, and a self brought on guilt, over a bunch of people yelling "baby killer" and doing nothing more then making the situation worse for the mothers, by ridiculing them for their action, which was their own damn choice, and involved no-one else, and these people who call them baby killers would most likely get an abortion in that situation to. Which brings about the topic of being Hippocratic.

I guess to sum it up again.
An abortion is a personal choice, if you are going to be part of the group, mostly confined to the US, and the UK, who call people baby killers, then be my guest, but remember, technically, you are trying to pull away a personal freedom, and that you have no been in that situation before, and when a person gets an abortion, it, in no way, hurts you.

Just like when someone says something you don't like on TV, if you get offended, thats fine! But you don't have to sit there and watch it for 30 minutes and then make a complaint, nobody is forcing you to watch it, and if you don't, then guess what, it doesn't effect you, same principle. Bud out of other peoples personal lives, and don't try to sue a network because you don't like someone, the relation is sueing/complaining is the equal of butting into someones personal situation, they did it because they have the right to, I can go on tv right now, and show 6/7's of my buttock to American veiwers, ya someone might get offended, but I hold full rights to do so, as long as I don't add the other seventh.

BLARRG.

You should all get the point by now? I could more easily express this if it sparked a full on debate. Which believe me, would just end inside of one side stating the same thing over and over, and the other side doing the same."

Yes it is, an no I wouldn't.

Don't try to justify that the life forming in the womb will be a bad one. You don't know what kind of life it will have.

Hardly the issue, no?

How did I say that it would have been a bad child?

Usually if someone gets an abortion, it would be a personal choice.... one second... watching a movie...

But, I have come to a conclusion when it comes to topic, and someone said it should be made into a topic, stickied nad made mandatory to read....

Speaks the truth, eh? :p.

Honestly, it is really hard to sustain any arguement on religion, "on the spot". It always takes research, and compromise if you ask me, and a whole lot of time. And in the end, will get nowhere just because of differing beliefs. ....

SO, I don't see any of our religion debates ever getting anywhere...

My turn. I am for abortion. It is said that if you fuck, take the consequences. This is true, but only in certain conditions. What if you can't support the kid? What if you don't make the money, or don't have a loving husband? Abortion is the answer. It provides a way out if needed, but is abused too much. If you have the ability to provide full care for the kid, accept the consequences. On another note, if you want an abortion, that means you don't care about the kid? Most people, this is the case, even if they have the ability to care for the kid. Most don't accept the consequences. If you care so little for the kid, abort it for reasearch. Why keep a baby you don't give a flying fuck about, when it can help cure a terminal disease? To help repair people with illness. My point is that the consequences should be accepted, but no one does, Therefore, there is no reason to be against abortion, when no one else seems to be. Why complain, it helps research?

I'm with Sarge on this one. Besides, isn't it perfectly fine to abort if, for example, you get drunk and wake realizing you're being raped (and made pregnant)? It is a logical solution, because why should you be stuck with the kid that someone forced on you?

Hmmm... I suppose I approve abortion. I think it's better to don't have a child than having a child that you don't want.

So you'd take away a life, because it's inconvenient?

Because like it or not, there's a life growing in your womb. If you really don't want it, then I recommend adoption.

Hakeem So you'd take away a life, because it's inconvenient?
Not inconvenient, love. If you can't support the kid, why let it live a horriable life, with nothing? Why put yourself through all the trouble, when the kid will end up with a shitty outcome? Put it to good use for research.

  • You don't know what kind of life the kid will have. You don't know the future.
  • If you really care so much about the quality of the child's life, maybe you'd put them up for adoption instead of ending it.

Yes lets throw the the child into a shit hole, where he will have little freedom, horriable food, and no friends. Give him a horriable edu. and yeah, he will be fine right? You don't seem to understand the quality of science.

yes, but for the "parents", you mom, if raped, could end up with a horrible life that is ruined because she was raped and not allowed to abort while she was in college with little money. That situation says that letting her life be ruined so the kid may live is the only good option?

Hakeem, why do you keep saying that you don't know that a child's life will suck? I grew up a childhood that could have been a lot better, and look at me. I'm pissed, and for the most part, unhappy. Just think of a child that is hated and has nothing. Trust me when I say it is the same for everyone, once you have been treated like shit, you will never be happy. The worse you are treated, the more unhappy you will grow to be. Ask anyone with this problem. Stop testing me, if I didn't know what I was talking about, I wouldn't have given that opinion.

I agree. I am hated in school by almost everyone (including some teachers XD) and that has pretty much destroyed my teenage years up till now. I switched to a virtual academy with people of higher intellegence than people in my high school. So, my life ought to get better even though I will have nothing to call a social life. XD And that's how my life is bad.

A child born by "accident" through unwanted sex (rape) would be unloved by his/her parents and have a horrible childhood with no or little friends and end up having a horrible life with possible suicide.

You have no idea if the child will be like this.

BTW Varsaigen, being a loser in school is nothing compaired to hate between family.

being a loser in school? XD I'm just hated for unlogical reasons, like having been to Canada (They are all very fond of Canada...), but that's not the point. Hakeem, I cannot see the future. I use logic to determine what I can. A child, born by accident, has a low chance of being loved by his parents because he was an "accident". That information would make him miderable and what friends he has might walk away (except for the extreme case where they try to help). If his friends walk away, and his suffering continues, this can lead to emotional stress and perhaps suicide. It is all obvious to me and I think my answer is logical.

It is very probable, proven by previous cases.

I'm God. (Jk) Same answer as above.

Sarge, school and family problems usually come together, turning into a vicious circle.

I was not abused as a kid, but my family was dicks, that builds up anger. With anger, you care little what people think of you, esp in school. Usually children uncared for care little about anything else. This brings Satanists, suicide, and the love of death. Ask any abused kid, they care little about what you think of them. Trust me, I have friends.

That's exactly what I mean, when a child groes up in a "bad" family, he or she doesn't give a shit about school, which causes problems at the educational center and these problems usually cause more problems at home, which again affect negatively the child and... continue in downwards spiral.
