This thread turned out mostly to be a place where we share different fan-fictions which are found in different places. We share, we comment or not, and simply move on. There is no hard, complex philosophy behind MLP:FiM.

I think this thread is perfectly sane and active, and it just shows that although we like the show, we are not fanatics.

What's an OC?

Since when do you actually need to reffer yourself as a brony, a herd, or have pony avatars to enjoy the show?

I watch it, I enjoy it... and hell... I don't even watch the episode on release. I just don't have the time and don't enjoy spending Saturday evening waiting for the new episode to come out.
I like the Simpsons and I watch it once every month or so.
And I come by this thread to see what's up, comment maybe on the last episode and see what new fan-fics have been released. But everything at a casual pace.

OC stands for original character. OCs are made-up characters that do not exist in the show. They're often found on forums and social websites (like Facebook) and used to roleplay or write stories about.

Lyra, Bon-Bon, Berry Punch and others similar to that are not OCs as they are based on characters in the show, whereas characters like Smooth Pony, Nyx, Metal Pony, Neutral, etc. are OCs.

The fastest way to tell something is an OC is when they used a pony-generator game to create the character, are Alicorns, have weapons/items/clothes or have tacky colors.

Quoted for err better than the YT videos (will wait for the 1080p). And i like watching MLP as close as possible to its original airing. Still has this warm 'new' smell. Other days are for serious and non-cartoon movies and shows.

and there is no much philosophy in MLP yes but those lessons in the end actually apply to everyone, not just kids and I like reminding myself these when it comes to friendship ^^

This episode was kinda.... meh.

I mean two episodes in a row where they were predictable as the next sunrise.

And I get that RD was the best character for this kind of lesson, but the way she suddenly became the town hero... I don't know... RD just didn't seem like that kind of pony. And two RD episodes, I mean what's up with that. I hoped we could see someone else in the main role, like PP or Fluttershy.

Oh well, end of rant.

Meh. I love Rainbow Dash, and parts of this episode made me smile, but it's not my favorite episode ever. No new pony, somewhat predictable, etc. Good episode, but there are better.
I am glad, however, that they at least tried to make things a little more ambiguous by showing that one Unicorn who had dark-purple magic, too (the one opening the peanut butter jar). Should've showed her before the Mare-Do-Well saved the bridge to make it less obvious, but still, good try.

Also, Rainbow Dash FanClub is canon. Lawl, and Scootaloo is the head of it. How funny.

/chalks it up as "good Rainbow Dash PMV fodder" episode.

Now last week's episode... Man! I loved it. Finally coming back to the Mane 6 was a breath-of-fresh-air, and finally having a song was also a breath-of-fresh-air! Especially such a well-made song that really harks back to the days of Musical yore.
And if that wasn't enough, it's a duet between my two favorite characters. Legit!

Sure, it was pretty obvious, but I think it went over well. Really good interplay between the Mane 6 (of course, I think some of Pinkie Pie rubbed off on Rainbow Dash; since when can she whistle to the (awexome) background music?).

Thought this one was kinda meh as well. Might be worth noting that they got a new writer for this episode which might explain why the episode itself didn't really add much for me (seemed like the writer was still kind of exploring the setting and characters). Having this episode coming right after the previous one (which I absolutely loved) might not have helped much either.

The episode was OK, not from the most enjoyable but still. I like Rainbow Dash, so I don't mind another episode with her. It comes from that I like them in this order:

1. Fluttershy - since early MLP, she's allegedly my most favorite because well.. is sweet and all.
2. Almost as much as Fluttershy if not just as much is Princess Luna. Well, her awesomeness is self explanatory.
3. Rainbow Dash - this is where she fits in and from all the ponies out there, 3rd means really one of my most beloved ponies! So yeah I enjoyed her cutness and coolness again.
4. AJ because also sweet and the next I like

5. Lyra but any of the non-OC don't matter to me.

Like Kyrbi0 pointed out, it was nice to have a conversaton with an entirely new pony and with magic, this was a good thing from the episode and they need to make more of such things.

And at first I thought that Mare is Nightmare Moon i.e Luna disguised with her old outfit, but somehow it later wouldn't have made sense, then I really thought a new pony, didn't suspect what turned out.

Normally this is something I would post on the MLP: FIM thread here on the Hive but I figured no one would mind if I posted this outside of the thread.

I stumbled across a MLP name generator while surfing the net (having watched episodes 1-9 back to back ) and I figured it be worth a few laughs to post our own pony names using our first names.

My pony name is Starbuck. I guess my job in Equestria would be running a coffee shop, ironic as I don't drink coffee, bleck....

You know, unfortunate as it is, I think a lot of my issues with Season 2 so far has just been the order of the episodes.

Don't get me wrong; "I'm lovin' it". But look at what we've had:

Twilight aside (main character, exempt from "seeing too much of her"itis), we've had 2 RD episodes side-by-side, Rarity has been done again and again, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders have all been highlighted (aside from Scootaloo, though 7 and 8 pretty much do that for her...). Just a little bit of shuffling would've done a lot of good, IMO.
